Sean is back in the Onderwereld, but this time it's on his own terms and he brought some friends. Their investigations of the djevels and the race that created the mechanisms that power the gateways bear unexpected fruits however, leading Sean and the rest of the lions to some very unexpected discoveries, as well as results.
But regardless of all of that, there is still a war going on back home and Reno is hanging on by its nails as the djevels have some tricks of their own up their sleeves. Win or lose, when all is said and done, the world that Sean and the rest of his friends will find themselves in, will be a very different one than what they grew up in.

I'm new to the Harem / LitRPG thing (If I'd known more about LitRPG when I wrote Shadow, I might have incorporated more elements of that into it). I have a FT job, so I work on this when I can. Hopefully the next one will be even better. https://stryvant.blogspot.com/
I enjoyed this series and I will miss reading about Sean and the wives hopefully we will get a new series in this universe. Overall it was fun to read and I enjoyed the book wrapping up the story in a way to let us have a good closure of the story.
The final mile of a long strange trip This is the last book of the Valens Legacy and It is nearly perfect. As Jan Stryvant wraps things up He takes a little time to walk down memory line and give up an overview of the whole series. And what an awesome series it has been. 17 books of kick ass hotness. I can't believe it's over. I feel like it's graduation night and I'm never gonna see you cool kids again but so happy for the time we've had together. Great book. Amazing series.
And finally the inner workings between worlds/dimensions is fully explained. Sean was a bit too "I'm a god and what I say goes" near the end but that's much more preferable to him fucking his wives every other page
I’ve enjoyed to series including the wives books that don’t count in the 17 main story’s book count. I’ve read a lot of long running series and most start out great with a strong trilogy with to much going on to end well in book 3 and so keep going to book 6 and beyond. While there is nothing wrong with that happening it has led a lot of series to move away from what made the good and they grow stale or move past your suspension of disbelief. However fortunately for us The Valens Legacy series has not let us down! I first started found this series right before book 6 came out and have looked forward to each new books release. Everyone who finds this series now will hopefully know that this is a good series but they won’t get to enjoy those moments when the next book just became available and you are excited about it and can’t wait to read it/not sure if this is the last book/hoping that if it’s not the last that it will live up to how good all the books before it were and after you read it you start praying for the author’s health and well been so that the series doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. To the author, if you read this thank you for the hard work you put in to share this rollercoaster of a story with us.
I, probably like most other followers of this series, looked forward to this installment with mixed emotions. Every installment of The Valens Legacy has been excellent; packed with action (of all kinds), a storyline that moved at a frenetic pace, and a writing style that kind of ran the gamut from warm, tender expressions of love to love expressed in XXX style. Then there are raging battles, scenes of cold, calculated revenge, and some good old butt kicking.
I always appreciated that the author never spent pages upon pages going down a rabbit-hole that failed to move the plot along. I found every installment satisfying and VERY entertaining.
So, yeah...probably won’t see The Valens Legacy up for any of the traditional literary awards. But, the author was able to accomplish something most don’t - he was able to tell a story so popular he could literally make it go on forever, if he wanted, but chose to bring it to conclusion on his terms.
Thank you, Mr. Van Stry/Stryvant, for The Valens Legacy. It was a GREAT time, and a lot of fun. I truly hope you find the inspiration to follow through with your musings of picking it, or characters from that world, up in a new series. But whatever you decide, please know that YOU ROCK.
Other than that a pretty good end to it all. A lot of satisfying answers.
Series:
This is a combination review of the entire 17+ book series as I binged the entire The Valens Legacy over the about a month.
The Positives: - The writing is really good. Often when I binge an author things like their crutch words become constant irritants that didn't happen here. - Stryvant doesn't mess around. The plot never really stops or meanders, each story having important events that carry the narrative forward. - There's two maybe three arcs in this series but each flow one into another smoothly so it all seams like a natural progression. - All the arcs are entertaining and engaging I always wanted to know what would happen next or figure out the mystery. - The Main character rides the line of being a Gary Stu never really crosses that line. - Functional magic system and cohesive world.
The Negatives: - The pervasive fetish portions. Even during serious portions Stryvant will often break my immersion with sexual talk or fetishes. - Repetitive sex and romance. It does get better later in the series, but since Stryvant's fetishes don't change over the course of the book neither do these scenes. I started skipping them, but he'd often stick important plot points in the middle of them. - The women characters tend to be on the bland side and over sexualized.
