Blake Porter was one of the lucky ones. She’d met the man she was going to marry while she was in high school. She thought she was living a fairytale; the nerdy wannabe journalist dating the gorgeous star quarterback. One wrong move proved to irrevocably alter the course of their lives.

Betrayed by the girl he loved, Levi McCoy left for the Army and never looked back. Blake’s deception pierced his soul and shattered his heart. He used the pain to his advantage and became cold and calculating - the perfect Black Ops soldier.

Over a decade later, the 707 has been called in to rescue a reporter embedded in a deadly terrorist cell, and Levi’s shocked to learn it’s the one woman who’d once owned his heart. But Blake is no longer the naive teenager she’d once pretended to be. She’s something far more dangerous.

With bombs exploding, blood being spilled, and the terrorists closing in, they both battle the memories of their beautiful beginnings and shared history. Levi and Blake face off in a showdown of wills. In one corner, Levi is determined not to fall for the woman he’s never stopped loving. In the other, Blake tries to hold on to her self-respect and not beg Levi to hear the truth.

When the lies and deception are revealed will they survive with their hearts and lives intact?

The 707 Freedom Series:
The 707 is an elite team of Army Commandos. A special Black Ops team known as the 707 research and development group. They have a two-person chain of command: their Commander and the President.
Meet the men of the 707: Lenox, Jasper, Levi, and Clark. Watch as they show us that sacrifice, commitment, and bravery are not just for the battlefield. Each man must fight to find and protect the women who are theirs.
Each book is a standalone, a look into the life of a Special Forces soldier's life and the code they live and die by.

(audiobook) When I started, I didn’t expect to like this book that much. Sure, the very beginning hooked me in–the beautiful love story between the nerdy girl and the hot jock, with promises of a future together, I loved it, including when everything went south.

But what got me was when, a couple chapters in, I realized that Blake was way more than the journalist she’d always dreamed of becoming. She is NOT a damsel in distress, for sure. Which should be at odds with Levi’s obvious alpha male nature. What happens when the protector has no one to protect? That’s when the book really took on another dimension. Blake and Levi are equal, and they respect each other. What better way to, maybe, fall in love again?

The suspense and the black ops aspects of the story weren’t really original, but they worked. The fast pace, the action, the little violence, all of that held my attention. The villain doesn’t have much page time though, it was mostly what people knew about him or what he did to Blake and Levi, so I felt no hate for him, and it lessened the impact of his fall.

The extra happy ending was maybe a bit too much. It didn’t fit the mood of the rest of the book.

Narration wasn’t amazing, but the narrators did a good job. I believed in Blake and Levi, and their relationship. It kept me very entertained.

Quickie

- Series: 707 freedom #3 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #romantic suspense #military romance #second chance romance
- Triggers: violence and death
- Main couple: Blake Porter & Levi McCoy
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + Blake was so badass!
- – that goes fast once they decided to give it a shot

Badass FMC and MMC, second chance with high school sweetheart trope, black ops, lots of action. There was spice but nothing romantic about it, and the book was hilarious as shown in my KU notes and highlights. Four stars bc the MMC was a mean asshole (not brooding) and very harsh, his thoughts were just not romantic interest thoughts.

I needed to read a romance involving someone who is/was in the military, but I wanted it to be short so I could recover from my last read and get to my next read faster. I chose this book (#3 of 4 in the series) because it's the shortest one in the series. Only 3 hrs 48 mins, but it still told a story. Dual narration. This standalone cleansed my palate. I might even read the other books in the series.

I found Blake and Levi's past to be interesting in both good and bad ways. It definitely made them the people they are today. Their running into each other made for some great reading, but very uncomfortable for them. I'm glad that they were forced to work through where things went wrong for them and get past things. But the best was the ending of the book, loved how they came together to see the person that wronged them the most and put him where he belonged.

Loved Blake, but where was the grovel?? there needed to be some grovel. At the very least there should have been some, “oh sh@t, what did I do?!”

OMG love love love Blake. I love strong badass women and finally, we get one - Blake. Can't give 5 stars because it was so hard not to hate Levi and its hard to see how he should be forgiven. He doesn't deserve someone as amazing as Blake. He fell for the oldest trick/storyline in the book (another reason why it doesn't get 5). Wish this was the first book so I could have more Blake in the remaining books (she is equally badass in the next). I hated how the stepfather plot ended - after all that time to just have it end that way was a letdown. The constant mentions to the past were really annoying in this book, I can't tell if it was mentioned more frequently in this book or if it just annoyed me more but it's my biggest pet peeve. Almost had tears reading the letters at the end.

