Welcome to Nailz, a tattoo and piercing parlor where the staff support each other fiercely.
Several years ago, piercer Will had his heart and trust broken by the man who was supposed to love and care for him best—his Dom. Still a sub at heart, he’s nonetheless taken a vow to stay away from Doms. Doing so hasn’t really been that much of a hardship, but then Rick—who is all Dom—walks into the shop.
Rick’s a successful, confident man, who also happens to be a Dom. While he’s experienced, he’s never found the right man to take on as a permanent sub, as a lover—he’s never found his sub. Then he walks into Nailz to get his nipples pierced and everything changes.
The attraction between the two men is immediate and undeniable, but while Rick recognizes the potential they have together and is ready to explore it, Will doesn’t know if he can let go of his past to grab hold of a future with Rick.
Can Rick and Will find their happy ever after together? Find out in this first book of a new series by Sean Michael.
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
I enjoyed this book. The BDSM is pretty light. Although they talked about heavier things (such as Rick fisting Will) they didn’t do them. I also thought that the book was a little too sweet at times.
So why did I give this book 4 stars? I loved Will. To look at him everyone assumed he was a Dom. He’s big and pierced and has a long beard, but inside he’s a soft hearted sweet sub. I also loved that Rick saw it right away and not didn’t it bother him, but he loved it. I did too.
Way too lovey dovey, too easy, too insta-lovey for my liking. The BDSM in here is basically lots of talk and close to no act. The "he's perfect" and "oh, i would love him to be my master/boy" loop bored me soon enough and I had to push myself through the second half. Disappointing.
It has been a minute since I read a Sean Michael's book and it was a little better than the last one. The storyline was uniquely Sean, Dom/ sub / BDSM undertones but what made me think he still needs works is the dialogue that Will spoke. It sounded childish and not natural for a grown ass man. Rick's dialogue was just a little bit better but not by much. Unsure why he does this to his books. If he can fix his dialogue his stories would be excellent.
Will had been badly hurt by his previous Master and after starting to recover from the break-up had a firm “no Doms” rule. When Rick walks through Will’s doors looking for some nipple piercings Will can tell immediately that the chemistry between them is smoking hot and totally mutual. The only problem is Rick is clearly a Master through and through and Will isn’t sure he’s ready for that level of hurt again.
I really enjoyed this full length story. While on one level the story is absolutely revolving around Will and Rick getting to know each other and exploring their new relationship and the BDSM lifestyle, there is so much emotion and subtleties going on I really feel the story is so much more than that. I found a strong current throughout the book about two people learning to bounce back from pain and learning to trust again, to explore their own needs and desires. While there’s plenty of hot sex – and some of it pretty kinky to boot – I was delighted to find there is a strong element equaling this kink and heat of learning to trust again, to listening to your intuition and being strong enough to reach out and grab what you want.
As the title and blurb clearly indicates, there is plenty in the story about the BDSM lifestyle, about various piercings, toys and non-traditional elements, but I was really glad that even though these are all quite prominent, I strongly feel they weren’t added for shock value or to simply amp up the kink-value of the story. Will is clearly into the lifestyle and I found this aspect of the story to be tastefully written and clearly added with care. It won’t suit all readers, but I’d strongly urge readers intrigued or wanting to dab a toe into these sorts of literary waters would find this an interesting, realistic and tasteful place to start.
I also absolutely loved the very strongly written secondary characters. I have a definite feel that they will be highlighted in future stories – and I am eagerly waiting for just that. These characters – Kel and Nick in particular – added a lot of value to Will and Rick’s story, being supportive and needed in Will’s self-discovery and personal care. I was pleased how much Will’s friends added to his story and grew quite attached to them all.
Sexy and steamy with a delicious streak of kink running through it – this was a brilliant book and one I eagerly devoured. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Fun, sweet and sexy read. I enjoyed it but it didn't wow me - just right for bedtime reading. I'm not sure why it was stated even in the blurb that Will was wary of Doms and relationships since it didn't seem to even slow him down much. Maybe with the trust building but there certainly was no attempt to stop this from being pretty instalovish. Wouldn't have bugged me if it didn't feel like such a contradiction. The relationship build up was very sweetly done with cute date scenes and some getting to know each other time beside the sexy stuff, though there was plenty of that too. I really liked the aspect of Will having body issues about being much bigger and taller than your average sub, since I hadn't read that before. What didn't work for me at all was the ex though. That wasn't explained at all and didn't make any sense to me: They apparently hate each other because Dale thinks he is unsuitable as a sub because of his size - why were they together in the first place? It didn't seem important for most of the story apart from Will's bruised self-confidence though so I was just going to let that slide - but then at the very end Dale reappears for a half a minute to cause some weird unbelievable actiony scene (if you wanna call it that at half a page). That came totally out of left field and it didn't even cause anything needed for the storyline in the end. So why? Overall an enjoyable read though. I'd give four stars for writing style and two for plotting here.
