"This shit is why you always kill the bad guy."

Wanted dead or alive by the law and every criminal this side of the jump gates, there's only one place Caleb and his crew can hide:

Jotunheim.

All the crap in the Nine systems washes up there.

With their rustbucket tugship Starkiller about to cough its last space-mile and credits scarce, raiding a few scrappers rigs is a last resort. Scrappers are hard bastards, but then so is Caleb.

Stealing from the bad guys should be easy, if Caleb's crew can get their shit together. The pressure is on. Trust is a joke. And then there's One. New and improved but just like her old self? Or not...

One says there's a revolution brewing, and she'd know.

Synthetics move among us, their strings pulled by a mad man. The Nine Systems teeters on the edge of a war it can't see coming, and Caleb's crew might be all that stands in its way.

Sometimes it takes bad guys to kill bad guys, and if Caleb's crew have learned anything together, it's how to be bad.

I write kick-ass urban fantasy & sci-fi novels with conflicted characters, breathless action, and no-holds-barred dialogue. My books may not leave you feeling all fluffy and warm inside, but they will excite you. My body is a hollow shell where my heart and soul used to reside before it was cruelly ripped to shreds by the talented Ms Pippa DaCosta.

Resistance can NOT be read as a stand-alone story. At the very least you need to read book #5, though to be honest even that might not be enough and why would you want to deprive yourself of four other books of Caleb filled deliciousness?

There were a great many things about Caleb Shepperd I liked, and none of them were logical.

Oh One, when will you finally get to be free? Please don't let it be out there amongst the stars, on your own. And Caleb, life really has dealt you a crappy hand but despite it all there is still a really good guy underneath all the tarnish and bluster. And the rest of the guys all deserve their own little slice of peace and happiness.

After my reluctant nod, Fran piloted the ungainly Starkiller to the shuttle's coordinates with all the skill and finesse i'd expect of an ex-fleet commander, although I'd never tell her that. Her ego was already big enough for the both of us.

Beware, once you step aboard the Starkiller you are in for one heck of a bumpy ride. Up becomes down, left becomes right and enemies become, well, if not quite friends at least temporary allies. This book gave me all the feels, every single damn one, including several that were not welcome, not at all (#passmethekleenex, #uglycry).

Whilst previous work by the author may have inferred intimacy between characters, this was much less subtle in its honesty. Whilst there are no very intimately graphic scenes, we are aware that some characters may get to bump their uglies.

This kiss was nothing but a meeting of mouths and tongue, but it didn't feel like nothing. It felt like safety, and comfort, and warmth. It felt like home.

The ending left me spinning alone out there, amongst the stars, in the black. I'm fairly certain it's obvious from my random mumblings that this story has left me with one HUGE book hangover, and I'm still not quite sure how I'm going to process it. Count the stars...

Listen... I need you to know... you saved me in all the little ways. There ain't no power in the nine strong enough to stop me from saving you back.

Out NOW!

This series, man...

All the good guys are gone.

Pistol fights, pirates, terrorists, and broken fingers. Counting bubbles, a kick in the nuts, death is temporary...

A broken love in the darkest of places and the darkest of times.

"Count the stars."

Sacrifices made, lives lost.

The 1000 Revolution has begun and the nine systems is not prepared.

At first I was so happy to be back in this world. Fran, and Caleb, and One and their constant bickering, the fucked up mess that they are... It was like slipping on an old comfy t-shirt. It brought back memories of all the hours I've spend reading this series. The coarseness of Caleb, his myriad of issues and inability to connect with the people around him was the perfect distraction from a world gone to hell. I had fun. The backstabbing, betrayals and unlikely (and shaky) alliances, everything got my blood pumping. It was delicious.

Fast forward to the last third and dread settled in. I know this author's works and I knew something major will happen that will shake me up. After all this is the next to last book of the series, the stakes must go up. I had some ideas of where things were going and then there was this twist I saw from a mile away. And I thought "She's loosing her touch. Sure it's bad for the characters but it's not that bad and it was kind of obvious that she'll go there." And then I made the mistake of lowering my guard. Fucking hell the ending slayed me. I knew she's sadistic and enjoys the shit out of torturing both her characters and readers but this was a step too far even for her. But I have to admit it's an effective way to ensure readers will buy the last book. There's no way I can live without finding out how this mess got resolved. And hey I'm delusional enough to still hope for a somewhat happy ending from a Pippa Dacosta book!

eARC provided by the author is exchange of an honest review.

"Count the stars"

Damn, Damn, Damn.

You want an epic Sci-Fi adventure? This is it. The 1000 revolution, is all the epic, all the Sci-Fi you can want and need.

