The Present

A girl who isn’t what she seems …

Lorelei Carson was different, always had been. She had a tough life and her chances of finding love were next to zero. She worked three jobs, barely got her first apartment, and was still enduring the lashing tongues of bullies from high school. She’d hoped once she moved out of her foster parents' home that it would stop, but it only got worse. In fact, what was supposed to be the best night of her life became the worst when a borrowed dress is ruined and the shoes that went with it are stolen! Little did she know, her troubles had just begun.

The Past

An unsuspecting young man …

Jefferson Cooke, the eldest son of one of the famous Cooke brothers of the Triple-C Ranch wasn’t looking for love. Why bother when there were no young women around to marry? If he wanted a wife, he’d have to send for a mail-order bride and the thought didn’t appeal to him. In his mind, it was far too risky. His situation, therefore, was hopeless. Little did he know a prospect was about to show up and wearing a funny pair of shoes to boot! But that’s not all that was strange about the young woman put into his family’s care. No, there was more to her than meets the eye and Jefferson was about to find just out how much. But can two people from two different worlds find love? A better question is, can they fight it?

Enjoy this mash-up of two worlds in this sweet, clean, surprise-filled, time-travel romance set against the backdrop of the old west.

NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.

I absolutely loved this crazy and fun, weird and romantic story. It does answer a few of the weird things that go on in Clear Creek when the MacDonald’s show up, and some of the whys but also kind of shocked me too in how things work there sometimes. I love Clear Creek and the wacky people who live there and I love the Cooke family as they are the largest, wealthiest family around and somehow most of the town is related to them somehow it seems.
This is such a great Christmas story. I loved it. I highly recommend this story and all of Kit Morgan’s stories in the region Oregon and Washington. It like one big happy, crazy family in every town she writes about.
I have to find time to go back and read them all again. Yikes.

Just a pallet cleanser after Iron Flame. This book was a pleasant, chaste, short romance that I finished in a couple of hours. I do like a good time travel romance when done well, and this one was fine. There is a supernatural element that runs through the series, but it didn’t hook me enough to continue beyond this book.

Also, this was one of 31 ebooks I picked up during ‘Stuff your Kindle’ back in September. This might be the only one I get to, but hey, 31 free ebooks, right?!

4 stars for four listening ears. Haha. Say that ten times fast or 1879 times fast? Hehehe.

Loved it just what i needed truly deliciously cheesy (not the spray kind)

Since this was my first book in the universe (i believe) it was clear as a creek (sorry couldnt help myself) that id have gotten more out of it if i was familiar with the previous stories in that universe and the overall premise of humans but not soulmates esque whatever.

However i will say i didnt need to read previous books to throughly enjoy this one, but i would reccomend doing so as im going to go back and attempt to read everything in this universe before the next book/couple (alluded to at the end of this story) starts.

Since its clear characters reoccur. Its eerie that ive heard of clear creek and the toen of nowhere before but that very well could have been a different HR or even from a tv show or something its not hard to get cross overs or similarities in such books ehich make them all the more wonderful and soul nourishing imo.

Ahhh what else... hmmm oh yes the start of the book has a sorta prologue/key for terms used in the book like time master and the non human backstory which is super minimal in this book anyway even though you know from the get go theres some other/magic element to the people and general story besides the whole back in time trip.

It wasnt as easy to read as other more clear cut ones are simply because while you could read it as a standalone you could really feel that you shouldnt and were missing out on a lot by doing so. And there were times which were a little confusing slash in the dark however if anything that helped this story since youre on the same page as the female protag so i imagine if i knew everything beforehand her cluelessness to the whole thing mightve been frustrating if id already been through the whole rigamarole multiple stories beforehand.

Anyhoo love it. Wish there was more of their story. As newlyweds or even parents? Just more of them since this one was very much an entire family rather than more one on one which obviously was the point but i felt their frustration of not being able to truly talk or be together and free to just be them without everyone else their or whatnot.

