Villain Daddies #4

Mountain Daddy

Rate this book
Eden

I have to get away from the bustling city life, away from high expectations and away from demanding voices telling me what to do every single second. Having a mother whose greed comes before her daughter and a father too passive to talk back to his wife, I can’t stand my mother breathing down my neck and controlling every aspect of my life.

That’s why I choose to leave them.

I have no destination in mind, just simply getting away from the city is my goal. A town with mountains behind it sounds intimidatingly appealing.

Then I meet the big, grumpy, and very strong Callen.

He’s everything I’m trying to avoid. Controlling, domineering, and possessive.

Callen

I have been in the mountains for too long, and it’s my choice to stay away from civilization. Being a convicted felon doesn’t sit well with the people in town and I honestly don’t give a damn about what they think.

I prefer solitude, and when a little girl came barreling into my world with that lost look on her pretty face, I knew my life would soon change.

Nothing brings a spark more explosive than this obsessiveness curling in my stomach when I see her.

I had to have that tempting and barely legal girl.

Prison has toughened me up more than I already was, and her trusting nature makes her too big of a target for any man thinking of her untouched body.

She trusted this savage beast of a man to keep his hands to himself and protect her from danger.

Two years and counting, my babygirl still believes I’m a good man.

Couple: Eden and Callen
Meet: Wilderness (Literally)
Problems: Well, Eden's escaping her family and Callen decides to "kidnap" her to protect her from said family.
Side notes: You should be aware that there are certain triggers and the circumstances for why they're together might be too much.
Plus, some people might see the heroine as having "Stockholm Syndrome." You will have to read the book to decide.

First, this is my first book from Celia Crown. Please read the cover where it states "Dark Daddy Romance" because Ms. Crown doesn't mess around. You want dark, you've got it. Eden and Callen have a "Daddy" and almost caretaker relationship. He rules her world and she lets him. Part of the problem that some people might have with the book is that Eden seems fragile. Well, she's not really that fragile. Second, Callen can be a jerk or at least, he can come across as one. Their living arrangement is literally in seclusion in a cabin---for a reason. He's not a Saint and has a criminal background. However, you need to go into this book with an open mind. Yes, there is turmoil and conflicts that will arise and how they choose to deal with it makes the story intriguing.

Overall, I enjoyed the book; but I had to read it several times.

Eden ran from her family when they tried to use her to gain access to money her grandfather left her. Callen is an ex-convict that lives alone in the mountains and is happy doing so. He doesn't think he is missing anything until he finds Eden and knows he has to keep her. Eden loves being with her Daddy and pushes her boundaries to see what he'll let her get away with doing. However Daddy is very strict and wants to makes sure she stays healthy and happy with him. When he leaves to go get supplies for them he warns her to stay inside the cabin and not t answer it if someone should come upon it. It isn't until he sees her being dragged off his mountain that he loses his cool. Will Callen be able to get his baby girl back? What will her parents do if they find her?

This is a great dark romance once I started it I couldn't put it down. However it may not be for everyone so if you don't like this genre of romance this story isn't for you. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Celia Crown never disappoints in her story telling I can't wait to read her next one.

They are happy in the life they have, it is not for us to judge if it is right or wrong.
by sewsummore

