Space, a 30-day devotional, will help you learn how to create sustainable rhythms of work, play and rest while reminding you that God loves you for who you are, not for what you can do. Raised in a home that valued productivity over everything else, Manda was enrolled in multiple activities at all times and lived in a constant hurry from one thing to the next. In college, she nearly killed herself going to school, competing on the track team, and working at three different jobs —one of which was the graveyard shift stocking shelves at a beauty supply store. Manda had no idea how to function without an overwhelmingly busy schedule or leave room for rest. Eventually, she became physically ill, crabby, and emotionally drained. In 2018, God's voice caught Manda's attention in the midst of a run and the call for space was clear. Though she didn't have a clue how to change the pace of her life, God made it clear one step at a time until her life looked entirely different and her mind, body and spirit were transformed. "This is more than a helpful or inspiring resource. It is an invitation that takes you by the hand and dares you to reset. Manda walks with you and leads you closer to Jesus every step of the way. Every woman feeling that she is overwhelmed, exhausted, or lacking space needs this!" - Jordan Lee Dooley, Bestselling Author of Own Your Everyday
This is my most-favorite devotional I’ve ever read. I’m so thankful I read this devotional during my freshman year of college since it positively impacted my next 4 years, but it can be applicable to anyone at any stage of life. I’ve shared it with multiple friends and seen how this book completely revolutionized how so many of us viewed busy schedules, free time, rest, and productivity. Manda challenges readers, without pressuring or making them feel insufficient. This devo is actionable, empowering, and well written.
Space will help you learn how to create sustainable rhythms of work, play, and rest, each day focusing on a new way to make space. The writing was engaging and the stories were the perfect length to give insight but not over explain the basic information (like some other devotionals do).
I enjoyed this book, and paired it with two other space- adjacent reads that complemented it well (Free to Focus and The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry). It was a quick daily devotion that really had me thinking about space in my life.
This was my second time reading through this devotional, and I got more insight through this new season I’m in. Manda shares such good, practical, and biblical advice for creating a life with space. We need space in order to be present and hear God. Such a good reminder to not jam-pack your schedule and to reflect on activities that are taking up your time, but not feeding your soul.
