(Arabic: جوزيف ميرفي)
Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author.

Murphy was born in Ireland, the son of a private boy's school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He studied for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States, where he became a pharmacist in New York (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931.

In the mid 1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at the Institute of Religious Science. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He died in 1981.

An interesting book with inspirational advice and suggestions. I enjoyed the general upbeat and hope-inspired anecdotes. Although it attempts at separating scientific from religious explanations, it remains highly religious. This does not detract from the book, but becomes boring and repetitive for the non-christian reader. Repetition is indeed part of the 'game' in this book intended to be used as a recepie book for a better life. I liked the recommendations to combat the many fears one may have, and the matter of fact statements that one can change himself for the better. Much more is known now about neuroscience; therefoe, the 'scientific' explanations as well as the 'logic' is rather flawed. This again, does not detract from the book and its intended goal of helping people achieve happiness and life fulfilment. I was tempted to put it down during the first chapters, but I'm glad I finished it. At least, I now give thanks daily and I'm more hopeful that happiness can be achieved as an inner state of mind.

This book is excellent for those struggling to turn their thoughts and ideas into action. It is a profound look at powers that go beyond the reach of our everyday skills. The information and proposals increase in complexity as the reading progresses. The author uses countless everyday examples that are easy to apply. They are experiences that detail and discuss complex statements about our subconscious mind and the power that lies within it. The first edition of this book was from 1963, but the knowledge from it is still valid and valuable today. The statements made in the twenty sections of this book may work for some but not others. Although the book discusses various options to achieve results, it will depend on understanding and implementing the concepts individually. When it comes to the human mind, particularly the subconscious, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to applying these ideas. We know that the mind is much faster when it operates with the body at a subconscious level. Excellent reading. I give it five stars out of five.

Summary
As name suggests it has various examples of how our concious and subconscious mind works. we have tremendous powerhouse within us that's our subconscious mind. Message from this book is "We are what we think"

Things I do like
Writing is very simple and easy to understand

Thing which I like the most is he mentioned real life examples to back up his concepts or ideas

I love how he has mentioned points to remember at the end of each chapter

Things I don't like
There is so much repetition.for example, when I was reading 2nd chapter of the book I felt like I have had already read similar things in first chapter. Same thing happened over and over again.

Recommendations - *ONE TIME READ*

Disappointing book. Just a whole lot of exams of manifestation without any support of science or research. Doesn't talk about negative manifestation, or why some work n others done Just a whole lot of quote n Bible teachings replaced with subconsciousness. disappointed.

One of the best books I have ever read. My plan is to continue to reread it and learn from it. To me this book is a work of true art. I wish I had read a book like this on this subject when I was a freshman in high school.
