FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE FAST-PACED AVENGING ANGELS SERIES COMES THE THIRD BOOK IN A NEW HEART-POUNDING WESTERN ADVENTURE!
An ostensibly simple, but hazardous job of delivering some much-needed nitroglycerin components to a burgeoning railroad town in the Arizona Territory proves problematic for the trio of River Hicks, Connor Mack and his twin sister, Abby.
Along the way they rescue a Chinese man on the verge of being lynched by a pack of crooked deputies. Moved by the Chinese man’s tale of his quest to free his beautiful fiancée from the savage grip of human traffickers, they are surprised and dismayed to find the girl is being held in the town of Woodman, which is their own destination.
The town is run by a brutal, self-aggrandizing strongman who has taken over and renamed the town after himself. This self-anointed Duke also has ties to a mysterious financial backer who, unbeknownst to everyone, has enlisted an unscrupulous Pinkerton detective and a professional killer, known as The Regulator, to track down and kill Hicks, Connor, and Abby.
All trails unite in the dusty streets of the small, Arizona town where Hicks, Connor, and Abby come face to face with the vicious array of killers for a final showdown they soon realize has become a killer’s choice.

Just before arriving at the town of Woodman, Hicks, and Conner rescue a chinaman that was going to be lynched. When the man regains consciousness, he explains that he was in search of his kidnapped fiancé. His search led him to Woodman. The three talk it over and Hicks agrees to try and help him free his fiancé. Hicks and Conner meet with the mayor of the town and agree to deliver the nitro that the Railroad had sent. Both felt that there was a bad vibe to the town, and they would have to walk easily if they wanted to accomplish their mission of rescue and get paid for the job. Things go to hell and a handbasket and they end up fighting for their lives in a showdown.
What did I like? It seems like the kids just get out of one scrape and trouble falls on top of them. But heck if it didn’t, we wouldn’t be reading a book. This one is really an intense, action-filled storyline, that requires all the cunning of each one of them to get the job done. I love the relationship between the twins and how they interact with Hicks. I still have not figured out the connection but there is always the next book.
What will you like? Wowsah, this is filled with incredible action that just keeps popping up on almost every page. The storyline is amazing and develops into this remarkable story that just fills your heart. The characters are just as unique and different but fit the attitude of the nutcases that ran in the west during the 1800s. I really did not like this guy one bit and loved his retribution in the end. SO, FITTING!!!!! I read this all in one sitting and just could not put the book down, I am sure you will feel the same way. Great job and an awesome read.
Never tire following Hicks, Conner, Abby, and the constituents, they meet during their entertaining revelations throughout the old American western frontier! No slow downs in this compassionately entertaining story of unending exciting, and somewhat heartwarming, episodes of unending adventures!
Definitely another five star masterpiece by Mr. Hart, as this outstanding descriptive series of realistic old American folklore storytelling at its very best! I was a little disappointed in the usage of demeaning use of God's name in vain throughout this, otherwise compelling story of unending exciting adventures. Hicks finds himself contained in jail and needs the help of Conner and some locals to extricate him! Things really get tight then, as they all take the fight to the bad guys! Mr. Hart's outstanding character selections, as always, could not have been any better portrayed throughout the entire book and the good guys suffered as well as the bad guys from beginning to end! Too, the storylines successfully maintains your undivided attention from beginning to end, as the Author leaves no stone unturned in his determination to bring justice to those responsible for their wrong doings! Certainly recommend this compassionately outstanding portrayal of realistically renditions of how I perceived our old American West was finally tamed! Their is humor suspenseful episodes, as well as ongoing gunfighting throughout the entire book! Definitely worthy of your time to follow this mixed match trio when they move from one area to another! Enjoy!!!😃
More Exciting Heart Throbbing Western Action! A.W. Hart's third novel with the Avenging Angels continues to keep readers in the edge of their seats with its familiar characters in fresh adventures! Hart definitely earns readers' loyalty.
Well written western book. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to you. This is the first book of this series I have read. I may have to go back and catch up.
I liked this book, it was well written and is full of action. The characters, Hicks, Conner and Abby fight and bring justice to a town run by a ruthless mayor. Needless to say, if you like action and kick butt characters, you will enjoy this book
This was a good read that keeps your interest and attention from start to finish. The story is filled with action and adventure that keeps you on your toes and doesn't ease up.
The book had just enough suspense to make me keep reading and not stop. I like the way Mr. Hart is filling out each of his characters and the way they play off each other.
River Hicks, Abby, and Connor fight a mob boss. The man controls most of the town, taking cuts from businesses and running a house of gambling and prostitution and sex trading. The trio must also reunited a Chinese couple. Lots of fighting and gun battles.
This is a really great Western story. It appears however this is anothebook where the editor was given time off and failed to properl check it! Hence four stars!
