Surviving Middle School beautifully recaptures the awkwardness of the transition from a child to a middle schooler and puts you once again in that uncomfortable situation giving you a sense of PTSD from your childhood, while at the same time being extremely witty. I haven’t laughed out loud reading a book in so long. If you are an Indian who grew up in Dubai or any of the other countries in the Middle East, it’s going to be a pleasantly nostalgic trip down the memory lane. Perfect for both children going into middle school, as well as, parents who want understand what exactly their children are going through.

A very interesting book to read. Times flies away with you noticing it. This book gives you a laughing therapy, when you are in a ocean of sadness. This book is a path from the ocean of sadness to the ocean of happiness and enjoyment.

Make sure you read this book.

I rate this 5/5

Surviving Middle School is a great first book
Even though it's short book, it's a awesome story! I finished the whole book in one sitting.
My favorite chapter was 'The Accident'.
If you're looking for a new book to read, I recommend you to read this

Surviving Middle School, At first impressions I thought its was gonna be another diary of a wimpy kid but to my surprise it was totally different it was indeed a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The phrases used at certain points in this book are very savvy which instigates children to find out about what those words mean to understand the story as they read thus increasing the knowledge and understanding of the reader, I would recommend this book to anyone from children to senior citizens

The book was all about childhood in Dubai, being a kid and spending your childhood here is what the book consists of, which was somewhat relatable to me as well because even I've lived in Dubai for as long as I can remember.
My favourite part of the book was the "how I met my best friend" chapter because it was a clear proof of how innocent a child is while he makes relationships with people.
It's a great book to relive some of your childhood memories!❤️

This book is a great attempt at recreating the middle school life which varies for each person but in essence is all the same. While some parts fall flat, the majority of the book makes up for it. Special mentions to the illustrator. One of the best I have ever seen recently. Felt very immersive. 3/5. Would recommend for children from age 8-13.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to grow up in Dubai, where 90% of us are expats, this sums it up well. Middle school is a uniquely uncomfortable experience, and this book perfectly summed up the humor and cringe-worthiness. It was simultaneously nostalgic and invoking of memories many of us have tried to forget. A great read for anyone finding their way through adolescence!

As an avid reader, I never read the same book twice, but I’ve read Surviving Middle School a couple of times this month. It’s just a misconception that this book is just for children, in reality its a fantastic stress reliever for adults as well. I’ve genuinely burst out into laughter often forgetting that I’m in a public place. As parents we may think that our kids are over-privileged and that their life is a walk-in-the-park compared to ours, but it depicts the harsh realities of various emotional issues that our children go through daily, which we often fail to realize during our busy schedules. This book is a wake up call to parents everywhere and I highly recommend it to all parents who’d want to understand their child’s behavior and help them survive middle school and emerge successful from it. This book is an inspiration to struggling children everywhere.

"Don't get me wrong now, I am sure glad that I'm perfectly healthy with a blessed family but, I am the least known guy at school."

It's interesting to read about anyone's childhood, but reading about someone who had a personality like Vivek's was refreshing. The writing was simple, fun to read and kept me engaged until the end.

Picked up this book because I was really curious about it and I was definitely not disappointed! The story and the writing style makes me remember my own days in school and it doesn't put school through rose tinted glasses, it just tells it how it is.
It's a very honest and innocent view of how things go and is a short but meaningful read! Please give it a shot because you'll definitely like it :)