If you have read any of this series, this is a must read! This story has everything, time travel, the Cookes, new characters, and my favorite the author, Kit Morgan, wrote herself in it, which makes it hilarious. What's unbelievable the whole story line flows. I really enjoyed the love story of Jeff and Lorelei,

What an absolute brilliant blending of two different times, far different characters, and definitely two unique worlds that Kit Morgan (and her alter ego Geralyn Beauchamp) have gifted readers with in CHRISTMAS WITH THE COOKES. I actually have made notations on my online calendar for 2020 to do a re-read of the Prairie Brides series, and to pick up Time Masters series. So, yeah, this melding of two worlds fascinates me and I want to know more and revisit what I thought I knew for little nuances I missed (although often wondered about).

Lorelei captured my heart immediately. She has gone through so much in her young life yet she faces each day with an attitude of “I can do this”, even when faced with truly nasty people. By the time she has stepped through time to meet Jefferson and the residents of the town of Clear Creek Lorelei shows her strength in facing an unbelievable situation, her courage in forging forward doing the best she can in this time period, and her heart in finding love and holding on tight to Jeff and the future they could have. And what an intriguing future lies ahead for this couple. I certainly hope we run into them again (in one series or better, both).

I loved everything about CHRISTMAS WITH THE COOKES and definitely was very happy to run into old book friends once again. I would highly recommend this story for any reader who enjoys Western Historical Romance or Time Slip Romance but at the heart, if you love a good, emotional, funny, sad, or even, at times, frustrating love story then this one is perfect for you.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. (and I will be buying it for my keeper shelf on my Kindle)

Time travel

I love Kit Morgan and Geralyn Beauchamp who are one in the same. The Time Master books are amazing and I loved the tie in of this book to that series. I also thought it fun that the author wrote herself intonthe story. I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because I was annoyed by all the crying and self-doubt of the heroine. I know she was.only 18, but it grated a bit. Nonetheless, I am a huge fan of this author.

Christmas with the Cookes

Wow, just wow! I don't want to give much away, but I loved the ending. Learning more about the difference between the 19th century and the 21st century. It's amazing everything that has changed. But the bond between Jefferson and Lorelei was the best. A must read. Great clean romance!

Wonderful

As always a great read. I enjoyed learning so much about the McDonald's and inserting Kitty Morgan in the story was ingenious. One problem that I saw was about The Ponderosa ranch and the show Bonanza. You said California, but it was located in Nevada. Just a great book. Waiting on the next installment. Thanks for great storytelling.

WOW! SO DIFFERENT
I don't know if I have ever read anything like this before. I do believe it's my first-time travel book and what an interesting one it was. I'm a sucker for a historical Christmas read and since I have lately been reading Kit Morgan's stories and the characters of Clear Creek have grown on me, I was curious about a time-travel story within the town. The added element of Elfish creatures like those of Lord of the Rings was unusual, but that was a minor part of this book. The author's books have so many crossover storylines it's hard to keep them all straight. I wish she had left out some parts of this book that I felt were unnecessary for a "clean read".
1. Lorelei refused to stoop to Cindy’s level – which from the looks of it, was about to be prone with her legs in the air.
2. Lorelei stared at the boxes, still recovering from Cindy’s jabs. She hoped she didn’t start spreading rumors all over town. But then, Lorelei could fire back with facts – she was an eyewitness to Cindy having a sexual encounter with an underage male.

As Lorelie and Jackson come together, the fact they are true soulmates, without giving it away, is fascinating.

Of course, I loved all of the tea-drinking!
He was pouring her a cup of tea as if it was the most natural thing to do, even if his hands were shaking a little. The sight of a handsome cowboy performing such an act was comical. If she had her cell phone, she’d take a picture. But the MacDonalds must have it.

Only a scant few references to God and prayer. I would welcome more particularly in the late 1800s as would be common.