Oh my word! I was on the hunt for something different and that is what I found with Riley's books.
To say I am in love with this series and all her other works is an understatement.

I have binged on each and everyone of her books and love each and everyone.

Hot, steamy, sexy, sizzling with hot alpha males. I am in heaven.

Levi and Blake are high school besties and each others first love only to end in heartbreak over a miss communication. Over a decade later, Levi runs into Blake at a job and realises the mistake he made all those years ago.

This was a quick read/listen and basically briefed on the beginning, got straight to the story and then the ending hit which was bit blah. This will have to be my least favourite book in the series but I’m saying that, Levi wasn’t really spoken about anywhere near as much as the others.

All in all a decent book 🙃

Secrets and miscommunications caused years of hatred and heartache. This was another emotional story filled with high emotions, angst, suspense and second chances. Get ready to fall for another 707 member.

Blake and Levi have history and it’s not all sunshine and unicorns. Or though we thought. These two have chemistry and a connection that after all these years is heart to deny. Once secrets are revealed Blake and Levi have a second chance at the life they always envisioned.

Troy Duran and CJ Bloom once again brought their A game for these characters. You could feel all the heart and emotion in their voices as they brought these characters to life.

I loved this story from beginning to end and can’t get enough of the amazing characters.

Not quite as angsty as the other one in this series that I read - and at least this one was resolved much faster - almost a little *too* fast, but I’ll take that over the alternative

Blake is a strong and very smart women. But wants revenge against the man who ruined for life with Levi.
Levi is a strong and very handsome special forces solider.
When Levi and Blake’s path cross once again they must put their past hurts aside to work with one another.
I loved getting to see this second chance romance. Seeing the truth revealed and hurts healed. I loved the storyline and most all the characters not just Levi and Blake. I also listened to the audio and again the narrators nailed it. I could listen to them read all day. This was a great story to read or listen to and I highly recommend Finally Free

Whoa, the heroine is top-notch. The sweetest bad-ass ever.

So far, after reading two books from this series, it appears the Hs are written very flawed. Yeah, it's them, they're the problem.

Many times, it's the hs that are written frustratingly. I like that this author breaks away from that a bit. But I still wish there was more grovel due to the H's idiocy.

Finally Free (Levi): A Black Ops Romance: 707 Freedom Series Book 3 is by Riley Edwards. How could a rich boy who was the high school sports star and a shy, unassuming poor girl who wrote articles for the school newspaper get together and begin a romance? Would she take a bribe from his father to try to persuade him to give up his idea of joining the army and betray him?
Levi McCoy was the high school football star with a possible career ahead of him at college and maybe beyond. His mother married the rich Alister Bench and Levi‘s stature at school grew even more. However, Levi was not changed due to the influx of money in his life. He still drove the old truck he had bought with his own money and didn’t flaunt that he had access to money. He didn’t turn his back on old friends. He was just a good all-round guy. He didn’t want to attend college; but to go into the army and serve his country. Alister and his mother tried everything to get him to change his mind. Nothing worked.
Blake Porter was a shy, unassuming girl who worked for the school newspaper. She went to school events with her girlfriends but stayed in the background. One evening she went with them after a football game to the Tastee-Freeze. As she started to walk home, Levi approached her and they began talking. He drove her home and they became good friends after that. They could talk about anything. Their friendship gradually grew into love and she began to think of how she would support him when he went into the army. One day she went to his house to meet him and his step-father wanted to talk to her. He tried to bribe her into betraying Levi. She was taping the conversation as he went up on his bribes. Levi walked in and heard only part of the conversation and thought she had betrayed him. He left that night to join the army and refused her calls or letters.
Now twelve years later, his team was called in to rescue a journalist from a terrorist who had captured her. The government didn’t want the news of her capture to get out. Levi was stunned and angered to hear her name. However, that wouldn’t stop him from doing his duty. The rescue was too easy and her captor wasn’t who they thought he would be. But then, Blake wasn’t the journalist they thought she was. Even after she got home, she was in danger and needed protection which Levi’s team was to handle.