Eden loved her Daddy with his distracting big body, she was his baby had he loved and protected her. They live in the cabin that daddy extended for his baby, far away from the city and her parents whose high expectations she never met or wanted. Callen was an ex convict who had paid his debt to society, he lived alone, far into the mountains until Eden crashed into his life. She trusted him to keep her safe and that is what he would do or die trying. Their relationship is perfect for them both, his obsession for her and her need to be loved and protected. This book blurs the lines between consent and compulsion, Eden obeys her daddy or bottom suffers the consequences but when she disobeys intentionally to get her bottom spanked, it is had to decyper whether it is consent or complusion. The relationship works for them and they are happy in the life they have, it is not for us to judge if it is right or wrong.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Eden and Callen. Eden was from a wealthy family and was living in the mountains with Callen, who was her Daddy. Callen loved his Baby Girl and kept her under strict rules she had to follow, or she would be punished. Eden ran away from her family because her parents wanted to use her for money her grandfather left her, but she hated them. Eden was happy to live with Callen. Callen chose to live in the mountains after he was released from jail and he was happy alone, until he found Eden and decided to keep her. Callen was hiding Eden in his cabin and knew people were looking for her, but he was going to fight anyone who thought they could take her from him. I liked this twisted story. Callen was not a nice man, he was dark and twisted, but i think he did love Eden. He was so protective of her and wanted to be the only one who hurt her. Good one.

May contain spoilers****

This book is not what I thought it was. I thought Eden was running away from her life and she meets "daddy" and they fall in love. Not so, this story starts 2 years later after she was taken by him and brainwashed. I apparently missed the part about Stockholm syndrome which I dont like. He punishes her everything, even talking or looking at him. Is this what people are into, I don't know. One part in the book he talks about brainwashing her and another part he calls her stupid. The brainwashing is so bad she doesn't even want to be called Eden anymore, only babygirl. I disliked every part of the part, I didn't feel any romance only controlling.

I keep finding myself confused with this author. I feel the story has potential but then it's like the words on the page are not what was thought out. The story doesn't flow well and the dialogue and flow is confusing. I feel like the characters could be loved and the story itself would be great if the execution was done properly. I will keep giving the author a try.

This very descriptive and graphic short story that starts after 2 years into her "captivity". It may be consensual, but it is not equal.( He thinks she is stupid and I don't like when you beat someone down like that). This book is very well-written and you feel so many emotions, but this book can be an emotionally triggering. The physical side of their relationship is hot. Emotional Read

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Eden left her family because of controlling issues. Callan released from jail he chose to live up on the mountain. He met Eden and that was when he realised he did not want to let her go.

This is a dark romance and it is very dark with a number of possible triggers. The plot is an interesting one and it compelled me to continue reading till the end. The relationship between the main characters is different and interesting, it’s something that each reader has to decide on for themselves. A great dark book.

2.5 stars I did not enjoy this book it was just too psychotic and cruel for my taste. Eden is an heiress who ran away from her parents and Callen found her wondering on his mountain so he took her and made her his babygirl using a punishment and reward system that was horribly abusive. The book uses terms like Stockhom Syndrome, Daddy and Babygirl but safe and sane are missing from this whole story.

Eden leaves the city to get away form her mother who wants her money. She meets Callen and he knows that he wants her. He begins to manipulate and brainwash her into believing she needs him. When her family finds her, who will Eden choose? Dark read with intense drama and emotion. I liked the story and the characters really drew me in. A good read.

This mountain daddy will definitely do anything and everything to keep his baby girl. Even fight her greedy family. This baby wants nothing but her mountain daddy and she will do anything to stay with him and his dark ways. Even if it means leaving her family for good.

This story starts out with Eden already having been with Callen for almost 2 yrs. He thinks he's brainwashed her into being his babygirl/submissive to his Daddy. She ran away from a family that wants her inheritance. He kills anyone that gets too close to the cabin. Somehow he never gets caught. The ending just dies off. Did they stay together? Did she get her inheritance? Did she have the baby?

I really thought I was going to love this but I didn’t. While the writing was good, I realize I prefer alpha males who are obsessed with the female lead and dote on her and treat her like a Queen. “Daddy” seemed overly focused on his pleasure, oftentimes at the expense of Eden. He often seemed mean and way too controlling.

This is absolutely not a story for my liking. A lot was wrong. Would have liked to read how they came to this place in their lives, maybe that would have helped. But how he treats her is so wrong.
Not one I like.

Could not finish

The description was entirely misleading, no build up between the characters and jumped straight into it.

