This far and no further for me - that’s my conclusion regarding reading the rest of the series. At first, I was going to give the book one star because at the beginning the story failed to pick up where the previous book left off. Then the battle with the dragons at sea happened and I was going to give the book a two star review because basically, anytime the author is not being absurd with his understanding of relationships and some ( generally behaving like a 14 year old boy) then the book can be a bit interesting. But — then — the rest of the story happened and yeah. I’m done. It’s offensive and stupid and SO LAZY!!! The author glosses over any and all character development by shoving one liners of exposition past us. The result is that there are so many missed opportunities for character development and fantastic moments when the politics of the characters shift. And at this point, I just don’t care one tiny bit about any of it.
Another wasted story that could have been epic but instead is just boring, frustrating, and pathetic.
Not bad but the haram is getting dumb. As with most harams this one is stupid and makes no sense. The mc continues to cry about how terrible the haram is after he added the fifth chick. The fact he is still crying about the amount as more throw themselves at him and apparently now his wives are getting their own girls. Makes no sense and just seems stupid. Ohhhh five girls is to many jfc what the fk is the difference at that point if there is 6. Why add 5 or 4 or 3 if he is going to cry. It's just dumb.
I purchased the Omnibus version of this series; however, Audible doesn't allow listeners to leave reviews for the individual books.
Gryff the Griffin Rider: Book 2 continues to build on the fun, light fantasy adventure that started the series. The stakes are higher in this installment, with Gryff taking on the growing threat of the Horde while working to strengthen Fernlan and help the griffins reach their full potential.
Once again, Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods deliver top-notch performances that breathe life into the story. Gryff remains as entertaining as ever—charming, snarky, and sometimes hilariously unaware. One of my favorite ongoing bits of irony is how Gryff, who never wanted more than one wife, somehow ends up with a whole handful by the end of the book! His attempts to maintain some sense of normalcy amid all the chaos (both in battle and in his relationships) make for plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
The pacing really picks up here, and while there are more intimate scenes than in Book 1, they are balanced well with the action and world-building. Overall, this was a great continuation of the series and left me excited to jump straight into Book 3.
Book one wasn't great but I made it through to the end with minimal skipping. So I decided to give book 2 a shot. That was a mistake. The MC is just awful. I think Sloss and I have the same feelings of hate toward the MC. Sloss seems to take every oppurtunity to sh*t on the poor guy. Not just big stuff but every small chance to make him look stupid. Like getting lost trying to find his house and having some woman (his subordinate) make fun of him as she guides his stupid ass home. Or forgetting how to count. "I only count 11 people! Where is the 12th?!"..."Did you forget to count yourself Captain stupid face?" "Oh yeah! Derp!" He's also an extreme simp and cuck. About the time he tells him wife he won't complain when she bathes naked in front other men I tossed this pile into the garbage. F this trash.
It gets kind of boring when every conflict is resolved by either getting another wife to run everything for you, or tearing someone's heart out to feed someone else's magic. He's way over powered, to the point where every confrontation is boring AF knowing hes just going to turn on his Super Awesome Mighty Warrior Demi God of Power powers and end the fight before it even starts. There is no real struggle and therefor no growth, unless you count the size of his harem and that of his penis, which I do not, because according to harem gossip, hes a minute man anyway, so really why bother.
I liked the story and it was a good continuation of the first volume. However, there are many grammatical and synonym errors (such as using conceded instead of conceited). It reads like the author dictated the story using voice recognition and then failed to completely clean up the recognition mistakes. It would greatly benefit from a professional editor.
I love the story and the world continues to build in book 2, but PLEASE get the editing sorted. I saw an afterword about that issue at the end of this book, so hopefully book 3 won't be as painful in this regard. Once again, that's what prevents me from giving it that 5th star, so poor editing is basically an "own goal".
Thank you Mr sloss for another great read in gryff the Griffin rider series, moving along at a fast pace and loving all the new characters, looking forward to the next book in this story thanks.
I just love this series so much. It is fast paced and has great characters. The world created in this series sounds amazing. It all adds up to a great book and I can’t wait for the next one.
I read book 1and 2 cover to cover within a 72 hour span. I didn’t want to put them down. I’m moving directly to book 3 and I’m going to go into withdrawals if Marcus doesn’t get book 4 out soon. This series is so damn good.
This book was great and I really enjoyed reading it. The only issue was that the editing needs to be redone. I understood what the author was saying but had to read the sentence a couple times.
2 complaints. One, I would like him to value his wives & the idea of the children more. He seems to be in and out and treating them as managers he sometimes gets in the sack with. Two, He throws tantrums and it's obnoxious. Other than those gripes, I really enjoyed this book. Would love to see an elf that 'settles down'

The Gryff the Griffin Rider book two. Affirmed that this series is Awesome. I love the humor, serious situations, and antics. Of the characters in this series. Especially I love how the storyline is developing. Can't wait to read book three.
Gryff's adventures are fun enough to not only be good reading but to also be a fun guilty pleasure. With this book we get more backstory and a side that will explode the whole adventures into multiple worlds and books to come.
Really enjoyed the story and series so far. It's been fun although Griff had changed. He started out a nice guy but is fast becoming an ass. Winner if at some point someone points out he's changed?
I was shocked by the depth of description the author has for his world building. I loved the story and could not stop reading until finished. What a great talent!
