1 Nope Stars

Nope nope nope nope.
This book is the epitome of why I avoid second chance romances like the plague. They were boyfriend and girlfriend in their teens, he was the one that pursued her. He was put into a dangerous situation, so of course he had to push her away and what is the "easiest" way to do that? He invited her to a party so she can walk in on him actively cheating on her and rubbing it in her face for everyone to see.

7 years later while he is busy being a manwhore, he forgets about her pretty much the whole time until he sees her again, then he uses the excuse that any other women didn't live up to the heroine even though he was busy putting it in other "ladies", also mentioning one of the OW he casually fcks in his gym and what she was wearing literally days right before he sees the heroine again and is supposed to still "love" her.

Then of course when he comes back he is jealous of a freaking potential high school crush of hers like he had any right. He literally gets mad because he thinks she "so easily moved on" just by making a new guy friend who protected her from a bully🙄 EVEN THOUGH HE WAS THE ONE WHO LEFT HER AND CHEATED.

He even told her they should have been each others firsts, ya okay. Then the biggest cliche of all, SHE'S STILL A VIRGIN. So with pretty much no groveling at all, instead he turns it around and makes the heroine feel bad for him and she totally forgets about the betrayal even though it left her hating and pining after him for SEVEN YEARS. He even kind of manipulates her into forgiving him with

“I did what I thought was best at the age of sixteen, backed into a terrible situation. If that’s something you can’t forgive, then there’s nothing else to say.”

AFTER ALL THAT SHE FORGIVES HIM RIGHT AWAY, FORGETS ABOUT THE PAST, AND HAS SEX WITH HIM, BECAUSE HE'S SOOOOO TURNED ON THAT SHES A VIRGIN STILL!!

I legit cannot with this crap. I don't care how old you are, cheating is cheating. If he couldn't see what he did was wrong in his 20's, I fully expect him to do it again. BARF

Yes Nico, the only way you could possibly push away the love of your life
for her own good is by getting a BJ from her nemesis and having her walk in and witness it. Such a stud.

Complete crap

I need more than two people's stupid lust for one another to convince me they belong together and I'm heartily sick of controlling, 'Alpha' heroes who take, take, take and weak arsed, pathetic idiot females who cave immediately to them. This type of dynamic is old and played out, and I'm over it. If a writer these days had a goddamned original thought and kept their frustrated hormones out of their writing, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

This book was a waste of time I can't get back, and it pisses me off.

Never Truth: A Mafia Romance
The Five Families #2
By: Jill Ramsower

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Having read the first book in the series, Forever Lies, I had high hopes for Never Truth. I was, fortunately, not disappointed. Sofia and Nico are the embodiment of second chances, even if tough circumstances. As teens, their young love was torn to shreds when Nico left Sofia. Although he had reasons for leaving that way, that didn't make it easier for Sofia. Now, years on, Nico is back in Sofia's life, and the chemistry is still obvious between them. Is forgiving and forgetting possible? I enjoyed reading this story, and I've become a fan of this series. Sofia is underestimated by everyone, and I admire her tenacity and quite intelligence. Nico is more than he seems, and I want to know more about that-who he really is. I love these two as a couple, and I hope to read more about them in the future. The journey is just beginning. Never Truth is perfect for mafia romance readers looking for something new that is compelling, dramatic and spicy hot!

ARC received from The Next Step PR.

I am SO happy I gave this one a shot after not completely enjoying book 1. I had my doubts over this author, and with this one being a second-chance romance (not my favorite genre), I didn’t know what to expect, but this one blew me out of the water.

Nico and Sofia met as children, after Sofia watched her brother get killed by the mafia. She was traumatized and this opened her up to be “that” child in school. Nico had patience with her and they became friends. Friendship obviously turns into more as they age. When Nico turns 16, he is enlisted into the mafia and leaves Sofia behind for her safety. Years later, she is in trouble so her father calls upon him to renew their friendship in order to provide her security.

What I enjoyed about this book so much was how well-placed the flashbacks were. We didn’t get them all at once. They were slowly released to us as the story carried on, and were always relevant to what was happening in the current present. Even when we think we know everything, the author surprises us with more secrets. I was not overwhelmed by them at all though.

With book 1 I found the characters forced and that a lot of their backstory was for added drama. With this couple I found it realistic and that nothing was over the top. Nico left for good reasons. Sofia hates him for it, for good reasons. Together, presently, she slowly forgives and they heal.

The romance was sweet and well-developed. They didn’t jump back into bed right away, but she also didn’t spend 80% of the book pushing him away. It was all very well paced out. Nico didn’t force much. He was sweet and patient, and after reading the childhood flashbacks, we do see hints of his younger self in the present.

I feel like I have so much more to say about this book, but I just can’t get it into words. The author did a fantastic job with this one and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next with this series.