I've looked forward to each book in this series as they were released for the last couple of years. There were times where the next book coming out in a month or two was literally the only thing I was looking forward to at the time. It's escapism and power fantasies, mixed with sex and fun, and it should maybe be empty and pointless (we know things are going to turn out ok, right?) but it isn't. It cares, and makes you care, and is genuinely interesting.
A world of distinct characters who feel real and like you know them, multiple fantasy races, dimensions, magic and rule sets to explore, new realistic (within the setting) challenges to face and deal with in each story line, and it never loses its grounding in the relatable main character who's developing and growing to deal with each new obstacle.
It's fun fiction and it's harem and magic and fantasy, but it is also a pure pleasure to read because it's written so smoothly and well. Congratulations to an accomplished author on completing a hell of a series. Looking forward to the next book, whatever it may be.
On a personal note to the author, thank you for giving me a good world to escape to during some dark times when I really needed something, anything, good to look forward to. Never doubt you've made a difference in people's lives, you definitely did in mine. Good books matter - in every genre!
In No Regrets, Jan Stryvant wraps up his Valens Legacy series (or at least this story arc) with a surprisingly strong novel. Rather than focusing on the big battles as he has been doing for several books, Stryvant brings a mystery to the center of the story—a mystery that has been there for several books even though I didn’t recognize it as such. The resolution was highly satisfying and boosted the whole 17 book series by giving a very credible explanation of how the lions evolved and how they gained the power to absorb the essence of the demons they kill.
Stryvant also takes the time to touch base with all the main characters and a large number of the supporting cast, which is appropriate for what might be the last book in the series. It’s been a long road, but I’m very glad I read it. Who knows, I might even read it again one of these years.
This is the final book in a Powerful series. We watched a kid grow into a lion when bitten by a warelion. Then through time he learned he could do magic, which warranties were never able to be able. He freed Lucas held by, evil magic using humans, by the hundreds then eventually thousands. They fought demons that were feeding of the souls of humans. Then finally they got all the different races and all of the nation's on Earth to work together to close portals that the demons were using to feed on the Earthlings. I'm the end this boy became a God with everyone looking to him to solve their problems. A favorite quote from Mel Brooks that sums up the end, "It's good to be the kind!" ( and god !) This was an amazing series and fantastic read. 17 books to tell a story that you can not put down because it's so exciting to read. Loved it!
This is one of my all time favourite series, and I’m somewhat sad that it has come to an end, although a possible ‘sequel’ following one of Seans kids may be written sometime in the future (so the author says). This series was so out of the normal that it was a fantastical adventure starting with a nerdy guy and ending with an immortal ‘god’. The characters are well defined and progress nicely through the series, the ‘ending’ of the story doesn’t wrap everything’s into a bow and happily ever after, but leaves the story in a place where the main characters can be considered ‘safe’. Enjoy the book, I certainly did.
A wonderful ending to a series, just short of ecellent
It is an absolutely amazing series with a ending that is good. It couldve been greater, by that i mean, some of the secondary or side characters story arc could been explained more or have a conclusion to them. Also, an epilogue to what happnpened to the world a few months or a few years later wouldve made me say Excellent Ending. Just to, you know, have some resolution, not too deep as i still want to keep some points open to allow future sequel series. Just enough to know how everyone is doing. Thanks so much Jan Stryvant. You are an amazing writer.
At this point you know what to expect. It's another great addition to the series. And it's the final one. If you haven't read the series yet, you should go grab book one and start in on it. There were three books in this series when I started reading it, and I've grabbed every new one on release. The author has done an amazing job maintaining the story and tying up the loose ends. While I hate to see it end, I am incredibly grateful to him for sharing such a wonderful story with us. And even more grateful that he finished the story. Thanks for bringing us along for the adventure.
Final book in the series and Stryvant ties up most of the loose ends while leaving room for a sequel series. If you liked the previous books in the series, you'll enjoy this one. I really appreciated the work and thought Stryvant put into his magic system as well as the mythology of lycans (for his series). It feels robust and thorough, yet he conveys it in a way that's not too overwhelming.
He still manages to pull out some solid character development, despite being 17 books into a series. Like the other books in the series, this one has some more mature (r-rated) content. Definitely not for children.
This was a great ending to this series. It leaves the world open for further expansion through other characters, while putting a nice bow on the main characters story line. Everything finally becomes clear, the djevels, Mahk, how the lions came to be and the real reason why, and many more secrets that even the First did not know.
