Fab book, I don't know why it got bad reviews on here, but perhaps only because the average Goodreads reader lacks literacy when compared to your average Amazon reader.

With that in mind, I'd say that if you don't like complexity of drawing and technical terms, if you like everything very, very simple, then this book is not for you. If on the other hand you do like to challenge yourself (and typical readers generally either "do" or "don't" get this book), then you will find it an inspiring classic and welcome addition to your library.

This richly illustrated book, which took 3 years and a lot of love and labour to complete, covers a wide range of media (watercolour, gouache, pen and ink, acrylic, scraperboard) and botanical nomenclature/ context of plants in great detail. There is even a section on microscope work for those who are so inclined and willing to put the effort in. It provides you with all you need to win a Gold Medal from the RHS.

I know the approach of this book is not the fashion these days (as in, everything nowadays is very shallow), but I expect there will come a time when we are all dead, and when the Wheel of Fortune turns full circle. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it, and you're probably a bit of a flake anyway!