With the epilogue, we get a hint of who book 3 is about and I am so excited to read it. I will definitely continue with the series now! It’s shaping up to be a enemies-to-lovers romance.

I was impressed by this author’s ability to weave the past and present together without losing any of my attention or interest. And the fact that I was able to jump into what I now know is the second book in this series without feeling lost is a huge plus also!

Sofia and Nico have a painful past that neither of them has ever gotten over, but the time has come for Nico to win his one and only love back. The only problem? She doesn’t know what he does for a living or WHO he’s doing it for...or so he thinks. Nico has no clue that Sofia has never been blind to the family business, or that she can so easily piece together why he destroyed her so thoroughly seven years ago. Of course, Sofia has some secrets of her own, and they’re secrets that she’s actually managed to keep, unlike anyone else in her life. And when Nico finds out that his woman isn’t quite so ignorant to the ways of their world, watch out. Because he’s not about to lose Sofia again and he’s ready to give her the entire world on a platter.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, interesting, and entertaining. I’m interested to see what comes next for the Families.

Sofia met Nico as a very young girl, and their friendship blossomed into so much more. She knew she would always have Nico in her life...until she didn't. With no cause and no explanation, he disappeared out of her life and that nearly wrecked her. Now, all these years later, he keeps making an appearance where she is, at the pushing of her parents, and she wants to know why. Perhaps the secrets that both of them have been keeping need to come to light.

Gah, this one was especially enjoyable because I really liked Sofia. She was smart and cunning, she was assertive and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind when she needed to. She had been through something traumatic, something that could easily break a person, and she came out so incredibly strong. I really liked her best friend Michael who came along at the best possible time for Sofiia and I would love to see him get his own book because he has a fantastic personality that jumps right off the page. This is a well-written addition to the series, with wonderful characters. Such a fun book with a lot of emotions packed into it.

Never Truth by Jill Ramsower is book Two in The Five Families Series. This is the story of Nico and Sofia. I have read the previous book that added to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Sofia and Nico where childhood friends whose feelings started to change into love the older they got. But when Nico was around 16 years old he informed of his true family business and that his life was going to be changing. Nico up and left without a word to Sofia who was heartbroken. Now years later she starts seeing Nico again but she doesn't want to forgive him. Nico is out to protect Sofia and in doing so has him back in her full presents. Nico left to protect her but what he didn't know was that Sofia is a strong women who knows how to keep her secrets and what is going on.
This book settles their HEA but it does end with a soft cliffhanger setting us up for the next book and other main characters.

This book is the second in this series, It’s nice to get the back story on Sofia and Nico, and oh boy let me just say the chemistry between Nico and Sofia is off the charts!!

Sofia meet Nico at the best possible time in life, he was the only kid that was nice to her after loosing her brother. Their friendship grew each day, year by year.
On Nico’s sixteenth birthday everything changed. Nico learned that his dad was apart of the “Family” and he was expected to follow suit which ment in the long run he’d have to leave everything and everyone he cared about behind in order to protect them.
Flash forward 7ish years, Sofia has moved on with her life graduated college she just can’t seem to fill that hole in her heart that was left all those years ago. Nico has been tasked with the responsibility of keeping Sofia safe, but will she let him back in to achieve his goal? Or will she be too hurt to travel down that road again.

This book will suck you in from page one! I cannot wait to see how the rest of this series comes together.

What happens when you feel your whole life is a lie you create your own truths.
Sofia Genovese is a young woman who has grown up with so many secrets and thinking that the one person who would always be there for you wasn’t who you thought they were makes things even harder. She has lived her life with her own truths and has done what needed to be done to live her life for herself but when your past comes barreling back into your life do you move forward or live in the past.
Nico Conti didn’t have the easiest life growing up but the one bright spot has always been the day he met his “ladybug” having more in common then they both realized, Nico does everything he thought was right when it came to Sofia.
Nico & Sofia will have to overcome so many hurdles to find their way back to one another, their pasts, their lies even their truths but will it be enough for them to bring it to a future that will lead them to a HEA, that will be the last question they will have to answer.

So I'm obsessed with this series.. like ignore all adult responsibilities, make your own dang dinner, leave me alone I'm reading OBSESSED! Never Truth is the second book in The Five Families Series and boy oh boy Jill Ramsower did not disappoint!

What happens when a long lost love returns 7 years later? Sofia and Nico's story spans years; and is full of first love, gut wrenching heartbreak, friendship, betrayal, secrets & lies; oh and the mafia! These two were absolute 🔥🔥🔥 together; their connection simply undeniable as they navigate who they are now and resolve the secrets of their past. I could NOT put this book down!

