Beauty and the Beasts

Rate this book
As soon as she fell into the world of beastmen, a leopard forcibly took her back to his home. Indeed, Bai Jingjing is at a complete and utter loss. The males in this world are all handsome beyond compare, while the women are all so horrid that even the gods shudder at their sight. As a first-rate girl from the modern world (she's even a quarter Russian) Bai Jingjing finds herself sitting at the center of a harem filled with beautiful men -- at the very peak of existence.

I understand cultural differences and all but to say someone with freckles is "way ugly" is sort of irritating.

I have this one paused. The writing is poor. The female lead is so annoying, like, really annoying. It's disgusting the comments she makes about other females bodies. The fatshaming is real, even if they are not even fat. She keeps acting like she is the prettiest and better than anyone else. Her way of thinking is truly immature and annoying. I honestly wish the wolves ate her. Maybe I'll keep going in the future but I don't recommend it to anyone, specially girls that have eating disorders or body dysmorphia.

Ongoing rh novel, has TRIGGERS
Translation is okay but I’m still grateful since my Chinese abilities suck
I read the webtoon before this and already knowing the characters in my head was great for my wild imagination!!

The fat phobia in this was shocking, absolutely shocking.

In the second chapter, the main character calls very normal looking girls ugly and fat. She even screams "they're wearing crop tops even though they have flabby bellies", as if that is some sort of crime. MC claims she pities all the men on the planet because none of the women look like her. And she's supposed to be likeable!

Could not continue without severely triggering my ED.

This is a guilty pleasure webcomic. I can't believe I'm all caught up.
This isn't good. It's not. The only thing objectively good about this is the art.
Cons:
1. 16 year old magically goes into a world of anthros with zero explanation and "marries" a dude in his forties.
2. Males are shapeshifters, and have animal ears and tails, but females have no animal characteristics whatsover.
3. 1000 to 1 male to female ratio is impossible.
4. All women are "ugly", and as the narrator describes: freckles, high noses, squinty eyes. Not skinny. If we're doing animals going into estrus and double headed penises in snakes, build is important when birthing.
5. Every single dude in this manga forces himself on her, and she just falls in love with them.
6. She alternates between being very technologically adept, i.e. makes flour mills, water wheels, etc., and infruriatingly stupid. She also has the weakest constitution ever.
7. There is no plot. It's not episodic. It doesn't follow arcs, and there is no overall story. She has made no effort to go back to her world.

Pros:
Art is cute. Some characters are tolerable. And I can't stop reading it. I don't know why.

I don't recommend this at ALL. If you read it, be aware of what you are getting into. It is a typical shojou with a weak female mc, sexual harassment that she finds charming, and asshole members of the harem.
Someone explain why I can't stop.

So the art style in this is pretty decent, I really liked it and the story is very interesting and cute with a good premise but boy it was triggering, fatphobia and body shaming, etc, it has some issues that I couldn't get past, so I dnf-ed at maybe 50% , because it is still on-going.

Oh and It is a reverse harem, with animal and bird shifters.

Bai is a very immature girl who manages to constantly get pregnant, the fat phobia and emphasis on being 'pretty' is shocking (I have freckles and for them to be classed as ugly I took personal) she manages to get into more trouble than the mystery gang who are literally hunting for it, then she just sits and waits to be rescued.
Saying all of that I did find the read a guilty pleasure, mostly because she's surrounded by hot beast men who just want to impregnate her