Got 15% in before I had to call it a day. I just couldn’t stomach either of the main characters

Mountain Daddy is a dark, possibly taboo story of a young, innocent girl willingly submitting to a stronger, more dominant man's will and care. It's equal parts sexy, shocking, and unbelievable.

As I started reading this book, all I had going through my head over and over was "this story is so weird". I found this an utterly strange read and even when I got to the end, I'm not entirely certain I've gotten over how odd this is. It starts very abruptly and with little introduction to Eden and Callen. We learn more about them as the book progresses but the reader is thrown into the deep end from the very beginning and I found myself floundering for a good bit of the time. It's my first taste of Ms Crown's work and let's just say she doesn't ease you into her stories gently. What you get is an experience in "sink or swim". I kinda flopped around like a fish out of water.

Callen is a classic mountain man, I'd say. Rugged, raw, unyielding. He's also rough and unapologetic about the fact that he's a man of indistinct morals. In fact, some would say he's a very, very bad man. To me, he's very much an anti-hero.

Qoutes: I am a criminal, after all. A convicted felon, a killer, and an overall questionable character.

While he deals with people who trespass on his property and those who might harm Eden in swift and rather final ways, he's also very tender (if a little rough too) with Eden. He's unfailingly protective and treats her exactly like he calls her, his "babygirl". You do need to be fairly inured towards daddy kink if you're reading this since there's a lot of that going on. That took me a little getting used to. I'm more familiar with what I'd call "daddy romance lite". This was not lite. Callen has such a firm hold on Eden and her psyche that it's actually a little alarming to read. He has so much control over her, her life, and how she lives that to a fairly independent person it's somewhat astonishing. I honestly would not like to be in a relationship with someone like Callen. I'd be rebelling at every turn. Unlike Eden. I mean, if I met someone like Callen in real life, I'd run a mile.

Qoutes: I chuckle, she’s so cute. Her body has long accepted my dominance over her natural submissiveness, and her mental state is easy to shape into a mindset of whatever I prefer. Eden is impressionable, it’s how I got to her so quick. I can’t imagine another man laying his filthy hands on her, brainwashing her into his cruel intentions. I’m not that kind of a man; I just want to shield her from the dangerous world. I’m not doing anything against her will.

As for Eden. Well, she's like a limp, wet dishrag. At one point I thought she was an idiot. I've never met a weaker, more submissive, more spineless heroine. She's quite literally incapable of doing anything, taking care of herself, or making any serious decisions. She' completely and utterly under Callen's control and she likes it that way. In fact, when Callen seems displeased with her, she will do anything in the most subservient way and accept any punishment to get back into his good graces. That said though, she does have a few tricks up her sleeve to get what she wants from Callen... within reason. I'm pretty sure Callen is up to her tricks. I admit that there are times when I do like a weak and submissive heroine but I think Eden takes this to an entirely new level I've yet to experience until now.

Qoutes: My babygirl is fragile in body and mind, she’d had become a dutiful homemaker within a month of being held captive by me. That is putting it loosely, she was never truly a prisoner. She could have walked out the door if she wanted to, and I would have taken her back to town if she asked, but honestly speaking, I wouldn’t have done what she asked even if she begged me for her freedom. The transition from being a little girl alone in the world to an obedient housewife that acts similarly to a puppy is the final phase of her brainwashing to becoming my precious little girl. Her isolation makes her rely on me, and her dependence makes me drunk on that naivety. As a despicable man, I am proud of this life we built from trust and interdependence.

I don't know if all of Ms Crown's heroines are like Eden but I'm willing to find out. As strange as I found this book, I also quite enjoyed it even if I considered not finishing it early on based on the weirdness factor alone. That whole dynamic between Eden and Callen took a lot for me to wrap my head around.

Ms Crown is a new to me author and I think bizarrely enough even though this story was a total mind-bender I'm willing to try another one of her books. There's another book of hers with TWO daddies in it. Imagine what that's going to be like!! :-O
