Every man is guilty of the good he did not do….

Undercover cop, Hunter Lawe, knows all there is to know about betrayal. A past full of abandonment and deception taught him to distrust everyone. Seductive Ruby Leigh Dupree may hold the key to his redemption, but never his heart. He’s on a quest to right the failures of his past. He’ll use anyone to get the enemy, no matter the cost.

Ruby Leigh Dupree, running from a past she can’t remember, settles in the town of Spencer, Colorado. Night terrors and scars keep her awake at night. When a man from her past walks in the door of the Wild Card Saloon, she’s forced to confront the demons from her nightmares. As difficult as it is to trust someone—especially a stranger—she has no options. Hunter Lawe says he has the answers.

Chicago cop Hunter Lawe had been after a serial killer for years. He finds the one woman who escaped from the villain, but she doesn't remember what happened.

Ruby's relationship with Ace, her boss at the saloon, shows her compassionate side. And I liked the scene where Ruby makes Hunter laugh - it shows they will help each other heal.

This hot romance with suspense will keep you up at night!

Sleepin' Alone is another fantastic addition to the Aspen Gold Series. Bernadette Jones writes characters with such compelling storylines that I couldn't put the book down. Hunter Lawe has been so involved and in so deep on his undercover assignment that he no longer really sees himself as the good guy. He sees himself as a failure who needs to right the perceived wrongs he has committed. So when Ruby Leigh shows up, he doesn't believe a single word she says. Ruby has some nasty wounds, a big bump on her head and no memory of several months of her life. She makes her way to Spencer, Colorado and decides to stay a while as it's the first time she's felt safe in a while. She hope eventually she will remember the gaping hole of time... So when Hunter sees her and accuses her of terrible things, she doesn't know what to think as she just can't remember. Will Hunter protect her or use her for bait and cut her loose when the opportunity arises?

I was so involved in the story, it felt as if I was in the story. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next and I laughed and cried along with the characters. It's not often a book transports you so fully away into its pages, but Sleepin' Alone was that book. It is a part of the Aspen Gold Series, but does stand alone so you can read and not be lost. Enjoy!

This is my first book by Bernadette Jones and it won’t be the last! Sleepin’ Alone takes us back to Spencer, Colorado where we meet new friends and revisit some old.
Ruby has a past that she can’t remember, Hunter has a nemesis he wants to capture are the two connected? Can they help each other or hinder the process for both? Will Ruby’s memory come back in time to capture the criminal or will she forever have a past she doesn’t remember? Will Hunter get over his obsession to help them both? Lots of questions that keep you reading with lots of surprises along the way! I really enjoyed this book and recommend you read it!

This is Book 6 and I couldn’t be more excited to move on to the next story. Spencer, Colorado is a special place where everyone is family but not necessarily by blood. The Lodge is the place of wealth, civic activity and many times love. The Wild Card Saloon seemed to be the center of this story and I loved the way Ace, Ruby and Hunter could gather a crowd, solve problems and enjoy life. There is heartache, crime, solutions and secrets to be held here in the mountains. I loved the book. And, I loved getting a touch of Murray again!

Spencer, Colorado just got a whole lot hotter!

I LOVED this book! Sleepin' Alone was a thrilling adventure of a book. With a steamy (and I mean STEAMY) romance, a murder mystery, and plenty of personal angst, Jones gives you a great ride from start to finish. Unable to put it down, I finished it in one sitting and I loved seeing a different, darker side of Spencer.

If you love romantic suspense, you'll love Sleepin' Alone along with everything Bernadette Jones writes. Put this and all of her books on your TBR, you won't regret it.

What she can't remember...

Bagby led her to her car and settled her behind the wheel. He watched through the open window and waited as she started the car. Leaning forward, he reached in and set the trip button to zero.
“Listen careful. You take this little VW and point it down the highway to the west. Don’t look back. Don’t come back. As far as he knows, we both died in that house fire. The only way we’re gonna keep living is if we stay dead. You got to hide. He leaned in closer. “Don’t use your credit cards or social security number. Ever. And get yourself a new name.”

“I don’—”

“Remember your promise, one-hundred miles.” He ran a dirt stained hand over his bald head and down his worried strained face. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think— Go start over Ruby Leigh. Forget me. Forget DeMitri. Forget you were ever here.” Bagby straightened and tapped the roof of the car.
He was gone.

I didn't want to put this down, which led to a couple of really late nights followed by groggy mornings. The characters were all strong personalities but they were also able to collaborate with each other in service of their united goals. The heroine is easy to like, and while it takes longer to get to know the hero, he goes through a believable transition from dark to light. The writing is engaging and the romance is hot and sweet. This is an entertaining quick read. I'm looking forward to the other novels in this series.

Oh my hotness!! I could not put this book down. I started reading the day I got it and I was hooked from the very beginning. Couldn't go to sleep until I finished the entire book. I was tired, but had to see what happened. I'm reading it a second time so I can remember more of the details. Suspense, mystery, tenderness, steamy romance, great character development... It's like "Bad Boys" movies meets steamy romance. Lol. Totally my jam.

I will definitely be reading more by this author!

This is my first book in the Aspen Gold series and I should have started it from the beginning. That being said, I loved this book. I never summarize a book I've read, because if you want to know just buy it and read it. So again, buy this book. The characters are true to life, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and there is a hero to die for. So again, read it. I gave it five stars because it will remain on my keeper shelf.

Betrayal

Betrayal is devastating especially for Hunter. Betrayal by many people can leave one jaded. So many times I wanted to scream at Hunter, but kept reading. Each character was vital to telling the story. I want Deke’s story.
