Maybe if I hadn't read a novella with similar plot I would have enjoyed it more. I guess it was okay but I thought it was a bit cheesy at times and to be completely honest I finished it just because it was so short, if it was a full length novel I would have dnf it. I don't think it was that bad but it's not a novella with that trope (student-teacher) that I will remember so 2 ⭐

Perspective is a novella in the Love in LA series by Jenna Hartley. I completely devoured this story! It may have been short, but it was packed full of so much amazingness. However, if age gap romances and student/teacher romances aren’t your thing then this may not be for you.
Kate gave up her premed education to start art school, her real passion. She decides to model for an art class, which is how she meets Alexander and how he discovers his new muse. There is an instant attraction between the two of them and their chemistry just continues to burn hotter and hotter as their story continues.
They both played the student role and the teacher role at times throughout the story. I loved that they helped each other build confidence in themselves throughout the story. I wanted more of this story and of these characters, but it was a great introduction to a new series.
This is a book I’d recommend to anyone who is a fan of instant chemistry, age gaps and student/teacher romances.

3+ un romanzo breve che è un po' tutto e niente allo stesso tempo. Sì è un teacher/student ma a parte UNA lezione insieme in cui lui sostituisce un prof e lei fa la modella, non ci sono altre occasioni scolastiche. Sì è un age gap, differenza d'età di più di 10 anni, ma non ha influito sulla trama.
L'unico messaggio positivo che passa è il perseguire i propri sogni, senza lasciare che nessuno ti intralci.

Dalla trama di questo romanzo, si capiva ben poco, questo lo premetto e lo ammetto… però ero curiosa perché non avevo mai letto nulla di Jenna Hartley, quindi nonostante le sfumature di questa storia portassero a un forbidden, mi sono lanciata.
La prospettiva di te non si basa sulla differenza d’età, non si ferma sul concetto studentessa/professore, bensì sull’essere sé stessi, sulla voglia di lasciare libera la propria arte.
L’identificarsi in qualche modo, o il volersi identificare, ha portato il protagonista di questa storia, Xander, a sentirsi smarrito e ad aver paura di riprendere in mano un pennello e lasciare l’arte cantare per lui. Kate è più giovane, ha molti dossi di fronte a lei, molte bugie da rivelare ma ha voglia di vivere, di essere sé stessa.
“«Non hai bisogno di me. È tutto qui». Batté un dito sul mio petto, appena sopra il mio cuore. «È tutto in te»”.
La penna dell’autrice l’ho trovata delicata, molto scorrevole e fluida. La storia ha un senso anche se non è lunga, sicuramente il messaggio è chiaro: se hai un sogno, se vuoi essere te stesso, devi andare avanti a testa alta, senza farti influenzare da famiglia, amici, o colleghi. Questa non è una storia travagliata, non ci sono grandi drammi, ma l’autrice ci mostra che la pura di affrontare le sfide della vita, ci sono a qualsiasi età. Non importa quanta libertà si voglia avere nella propria vita, l’essere sinceri deve essere una delle cose che si mettono al primo posto, perché quando si ha a che fare con un’altra persona, è fin troppo facile mettere tutto in discussione.
“Sono nevoso perché sconvolgi il mio mondo. Sono nervoso perché metti in discussione tutto ciò che pensavo di sapere sull’arte, su me stesso. Sono nervoso perché mi sto innamorando di te”.
Non saprei dire se la storia d’amore sia il fulcro di questa storia, di sicuro ci sono due persone che senza rendersene conto si gravitano attorno e si appoggiano l’uno all’altra. Si aiutano, si conoscono, si amano e lasciano spazio a tutti i sentimenti anche tramite l’arte. Ma mi piace pensare che il messaggio sia più profondo.
La storia è scritta bene, si legge molto velocemente, quindi non posso che consigliarvi questo libro se cercate una storia leggera e che vi strappi un sorriso, o anche solo un sospiro sognante.

This was such a short sweet story! I wished it was longer. I loved Kate and Xander. Kate was a pre med student whose just dropped to follow her dream of art school. Xander is a professor and an artist. He has recently injured his wrist in a skiing accident and has lost his ability to create. With a big art exhibit looming meeting Kate was the spark he needed. She ignites something in him that he cannot turn away from. Their attraction and chemistry was evident from the first page and I found I couldn’t put their story down. I loved the way they challenged and inspired each other. They were the perfect match. I am looking forward to rest of the books in this series, especially Kate’s brother Hunter after the teasers dropped in this one.

