Seducing the Enemy was just the right mix of romance, the love/hate variety and witty humor. Throw in some Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice mentions and I’ve got my kind of read!
Marietta Edwards spent thirteen years in a wheelchair after a tragic accident that killed her sister. After many surgeries she regained her ability to walk two years ago, but still lives a cautious life. She’s had a limited love life and so at twenty-five she intends to rectify that. At the urging of her best friend they go to a nightclub with the purpose of honing her flirting skills. She captures the attention of Harrison Damon, and his good looks and intensity captures hers as well. Little does Marietta know that she is flirting with the enemy. His cousin, Michael was the driver in that horrible accident that took so much away. Harrison just happens to be lead council on the team that is constantly fighting her family’s lawsuit against the Damon’s.
Harrison is just checking on one of the family’s nightclubs when he spies Marietta, a girl who seems completely oblivious to his identity and wealth. She’s seems just as affected and intensely attracted to him:
Harrison was mesmerized by her lovely face—warm, amused, sincere, utterly real. The urge to kiss her was so overwhelming he no longer resisted.
They end up spending the night together; a hot and passionate night, and Harrison wants more! Well, that’s until their identities become known. Harrison’s convinced that Marietta and her family somehow set the whole thing up, and he’s ticked! He’s even more upset when she shows up at the family estate and his uncle invites her to stay to settle everything.
Marietta was such a breath of fresh air. I have to say I loved the sweet and playful humor that Marietta exhibited even during some steamy moments. Not one to sulk about her history, she just wants to put things behind her and get her grandfather to settle. She’s mortified and angry that Harrison thinks she would actually stoop so low to manipulate the situation. But as they spend time together both of their opinions soften.
Harrison was guarded and suspicious at first. In spite of that he showed so much care and empathy for Marietta. He really was a sweet man under all that armor! Their gradual shift from hate to love was a pleasure to experience.
Noelle Adams’ brand of romance and writing is something I want to experience again, so I’m thrilled that we get another story. This time is centers on Harrison’s brother, Andrew: Playing the Playboy . Can’t wait!

I am kicking myself not listening to this author works. Oh how stupid i am! Seducing enemy is my first read by miss Adams. And it is a very delightful story. Full of sweetness. My heart is singing with such joy. And i think i am drowned in so much giddy over this book.
The story of enemy to lover is not something new. But the Harrison and Marietta make the book shine. The story itself is short and again, sweet. The climax is perfect. The pace is perfect. Not over the top annoying and dragging. The character development is perfect, especially Marietta. Oh such a sassy heroine. She does not take any beating from Harrison.
And Harrison himself is such brooding with dry humor. Such a perfect combination.

This was a fast read but it was filled with everything I enjoy in a romance. Insta attraction is always a must but neither of these characters realize who it is they’re attracted to. The lovers to enemies back to lovers kept me on my toes and I loved every moment of it.
Marrietta had survived an incident and a condition that highlighted her strength and resiliency. She was such a ray of sunshine but wow, when she got her dander up she was more than capable of holding her own with anyone that needed setting straight. I loved her sharp wit and ability to make Harrison laugh.
Harry had his own struggles when it came to his family and job. He was the fixer and yet no one recognized that he needed his own fixing. I hurt for the burdens he carried and what he forced himself to do to stay on top of it all.
This had the perfect combination of humor and angst. The steamier moments were limited but holy heck when this couple gave in to their desires, they set fire to my kindle! The resolution to this couple’s separation was AMAZING due to all the emotions and the total swoon worthiness of Harrison in his effort to win his woman. Overall, a delicious read in every way!