"I can't survive you again"

Yes, it has tropes, yes it hurts greatly, but damn it is so good, just sooooo goooood. It is gut wrenching, heart burning, soul destroying kind of story. It will give you just enough hope to keep going, just enough sweet moments to keep wanting and then, then it will reap your heart out, fuck with your brain, make you lose your soul.

And you will keep coming back for more.

Because, the story isn't over, it's not close to over, and you need to know the truth. You need to see the outcome. So, you will endure, you will pay the price. Whatever it may be. And you will hope that when the end will come it will be huge, epic and happy.

"perhaps we deserve each other"

Here's to hoping.

But, here is another thing - Pippa is not afraid of hurting her characters, and her readers. Which, in a way, is rather rare from an author.

"Stars are wishes and wishes are dreams…"

I received an ARC from the mostest awesomest Pippa Dacosta. It didn't stop me from buying my own copies of the book

So here it is - Resistance, the penultimate book #6 in the 1000 Revolution series by Pippa DaCosta and what a ripper it is! In typical Pippa style, we are dragged through the full gamut of emotions and left wrung out and exhausted at the end. And yes, I'd suggest you keep the tissues close at hand😭.

That said, it's always so good to be back in the Black with this motley crew of space pirates and brigands and we know them so well by now, you can just slip back into them, like a comfy pair of slippers. But seriously, DO NOT get comfortable. Resistance is not a comfortable read. It's fast paced, confronting, heartbreaking, complex, gritty and downright dark and dirty.

Caleb and Fran are back to their snarky best, Caleb and One are trying to work through whatever it is they have going on (and is One still One, and if she is what does that mean, and why doesn't any of that matter when Caleb is near her...) And of course there's still the small matter of a bounty on their head, the entire Nine Systems on their tail and a complete maniac controlling all of the synths that no one else seems to know are walking amongst them...

Be warned, this is not a stand alone read - you need to read the previous 5 books. But you have time😍. And be prepared - the ending is going to make you want to demand that the final book #7, Vengeance, is written, released and delivered immediately to your door 😁.

It's a big 5 ✨✨✨✨✨star read from me 😊.

I don’t fucking deserve you.
Count the stars…

Resistance was a one-sitting read, so the heartache was fresh and raw throughout my reading.

If there's one happy place I love to be, it is with Pippa DaCosta, Caleb and One. Every story in this series has been an emotional one. I wish more people would read The 1000 Revolution series. It is truly amazing and Pippa a fantastic author. Her characters come to life and her plots are adventurous, action packed, and heart breaking.

Thank you, Pippa for giving us Caleb and One. I eagerly await the final book. Please, please, please can we have a HEA? LOL You're going to wreck me, aren't you? I can feel it.

I am deceased. This book has killed me dead.
...when is Vengeance arriving?

As another reviewer said, it's very difficult - mostly impossible - to review this book without giving away the nonstop twists and thrills, the moments of giddy elation and devastating gut-punches. If you've read this far in the series, some part of you knows these will be there, and you might think you're ready for them. You're not.

Brutal, in the most delicious way.

Every single time I read a book by this author, I’m blown away at how talented she is with this sixth book in the 1000 Revolution not being an exception. It was great seeing Caleb, One, Fran, Bren, and Fitz again. These characters are so very complicated in a good way, and I’ve come to enjoy them. Now, if you know this author, this book just torments them right and left, and you are left feeling so wrung out. By the end, when I knew that the author would throw us another curve, I was left feeling like I should curl in a ball. Yes, she’s that good of an author. This is a wonderful addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Well this certainly is a roller coaster ride in the black. Emotionally and adventurously.
You will want to rip Pippa’s arms off and tear out her heart as she does ours. Why, Why, WHY.
But you know Pippa she just has to make us all mad and have us crying.
A lot of twists, backstabbing, betrayal and tension unfolds on the pages, and you feel them all.
You must read all of The 1000 revolution.
And the ending, 😢
Gord knows what she has in mind for the last book.
You really do get to feel and see the characters in this story, they come alive on the page.
Highly recommended, superbly written.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it..
If you haven’t started the 1000 revolutions, you best start reading it now. Well worth it.

Riveting space opera that centers on AI taking over everything. One and Caleb on a collision course with the end of humanity. Gritty, epic story with space battles, betrayal, and one mans quest to find himself. And "One". She will do the ultimate to continue to be herself. Must read in order.

Action right from the start! It’s an edge of your seat book! Every time you think you know what will happen, you’re wrong! There are so many twists and turns you’ll never see anything coming! I couldn’t put this down!

Pippa DaCosta is an evil author - she makes you care about the characters and then she mistreats them.

The synths continue to make life hard for the band of heroes. The synths (or at least their leader) want to rule the worlds and don't care how many humans get killed along the way.