A loro insaputa lascia medicina e inizia a frequentare una scuola d’arte, molla l’appartamento dove abitava e va a convivere con la sua migliore amica.
Un giorno decide di mettersi ulteriormente alla prova e si offre di posare, nuda, per una lezione di disegno dal vivo.
Proprio in questa occasione entra in gioco Alexander Kline, un artista molto conosciuto, supplente del professore Tate, che purtroppo, in seguito a un infortunio si ritrova ad affrontare un blocco creativo e l’assenza di ispirazione.
Il problema peggiore per Xander è che dopo sei settimane si terrà un’importantissima mostra in cui dovrà esporre venti dipinti, di cui ne ha già completati… ZERO!
Tuttavia, proprio quando inizia a pensare che non riuscirà a rispettare questa scadenza, vedere Kate gli fa tornare la voglia di dipingere.

Cosa penserebbe la gente se si sapesse in giro? Cosa direbbero i suoi genitori se scoprissero che la propria figlia, oltre ad aver cambiato scuola, si presta come modella di nudo?!?
Cosa deciderà Kate? Accetterà di aiutare questo artista a salvare l’imminente mostra? E soprattutto, questa attrazione che li fa piano piano avvicinare, questa sorta di scossa elettrica che entrambi sentono dove li porterà?
Leggetelo, perché io non ho alcuna intenzione di rivelare nulla.
Lo consiglio a chi ha voglia di una storia leggera, scorrevole e delicata e che non ceda il passo a scene troppo “volgari” come spesso accade, anche se devo ammettere che dopo un inizio molto coinvolgente mi è venuta a mancare quel non so che, per apprezzarlo fino in fondo.
Nel complesso è stata comunque una lettura piacevole.

Xander is an Artist/Professor who is struggling to find his artistic rhythm and muse while working on new pieces to showcase. He was confident in certain aspects of his life while also unsure and critical in other aspects. He had grumpy moments aswell as sweet and oh so sexy moments while finding a new perspective with his art
Kate was a conflicted student who recently switched to studying art over premed like her parents wanted for her. She was trying to find a way to persue her passions while breaking out of her comfort zone and finding the courage to stand up for what she wants in her life. She was strong, resilient, kind, caring, passionate and funny
Xander and Kate had an instant attraction towards each, amazing chemistry, they complimented each other nicely and the constant back and forth between switching roles of who was teaching whom helped with the natural progression of their relationship and it felt true to their passionate artistic personalities. This was such a quick and easy read and I enjoyed it a lot

This was an enjoyable read. This is a student-teacher relationship story following the romance of Xander (the professor) and Kate (the student). The story is not your typical student-teacher relationship because she is technically not his student. Kate signed up for posing as a model for an art class that Xander was subbing for the day. Xander is an artist and a professor at LA CAD, an art school. Kate is the daughter of a senate who dropped out of premed at UCLA to pursue her passions by attending LA CAD. Xander wants Kate to pose for him as a model in order to complete 10 pieces in 6 weeks for his exhibition. During the process, they fall in love. Their romance is cute. One character I really liked besides the leads was Hunter, Kate’s older brother. He was awesome. Also, he was really supportive of Kate and what she wanted to do with her life. The ending was sweet. I also read the extended epilogue on the author’s site and it wrapped the story beautifully. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series. Overall, a great read.

My first read from this author, won't be my last since I just went on a one-click spree and grabbed all of her books! I totally enjoyed this quick, cute, full of tension and want romantic read. It always boggles my brain when an author can grab me by the reader balls within a few pages and keep my FULL attention in a short period of time. A full story, the whole she-bang packed in a novella like setting. LOVE IT. Wish I could find more reads like this. Jenna Hartley has a new fan in ME. On to the next book. xo

I love a student/teacher romance, and this one delivered. In that first chapter when Kate posed nude for the class while Xander watched her, my heart was racing the entire time. This was a powerful story about standing up for yourself and overcoming obstacles in life, especially with the right person by your side. This was my first read by Jenna, and won't be my last! I've been seeing her all over Instagram and am now a fan!

