Get your tissues out for this one."★★★★★ "An impressive series. This author has 30 best-selling novels.BOOK 1DI Alan Williams is called to the recovery of two bodies from the sea at Trearddur Bay, during a storm. The lifeboat crew suspects they're fishermen, washed away by a wave but they’re wrong. Alan and his detective sergeant, Kim Davies, realise the men were beaten and tied together before they entered the water. Two miles along the headland at Porth Dafarch, a third victim is found but there are no obvious links. As the number of victims increases, a major investigation team battles to unravel a deadly puzzle that, appears to have links to a series of historic murders from the 90’s.In 1995, Peter Moore owned and operated the cinema in Holyhead. It is thought he assaulted over 40 men and he was arrested and charged with four murders, which he’d committed in as many months. He was jailed for life in 1996 and is still the only recorded Welsh serial killer.Fast forward to today and Detective Inspector Alan Williams is investigating a series of murders with uncanny similarities to the Peter Moore attacks. Is there a copycat on the loose or are the murders connected to the local underworld, which controls the supply of narcotics across North Wales and the North West? Finding a motive is the challenge he might not win. All books in this box set are really good. I enjoy Conrad’s no-nonsense way and although fairly dark and violent, he writes a gripping story. the final two in this set focus on a true account of his hunt to unveil the people behind a sick cult. Truly fascinating!
What an Author!!! Stephen King eat your heart out, the UK has someone who can write books with a sick imagination like you. I started reading the first book, couldn’t put it down and so it went on until I finished them all. I still have questions unanswered!!! But then there are more books to read and read them I will. Highly recommend this Author as a must read, any time any place I personally guarantee you will enjoy reading them.
Just finished the first of these, and I suspect the only one I will attempt. Somewhat sensationalist. Attempts at tension didn't really hit home for me, and the wrap up of strands of plot felt a bit rushed. The way in which the police took the final step with the killer relied too much on coincidence, and the plot line involving the larger police operation was wrapped up very quickly and easily.
Addictive, nail biting, fast moving, a roller coaster of emotions, yet compulsive reading
This series is very difficult to put down. It is very thought provoking, but it is extremely believable. Also intriguing, as I know most of the place names and areas. I've visited most of them as I have friends and relatives all over Wales
I Didn’t like the 2 books about the cult but the rest are fantastic. I just struggled with the author’s name being the protagonist and I found the storyline a bit darker than his other books in the series. Conrad Jones is one of my favourite authors and these are the only 2 books I have ever struggled with by this author.
Well if I was looking for somewhere to have a holiday I would think twice about Anglesey. Bodies, drugs and murderers, pedoes and serial killers abound. Huge sections of the island covered in derelict buildings and a deadly coastline just waiting for the next victim to be heaved into the surf. Sounds just the place for a bracing fortnight.
Totally gripping. Violent but not scary. I read book one and was hooked before halfway through. I read all 10 books one after the other. The storyline was brilliant and the police were so believable. Surprisingly there was also a lot of humour which made the books so readable.
This book is violence end to end. But it’s also completely mishmash. Whatever they did to convert it to Kindle, the index only sites book one, chapters are duplicated in some cases triplicated. It’s Awful.
What wonderful books I really enjoyed these books, the characters are really well written, the place description s are brilliant I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crime books
These books from a very fast moving series with a shocking conclusion. Some may find some of the content distasteful and maybe even disturbing, but it's beautifully written with vivid descriptions of the North Wales countryside.
I was hooked from the get go loved how you used yourself along with fabricated entities proper reeled in still don't know if this is fact or fiction which makes it all the more believable
I enjoyed these books immensely. They are descriptive but not overly so, sometimes gory and sometimes funny. My only problem was not being able to pronounce any of the Welsh names.
Having family relations living on Anglesey and in particular Holyhead these books are so realistic. To be able to know so many of these places really makes you think about what is going to happen next. Absolutely brilliant!!!!!
I thought I only read 5 books? All good stories of somewhat gruesome and sometimes protracted. The detectives follow their noses and evidence presents itself in surprising places.
Yet again I've been unable to put these books down,I just love how Conrad writes and isn't scared to bring just about anything up as a topic. Just about to start book 6,really looking forward to it.
Fascinating story whether you believe in such things or not. Occasionally a bit too grisly and gruesome for me but I am very squeamish…..however it adds authenticity to the story
Im hooked! I’ve read all of his books now and all I can say is “more please”! Conrad James is a master crime novelist and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
Ì rarely stop reading a novel but in this case i left it far too long. I will never read a book of his again, in my opinion self indulgence shines through.
I loved the first two books, the third was OK, and then I really did not like the 4th book. I enjoyed the narrative about DI Alan Williams rather than book 4 that was it from the author's point.
Anglesey is a place that is on my bucket list to visit using Conrad Jones books as a guide it would seem to be a dodgy place to go hah hah Thanks for a good read