I downloaded this book with my new Kindle Unlimited subscription. I am excited to read the next one in the series. All opinions are mine alone without compensation or expectation.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars = very good

What a fun quick holiday read. Orphan named lorelai who freshly aged out of the foster system is working 3 jobs and living in a small apartment above one of the places she works. Always felt like she didn't belong untill she meets the eccentric couple the MacDonalds that seem to be from a different time who invite her to their annual christmas party. After eating some strange cheese wiz she is then transported 140ish years back in time and meets the Cookes family who founded the small town she lives in. Though she knows she shouldn't a certain farmer boy (Jeff) catches her eye. Will she stay in the past for love or will she be forced to go back to her own time?

SPOILER SECTION:
I love a good historical fiction, but I think the twist the time travel could've been excited a little better. she gets drugged and time warped into the past where she makes a true connection that she fears she can't act upon because she is from the future. I loved the idea of this tension, but I dislike the idea that they were fated mates that were separated by time and the MacDonalds then play matchmaker to solve it and now Lorelai and Jeff are time travelers themselves? I like the idea of a woman who doesn't feel like she belongs in her world and is transported to a different time where she learns the true meaning of love and family, but the fated mates piece felt a little too over the top.

Tired

I love Kit Morgan's work but reading this book was tiring more than half way nothing happen no explanation no communication nothing everything in her mind and her half thoughts which explained nothing of her life or what she is actually thinking about. For example (she was u responsive for day, why ? What happened? When? + the wedding she attended ?! Who's this J ? What ?). I only started to enjoy the book near the end when actually something was happening but still so many unanswered questions and confusing stuff?! Unnecessary too long. I forced my self to finish it and now I am so tired because of the stress and confusion.

This is the first book I have read by Kit Morgan. It is a time travel novel set at Christmas in Clear Creek, Oregon. I have not read many time travel novels but I do find them fun to read. One thing I thought was so funny in a good way about this book was that one of the characters is named Kitty Morgan. She is also an author in the book. It was fun reading how the main female character, Lorelei Carson, adapted to the past when she was transported there by a couple she had just met. I really enjoyed the family that she was left with in the past. They were all so entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book.

Nice intro to the author’s work

I picked this up via my Kindle Unlimited subscription hoping it would be a light holiday read and I wasn’t disappointed. It falls into the category of “clean” romance but the author doesn’t act like sexual attraction doesn’t exist, which is good. The basic story of an orphan finding a family to accept her was spiced up with a paranormal element. This book is a mashup of the author’s historical and time-travel series, and it made me want to check both of them out so I guess it did its job!

Loved the book

Kitty has hit the ball out of the park. Loved how she has introduced a new series. There has always been a mystery about the Macdougals. This book explains a lot about that mystery. Loralie has been basically alone since she was 6 years old. She is suddenly whipped back in time to meet her soulmate Jefferson Cooke to 1889. They meet and there is an instant attraction. So what that she is a 21st century girl and he is a 19 century man. Make sure you read this book to find out.

Such a time travel story to fall in love with.

Just when you think Kit Morgan can't surprise you even more she out does herself again.
Lorelei is all alone in the world with no family since she was 6. Along comes a couple that seems to take her under their wing. A Christmas party starts out as a treat for her and suddenly seems a bit of twilight zone. Jefferson and his family take her under their protection but find out her secret. She falls in love for the first time in her life. What happens here is a wonderful story that leaves you wanting more.

Lorelei. after foster homes, working three jobs, she has her first apartment.
Filled with antique furniture she has to be careful of, and with the Cooks owning the place and being wealthy also. Tired of being yelled at, as a free babysitter, the chores than never ended, because she was a foster kid to them. The long walks late at night from one job, the bullying still continue .
Meeting Jefferson Cook could there be a chance for more. He was wanting a wife, but hesitate on a mail order bride. A good story once again by the author.

YOU'RE NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS!!!!