This is one short romantic comedy read that I adored. I finished it up in one afternoon with delightful smile on my face.
Marietta Edwards used to be wheel-chair bound since she was 10 and recently just recovered from her spinal injury due to a car accident that killed her sister. After some persuading from a friend, she went to a club to try out her flirting skill, but ended up having a great one night stand with the totally charming Harrison Damon.
However, the next day, they both found out their family were both at odds due to the accident that happened 15 years ago. Marietta's grandpa still haven't agree with a settlement with the Damon's family and the legal matters have been drag on for too long.
When Harrison found out about Marietta's true identity, he totally freaked out and the first thing that crossed his mind was this woman was trying to scheme him for more money. He can't believe he had been deceived by a woman yet again.
I found Marietta to be such a nice and down to earth heroine who isn't a drama queen. Despite both the families fall out, she still want everyone to find closure and happiness. She loves literature and had a thing with words that fascinate me. Although Harrison acted like a total douche in the beginning, she understand where he was coming from and tried to know him as a Damon who dedicated his life for his family.
"We're not living in a Victorian novel where family issues should keep us apart."
There were many faces to Harrison. He was a total charmer in the beginning, and then turned aloof, stoic and harsh after finding out about Marietta identity, then turned caring and swoon worthy when he got to know the real Marietta. He had a great sense of responsibility when it came to his family.
Most of the story took place at the Damon's manor during Marietta week long stay there, which make me felt like I'm reading a historical, especially with Harrison's uncle who still practice some of the 18th century custom. This is a standalone with a HEA, though I did felt the ending was too abrupt without an epilogue.

What happens when the guy you give your virginity to and the guy you supposed to hate is the only guy that you want?
Marietta Edwards has lost her childhood and her teens. She couldn't walk for years because of an accident. Now 15 somewhat years later she is back on her feet. While her family is still fighting a legal battle with the other drivers family about the accident, Marietta decides she needs to have fun and LIVE.
At a bar she meets a handsome sexy stranger whom she ends up breaking her virginity with only to find out the next day he is a Damon and close family to the driver who killed her sister and cost her a big part of her life.
She's supposed to hate him right?
So Harrison Damon is supposed to hate her too. Or that's what he tells himself.
When Marietta goes to sort the legal battle out once and for all with the Damon's she ends up staying with them for a week.
As much as they supposed to hate each other Marietta and Harrison can't fight the feelings they have...
So the rest is history....
This book is a quick read with a HEA if hat's what you looking for!

3 stars. I got this book for free from the author’s newsletter, which is a great reason to sign up! This is the second book she has sent out with her newsletter in the very short time I’ve been subscribed.
This is a bit of a convoluted tale, about the heroine who was injured in a car accident when she was a child. That car accident also killed her sister, and the driver of the car, who was the hero’s cousin. The heroine couldn’t walk for years until a surgery fixed her issues and she ended up as good as new. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 She goes out to a club with a friend, and decides that she wants to seduce a man. Ofc the man she picks is the hero, who is also a bitter rival to her family after the accident. They have a ONS and the next day realize each other’s identities… at which point the hero basically tells a room full of people about how he and the heroine had sex the night before, and accuses her of trying to seduce him for leverage and money. The rest of the book is just as convoluted, and the hero repeatedly treats the heroine poorly, and she repeatedly comes running back to him.
I thought this story would have been a lot better of not for the heroine being a complete and total pushover when it came to the hero. He treated her like trash repeatedly, and she allowed all of it and didn’t even make him grovel at the end! The thing is, the heroine had a very sweet personality otherwise, and I loved her character overall. But being a nice person with a sweet disposition doesn’t mean she also can’t expect to be treated better! This story was good, but also very frustrating.
They do eventually get a HFN ending, but I just hated that she didn’t even make him grovel. Also, why is the hero’s grandfather such a huge ass at the end? This part of the story made ZERO sense to me.