But I read it because I haven't read this author before. It's a quick novella and I wanted to see what her writing was like.

Jenna Hartley arriva in Italia con una serie forbidden molto accattivante, la Love in LA Series, e a inaugurarla c’è una novella più che un libro vero e proprio. I protagonisti sono un professore d’arte e la sua musa, Xander e Kate.
Kate Pruitt è figlia di un senatore e di un erede di un brand di lusso molto famoso. Dovrebbe frequentare l’UCLA e diventare una rispettosa dottoressa ma la sua passione, all’insaputa dei genitori, è un’altra, quella più estrosa e meno onorevole, l’arte. È una modella alle prime armi quando, durante una lezione di disegno dal vero, si imbatte in un professore giovane e terribilmente affascinante.
‘Era stupenda e avevo voglia di disegnarla, di vedere di più di lei. Per la prima volta da settimane, forse anche mesi, mi sentii… ispirato.’
Xander Kline sta sostituendo un professore alla CAD, college of art and design, di Los Angeles quando spera di ritrovare l’ispirazione e completare finalmente le venti tavole che dovrà esporre ad una mostra. Suo fratello gemello e manager Theo lo sta pressando affinché termini il lavoro il prima possibile ma lui non riesce a sbloccarsi e a tornare a dipingere. Un brutto infortunio al polso mesi prima aveva minato la sua carriera ma la fiducia in se stesso è ormai persa e irrimediabilmente.
Riuscirà la sua nuova musa a risvegliare il suo estro prima ancora che gli ormoni si mettano di mezzo trascinandoli in una liaison tutt’altro che professionale?

Hanno dieci anni di differenza ma sono affini e l’aiuto che apporterà Kate sarà fondamentale per Xander.
Li ho trovati carini ma la storia non è particolarmente ricca di pathos, l’inesperienza di Kate soprattutto nell’ambito sessuale sarà colmata dalla prestanza del suo amato professore.
‘Non volevo solo disegnarla. Volevo consumarla.’
Kate è un personaggio un po’ troppo debole, la sua energia pare affievolirsi quando si tratta di perseguire i suoi sogni davanti ai genitori intransigenti, mentre Xander non è un progonista particolarmente dominante, nel complesso è una storia di veloce e facile lettura.
Mi riprometto di leggere gli altri capitoli della serie che dalle trame risultano molto interessanti sperando in una scrittura più matura e coinvolgente da parte della scrittrice.