Mild spoilers: Young love broken by assumed betrayal & a 2nd chance at love as Black Ops & CIA agent

Well ain’t life a b*tch. Levi, a member of the 707, is tasked with rescuing an American journalist from terrorists only to discover it’s his assumed-to-be-betraying ex-lover from high school, Blake Porter, that needs rescuing. But things are not always as they appear - here and now nor in the past. Blake tried to outsmart Levi’s stepfather when he offered her a fortune to leave Levi and convince him not to go to Basic. In the process, she lost the one thing she cared about most - Levi. Blake was an emotional mess, writing, calling & texting Levi daily while he was away at Basic, but she never heard a word from him. Not one. Now Blake is actually deep undercover as a journalist and fears her “kidnapping” may have blown her cover, therefore losing her chance to take out a terrorist who thrives on harming his own people to motivate his sick agenda. Levi is forced to team up with Blake and return to the belly of the beast and seek “safe passage” with the terrorist to a bordering country. On the journey towards the terrorist’s camp, Levi doesn’t trust Blake as an agent in the field and he certainly doesn’t trust Blake with his heart. She’d already ripped it to shreds twelve years ago. Determined to fulfill her mission, Blake presses on with Levi quick on her six - whether she likes it or not. Blake takes the terrorist out, but not without backup from Levi. After making their escape and arriving at a hole-in-the-wall hotel to await the rest of the 707, Levi feels an overwhelming need to be with Blake, one last time. He warns Blake to not mistake their hookup for something it’s not and upon her agreement, gives in to the overwhelming temptation. Soon after, the team arrives and prepares to go home on a helo. A sniper has his sights set on Levi and Blake pushes him out of the way, taking the bullet intended for him. Levi finally decides to give them a chance and says he forgives Blake for her betrayal saying they were both young. Blake is furious - she waited twelve years for him to get his head out of his ass and realize she never betrayed him. As soon as they land stateside, Blake is out of his life faster than you can say FUBAR. Levi must come to terms with his past and decide if he only viewed Blake as a betrayer. Can Levi relive the past long enough to see the truth? Do Levi and Blake have a future? Find out in this emotional, heart-stopping read by Riley Edwards as the third book in the 707 series.

Ahhhh Black and Levi’s book has destroyed me!!

Blake and Levi were dating while in highschool and they were in LOVE. Blake was the nerdy girl and Levi was the star quarterback and yet they matched perfectly. Eventgoigh Levi was great at football he wanted to enlist in the army and Blake was going to be a journalist. Everything was going great for them, until Levi’s prick of a dad tried to pay Blake to make sure Levi don’t go into the military and instead go to school on a football scholarship. Of course Blake wasn’t having it but, like the journalist she was she tried to dig deeper into his father and realized he was into some illegal stuff. Blake is a determined girl and followed her lead. She pretended to be interested in Levi’s dad’s proposal in order to get more information. But unfortunately Levi came in at the worst time and overheard them. Not knowing Blake was faking it, he thought she betrayed him and ghosted her.

At first I thought this was a really rash decision but if your were Levi and all of your life people have only been using you to get the things the want, imagine if you thought the girl you loved was using you too. I would be pretty crushed.

Meanwhile Blake gets really mad and makes it her life’s mission to take down Levi’s dad. This leads her into becoming a reporter slash special forces officer. At the same time Levi’s also in the forces joining the 707 group. And like a twist of fate, when Blake is so close to taking down Levi’s dad, they’re put on a mission together.

This is shocking to both of them to say the least, and I kinda love the enemies to lovers vibes we get from it. Even though they say they hate each other they still both care for each other deadly and throughout the mission they end up falling for each other again.

And let’s just say when Levi finds out that he almost threw away his future with her because of a misunderstanding, he gets very upset. And the fact that Blake’s been in danger the whole time.

I don’t know what it is but I just love me some protective men. I love the fact that they recognize that they couldn’t LIVE without this girl and they do anything to protect them.

I love this whole series so much. and the fact that their kids books are written too is just perfection!

Reassembling Hearts: A Riveting Journey of Love and Redemption

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat: 🔥🔥🔥

Finally Free (707 Freedom #3) by Riley Edwards is a rollercoaster of emotions that grips you from the first page and refuses to let go. As someone who has delved into Riley Edwards' captivating narratives before, delving into the third installment of the 707 Freedom series felt like coming home.

OMG, Riley Edwards has outdone herself yet again! This marks my fourth adventure with her, and the third installment of the series, and I must say, she continues to astound me with her ability to craft stories that are as heart-wrenching as they are addictive.

This book took me on an emotional journey that left me utterly gutted yet strangely fulfilled. The way Edwards weaves together the threads of love, betrayal, and redemption is nothing short of masterful. It's a tale that grabs hold of your heart and refuses to let go, leaving you a mess of emotions by the end.

What sets Finally Free apart is its perfect balance of angst, mystery, and romance. Told from dual POVs, we get a glimpse into the inner workings of both main characters, understanding their motivations and the complexities of their relationship. The chemistry between Blake and Levi is palpable, and the tension crackles off the pages.

The pacing of the story is relentless, keeping you on the edge of your seat with each twist and turn. From the heart-wrenching revelations to the pulse-pounding action sequences, there's never a dull moment in Finally Free. And amidst all the chaos, Edwards skillfully crafts a second chance romance that will leave you breathless.