I scanned a few reviews and decided to give it a try.
After I read it I concluded one thing: I didn't like this book at all.
I thought the story line would be somewhat refreshing and I do enjoy enemies who turn to lovers. Unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me.
Here's why:
The hero is such an ass.
I may have liked him for about three pages in the beginning of the book.
Then he turned into such a cruel, arrogant, paranoid person. After finding out who Marietta is, he swears she's hiding something and therefore, whatever it is, it will ultimately harm him or his family.
Another thing was the way he treated Marietta. He insulted her and humiliated her in front of whoever was present.
He surely won my heart after calling her a whore in front of her grandfather. When she was far from being a slut.
Had I been her, he'd have never heard from me again. But, of course, if that were to happen, where does the story leaves us?
Marietta. Our heroine, she was ok. Not great and not very smart either. She's suppose to hate Harrison's family but she accepts to be their guest in their house for a week. Who does that? Especially after the way Harrison treated her?
I didn't like how the author made her look 'silly' and immature. She's twenty five for God's sake.
and her last flaw...her weakness. She knows Harrison has been an asshole to her but when he kisses her, she gives in. What the hell? Where is your backbone lady?
Had Harrison not stopped (because he came to his senses and realized what a selfish and lying schemer and gold-digging extortionist she really is) they would have jump to bed as if they were lovers and not 'enemies'.
That's another issue with this book. It seems that only Harrison is enemies with Marietta and not the other way around. When it was Marietta's sister who was killed by Harrison's cousin's reckless driving.
I also believe this book was suppose to be...funny? I'm sorry but it wasn't to me. If anything it sounded childish and very disconcerting since they're not teenagers. Anyway, I just wanted to put it out there.
The only good thing about this book is the short length. I finished it in two hours. I did skipped some, there were times I couldn't stand Marietta's daydreaming about Harrison.

Despite the 15 year enmity between the families of the H/h, this is a sweet, light-hearted story with an uptight H and a sunny heroine. Not what I was expecting from Noelle, who usually gives a more moody and introspective read. I guess it's because it's for the Entangled imprint?
Anyway, I am a big fan of Noelle so I liked it. About a 3.5.
If it was by anyone else, I would rate it a 3 tho.

While I enjoyed the story, I didn't love it. I didn't connect with the couple as I had hoped. I didn't feel the real love connection between the two either.
Harrison, while he could be sweet at times, sure did have a mean streak. He was bitter and jaded a lot of the story and so this story centered a lot on his suspicions of Etta once he learns of her identity. Even though his words were harsh and cruel at times, his actions spoke different words. It took him a while to stop being an idiot.
I would have liked Harrison to have apologized for his behavior for a good portion of the book. However, unless I was blind, I didn't see one from him.
I didn't like how Etta always forgave so easily and didn't ask for an apology or hold back and make him work a little for her affections. She was a good heroine, and I understand at times why she let some things go, but his words were cruel and cutting way too often to easily forgive him.
Over all I enjoyed the story, the secondary cast and the ending. I liked being in both, Harrison and Etta's, minds. I did find the story a little too short and would have liked more happier times with the couple.

אחרי שנים רבות שהייתה בכיסא גלגלים ועברה ניתוחים רבים, בעקבות תאונה קטלנית בה הייתה מעורבת, ובה אחותה הגדולה נהרגה, מריאטה סוף סוף יכולה ללכת. ברכב נהג מייקל דמון, אחיין של חבר טוב (לשעבר) של סבא שלה, שגם נהרג בתאונה, ומאז שתי המשפחות נמצאות בסכסוך משפטי. היא יוצאת עם חברה למועדון לילה במטרה לפתות שם גבר זר ולבלות איתו. לאחר לילה לוהט ביחד, היא מגלה שהגבר הזר והחתיך הוא למעשה הריסון דמון, בן למשפחה שגרמה לטרגדיה שפקדה את משפחתה. הריסון, מצידו, חושב שמריאטה היא שקרנית ונוכלת שפיתתה אותו בכוונה כחלק ממזימה הקשורה להסכם הפשרה בין המשפחות.
אני בדרך כלל אוהבת את הכתיבה של נואל אדאמס, אבל העלילה פה הייתה קצת יותר מידי טלנובלה בשבילי.

3.5 stars. Quick read. This book was a short one, regarding a one night stand between two strangers Etta and Harry. The morning after? They learn they are enemies by defect. And they are actually Marietta Edwards and Harrison Damon.
Their families have been in dispute for 15 years over a car accident involving Etta and her sister, and a boy who was a Damon.
Harry thinks he was duped by Etta and it sets him off. Negotiations stop between the families. Etta sets out to prove that she didn't know Harry when they slept together.
They spend 2 weeks together at the Damon estate. Sparks are still flying. They have a huge attraction but Harry tries to fight it. But Etta is a sincere woman with good intentions and the Damon's are forced to realize this.
The truth comes out regarding the accident. Harry makes a jack ass of hisself. Etta has a heart of gold.
This is a good read if your looking for something quick. A filler. A hea.

