Who knew Alaska could be so hot! In Juliette Hyland's debut novel, we meet, and instantly crush on, Dr. Rafe Bradstone-celebrity doctor, who has just arrived in the small town of Blue Ash, Alaska. He thinks he's just there to do a favor for a friend (while also bumping up his social media), but then he meets his new partner, Dr. Annie Masters, an ex-army doc and former child star, who Rafe instantly recognizes. Though Annie quickly puts him in his place (love that about her!), there is some serious sexual tension between these two and it last through the entire book. Before long, the doctors are questioning what they are willing to risk for love...and I,for one, was cheering them on!

This was my first Harlequin Medical, and I expected to see a lot of generic medical jargon like "give me 3 CC's..." or "STAT!" or "I need those 3 CC's STAT!", but every time these doctors were at work, it was real. The way they spoke, their interaction with patients, there was nothing generic about Dr. Masters and Dr. Bradstone. There was also nothing generic about the story/plot. There were scenes in this novel that made me hold my breathe and others that made me want to scream. And when it's revealed the doctors have more in common than just being doctors-YOWZA! Did not see that one coming! This love story is a good one, and I highly recommend this book to anyone that believes in the happily ever after.

(I was given an early copy of this novel for free in exchange for an honest review)

4 1/2 STARS!

A can't miss debut! With her first novel, Juliette Hyland brings an intriguing new voice to the Harlequin Medical line. With the first few lines of the book, a vision was painted of a hero I instantly wanted to hug for the sorrow it was clear he had suffered. Once the heroine was brought in with an equally interesting backstory, it was game over. I wasn't putting that book down until I made it to that happily ever after!

Rafe Bradstone had me from hello. He was kind, he was helpful and most of all he was a wounded soul. Who could resist this guy?

Annie Masters was complex. She had a chip on her shoulder, but once we learned her history and why she had her guard up we more easily connected with her.

I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a story filled with a medical forefront but also filled to the brim with chemistry, heart and dramatic fulfillment. There were a couple of spots that could have been delved into a bit more, but overall a tremendously well-rounded debut. I'm anxiously awaiting more from this new storyteller!

What happens when you pair up two doctors both doing their own version of hiding from reality, and lock them into a tiny medical facility servicing a small community in the Arctic Circle? In Juliette Hyland’s debut, she delivers a lot of action, hearts melting as the characters try to trust despite their backgrounds, and of course the betrayals of that very same trust as they hit that critical point of despair.

Hyland creates a fun cast, including characters you can have fun disliking, yet even feel a tiny bit sorry for them, and the two I’m rooting for, Annie and Rafe.

It’s fun learning the backstories in bite-sized chunks, fit in well. The touches she adds when the characters are perceptive, and the other character pushes back, are also enjoyable.

It’s a wonderful debut, and in case you want to see where the story goes a few years in the future, the epilogue was a nice touch.

There’s nothing that I can put my finger on why I’m saying 4 stars rather than 5, since I’ve taken too much time to write my review. Part of it might be that the books that really grab me tend to be fantasy and paranormal.

When Dr. Rafe Bradford travels to Blue Ash, Alaska to fill in at a small local clinic, he plans to return to L.A. in a few weeks. Helping out at the clinic will look good to his social media followers and, he hopes, cement his chance at a full-time gig on the popular Dr. Dave show, where he’s been a frequent guest.

Dr. Annie Masters has no desire for bright lights or big cities. After spending her adolescence as the star of a popular TV show, she cherishes the quiet of Blue Ash and the clinic she founded as a memorial to her late fiancé, who was killed in Iraq.

As the two doctors work to provide medical care to the tiny outpost town, attraction draws them to each other—but can people with such dissimilar needs build a life together?

Wonderful debut novel from Ms. Hyland! Can't wait to see her future books!

As a long time lover of Harlequin medical books I am always a bit nervous for debut books, however, this is a CAN'T miss! Juliette Hyland has a unique voice that comes off the pages and makes it impossible to put this book down. The character development and arc is great and makes the reader want to cheer for both the hero and the heroine. Definitely take a chance on this book and fall in love with the characters and Alaska setting.

I am not a romance reader. But after meeting Juliette at a writers' conference this summer, I wanted to give her books a try. AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID! This was such a delight. The characters were fun and sexy. The story was cute, the setting very neat (doctors in the artic circle? Heck yes!) I just can't write enough good things about this. Just a stinking joy to read.

4 1/2 Stars so I rounded up to 5 stars!

I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading a Harlequin Medical Romance book and I was little apprehensive about reading it and what to expect. But boy was I so glad to be wrong and surprised. Juliette Hyland's debut medical romance novel is a must read you have to add to your tbr list.

If you enjoy Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Party Series and Kimmery Martin's novels, then you are going to love this book!

This book was easy to read and very hard to put down. Hyland sets the story and the characters up so that you have some information about them. As the story and the romance develops, so do the characters. I found that the moral of the story is that we can't deny our attraction to our soul mates; love heals all wounds; love makes everyone a better person, especially when you love and accept yourself.
