Burning Snow

Rate this book
Never give a sorceress an even break, or so say the Elder Gods who’ve locked Tairin up in a prison of ice. But when a demon threatens the world, the gods offer Tairin freedom if she kills it. The offer is tempting, but making a deal with a god is far trickier than making a deal with the devil...Burning Snow is a dark fantasy about a sorceress from a forgotten age. From the frozen wastes of northern Alaska to the smoldering snows of Mt. Fuji, Tairin risks divine treachery while waging a desperate battle to save a world that has abandoned her.

Not what I expected- loves the heroine

Spoilers below:

This story was not what I expected. Tairin queen of snow is a tragic story of two broken warriors that were betrayed by the heavens in every way and still save the earth despite the heavens evil.

Both Tairin and Eric were unfairly punished and sacrificed past, present, and future to save the world and only two creatures remember them.

The last page was a fitting call out to the heavens who failed.

Extremely sad. I also thought she would be more powerful but they striped her of her power at the beginning and she was punished because the gods were cruel.

I might or might not read a sequel, because of the tragic ending in this one.

I won this book on Goodreads (Kindle version) for an honest review.

Let me start off by saying the author can surely write! The characters are well defined and the scenery to the story is fitting, beautifully described and appropriate. The story has a decent paced flow and the writing is intriguing. With that said, this is not my genre and the story was a bit too....I don't know morose for me. I am sure though those that like stories of this nature might find it compelling. Don't get me wrong I had to finish it and I am glad I did. It was just not for me.

This is one of the best books I have read in quite some time. It is full of action and adventure with a new twist to the story at every turn of the page. Yet, at the same time it provokes the reader to consider how gray the line is between good and evil, right and wrong, and just and unjust and how our decisions not only walk the gray line but change the courses of our destiny.

George Morrison uses his wild imagination and gifts of vivid language and rich imagery to create a powerful set of characters and a action-filled thriller that will have the reader racing through pages to find out how it ends. Even readers who are not normally drawn to fantasy will find themselves caught up in the drama and suspense.