In conclusion, Finally Free is an absolute must-read for fans of romance, suspense, and everything in between. Riley Edwards has once again proven herself as a master storyteller, delivering a tale that is as emotionally satisfying as it is thrilling. Trust me when I say, you won't be able to put this book down.

history

Of all 4 in this series this book this book feels the shortest (even though it isn’t, amazingly it’s Jaspers story that has the lowest page count!!) and I think it’s because it’s such a story to tell that you speed through the pages desperate to see how it unfolds.

The history, the lives these two have lived running in parallel yet with such a divide between them, the story goes from innocent beginnings, through misunderstandings, misapprehensions and assumptions to dawning realisations, forgiveness seeking and new beginnings.

Another powerhouse beginning to a story with a time lapse to them meeting for the first time, quickly moving on to them meeting as adults and following on to show how despite the weight of assumptions and inaccuracies between them, Levi just can’t seem to see Blake hurt or in danger.
Blake is not the person Levi walked away from, in fact she is so far from that girl it’s laughable and it is actually so enthralling to see Levi discover grown up Blake, have all his assumptions stripped away and be slapped in the face by the woman she has become.

This book is so physical, in both action, intent and steam.

Nice to catch up with the other characters in the series and see where they are too.

5* AudioBook Review
Finally Free A Black Ops Romance by Riley Edwards and narrated by CJBloom + Troy Duran.
This book was amazing if you are a black ops, CIA lover and romance. Which I am. I love anything black ops related and my favorite genres are this and romance so for me a winner.
The narration was brilliant and I love Troy Duran as a narrator, he really brings the story to life.
Story outline: Levi and Blake were sweethearts until she ripped his heart out. They come face to face in an undercover assignment and have to work together, which causes strain since neither can forgive the other for their break up aged 18. Only the assigment starts to turn nasty and they need to rely and count on each other. Does their relationship develop and will Levi discover the truth as to why Blake broke up with him in the first place.
The book is fast paced right from the off, I love the descriptions, the way the author has built strong characters and that our MMC is to die for and Blake, our FMC is sassy, strong and an undercover CIA op.
This book is a must read or listen to if you like these genres. I have never read or listened to a Riley Edwards book before but now, well I'm just going to have to binge on them. This is book 3 in the 707 Freedom Series

Old Lovers Black Ops vs CIA

Gritty, exciting and reads like an action movie with sex in it. The first read-through, I was so-so about a couple of things. The second time, I’m still questioning the reliance on a couple of tropes - the hero admits he’s had sex recently. The heroine says she hasn’t had sex (ie, a relationship of any kind) for five years. There’s a “good” reason for it, I guess, but with a woman who’s as good at what she does *not* to blow steam off that way...personally, I’m tired of that trope. (Saving herself for her true love)

The other WTH moment with me is, Levi never actually says WHY he assumed what he did about her. He was an ass. She took him back awfully fast. Within the set up of the story, while you’re in it, it makes sense, and it’s hot, and they’re good, but hard-bitten or not, I can’t shake that “doormat” feeling. She protests during a mission, but still lets the guys take over.

Levi getting told off at least twice were the highlights of the book.

So, while I might have given this five stars, this aspect of the story irritates me.

This book has sealed my undying love for Riley Edwards. Seriously, I thought I loved Jasper's book but now I have to edge it a little to the side as Levi and Blake is my favourite couple of this series. This book is about 2nd chances, an asshole hero who redeemed himself so beautifully in the end and a well written kickass-take-no-prisoner heroine. I couldn't put this book down, from start to finish I was glued and sucked into the story.

Blake ... Blake ... Blake, she is by far one of the best heroines in this genre that I've read. I love her for Levi, they are suit each other to a T. She is strong but even the strongest person would crack ...

He never came. I waited, but he didn’t want me bad enough to fight.

She broke my heart when she uttered those words.

Levi, I wanted to kick his presumptuous overbearing ass. However, I utterly loved how he redeemed himself and for that, he's no longer in the dog house. Again, I dearly wished that Riley Edwards includes an epilogue. I find it a tad dissatisfying that the story just ends the way it did, I would have loved to read what happened 5, 10 years down the timeline.

This is the story of Levi and Blake. They were deep in love at high school but a misunderstanding saw Levi running and spending the next decade hating Blake and his family.

Blake became a journalist and undercover agent determined to let her past fuel her service. When she is kidnapped and Levi and the 707 are tasked to extract her the past collides with the present.