Kate has decided that she doesn't want to follow her parent's dream for her. She wants to follow her own dream which means dropping out of med school and enrolling in art school. Only she doesn't tell anyone in her family. In immersing herself into art school she signs up to be a nude model only to put herself into the sites of a famous artist - Alexander Kline aka Xander who is in need of a muse and it is quiet awkward that his new muse just so happens to be a student at the college that he teaches at.
This was a fun and cute book but I didn't really feel much between the characters. It is a novella so there isn't much room to dive deep but I didn't really feel a connection. I felt like there was a lot to both characters that they both deserved the deep dive that we didn't get. For a novella this was a fun slow burn and my first but this author. I love me a forbidden story and the premise to this story was right up my alley but it just didn't hit all the marks for me. I still enjoyed it but it didn't sing to me. I am excited to read the other books by this author.
This was a fun and cute book but I didn't really feel much between the characters. It is a novella so there isn't much room to dive deep but I didn't really feel a connection. I felt like there was a lot to both characters that they both deserved the deep dive that we didn't get. For a novella this was a fun slow burn and my first but this author. Qui, i nostri due protagonisti sono Alexander, un famoso pittore e professore di arte, e Kate, una studentessa.
Kate vuole essere coraggiosa e spavalda, quindi quando le viene offerta la possibilità di fare da modella nuda per un corso di arte, accetta, pensando che sia il modo giusto per vincere i suoi freni emotivi.
Il professore del corso, però, non è quello anziano che si aspettava. Ad aprire la porta dell’aula, invece, è un uomo che la affascina dal primo istante, Alexander. Lui è un pittore che a causa di un incidente avvenuto qualche mese prima non riesce più a dipingere, un po’ per paura, un po’ per mancanza di ispirazione. Quando vede Kate posare nuda, però, si sente di nuovo pronto a provare e non ha nessuna intenzione di farsi scappare la sua nuova musa.
Nonostante le premesse, faccio fatica a definire La prospettiva di te un forbidden romance.
Alexander è un professore, ma Kate non è una sua studentessa e, in più, lui stesso specifica che i rapporti tra insegnanti e studenti non sono vietati in quell’università, a meno che non creino problemi. Questo, però, non vuol dire che sia una lettura meno interessante.
In poche pagine, Jenna Hartley è riuscita a descriverci in modo dettagliato i protagonisti.
Kate mi è piaciuta. Sa bene che cosa vuole e fa di tutto pur di prenderselo, anche se ha qualche remora. Si sta ribellando ai suoi genitori che vorrebbero vederla diventare un medico, ma non ha ancora il coraggio di dire loro la verità sulla nuova direzione della sua vita.
Xander, invece, vuole far di tutto per riuscire a superare il suo incidente al polso. Eppure, non riesce più a dipingere nulla. Ha una mostra da preparare, ma nessun nuovo quadro da esporre. Non demorde, però, e alla fine trova la sua musa in maniera inaspettata e una nuova prospettiva da portare sulla tela.
Ho adorato vederli insieme. Sono entrambi un po’ imbranati e dolci, nonostante Xander voglia apparire come il più maturo. Lo è, per la maggior parte delle volte, ma Kate lo batte in altre. Per questo motivo non ho sentito più di tanto la differenza di età tra i due, anzi, mi sembrava fossero due coetanei. A parte alla sera del gala, lì la differenza si è decisamente notata.
Ho apprezzato anche come, nonostante qualche difficoltà, lui sia stato in grado di aprirsi e mostrare a Kate le fragilità dell’uomo che si nasconde dietro alla tela e come lei sia riuscita a togliergli quel suo blocco emotivo che gli impediva di fare l’unica cosa che veramente ama.
La parte peggiore di questa novella è che è stata troppo corta. Non vediamo troppo Xander e Kate stare insieme come coppia ed è un peccato, perché sono certa sarebbero state delle scene interessanti. Nel totale darei alla novella quattro stelle e non vedo l’ora di leggere qualcos’altro di questa autrice!

Jenna Hartley always surprises me with her brilliant work, but this one really knocked it out of the park. Okay, so here’s the thing. I feel like it’s really difficult to write about drawing…you know what I mean? Art is so visual, it takes a very special type of talent to convey with words what something looks and feels like on canvas. Jenna Hartley does that so well, I almost felt like I was inside this book, painting right alongside our characters. Every adjective that is used to describe the way our leading man, Xander, paints and draws with the help of his muse, Kate, is so poignant. What’s even more special is that the drawings and paintings themselves are left up to the readers imagination. You’re never told what anything really looks like, so these pieces becomes whatever you want them to be. It’s such a smart move from our author.
Xander is an artist that had an accident and broke his wrist. He’s been in recovery but never gained back full function, though he’s been cleared to get back to working on his art. He meets Kate when he subs for a live drawing class that she has volunteered to model for. Yes, it’s sexual chemistry from page one. No joke. Kate just recently began taking classes at this art school after dropping out of med school, unbeknownst to her parents. While slowly falling in love with Xander, Kate constantly fights her nagging guilt about not telling Xander the full truth about her past. It all comes to a screeching halt when Xander shows up unannounced to a gala that Kate and her family are attending, and the truth comes out. It’s devastating and heartbreaking to watch Kate’s life come crumbling down. But with perseverance and strength, Kate fights her way through it and comes out with her very own HEA.
This was a truly special story. I’ve already read Irresistible and Unexpected by Jenna Hartley, so I thought it was about time I read her first book! I was not disappointed in the least. This is another age-gap romance, truthfully, I think these might be my favorite. Whether it’s reverse age-gap or not, I tend to love them. This is a story about rediscovering who you are and finding joy in life even in dark times. It’s perfect for what we’re experiencing in our world today, and it was a great escape for me. Thank you Jenna, for giving us another beautiful love story! 5 stars!

