Chasing Mr. Wrong

Rate this book
Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover/title edition for ASIN B08113PBG9

Mr. Blue Eyes is my brother's best friend.
The only man to make flannel look sexy.
And the one guy that's completely off limits.

My brother tricked me into coming home.
Wants me to forgive our dying father.
Nothing like fond memories of a drunk dad and trailer parks.

Everything about this ranch town sucks.
Except for Chase Dalton.
I actually wrote a bestselling romance about him.
He just doesn't know it.

He never saw me the way I saw him.
I was always the little sis.
Now I'm all grown up.
A big city girl with a big city attitude.

But Chase knows better.
He sees the real me.
The shy girl with a rough childhood.
A heart that's longing for love.

This town is everything I never wanted.
And Chase is everything I always needed.
I guess now I can finally finish my sequel...

This was a first for me by this author and I’m not going to lie I really disliked Amanda at the beginning with her I’m better then everyone attitude although I did like her by the end of the book. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Amanda ran the first chance she got after graduating from high school vowing to herself that she would never return, leaving behind her brother Miles and her one true love Chase but she needed to escape her abusive father and saw this as her only opportunity. She has rebuilt her life in the big city and made friends none of which know the truth of her life before. Miles convinces her to return home as their father is dying and wants to make amends for his past but can she really forgive him? Seeing Chase again she can’t help but get involved with him and see where their love could go but how will she explain her previous life to her friends and can she and chase really have a chance at real happiness?!?

Ok there are a lot of holes in this story especially when it comes to the life she lied to her friends about there is no real explanation as to how they feel about all the lies and no confrontation, which was a bit odd but still I enjoyed the book although Amanda is not easily likeable at first.

I'm so glad this was dual pov, because I may not have liked Chase if I had only seen him from Mandy's pov.

Mandy and Chase have know each other since they were kids, and she pined for him for most of her life. That is until she finally moved away at 18.

Now she's back, tricked by her brother, and they can't stay of of one another's orbit.

The chemistry was there, but they still had the same obstacle they let get in the way in the past...Miles.

I did spend a lot of this book wishing that Mandy had more of a backbone, or a bit more self-confidence, but otherwise I enjoyed the story.

Quick Summary
City girl Mandy (28) gets an ugly surprise when her friends whisk her away for a surprise birthday weekend on the heels of a bad break up to her boyfriend of six years. Instead of the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, Mandy is back home in Colorado. The home she left 10 years ago without a backward glance and the very last place she wants to be.

Having her brother there, trying to force a meeting with her estranged father is bad enough but then Chase Dalton (29), her girlhood crush and secret inspiration for her bestselling romance novel makes an appearance and suddenly all her city polish vanishes and Mandy reverts to the shy girl with an embarrassing crush on her brother’s best friend all over again.

But a lot has changed since she’s been gone and their immediate connection pushes them both off kilter. But with her whole life back in New York, will Mandy have to choose between a change with Chase or her city dreams?

🖤 ~ My Thoughts ~ 🖤

It’s been several days since I read this and I’m still torn about how to rate it. I had a love/hate relationship with Chasing Mr. Wrong. First half of the book was not for me. I really didn’t like Mandy or Chase. She was the cliché country girl that re-invents herself and lies about her past and where she comes from for fear her new high society friends will abandon her. He was a jerk for the sake of being one and I couldn't feel anything redeemable about either of them. The childish and flat out immature actions of Mandy, Chase and idiot Miles was cringe worthy (and so frequent!!!) Throw in the one night stand between the MCs that was a drunken mess and I was struggling to keep going.

The second half was better. Chase and Mandy start really connecting and not just in bed. They talk and confess their dreams and their secret wants and finally (FINALLY) admit their feelings for each other. It helped that they end up leaving crazy Miles behind and he doesn’t get a lot of page time because he drove me up the wall every single time. Towards the end we also see a different side of Mandy where she isn’t concerned with appearances or what others might think. She’s happy with Chase and that becomes enough for her. That part was really sweet and had me softening towards her. She just took her time getting to that conclusion and it became an exercise in patient to wait her out.