Well, the ending made up for the confused state I was in from the start. I was resigned to the thought that I was following a confusing plot with incompetent main characters and villains, but I was relieved to realize I was wrong. So sneaky of Pippa DaCosta to hide the villain from us like that. I admire it. I may reread this book again to see the clues I totally missed the entire book.

Anyway, I'm happy to tell me that I will, in fact, be buying the next book and that I haven't invested in the series for nothing. I still don't appreciate Caleb's character, but I'll study my feelings for him at a later time. 6th book already and Caleb is still ruled by his dick and fear.

I don't know how Pippa's gonna wrap up the love triangle scenario she's got going on in the next book, but I already know I'm dreading it. Any of the pairings - Caleb&One, One&Fran, Fran&Caleb, or maybe they're gonna be a threesome... just- none of these are selling. Caleb maybe-loves One, but when she isn't around, he's immediately hard for Fran. If it's a monogamous couple in the end, I call bs. If it's threeway, well that's just disappointing.

Despite all my hang-ups over Caleb, the 1000 Revolution series is a surprisingly hooking read. The world-building unravels quite nicely before your eyes, the characters are unique, and the plot can be twisted. If one's looking for action and plain sci-fi, this series will be somewhere at the top of the list. Idk what the components are for a good sci-fi series but for me, The 1000 Revolution is this:
Ass-kicking - 7/10
World-building - 7/10
Plot (for 6th book)- 9/10
Character arc - 9/10 (though Caleb is, maybe, a four)
Romance - 2/10

Maybe I'll make a shelf for the worst book boyfriends ever. I have to get over my disappointment over him and so i might make it a challenge to find more like him. This will be fun.

P.s. This is a non-review and more like a diary so if anyone's reading, don't mind me lol.

Disclaimer: to be fair, Kate Daniels spoiled me with goooood ass-kicking scenes and a Together-Ever-After thing with characters, not just HEA, so I may be biased about how I look at the series. Still, it's the first series I've ever managed to get through with after soooo long, and after KD so that's a big deal for me.

Waited a long time for this sequel. The team is in a horrible mess but there will be Vengeance

The team of Caleb, Fran, Bren , Fitz and of course, One, are always in deep. When you're in the Black, space, a pirate, a fixer, ex-fleet and a Self aware Synth or Synthetic, there's always a chance you're going to have a bounty on your heads. A million worth when you're also called terrorists. Only those who put the bounty out are the real criminals. They just want something from them and enough to get everyone to turn on you. When that something is One, the life memories of Haley Hung, daughter of the creator of the synthetics and he made one more than allowed, and that one has the memories of the daughter he murdered and she becomes her own person, she calls herself One, not One Thousand and One. Only the creator is now a Synth himself and killed by his own creation, One, the team can't convince anyone he wasn't real except a group called the Fenrir 9. The 9 have been replaced By The very synthetics they can't acknowledge, everyone everywhere is against them when they are taken down, the governing body of Chitec is taken down, well anyone and everyone will take a shot at the bounty. Only it's a renegade Chitec tech, who has the bounty because he wants One for himself. Only the pirates and terrorists plot together when they see Synths who look like people all speak at once and fire on them. Somebody finally believes them. Interested yet? What if the Dead synth come back and take over your love interest, One? What if she has to corrupt her own code to protect her friends from being killed by her if she's ordered to do so? This isn't the end of the 1000 Revolution. A future sequel called Vengeance, just may answer that, or not...

this unforgettable series keeps getting better

I am so lost to these characters, to these beautifully done plot twists, to the way DaCosta’s story weaving makes my heart drop, my eyes weep, and my gut clench. I live for the rare sweet moments, and the constant punches that are never pulled.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes! God, the situations these characters are put in, the choices they have to make to save each other. UGH. It’s so perfectly done and there’s no way to see what’s coming next.

I have to agree with my daughter when she walks around the house upset because an author leave a story with unfinished business. She grumbled, "Authors are mean people!" I started with audio books for this series, but had to breakdown to buy kindle books to get this far. Normal I dont like outer space stories but the characters and family dynamics seemed so real I was hooked. Waiting now for the next book

Another good One

The crew is back for another adventure. You can't keep a good man down, even when his luck is all bad. Just when you thought the dead stayed dead. You can only count on those closest to you. Full of heart ache and heart break. One more time into the dark abyss.

This series continues to entertain...! Admittedly, I miss Fran's slippery loyalties from earlier stories (she is by far my favourite character in these books). I still can't quite get my head around "human falls in love with robot/android/synth/whatever" trope, but this series handles it well. DaCosta churns out addictive reads and keeps the plot rolling. Neat twist at the end.
