Rate this book
Book Description Clinical Point Selection is a guide about how to create acupuncture treatments based on Classical and Traditional Acupuncture, Nei Dan Internal Meditation and my own insights, combined they comprise Twicken-Style Acupuncture--a channel-based approach to selecting channels, acupuncture points and areas for treatment. Clinical Point Selection is not like common books that list acupuncture points by the conditions they claim to treat. The book includes a detailed explanation how acupuncture works based on Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, which can change the way a practitioner views what occurs in an acupuncture treatment (the acupuncture activity). Treatments based on that Chinese medical understanding shifts the practitioner's understanding from a lock-key acupuncture point approach, meaning each point treats a long list of conditions, to a channel lock-key approach--each channel can treat any of the conditions related to its channel and its organ. This approach allows for a wide range of treatment possibilities which provides the practitioner with the guiding principles for customizing treatments for each patient. Clinical Point Selection provides a treatment approach that brings a high degree of practitioner involvement into their practice. The guiding principles and applications in this book remove the hope and belief out of acupuncture practice and focus on skill as the basis for clinical effectiveness. Clinical Point Selection includes an approach to treat any condition of a channel and organ. The book includes chapters on treating organs, emotions and pain. The five shen, the effectiveness test, and destination points are essential aspects of this channel-based approach to creating acupuncture treatments. The book includes references from acupuncture classics, and many tables and examples to explain the treatment approach. Clinical Point Selection can be practiced with your existing acupuncture methods or as a standalone approach that can treat a high percentage of conditions seen in a modern acupuncture clinic.
