Never stand in the way of fate.

Winter gave up on the human realm after she lost the love of her life. Being a witch didn’t stop the pain, and neither did the enchanted sleep she put herself in. She wakes up to a whole new world, and a mission given to her by the Mother of All.

Help two people fall in love.

Sarah’s a mortal, and Zander…well he’s the next in line for the vampire throne. As they welcome the attraction between them, Winter’s faced with a dilemma. Fate has other plans for Sarah and Zander. Winter finds herself having to choose between two impossible situations: let the love blooming between Sarah and Zander thrive now and destroy their worlds, or Winter can come to terms with the fact that no one escapes their fate.

Wow

I don’t know what I was expecting, but that was AMAZING. I must finish this series to know how all of this plays out. I always love a good paranormal story with someone in the background pulling the strings and this story has my attention. My heart breaks for Winter and her loss and how she was forced into this prophecy fulfillment, as well as Sarah and Zander. I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

Wonderful read

When worlds collide, will love prevail? This book was masterfully crafted and unforgettable. Not my normal reading genre, but it took me to a good place mentally, and left me entranced. A new fan.

That was a nice quick read.

I did like it, just wasn`t pulled into their story. I do feel for Winter, Zander, Sarah, and apparently Jonathon... All though, after that dream, I did suspect ever so slightly that dear ol` Jonathon was still around.

Mother of All (MOA) seems to be going to quite the trouble in order to save the magic that she put into jeopardy in the first place. Also, B.I.T.C.H.

Alex, Zander`s twin, not giving me the vibe I usually get with the baddies. I am a sucker for a well written baddie (even if they can`t be redeemed). Even if there is absolutely no reason to root for them, I will if the story is there. Shit ain`t always black and white and good versus evil ain`t always so simple either. However, so far, Alex is a douche, a creepy douche. Even his homeland rejected him. Dude, Take. A. Hint.

Poor Zander and Sarah. Finally finding his mate only to have her pulled from his mind to suffer at the hands of his brother. And to make Winter do it, their friend and family. Again, MOA, what a bitch! And keeping Jonathon, FOR A THOUSAND YEARS, like that... bitch!

Nice little introduction into the world... left me wanting a little more but mostly just hoping that 1)Zander and Sarah will come together again (for real this time), 2) they will be able to forgive Winter and be a family again, and 3) Jonathon will reunite with his mate Winter and his son Zander. Alex`s fate is kinda up for grabs since I don`t really care for his at this point in the story.

I received a free (iBooks...which is why it didn't show my reading progress) copy of this through one of my email subscriptions which sends me deals and it was the first book that I’ve read by this author but it I enjoyed it so much that I have ALREADY gone on Amazon and borrowed the next book in the series! Thank goodness it's available via Kindle Unlimited! There are quite a lot of characters introduced in a relatively small book so I don’t recommend reading this unless you can devote your entire focus to it but, as I said, I found it to be a very intriguing start to a series and I can’t wait to get started on the next book!

The perfect prequel to the Destruction of Magic series. Will magic come to end as the world knows it? Or will the prophecy be fulfilled? An emotional page turner for certain that will peak your interest to read the entire series. I highly recommend this to those that love a great paranormal read.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

April Canavan is a new to me writer. She spun her web on me and entranced me in this story! It is beautiful! Very different from the normal PNR. It was refreshing, powerful and drew me in! Romantic, exciting, intriguing and the hook is trying to stop magic from dying! The most difficult and painful path may lead to survival but it will also lead to heartache but the easier path, the one that will be filled with love, will ultimately destroy magic and all who are magical.