First of all, it is a "page turner" of the first order! The setting of the scenes are very well done and if the reader pays attention and "let's it flow", one can be drawn into each part of the book. We'll written. A most interesting story, well told.
Since I don't want to spoil your enjoyment of the book, I'll simply say that there is more, MUCH more, to this story than you might have imagined.
My reaction to the ending went...
"Oh Really?".....
KUDOS to you Ms Kit....can't wait to read another of your books!

Lorelei did not belong. An orphan, she was out of place no matter where she went. Then the McDonalds came into her life and invited her to a Christmas party. The fun begins. She lands somewhere unfamiliar, falls in love, and has to figure out where she is and what has happened to her. What's more fun is that we, the readers, know what happened and "watch" Lorelei's struggles with the impossible. A delightful read.

Jefferson ❤️ Lorelei

If you read the Time Masters series first, you will know what is going on in the background (behind the scenes). Christmas with the Cookes is the beginning of the Matchmakers in Time series and is such a good clean romance story. Lorelei Ingrid Carson was “kidnapped” from 2019 by Dallan and Shona and taken to the 1880’s old west to meet Jefferson Cooke. Ahhhhhh, romance.

I KNEW IT!

I started this whole journey with the Snow's of Clear Creek series, then I find the earlier books before their stories and now I find out there's a whole series before this one! WITH A TIME MASTER!

I knew the had to be something "magical" about the MacDonald's!
I had to go look up the books by Geralyn Beauchamp so that I can read their story and the knew that the in with Clear Creek!

I can't wait to get started! See you there!

Always great to revisit Clear Creek 💕

How could you go wrong when Kit Morgan & her alter ego get together and write a book which combines two of my favourite series! Its always great to revisit Clear Creek and all the wonderful people there. Combining that with a liberal sprinkle of Time Masters and you’ve got a winner.

Christmas mix ups

Oh my golly. I picked one as I was not aware that it was a time traveler book. I read mine on my kindle fire and enjoying all the Christmas books. It started out great but then it went upside down.I don't care to read time travel. Sure glad I got it on my unlimited so I didn't pay for it.

Good book I’m just not sure how I feel about Kit Morgan taking some of my favorite characters and one my favorite towns and adding it to her time traveling series. When I revisit the town will I wonder about the characters and their knowledge. Do I look back on previous books and try and rethink the characters, the incidents? Do I just enjoy this new series? WOW?!? Mind blown. Clean fun read.

Good concept

Interesting concept but writing seemed awkward and juvenile. I would have liked more background and explanations with less inner anguish from Lorelai. This seemed more like a third or fourth episode in a series than Book 1. Too many characters with their own stories mentioned but not explained - like trailers for future episodes but confusing in this one.

Good and clean

I love time traveling books. This one really kept me engaged. The writing is easy to follow and I didn't think there was much depth to the storyline. The only thing I didn't like was how it some how shifts into a science fiction book. But otherwise, a clean book to read for the holidays.

Wonderful story!

I wasn't sure going into the book but so happy I gave it a chance! Kit Morgan fans will love it as well as first time readers. This is the first book I had to hold myself back from jumping to the last pages to find out how the story ended. First page to last makes the book well worth reading!

Sweet time travel romance

Sweet story of a young couple who are ment to be thru time and space. Wish the author would have spent more time telling us about
Lorelei,s adventure instead of so much talk of their feelings. It got old after the fourth time. Would have liked a teaser into the how and why
Lorelei traveled back in time. Would recommend this sweet and clean book.

Great Take on Time Travel

Time travel with a twist. I like it!! Time travel novels are among my favorites. This one has a bit of whimsy that makes the story line stand out. Nicely done, Kitty. In answer to any questions, no I am not putting any spoilers in this review. Only that I will be diving into this series.

loved it

Wow. What a way different type of story that I expected. Honestly I can’t wait to read more from these authors. What a Funtime the authors must have had coming up with this concept of time travel, soul mates, creating situations to ensure the bloodlines will continue safely.