There is so much to love about this book and this series... all the little details, the perfectly placed flashbacks, the continuing story line from book one and all the layers of Sofia and Nico's story that unravel as you read... just absolute perfection. 💙

This was my first book by this author and was blown away. Sofia thought that her and Nico would always be together and when he broke her heart, never did she think she could pick up the pieces and move on. You believe what you want and make your life what you want it to be, but when Nico comes back into her life disrupting everything she’s worked so hard to put back together, there he is, her past and what she thought was her future. Can Sofia work through the hurt to be with the one person she truly loves? Or will she walk away and look towards her future without Nico? I guess you will need to read to find out. What an amazing read, I need to read the first book and can’t wait for the next one in the series. I received a copy of this book.

Ok so in the first book I wasn’t really digging Sophie, but this story changed my tune! She’s not a pushover. She’s got spunk! Nico. Was totes prepared to not really like this story, but these two characters together really work well. The second in the series this story line is softer, but still has mafia grit, and whoa baby, some steamy scenes! And the ending????? OMG we need book 3 stat. So if you like mafia steamy this is a book for you!

This is the second book in the Five Families series. Each one works well as a stand-alone novel, but I think reading each one gives a better idea of who all the players are. This time we focus on the youngest daughter of mafia boss Enzo, Sofia. As a child and teenager, she was best friends and then in love with Nico. From out of the blue he one day betrayed her and vanished from her life. Now, he's suddenly back in her life and all of their secrets are about to come out in the open.
I do enjoy second chance romances, as long as the reason that they broke up in the first place either isn't too awful or too silly. I enjoyed the romance between them as they rediscovered each other. As much of the book is about the past as it is the present and that worked really well. They have both changed in the time that they have been apart, but the connection between them is still very obvious and believable.
What I really like about this series so far is that it isn't about the characters suddenly seeing the error of their ways and turning from crime. If anything, they all just accept that it is part of their life and that's the way that things are. It seems more realistic than some other similar books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS

Jill Ramsower delivered an amazing story. I loved everything about this book! Sofia and Nico have history and they part ways. With a bad breakup between them and reconnecting years later, you see that Nico will do anything to redeem himself and earn Sofia's trust.

"I want everything from you, Sofia Genovese. I want your body and your mind. I want your secrets and your trust. I want to tell you every horrible thing I've ever done and know you'll love me anyway."

I highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy romantic suspense mixed with organized crime. Never Truth by Jill Ramsower is an EPIC read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

I loved how raw with emotion this story was, it started out with some sadness, then got sweet with adolescent love. Then the story took a crazy turn and my mind was blown with all the secrets everyone was carrying. ( not just the main characters) wow mind blown 🤯. This book had me guessing trying to find out what the secrets were and when they came out, they were not what I imagined, they were better, but much darker. What a great book. Fingers crossed Micheal gets a book. Oh and the bar bq Maria what!!!!

This is a second chance mafia romance. Sofia and Nico have known each other since childhood. Love blooms until Nico’s father gets in trouble. Nico does something to change course. He gives up Sofia.
Years later, Sofia needs someone to protect her, and her father asks Nino. The book does a great job giving us glimpses into the past so we, as the reader, get the full story.

This is my second read by Jill Ramsower, my first being Forever Lies which is the first book in the Five Families series. While it is not necessary to read Forever Lies before reading Never Truth, they are interconnected standalones, so it is recommended that you do so.

Never Truth follows the story of Nico and Sofia. A tale of second chance romance. Nico and Sofia met at a very young age, a very heartbreaking time, and they formed a fast friendship turned relationship. A turn of events led to the ending of said relationship until years later when they are thrust back into each others lives.

Nico and Sofia were amazing together and you were definitely rooting for them especially after finding out what ripped them apart in the first place.
Loved Sofia's little side business! And I must say that I was hesitant regarding Sofia's friendship that she made following Nico leaving, I was definitely waiting for that to turn on her.
And the ending...oh! Now I can't wait for book 3 to come out!!

I love mafia romance stories. And this one, OMG, what a story!
I had read the first book in this series, so I knew what to expect. But it topped my expectations.

Who doesn’t love a hunted fearless possessive hot mobster who has only a heart his gorgeous strong woman?
Sofia and Nico broke my heart. They are my new favorites (sorry, Alessa and Luca). Their story is so heartbreaking but I am happy to have been part of it.
Even when I wanted to finish the book to have all the answers I couldn’t, I forced myself to savor every word. Because this story is well written and has a great plot in which each step counts.
My only question is why introducing some characters that then wouldn’t be develop. I guess I’ll have to wait for the next stories to find out.

Never Truth is a perfect romance story with the necessary amount of action and suspense to keep you alert and overwhelmed.
I am obsessed with this series. I can’t wait to read more in Blood Always!