If you have followed this series at all you have to read this one to tie everything together. The author has done an outstanding job telling a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you become involved with the characters.
I read the whole series and really like the story lines, and especially the development of characters and storyline over time. 17 books can be a long series and oxygen authors just slightly change the winning formula is the first boss without much or any progress of the story itself. It feels like the first books are just told again with different names and places. Not in this series, there are a lot of changes and I give kudos to the author for making the step and actually ending this series at this point, now that the story has come to an end. I look forward to read more from him as it becomes available. Well done and a fun read.
That's it! The series is over. This one tied up a bunch of loose ends. It explains how the lions became how they are. It explains about the djevels and where they came from. While there was a definite resolution, there was still things left the author can write about. In the acknowledgements the author stated that he would be open to writing more in this universe but if he did it would probably be with Sean Jr or one of Sean's children instead. Overall this was a very good series and I enjoyed it very much.
If you're just coming into The Valens Legacy series go back to book one and strap in. About this book, the team's on the outer world have tough decisions and scrapes as the battles rage at the gateways. The reality of "stupid human tricks" was all to real, and the hard choices that had to be made. I like the way the the series wrapped up but not in a neat bow, but with aftermath with rebuilding, and find demons that had slipped away. This has been a great series, thank you Jan for many late nights and scratchy eyes from long hours of reading!
I remember binge reading this series when I first discovered it, and loved each new book coming out. The stories have a perfect mix of action, love, drama, and more. It was sad to see this wonderful series end, but I'm happy that there were no loose ends, or cliff hangers. I really hope the Valen's universe is continued, maybe see what politics can happen (good and bad), how his kids are doing, or even something to do with all the other world's glimpsed through gateways. There is a lot of potential for the the future of the Valen's universe...
I burned thru this series pretty fast and it was awesome. The lycans have been freed from slavery by human mages and were recruited to fight demons from another plane. The demons plane has been destroyed but say 2 million demons invaded and need to be contained then eradicated. Sean and his crew have families with children and have a plan to eliminate the demon threat. This is once again a really entertaining series, but wait, theres another book after this. Lets call it an epilogue
This was a series I picked up at random and since I have read each book at least twice (except this one) and listen to the publisher pack audio book several times over. This hs been a enjoyable journey to see sean grow and become the lion he is now, also to see grow in writing skill over these novels from Jan. 17 books is a lot to write and to be able to keep everything straight and not leave plots un finished is fantastic. Keep writing and we shall keep reading.
This is haremlit with some adult situations. This is book 17. If this story intrigues you, start with book 1, Black Friday; the beginning is a good place to start from. I have enjoyed this series immensely, including this book. There is plenty of room for his tentatively planned follow up series, but I enjoyed this. I enjoyed the action, but more so the interactions with the distinctively written women in Sean's life. Recommended.
I happily stumbled across the first book in KU and thought, "why not?" This is a genre that wasn't even on my radar. I think BLACK FRIDAY was a suggestion from the Amazon bot after stumbling over Michael Scott Earle and reading all his stuff at a ferocious pace. Glad to know he's back with books available again in cyberspace (WTF,AMAZON?). Good suggestion, bot thing.
This is the end of a favorite series. I have enjoyed the whole series and though I'm sad that it had ended, I'm glad the author have us closure. This book was a wonderful end book to an awesome series. The book cleared up most of the loose ends and set some future tasks to keep the hero's busy with a hint of more in the future. I look forward to more works from this author as his work was fun and complete.
That’s right no regrets for following this series till the end. 17 books and each one was great. And yes we want to see more stories in this universe. Yah like dose a certain someone run for president what becomes of Stewart and his girls, Alex and Demon, Chad and Max. So yes this story ended and was great but we all want more.
Wow what a great ending to the series. So sad to see it come to an end but if it had to what a way to go. I want to be the first to express interest in more books in this universe and the thought of following the adventures of the next generation sound great. If you haven't read the series start now and of you have well enjoy the ending.
Great conclusion to the series. Honestly surprised by how fast it ended given all that had been going on. Loved how time was spent to wrap up loose ends and really want sequel series to occur. I want to continue to hear what happens to the Valens family.
The perfect conclusion to a wonderful series. I love the development of Sean into who and what he becomes, as well as all the screen time given to the support characters. The story ended well and I honestly can't wait to see what will come next in this universe. Maybe after another Shadow novel!!!