I wish the constant reminders of Chase and his revolving bedroom door reputation were left out. I read about it so much that it started to dampen the new romance between him and Mandy. He becomes a reformed play boy at the end but it all happened so fast it wasn’t really believable in the long run.

Heat Level: 4/5 (condoms are used, until they have the safe sex/contraception talk)

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chasing Mr Wrong—

Mandy/Amanda is and author and she has written this romance that’s a HUGE success, but no one knows that’s the books is based on the hometown & the boy she left behind.

We start the book with the blindfolded Amanda/Mandy thinking she is headed to Vegas for a girls weekend to get her mind off a terrible breakup and to celebrate her birthday. When the blindfold comes off Mandy is left speechless because she realizes she’s not in Vegas but in her old hometown in Colorado, the one she ran away from years ago and swore she’d never return to. Her friends mean well & think they are doing her a huge favor by bringing her back home, but all she wants to do is get out of there and fast before anyone figures out just what & who her book was written about!

Chasing Mr. Wrong is was my first book to read from this author and it won’t be my last! She knocked this baby out of the park. The storyline was great with plenty of twist, turns and surprises from the very beginning. The chemistry between Chase and Mandy was smoking and I love how the author makes you feel like you’re right there with them. I have to say at first I wasn’t a fan of Amanda but as the story goes you will see a change in her and Chase has a lot to do with this.
I would like to see what could happen between Kara and Miles?
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great romance with plenty of steam. Five star plus in my opinion!!!

Instead of Chasing Mr. Wrong it should be Chasing Mrs. Wrong. I am really torn when it comes to this book. I had a love/hate relationship with this book.

It starts off with Amanda’s friends blind-folding her and taking her on a surprise trip to get her over her recent breakup. On the plane ride, Amanda thinks that they are going to Vegas, because what else do spoiled rich girls go to get over someone, well it turns out that when they land she realizes she is not in Vegas but back “home.” Never wanting to return home leaves her even more depressed.

Mandy kinda had me wanting to put the book down and not finish it. I understand she went through a lot growing up, and as you read you will find out more, but to become that self-centered to pretend like you don’t know your own brother, it just rubs me the wrong way. As for Chase, he was sweet for a play boy. I didn’t like that he could so easily move on after a night of drunken sex with Amanda but after you read a little more and you realize he didn’t move on, he redeems himself a bit more.

I did like the last half of the book better once all of Mandy’s friends left and she let her country side come out, but that could’ve had something to do with why she missed her flight, but you gotta read for yourself to find out this bit of info.

I hope you enjoy the book as everyone’s tastes are different, and who knows you might just like it.

I received this as an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

I liked the chemistry between Mandy and Chase and the premise of the story. Mandy goes away to the big city, reinvents herself, doesn't tell her wealthy, privileged friends about her upbringing, then finds herself back home and tells her brother and his best friend/her crush to lie to her friends about knowing her. While it looks like the author is heading towards having the situation with the friends blow up in Mandy's face, the author sidesteps any resolution by sending the friends home without Mandy and without any indication they know the truth. Kara seems awfully pro-Brice in the letter she left Mandy (What's up with that? She knows how he treated her!). The next time we see the friends, it's at Mandy and Chase's wedding a few months later. While it's great to see that the friends were accepting of Mandy despite her deception (how long has she being lying about herself to them?), it's a bit of a cop-out to not address it on the page. I'm guessing pacing and the need to focus on Chase and Mandy (not to mention having Brice pop up to provide a more tangible contrast to Chase) factored into the decision to not have a 'confrontation' scene with Kara et al. Other than that, this was an enjoyable book to read.

I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I enjoyed it but the character really frustrated me, especially Amanda. How anyone could think they need to be that self-centered and shallow I will never understand? Her “friends” are absolutely horrible. There were a few times in the beginning where I wanted to put it down, but I pushed through. I did enjoy the last half of the book. When the other girls aren’t in the picture things getting a lot better and the book became a lot more enjoyable.

