Catalyst

Rate this book
Divorced rocket scientist, Chloe Kendall, thought she was nothing out of the ordinary. That was until a terrorist attack caused her to lose her temper. Violent offenders around the world went up in smoke. Literally. A stranger named Raven told her she was a Catalyst, born to bring the magical and mundane realms back into alignment. Obviously, he was crazy, so why did her heart open up to him at a touch? The last thing Raven wanted was romance. What he'd like was obedience but that wasn't Chloe's forte. They would have to find some way to work together because the necromancer, Kerew, had kept himself alive all this time and he had a plan for world domination. All he needed was the Catalyst, living or dead.

Stephanie Barr’s “The Catalyst” is a fun romp for your imagination. It is full of a little bit of everything. There are Dragons and sentient cats, as well as, Necromancers, space shuttles, Magi, unicorns, shapeshifters, djins, and other mythical beasties. But the most hilarious yet endearing members of the group are the drag queens. Yes, men in woman’s clothes that make you shake your head, yet fall in love with their antics all the same. They are the best of manly-woman and keep our heroes on their toes and walking the path to reuniting two separated worlds.

Chloe an unlikely hero who has all her life been the giver that everyone took from, is the Catalyst. All full of magical energy but lost as to how it all works. Raven, the Magi, left behind in a world bereft of mana, magic, to help her find her way. The two meeting breaks your heart and yet makes you laugh as they work their way into realizing that in the end, love is the greatest power of all and with it, anything is possible.

The necromancer tries to tear them apart and use the catalyst as his wellspring for power and domination. But, ultimately he shows both Chloe and Raven what sacrifice and commitment can lead too.

The story has subplots within subplots and just keeps you laughing while guessing at every turn.

A wonderful book that sets your imagination ablaze and will entertain readers for hours on end.

Cheers

Really fun

This one was really fun. I loved Chloe, although I still don’t get why she fell for Raven so fast. They were entertaining to read though. And Remmie was a hoot. Stephanie has another winner with this one.