I haven't read a book by this author in a while (because I haven't been the biggest fan), but I thought I would give this one a try. Basically I think I got the same thing as what I've read in the past.
I'm not real big on BDSM, but this I would consider BDSM lite... there was a lot of talk of whipping and fisting (ugh), but thankfully it was all talk.
Speaking of talk... there was a lot of it in this one. Lovey dovey, cheesy small talk that to me got boring very fast. For big, masculine men they sure went for the instalove, saccharine sweet, let me plug my ears cause I can't take it any more sappiness. I'm okay with love at first site and romance, but I found this a bit grating because there was soooo much. The only action (besides the sex) took place near the end of the book and it was such a random (not really very much backstory), way-out-there surprise that by that time I was really ready for the book to end.
I think it'll be a while before I try this author again.
The story itself had a lot of potential. But the writing is what really hurts it. It feels like it was written by a high schooler. I almost DNFd a few times because it was almost unbearable at times but I kept going because I hate leaving things unfinished and I genuinely liked the story. But the writing was just so poor that it killed a lot of the enjoyment for me.
This one was a little too inst-lovey even for me, and I'm all for the suspension of reality in erotica. Third person perspectives switch, unannounced, I got turned around a couple times which is annoying. The writing is just average, with far too much time spent on mundane activities. The best part of the book were the characters, they all seem interesting and fun. I'm not gonna read more of the series though. 2 typos, several messed up sentences.
This book was a little better than some of the author’s novellas. Still, I found the writing to have repetitive paragraphs and the dialogue to be overworked. I find this author starts fairly strong but stalls in the middle and often ends unremarkably and/or abruptly. Also, the aftercare for piercing that was mentioned is not accurate. I hope no readers follow the story’s aftercare instructions.
Maybe 2.5 stars but I rounded down due to the writing and the piercing instructions.
What a great start to this new series. Will and Rick's story is full of lust, compassion, caring souls and pure love. This book is as powerful and wonderful as Sean's original Hammer series. I can't wait to read more of the other Nailz submissive stories.
Will and Rick’s story definitely puts a unique twist on Dom/sub dynamics. For Will being able to trust again comes with challenges. For Rick, having a sub whom needs to set the pace requires patience and understanding. Can these two people make their unique circumstances work for them? Grab this one now and find out. I loved it.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the story was a feel good read with just the amount of naughty sexiness. I felt like I just wanted to hangout with Will all day. Rick was so endearing yet had just the right amount of pushy Dom for me. I also just dint want the story to end just yet. I felt like I could read about these two men forever. Just a great read.
I love the world building for this new series. We also get to really get to know Rick and Will. Will has been through so much but Rick seems to know what he needs and is able to give him the care and kink he needs.
Once again this author gives us an amazing book and beginning of a series. Full of heat and love and healing. And I cant wait for more. Definitely reccomend this or anything else by this author.
This was a good introduction to the Nailz team, and I'm excited to see each of these fun subs meet their Dom. I loved that Rick respected Will and the hangups he had. Rick was perfect as he helped Will begin to see the value in himself.
This is a great start to a new series. It is hot and has a strong BDSM theme but it really shows that love comes in different sizes and to never be ashamed of how you are.
I enjoyed reading Rick & Will’s story. It’s a different twist to Dom/Sub stories that I have previously read. They had an instant attraction to each other. Looking forward to reading the next story in this series. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
What a cute and feel good little story. A lot of heart, a pleasant simple writing, characters that are lovable. Sometimes that's all you need. Also, the food. So much food needed for our 2 big guys and the whole tribe, it was entertaining in itself.
Nope. Not my cup of tea. Insta lust is fine by me, but here it felt wrong and forced, and MCs conversations came out like job interview. Sorry, but did not finish.
The thing I love about this author is the world view...how amazingly caring and sweet the characters and relationships are. Just lovely. And it makes the cheeseyness just fine.
I enjoyed Will and Rick’s story. It’s sweet, low angst, insta-attraction, and just the right amount of naughty. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series
I never read a BDSM erotica that was this vanilla. Like yes for consent and two rational grown ass men having kinky safe sex, but seriously it tasted like flat soda, absloutly no flare.
