Fawning, blind, and unearned adoration for the new 'heroes' combined with cartoonishly evil portrayals of the 'villains'. Exactly the kind of tasteless pap you'd expect from the team responsible for the new films.

Snoke - 4 ben’s struggle between good + evil was v apparent here ‘ben please stop’ oof 😢 anyways we don’t like bullies in this household
Rey - 3 fun but didn’t really get anything extra
Kylo - 4.5 can’t lie this was badass and had me smiling the whole time
Maz 3.5 maz is a queen that is all, why ship reylo when you can ship mawie??

BB8 - 3 ‘there is one simple truth in life: BB-8 is better than all of us’ FACTS
Overall 5 stars because I loved the art and the additional insight!

The world of the Sequel Trilogy hasn't had nearly as much time to grow on fans as the OT or PT eras have, but it's getting there. These nine side stories deepen the world of this still-neglected period, giving us welcome glimpses into other adventures and deeper character development with both the Resistance and the First Order. Still, what I wouldn't give for a Palpatine and Snoke miniseries to fill in some of the blanks!

I think all I can say is this one was painfully trite. It made Finn look goofy, and I’ll never be down for Holdo being in any way responsible for Poe being the amazing pilot he is. Rey’s was okay until the random “free the Jawa slaves from a space junkyard” part. 2 stars just for BB-8 giving poor Poe a heart attack, because I love how Poe cares about BB-8.

Edit: I have now finished 'Age of Resistance', these comics are spread out all over the timeline so I had to keep coming back to them. You can find all of my 'Star Wars' reviews here.
Special 1 is actually comprised of three short stories and while they were all good, none of them have much of a chance to leave a big impact. My favourite of the three was the introduction to Amilyn Holdo as she makes a brief but big impression in 'The Last Jedi'. Anything that fleshes out her character is a plus for me.
Rose Tico was an excellent story for all of the same reasons. Tico is a rather infamous character in the fandom because she wasn't handled well by Lucasfilm at all. I always thought she was nice but her big defining moment in the films is incredibly frustrating. Getting some background on her and her sister was lovely and much appreciated, especially because the story was quite sad.
Supreme Leader Snoke was the issue that I was most excited for because I am desperate for any media I can get involving Snoke and Kylo Ren. I didn't even realise it when I started this project but my two main goals were to understand the fall of the New Republic, and understand the intertwined backstories of Snoke and Ben. My only complaint here is that it wasn't long enough, the comics never are!
Poe Dameron was basically a cute little mission, showing off his flying skills and reintroducing some other characters who I won't name in this review. It was a fun comic but doesn't add too much to his lore. Poe benefits from being one of the most fleshed out sequel trilogy characters already which is a blessing and a curse.
Finn builds nicely on the back of 'Before the Awakening' by showing him have further doubts about his place in the First Order. It's always interesting to get a behind the scenes look at the life of a Stormtrooper so I enjoyed this.
General Hux, I only vaguely remember from watching the sequel trilogy. His story here is a mix of tragedy and madness, with a fascinatingly antagonistic relationship shown between Hux and Kylo Ren. When I rewatch the films I'm going to remember to keep an eye on him because I think he has more importance to the series than I remember.
Kylo Ren sees our titular character being full on psycho, doing anything he can to live up to the legacy of Vader. I like how the people around him recognise that is what he is doing, and almost tahnt him for it. Additionally, the return of one of my favourite creatures in this comic was fantastic.
Phasma is a horrifying companion piece to the 'Phasma' novel, showing just how brutal and ruthless she is willing to be. Nobody is worth saving above herself and she won't let
anyone get in her way. I always enjoy seeing from an antagonist's perspective.
Rey fixes something that bugs me so much at the end of 'The Force Awakens' by showing Leia and Chewie having an emotional moment together. That page alone made this comic worth reading. The rest of the adventure was a fun little side-quest on the way to meet Luke. I enjoyed it.

This graphic novel consists of various short stories about all the main characters of the sequel trilogy. None of these stories are especially essential to the new trilogy—with the possible exception of the Rey and Snoke stories. Possibly my favorite stories were the ones on Phasma and Rose, surprisingly. With Phasma we learn about her cunning ability to survive, and Rose’s story is heartfelt with a nice twist at the end. There is also a fun story involving BB8 at the end that I really liked. Some of the stories are kinda forgettable, and between each story is an article on the particular character that feels like straight Disney propaganda praising the characters of the sequel trilogy. Still a fun read.

The Finn comic and Age of Republic special shorts were fun, and the Rey and Rose comics were both really good stories in addition to being well-illustrated, which isn’t easy to do in 20 pages. The Poe comic was a bit meh but nicely drawn. The choice of cover art seems strange though when there is so much gorgeous art inside the book where the characters much more closely resemble their onscreen selves.

Wow, we love to see a win!!! Some of the SW comics have been lackluster and very mediocre, but this one really nails it. Almost every single issue was enjoyable and added something to each character's story. The issues I felt were the strongest were the stories about Finn, Poe, and Rose. There were only a few in here that were a little off, like Hux (which makes no sense in the context of things that happen in RoS). Overall, really great artwork and stories.

Great fun and more filling out of the backgrounds of some of the characters from the sequels.
Not a bad little collection of tales and quite entertaining.

Five stars. Probably the best exploration of the sequel canon I've seen so far. Gets to the heart of each character in a way that is truly impressive. Love it.

This was a fun compilation of comics. There was one for a number of the main characters. The very last one about bb8 was the best.