Amanda left home when she graduated high school planning to never return again. She was escaping an abusive father, but she left behind her Miles brother and Chase, Miles best friend and Amanda’s crush. Miles manages to maneuver her into coming home because their father is dying and he’s trying to make amends for all his past mistakes. Amanda wants nothing to do with him. When she comes home, she starts up a thing with Chase, but her friends don’t know that she knows Chase and that Miles her bother is there. She lied to them and made up a fake life. To complicate things Miles won’t be happy with Chase for being with Amanda and Amanda’s ex has shown up. Chase doesn’t believe that she’ll stay there in their small little hometown. Can they get past their differences?

This is the first book that I have read by Avery Edwards. I enjoyed this book very much. It was a light-hearted, steamy romance with a cowboy as hot as they come. Mandy is a high-spirited, feisty woman who is fighting her roots at every chance that she can. Coming home and seeing her childhood crush might just do her in. Chase is a mouth-watering, tall drink of water. With his boots, snug jeans, flannel shirts, and washboard abs Chase is an instant love-magnet to women all around him. Chase has been fighting his attraction to his best friend's sister for decades. Mandy uses writing as her outlet to defuse the sexual tension that she feels anytime Chase is around. There were two things that I didn't care for in the book. Mandy kept going back to her ex, even when it was obvious that he was using her. I wish she could have been stronger in this aspect. I also don't care for cheating and Chase seems to sleep with a lot of rich, married women, whose husbands pay them no attention. Other than these two aspects, I truly enjoyed the rivalry and riling up of each other, that Mandy and Chase gave to each other. It was a quick, fun read.

This was my first time reading anything from Avery Edwards. I grabbed this at the recommendation of another author and I’m so happy I did. I think this story had me hooked from the time their plane lands.

Mandy/Amanda starts out as an entitled snob. She lies to her friends, hides who she actually is and treats everyone else like they aren’t worth her time.

She ran away to NYC right after graduation and never looked back. She made a name for herself by becoming a successful author but when her friends surprise her with the perfect trip she runs right into her muse. The real person behind her cowboy character. It’s not long before we find out the reality is so much better than her fantasies.

I enjoyed Mandy’s transition from spoiled party girl back into the caring country girl you knew she once was. I also liked how Chase came to the realization that he wasn’t really living without her. There’s the added issue of her brother, the past she’d left behind and the life she is trying to make for herself. The characters come to life before your eyes.

I received an advanced copy of this story via BookSprout and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

ONE ENJOYABLE ADVENTURE!!!
Crap on toast! Avery waxed the base, strung the link and lined the bow weaving a web so intricately and tight until everything else ceases to exist. She absolutely nailed all of the emotions swirling through this bad boy running rampant unchecked that leaves you reeling and wanting more. Spinning this baby with such refreshing realism that catapults this jewel to life effortlessly. Pushing forward with such perfection escalating this baby to staggering heights with it's intensely compelling storyline and intertwined plot. The chemistry is intense, white hot and explosive. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that make it easy to relate. The personalities are well matched and blended together smoothly. The scenes are so graphically detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that feels as though you're right there with them. Fantastic job Avery, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

An Awesome Read!!!

I enjoyed reading Brother’s Best Friend(Ranch Boys Series Book 1). All about Amanda Hudson a romance writer who is twenty eight years old & Chase Dalton a Cowboy who works at a spa resort in Colorado. Amanda’s girlfriends surprised her for her birthday, blindfolded her put her on a plane & flew her to a tiny town in the mountains. When they took the blind fold off she nearly passed out, she was in her hometown on the ranch that belonged to the man of her dreams, her muse Chase Dalton! Turns out his family no longer owns the ranch, but Chase still works there in the barn with his beloved horses. The author wrote a story about a young women who has been running all her life, only to realize her dream has been in her back yard from the beginning!!! Read about Amanda & Chase and see if forever is in their future or in the rear view window!!! It was an awesome read and I’m looking forward to reading Book two!!