This one was probably the most dramatic I've yet read from Noelle. The story was great - it was angsty, which I didn't expect in the first place, but it was exciting at least from the start. Sadly, I felt like the potential of a a great story was wasted . It wasn't necessarily the plot, but more of the depth (or shallowness) of the writing. It was shallow, where it could have been deep and really have a big affect on the reader. Unfortunately, it felt more like reading a regular harlequin story, and that's a bummer. 😔

3.25 Forgettable Stars
I liked the heroine in this book, but the hero was meh. Also, her recovery (from being paralyzed) was not believable at all. The overall storyline was farfetched, even for a romance. I'm not sure I'll continue with this series, this was not a great start.

It seems like I need a Noelle Adams story every few weeks and this proved to be a great escape. A one night stand and then discovering your families are enemies the next day in the very worst way? Sign me up! I did have to hand wave away some logistical inconsistencies, like But whatever. There’s a certain amount of Romance Reasons to this plot that you have to either roll with or it’s best to quit while you’re ahead.
Ultimately, I got swept away by Marietta and Harrison’s plight. Once they realize who each other is, Harrison was incredibly mean and we don’t fully learn the reason behind his reaction until much later. Even with that knowledge, it leaned too hard in a misogynist direction for me to completely warm back up to him, though he did wind up taking pretty excellent care of her in other ways while he was resisting his feelings. On the other hand, I couldn’t understand why she kept forgiving him so quickly and accepted such poor behavior. There’s being a sunshine character and then there’s being a Mary Sue. Her characterization didn’t add up entirely and that’s before factoring in the questionable disability rep.
Marietta was paralyzed after a car accident when she was 10 years old. After 13 years of surgeries, she was able to walk again. Two years have passed since then. We’re not given much information about her injury or the road to recovery, much less the odds of healing from a spinal cord injury so I had to assume it was reasonably, albeit unlikely, in this case. The kicker for me was the way everyone talks about what Marietta went through and how inspirational she was. It felt extremely ableist to me. I’m able-bodied so I’ll defer to disabled reviewers.
This story easily could have been expanded further, especially the duty vs. love elements. The escalating feelings would have made more sense and it would have given Marietta more time to deal with her PTSD and panic attacks. I was relieved Harrison pushed her to start counseling in the end—I was not pleased with her grandfather for never having done this at any point after the accident.
All this probably makes it sound like I didn’t like the story all that much but that’s not the case. It’s not one of my favorites from this author but it still made me cry. I genuinely liked Marietta and I wanted Harrison to be a better man for her. With a few tweaks and more development, it would have been stronger.

Harrison is a workaholic but sometimes work is not everything. Life is so precious that everyone needs to enjoy it because you just don’t know what could happen. One day your life is there then the next it might be gone.
When I started reading this story it was actually captivating. I could not believe how naïve Marietta “Etta” was but then again after what she went through I could comprehend. Then there was Harrison a man that couldn’t bring himself away from work. The part that I could not understand was that his brother was more than capable to help him; there is a thing called delegating. That is a word I know every well. I know that he felt that he needed to do everything himself but come on he couldn’t have the whole business on his shoulders. I enjoyed the storyline and I found myself tearing up once or twice with certain circumstances.
Marietta “Etta” Edwards was a lovely young woman that had not yet experienced life. When she was thirteen years old she and her sister were in an awful accident. Her sister, Melissa, passed away along with the driver of the vehicle. Etta lived a very sheltered life and she had gone through so many surgeries to repair her spine. Finally the last surgery she had worked and she was able to walk again she was finally able to leave her wheelchair. The last two years she was still dealing with life and now she was going into a club to seduce a man. She had no idea what she was doing but she was going to do her best and use her new found flirting skills.
Harrison Damon as I said was a workaholic and I couldn’t believe when I was reading this story what he was doing in a club. He was actually on his tablet working, come on could he actually concentrate. While he was working someone actually fell on top of him but he didn’t really pay attention at first. Then he saw her dancing and he could take his eyes of her. His brother had given him a hard time about him not seeing anyone after he broke his engagement and I couldn’t blame him. What was done to him was uncalled for but that doesn’t mean that every woman is like that.
So Harrison and Etta end up leaving together and they have a very memorable night together. The passion that they felt was hot but soon that became passion full of anger. When Harrison finds out who Etta is he could not believe it, he said some hurtful things to Etta and believe me Etta should have punched him. He didn’t even give her the chance to explain to him that she had no idea who he was. After the accident Etta didn’t want to know anything about the Damon family, she didn’t read the magazines articles of the Damon family and when they came on the TV she would turn it off or switch the channel. Only that Etta is not going to leave it like this she is going to the Damon estate and clear up the situation.
Seducing the Enemy was a very passionate, emotional read that I loved. I liked Ms. Adams’s writing style and her writing is clear and focused. The characters were well developed and they seemed so real. I loved how sweet and humorous Marietta was. Then there is Harrison, he needed to loosen up and have a little bit of fun. It was not going to hurt any if he gave more responsibilities to his brother. I love that he took it upon himself to further investigate the accident in which his cousin was killed. The part that I didn’t like was that he judged Etta without really knowing her assuming that she was like his ex-fiancé. The passion between Harrison and Marietta is explosive. They were mean to be together even if Harrison was being an asshat.
I totally recommend this read to any reader that loves humor, sweetness, passion in their romance stories. I look forward for more reads by Ms. Adams.