Blake instantly recognises the voice under the mask, Blake hasn't stopped loving Levi but he has spent forever believing she betrayed him.

Blake has become a hard, skilled and dangerous operative and once the motivations for her missions and the circumstances from the past become clear Levi knows he made the biggest of mistakes.

Will they use this to take down the real reason they were pulled apart? Will they be able to get past the hatred and lies that have festered and will they be able to trust one another to stay alive? Yemen gives them a whole heap of challenges to navigate before the rest of their lives can even be considered

I have loved this series and watching each of the men face their demons once "the one" comes around, or back around in some cases. I didn't love this story as much as the previous two, but I still really enjoyed it.

This is Levi's story.

Levi was the highschool football star. He had offers for full rides to colleges, but he wanted to join the military instead.

Blake was his high school sweetheart. She was going to follow him to where he would be stationed.

But that's not how it worked out because of an evil step father.

We already know that Levi is a bad ass. Blake is also. Clark calls her Rambo.

The story of how they get back together is great, but the end felt really rushed to me. The wedding and then the take down. We never did learn if Levi's mom or sister was in on it with his step dad.

This is still a great read, it just left me with some loose ends that weren't tied up.

Utter dissapointment , not expected from Riley Edwards.
You can't simply erase 12 years of assholery, ignorance, bad behaviour within 2 fucking weeks. The only reason it even earned a star was because I liked badass Blake. Honestly it would have been better if she dumped Levi's pathetic presumptuous ass and moved on with someone better.
Hell I expected long ass grovel possibly half a decade or more of groveling before Blake to even think about giving the asshole another chance
Shit ass emails after years of ignoring her simply on misunderstandings from his behalf and a marriage proposal doesn't not erase years of heartbreak and pain he made the fmc suffer through. Nope this book seriously made me weep and spill angry years because this thing was that fucking bad. I never honestly thought that one of my worst ever reads would come from an author whose novels are something I look forward to reading. I'll now have to detox my mind from this toxic and bad read.

This was book 3 in the "707 Freedom" series. This was a short quick read that I liked. Levi And Blake were high school sweethearts that thought that they couldn't be broken up but then it happened, and their worlds was torn apart, and Levi thought he would never see Blake again. But little did he know his world was about to be upside down. I liked both of these characters and this story fit right in with this series. Blake made it her mission to take down the man who took everything from her when he took Levi from her. They meet up on an op in Yemen and are forced to work together. During their mission Levi realizes he needs to forgive Blake and move on, and Blake finally confronts Levi with the truth. I liked Blake a lot she was a strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I also liked the narrators of this book. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.

What a second chance! Finally Free was the third book in Riley’s 707 Freedom Series. It was a cut throat, action packed, sexy, second chance romance.

Levi was one of the best at his job. His latest mission sent him straight into enemy territory to rescue a US citizen. Little did he know, he was about to come face to face with his past. Would he be able to keep a level head or would Blake throw him off his game?

It’s been 10 years since Blake saw Levi. He broke her heart when he walked away without getting all the facts. She should despise him but her heart seems to think otherwise. Sparks were inevitable, but would they be from hate or lust?

I loved that Blake was such a badass! She took all her heartache and turned it into something she could be proud of. Finally free was all about letting go and getting second chances. It made my heart happy!

I have realised why this series hasn't bowled me over... there is very little plot in any of them. I do sort of like that they get the baddie... and there is no drama about it... but it all seems too... easy? Blake's whole adult life was built around one purpose... and that just ended like that? Mmm. Shakes head.

Hugely massive bugbear... Dickhead oops, sorry... Levi... he blamed her for 12 years... and then a few letters makes it OK. Let's not even mention him finding a way to forgive her. Oh man... his knob must really be magic.

And after everything that she had been through... and the hard work and dedication to her job... she is just happy to be married & have kids ( woahhh, nothing wrong with that... but that a Huuuuge volte-face... ).

Oh gawd... part of me is wishing that I had stuck to my original thoughts and not read this series... but, hey-ho... one to go!!

Levi and Blake are a badass couple I bet they will be kicking ass and takes names through their careers. Levi and Blake went to high school together just like Lily and Shane. Just like them, Levi and Blake had broken it after / during high school. Levi thought that Blake had betrayed he and was going to take his step fathers money in order to keep Levi from going into the Army. Blake had no intention to have Levi give up his dream of being in the Army. Blake tried to explain to Levi what his step father was trying to do, but he wouldn't hear it. Levi tried to forget about Blake and Blake tried to forget about Levi also. But after 12 years all those feelings came back especially when they had to work together to kill an enemy and get the hell out the a foreign country. So it begins how Levi and Blake come back to each other.