"We're on the way to sin city. Vegas, Baby". At least Amanda our MFC thinks so. And that’s how CHASING MR. WRONG starts out. It just gets better and better from page one.
I fell in love with the author at this point, seriously, page one! Avery Edwards had me hooked. Then the characters, who were each in their own right a piece of work, kept me entranced for the entire book. The story line is so enthralling and so well played that I could not stop reading even though it may have meant losing a little bit of sleep. Good books will do that.
Our MMC, Chase, otherwise known as Mr. Wrong is oh so Mr. Right! Ya just can’t help but root for the guy. Did I mention the steam? Yeah. There’s that. It’s a great book. Full of angst, fun, laughs, steam, and a beautiful ending. I loved this book. I give it 8 STARS at least!

I'm not sure I would say that Amanda and Chase are enemies as much as he represents everything she left behind and a heartbreak she never really got over. Amanda is a successful writer in NYC with the rich and snobby friends to go along with her current lifestyle. She is nursing a broken heart, partly because she realizes she should have dumped him long ago. He bestie decides she needs a surprise long weekend away, but the surprise isn't what she is expecting. The gang of girls ends up a ranch, the place she fled years ago, and comes face to face with the man who shattered her heart. The are a mountain of reasons, aside from Chase, that she doesn't want to be back there. I love the drama, guilt, pain and the possibility of having the one thing she has always wanted as the story unfolds. Love it!

Read a Little Young.
An over-the-top romance storyline where Amanda who’s turning twenty-eight is kidnapped by her three best friends and flown from NYC to a spa ranch in Colorado which turned out to be located on the property she practically grew up on. She and her brother, Miles, lived in a trailer next to the property. Their father was an abusive drunk so as soon as she graduated she left for NYC to become an author. She has published one book based on her brother’s best friend, Chase. The romance story is called The Ranch Hand.
Old feelings surface and by the end,she needs to decide if she’s going back to NYC or staying in Colorado with Chase.
There were sweet moments but mostly eye rolling moments. The story just read too young for me. Perhaps the younger audience will enjoy this storyline.

Avery Edwards has captured my whole heart with this release.

I think everyone can relate to pain. Whether emotional or physical, the character of Mandy, aka Amanda, shows strength that, I'm sorry to say, I know. The strength of both of the sibling characters; of Mandy who had the courage to leave, as well as her Brother Miles for staying. For an Author to understand that depth just got me.

As a romance, to read Mandy coming home after 10 years away was a fluke but never were her feelings for Chase, her Brothers best friend. I truly loved everything about this release. There is a beautifully designed happily ever after. This release will stay with me and trust it is well worth your time.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced readers copy of Chasing Mr. Wrong in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.

I am now a huge fan.

Amanda, a writer, takes a much needed girl's trip to Vegas. At least she thought it was to Vegas. Now she's wound up back in the one spot she never wanted to be in again. Who does she wind up with? Her brother's best friend. The one man she's pined for forever. She knows he will never be with her because of her brother, but that's fine because she wants nothing to do with her old life. She has moved on, albeit with a rich, loser boyfriend, but still moved on. Unfortunately, Chase is still gorgeous, still hot and still the same man she patterned a character after. They could never be together, right? She can never go back to that life, even for a visit, right? A good read.

DNF!!! I hated, hated the main female lead Mandy oh so so sorry it's Amanda now! Now that she feels like she's better than everyone she knew growing up, even the main male lead!! But she still wants him secretly, writes a book with him as her male lead but he's beneath her now. Even her brother she makes him pretend not to know her in front of her "friends"! WTF ever. Yes Mandy had a $h!! childhood but that's on daddy not your brother, it the mountains and not on your childhood crush! She treats everyone like $h!! And why?!? Because she's now a city girl to good for those country folk! Ugh I hate fake people and I refuse to read about them made it almost half way before I wanted to scream!!