In this first of the Heirs of Damon series, we have the delightful romance between Marietta and Harrison. Sharing a one night stand that is memorable for both of them, the real world crashes down upon them when they realize they are on opposite ends of the bargaining table over an accident caused by Harrison's cousin that claimed Marietta's sister, and the use of her legs for 15 years. Is there a chance for these two to reclaim the feelings of their night together in spite of the odds?
I quite enjoyed this enemies to lovers tale - or in this case lovers to enemies to lovers again. Harrison is a determined, forthright businessman who is swept away by Marietta's charms only to feel that he has been deceived by her when he finds out who she really is. Having previously experienced a relationship in which trust was broken, his difficulty in believing Marietta's claims is understandable but no less difficult for Marietta to understand. Marietta is on the outside a strong, capable woman, back on her feet after years of surgery from her accident as a young child. However she still suffers PTSD from the accident and tries valiantly to look to the future while coping with the past. Harrison represents to her both her past and what could be her future. There is a good amount of sexual tension between them and the love scenes are emotional and steamy. As the trust develops between them, so too does the emotional attachment and the romance between them is believable and enjoyable to read.
The secondary characters play an important role, introducing us to others in the Damon family that will get their own stories in the series. The interactions between them added a good amount of humour and tension to the story. Overall I found this to be an entertaining and wonderful romantic story with a great cast of characters. Following several surgeries she has now recovered, and after so many years she wants to live her life to the full, and has come to a club to see if she can attract a man...
Harrison is checking the facilities at a club his family owns when a sexy blonde catches his eye. He really shouldn't let himself get distracted, as he'll need to keep his wits about him for the following day, when he'll be meeting to try and agree a settlement for a long-running legal battle with his uncle's former business partner for a long-ago car crash...
Marietta is sweet, genuine, and amusing, although a bit too nice. Harrison is a bit too alpha-male some of the time for my taste, but he seemed nice enough when he wasn't being an arse, either generally, or specifically towards Marietta because of his misinterpretation of her motives. Marietta doesn't appear to hold a grudge at all and she forgives him much more readily than he deserves!
There were a number of instances of behaviour that I didn't really feel was plausible and although the author provides explanation I still didn't see some things as being likely to happen. Also, I'd have liked there to be more of a basis for their feelings for each other, aside from their chemistry, to see their relationship develop, as I felt that it happens too quickly. Aside from these quibbles, I found this book to be an enjoyable quick read.

This is the first book I have read by Ms Adams. I was hooked from the very first chapter to continue to read this story. It is well written; the plot is fast moving and and engaging; the characters well developed and likable.
This is not a run of the mill love story. It calls attention to what responsibility to family pride vs responsibility to oneself means. It also deals with the ethics of winning and remaining honest.
I particularly liked one character - Gordon, the butler. He is the "Upstairs, Downstairs" type of butler- unobtrusive, capable, alert to his "people's" needs, and deeply loyal. The journal that he keeps giving to Harrison so he can write his lists, his thoughts, so he can cope with his feelings, is the catalyst to resolving the problem at hand.
This is a great book to read. Enjoy the ride!