I love age gap and student teacher romances and this one did not disappoint! Perspective was my first read by Jenna Hartley, and I loved this introduction to the Love in LA series.
Kate Pruitt wants to step out of her comfort zone, so she signs up to model for a live drawing class at her school. Which is where she meets Alexander Kane, a professor at the school, and local artist.
Alexander Kane is struggling to find the inspiration he needs to complete the final pieces for his upcoming art exhibition. When he first lays eyes on Kate, he knows right away that he needs her to model for him, to be his muse.
Even though this was a novella, it was long enough to give me enough of the characters to where I felt like I really knew them as individuals and then together as a couple, but I could definitely use an epilogue for Kate and Xander (maybe we get a glimpse of them in Irresistible?!). I absolutely loved them! They have an instant attraction and pull towards each other, tons of sexual tension, and their relationship was quick to start. They fall fast and hard. They have a strong bond over their love for art. They were both able to build confidence in each other and swapped the student teacher role throughout the book, which was cute.

Kate is in pre-med at UCLA when she discovers the Art school, LA CAD, and decides to enroll. She is pushing herself out of her comfort zone when she decides to pose nude for a life drawing class.
That’s where she meets Professor Alexander Kline, renowned artist and 10 years her senior. As Professor Kline (or Xander) is simply covering for the instructor, who had a heart attack moments earlier, in the hall, “Xander’s” heart is also attacked when he first lays eyes on Kate Pruitt. What we don’t realize is that Xander is a man with a secret. He needs a muse to help him create 10 new paintings in 6 weeks for his new show.
Kate is amiable in public and with her family, while Xander is commanding. But when they get together, roles reverse. Kate is a spicy, assertive match to Xander, while Xander is vulnerable as he reveals his secret.
I found this book to be a wonderful quick read with plenty of steam. I delighted in the story woven together by Jenna Hartley and recognize she has a great career ahead of herself. It’s a quick read since it’s a novella but well written with lots of explanation and backstory.

Questa è la prima volta che leggo un romanzo rosa in due lingue diversi. Anche se parlo fluentemente inglese e italiano, leggo raramente in italiano. Questo libro cambia tutto, leggero altri per il puro piacere di farlo. Non posso dirvi quanto mi è piaciuto leggerlo in italiano. La storia d'amore proibita di Xander e Kate è stata avvincente tanto in italiano quanto in inglese e anche se avevo già letto la loro storia più volte, è stata comunque una piacevole sorpresa.
Xander è un artista di successo. È un maestro in quello che fa, finché un incidente sugli sci non lo lascia con un infortunio che mette a rischio la sua carriera. Kate è una brava ragazza. Nata in una famiglia privilegiata e socialmente connessa, la sua vita è pianificata per lei. Sta morendo dentro. Quando queste due anime spezzate si incontrano, cambia tutto in modi che ti commuoveranno.
Consiglio vivamente di leggere questo libro e di perdersi nelle sue pagine.

Kate our heroine who drop her med school, to follows her dream as a art artist, and Xander our sexy and charming Professor,who after a wrist accident, have hard time to continue to draw.
After meeting these two the spark between them,immediately caught fire. Xander finally find his muse in Kate and he melt my heart,which how he was drawn to her.The attraction and chemistry between was over the top immediately from the beginning and I really enjoy they’re story. They was definitely the sweetest couple ever!

It was a quick easy read. There is a bit of drama, but everything goes back to normal pretty quickly too. I felt this story was rushed. I did not feel the same level of connection that I did with the other characters. This story felt repetitive. It is my least favorite of this series.

I'm not a huge fan of professor/student romances, but this one sounded intriguing so I thought I'd give it a try! Overall, I thought it was cute and I loved how Kate and Xander built a connection through art--which is a passion for them, but also causing them both trouble in different ways. There was one part of this story that made me a little uncomfortable (the mixture of posing, offering of wine, her being 20), but other than that, I really liked the overall story. It was fleshed out well for a novella, which made me dive into the whole series!

Perspective is a wonderful novella from new writer Jenna Hartley. The story might be short but it expertly packs in a myriad of elements. We have the taboo relationships of age-gap and student/teacher. If you aren’t sure if you would like those romance tropes then this is the perfect story for you as I felt each taboo was very mild.
I liked that this book was told by both Kate and Xander’s point of view. Each character wasn’t confined to their designated role either, for example at times Kate is the teacher and Xander is the student. Overall I found this story to be passionate and in a way sensual. Hartley has a way of transporting you into the story, making you feel each piece of art and the beautiful lines the pieces contain. If you’re looking for a short and sweet, medium burn romance then this is a great story for you!