While I did enjoy this story it was not till about half way through that I started to really grasp it. Amanda was a biatch and her attitude really sucked. Considering where she came from, I think she was just trying to be something totally different to who she truly was. Chase her brothers friend saw though that. While this book was, well to me about forgiveness and personal failings, being your true self is important no matter who you are in life. Bearing a grudge only hurts yourself the most. She needs to forgive to move on. This book gave me a lot to think about. It was a good book.

The first thing Mandy was run away from her life in Colorado, she wasn't going to be Miles shadow anymore and her love for Chase would go away sooner or later. After being gone for a decade and a horrible break up again from her cheating boyfriend Brice, her 3 BFF's decide to take her on a surprise trip that turns out to be a nightmare. Her love for Chase is in full force and she can make it only better by going against every thing she believes in. While this story is filled with alcohol assumption, lots of partying and finally believing her HEA can come true. Its a book you need to read and fall in love with the wonderful characters.

Mandy has been in love with her brothers best friend since childhood. When Chase kisses Mandy after she tells him she is leaving for New York City. He doesn’t ask her to stay. Mandy, who now likes to be called Amanda, is a novelist. It’s her twenty eighth birthday and her friends have taken her to a place that she would love. This place happens to be in Colorado where she grew up. She sees Chase for the first time in ten years. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Awe, this book will pull at your heart strings. Amanda, Mandy, left home to make something of herself in the big city and she did, but she left something more important behind. Chase is one sexy cowboy, ranch hand and he definitely makes you swoon. The characters are fun and well written. The setting is beautiful. The secondary characters are outstanding. Mandy grows up.more in a week back home than she has in ten years away and that is fun to watch. The chemistry and interaction between them is a thing of beauty.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough with twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more with Amanda from being abused by a drunk father to having her brothers best friend Chase kissing her to her leaving two weeks after for NYC to write her novels all based around Chase.

You won’t avoid having a love hate relationship with Amanda/Mandy as she starts out as a class act, totally incorrigible but somehow you could detect little snippets of the real her.

When lies catch up with you, and you have to pretend to all those that you love then you have hit rock bottom. Thankfully in “Mandy” case “Ransom” will come riding on his stallion and save her from the pits of despair

Captivating read

Powerful use of the English language. Amanda never wanted to see that bleak place where she grew up ever again. Her brother made it impossible to refuse to return her dying father's bedside. Once she was back there, things happened to make her see it in a new light. Amanda found what she really needed in that hovel in Colorado. I gave it a deserved 4 stars. Recommend to anyone that likes second chances.

Great story.
This is the first book I've read by this author & loved it. Loved the characters but at first Amanda/Mandy not so much as she was taking out her crappy life out on him. Even though they hadn't seen each other for 10yrs the chemistry between them was HOT but she was his best friends sister who should have been off limits but neither could help themselves. Will definately be reading other books from this author.

She fled her home to get away from a abusive father but in the process she also left behind her brother Miles and his best friend and her teenage crush Chase In fact she based her best selling book on Chase. Now she has returned for her fathers death bed reunion and to say she isn't that nice is an understatement she is a total piece of work and her friends are just as bad. As things heat up between her and Chase will she look at the woman she has become and realise she needs to change You will have to read to see

This is the first book I have read by Avery Edwards. I loved it and fell in love with the MC.
We Start off with Amanda/ Mandy blindfolded by her Best friend thinking she is in her way to Vegas after a bad break up , Instead she is going to her hometown , One she hasn’t been to in years .
She hopes not to run into Chase, her brothers best friend she had a crush on and based her book on.
I don’t want to give spoilers, sparks fly, there is steamy sex, spend the money but the book, it’s worth it,

Chasing Mr. Wrong is a story hard to put down. The chemisty between Chase and Amanda is powerful and loving, even as they both try to deny their feelings.

Amanda wanting to forget her past but is thrown back to her pervious live as her friends celebrate her birthday. Chase regrets letting Amanda go, but is not sure she will come back.

This is a story of love of family and friends, lost and regret.