I particularly liked one character - Gordon, the butler. He is the "Upstairs, Downstairs" type of butler- unobtrusive, capable, alert to his "people's" needs, and deeply loyal. The journal that he keeps giving to Harrison so he can write his lists, his thoughts, so he can cope with his feelings, is the catalyst to resolving the problem at hand.
This is a great book to read. Enjoy the ride!

This was my first read by Noelle Adams and I really enjoyed it!
It was a rather quick read and kept me interested the entire time!
The beginning was very cute and quickly turned steamy.
The attraction between Harrison and Marietta was instant.
When the proverbial "shit" hit the fan... things got complicated and things snowballed from there!
It was cute, sweet and charming.
I read other reviews exclaiming their distaste for Harrison, claiming he's an asshole.
He may have acted so, but he was also a guarded and very proud man. He was protecting himself and his family and I thought he was awesome!

Once again, I am not a fan of the one-night-stand trope. Insta-lust turns love is a tough sell. However, I can usually count on Noelle Adams to deliver a solidly-developed relationship. Unfortunately, this story suffered from a long, sluggish middle. I did not really care for the family conflict (I found it a little dumb, frankly) and Harrison remained mysterious from beginning to end (that's not supposed to happen to the hero!)
Hoping the other books in the series get better!

Seducing the enemy 4.5
Enemy to lover is not my usual go to trope.
However this one quickly drew me in, Seeing the connection and attraction Marietta and Harrison have. Also seeing what makes them enemies, and the fact that they can’t seem to stay away from one another. There were parts of this story that mad me sad, but overall it was a fun loving, sweet romance, that definitely left me feeling happy. There is not really anything I did not like about this book. I loved all of the characters, even though one sometimes got on my nerves, and I loved the storyline. I am looking forward to more from the Heirs of Damon series!

There is nothing a classic romance can't solve! After being in that torturous (that's how it felt like!) 3 stars reading slump last month and trying all kinds of different reads to get out of it, all I needed was a pure, heartwarming, full of drama love story to remind me why I was a hopeless romantic in the first place. Seducing The Enemy did exactly that! It was addicting, highly entertaining and overall, a fun, romantic book that I was craving for a long time. On another note, I don't know why I stopped reading these Entangled romances, Kiss, Brazen and Indulgence were my go-to imprints for those fluttering, romantic reads and I really missed them in the past 4-5 months. Well now I'm back on track and hopefully, I won't slack!
Seducing The Enemy is a story about family rivalry, forbidden romance and buried secrets. Marietta and Harrison's family are stuck in a decade long court battle which started when Marietta and 2 other passengers were involved in an accident than left her paralyzed from the waist down and soul survivor of that tragedy. The driver was a Damon and the other passenger was Marietta's older sister which means that both families lost someone in that accident, one more than the other, but the sad part about this whole scenario was that instead of getting to mutual agreement and moving on, both the families were insistent on blaming one another for the accident and none of them seemed interested in finding out the real truth behind it. The whole indifference left Marietta and Harrison at a bad place when it came to trust and loyalty and overall made their life, in every literal sense, a constant battle and a living hell.
Marietta and Harrison met in a club, were unaware of each other's identity, hit it off pretty well, had attraction that could be termed as insta but felt more natural and "meant to be" like to me and all in all, their story had classic, a little cliched, drama filled romance written all over it and not surprisingly, I loved every bit of it! I love when people have to fight for their love and go through hurdles to prove that they can be together and achieve that happily ever after that everyone talks about, that's the beauty of classic romance and that's what makes me root for real love all the time. Seducing the Enemy brought out the romance addict in me and made me feel all those fluttery feelings that I haven't felt in a long run. In simple words, Marietta and Harrison's story made me fall in love with pure romance all over again. This is what I was missing and I'm so glad to have experienced it.
And if my use of words like love and romance a millions time in this review hasn't given any indication, then I don't know what will. Seducing The Enemy was an unplanned, random read that I requested from Negalley just because, but I never expected it to be this good. I strongly recommend fans of contemporary romance to buy this book ASAP. You won't regret it!