NEVER TRUTH was everything. I loved Nico and Sofia’s story so much I barely put the book down. My heart hurt when they hurt and smiled when things were looking up for them. I wanted them to get their happily ever after. I rooted hard for them. But there was a lot of hurt and pain from their past, I wasn’t sure they could work through.

I used to not be one for flashbacks, but I have recently discovered I actually love them now. And Ramsower did an amazing job with the back and forth in this story. It definitely made the book worth wild.

Also, can we take a second to recognize and appreciate Michael. I mean, I absolutely loved him and would love to see him play a bigger role in the next book. If not a love interest eventually. Am I right?

Fantastic, steamy, heart wrenching...NEVER TRUTH took my breath away and was positively worth the wait. Ramsower, I adore you and your mafia world. 5 Incredible Stars!

I loved this... but that kidnapping was... ehh
I enjoyed the pacing of the story and seeing flashbacks of Sofia and Nico in the past, and how they were as adults. They had a familiarity from that but also a newness with learning how the other had changed since then. It was a solid, four star read for me and I am so excited for the next book!

He got his dick sucked by another woman in front of her, then was soo in love with her that he spent 7 years doing other women. But she never did anything with anyone between then and now.
His reason for getting a BJ was to driver her away to protect her so it's all good I guess.

The series is slowly growing on me. “Never Truth” is another boom in “The Five Families” series that I really enjoyed. Sofia and Nico are getting their second chance is this one.

I was curious about Sofia’s story. IN the first book she came out as shy and bright, but in this book is where we meet the real Sofia. She’s been drowning in secrets since the night her brother was killed. She was forced in the age of 5 to witness something that changed her forever. She grew up wearing a mask around her family, keeping locked inside her true emotions.

“Lie after lie. Never truth.”

Nico is the only one that knew the real Sofia. They met when she was 5 and he was 6 and they’ve been inseparable for a decade. However, things changed when he was initiated in the Lucciano family. He had to let her go but broke her heart in the process. Now he’s a capo and his first order is to keep Sofia safe. Would she let him back in after 7 years?

“You don’t just cross my mind; you live in it.”

I liked the switch between past and present. It helped me feel more in tune with the story. I felt the emotions, the grief, the heartbreak. However, I believe that Sofia forgave Nico very easily. He ended things in the worst way possible 7 years ago. For me Michael was the better man. He still had a dangerous vibe, but never hurt her. Nico was always meant to be her forever, but I wanted to see hum grovel a little!

I’ll be diving into “Blood Always” very soon! I need to find out more about the cold older sister. What is Maria’s real face and how will she react to her engagement with the Gallo underboss?

Wow... just wow.
The plot line, the organization, the characters, their tension practically seeping through the pages, the language... everything about this book was incredible.
I actually considered more times than one to stop reading and set it on a shelf and forget about it. It’s the second book in the Five Families series and I wasn’t sure what was previously discussed in the first book, and what would later be revealed in this one. I haven’t read the first book (but I am 100% going to do that!). The organization of this book was interesting; sometimes the author would open up a doorway for questions and fill in those holes in the following chapter, sometimes she’d wait long enough until the question slipped your mind and reopen the hole, other times she’d wait until the climax of the book came, and reveal the reader’s questions then.

I was iffy when it came to liking Sofia. When it was her chapter and the story was coming from her perspective, I was Team Sofie, sympathizing with her and understanding her. When it came time for Nico’s perspectives, I couldn’t stand Sofia. Every action, every word was toxic, her anger, her apathy, I just wanted to slap her. And that right there is what makes a great dynamic character.

Ramsower did a fantastic job developing her characters along with the plot of the story. I only wish it were longer. 221 pages? By the time I came around to love these characters and become completely engrossed with their world, I was already on the back cover.
100% reading the other books in this series. Definitely one of my favorite Goodreads giveaway books I’ve won.

Never truth was such a good title that went to waste. So cliche. So predictable. So bland. This second chance romance lacked all the angst and nostalgia of two former lovers attempting a comeback. The connection was forced and the H and h were only together by circumstance. The relationship between Sofia and Michael was more intriguing than with Nico. Sofia was not the firecracker she should have been and Nico was a weak overly sexed fake alpha.

Never Truth is the 2nd book in the Five Families saga, but I read it as a stand-alone, second chance romance.
.
.
I’d never read anything written by @jillramsowerauthor previously but I am a bit of a mafia romance junkie, so I couldn’t resist giving this a try. Sofia & Nico have such a long and beautifully broken history that watching them come back together was so much more rewarding. I don’t always love when a good amount of a story is told through flashbacks, but it worked for this book. This story was super steamy, and incredibly angsty. I really enjoyed the supporting characters and was routing for this romance from the end of the first chapter!
.
.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading Sofia’s sister Maria’s book when it releases and I’m going to download the first book in the series that I missed out on before.
