Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.
The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.
At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.
But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.
Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.
Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).
After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.
Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.
She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.
Who ends a series with a cliffhanger? After 12 books, the sloppiness and inconsistencies are just too much. While a part of me wants to continue to read the other “series” that take place in the Kerrigan universe because of an attachment to the characters, I just can’t continue to reward the author. The characters are engaging and the plot is exciting. But the books are short, poorly edited, and major details are inconsistent from book to book.
W. J. May is a very gifted and imaginative author. Her books are fast moving and easy to follow. The characters are all very well developed, and a joy to read about and learn about.
Now for the reason I only gave this book 3 stars. I am disgusted. A 12 book series is outrageous. Other then the first couple of books in this series all the rest are very short. The author could of very well of combined 2 of them and published a book that took longer then a couple of hours to read. All of them except the first 2 ended in cliffhangers. All the author is doing is dragging out a good story. Now with the last book in the Kerrigan Chronicles. Or so we where lead to believe. Again no ending. It seemed like she had written the end, brought the story a satisfactory conclusion. Then changed her mind. There comes a time when every body gets to live happily every after, or not what ever the case may be. But there has to be an end some time. I am done with this author, as good of a story teller that she is. I am tired of the ongoing never ending series.
Wow. There was nothing that this epic finale didn't have...Romance, drama, action, comedy, entertainment, loss, emotion, excitement, suprises and one hell of a shocking twist.... Right from that Cliff Top proposal in Scotland, to the royal overnighter to the hilarious sleep over and that awesome battle....
What started off to be a nice steady build up ended in one hell of a fight raging through to the unexpected conclusion with a hugely surprising twist. Which to be honest was pretty obvious, but only after knowing what it was...! (if that makes sense)
An all round, well written page turner of a rollercoaster ride....
My overall second fave of the series.
Really looking forward to the prequels and December for CoK Series 2
The finale ties up most story threads with emotional impact and clarity. Rae’s journey is completed as she fully accepts her role and power. The conclusion feels earned, even if a few subplots wrap up a bit too conveniently. The tone is hopeful, and while not perfect, the book offers a fitting sendoff for a protagonist who’s grown in every conceivable way.
This was even more a page turner then the other in the series. So many ups and downs that you thought you had something figured out to end up being totally wrong. My all time favorite in this book has to be the fight that happen with them going after Cromfield. Everyone joined together to get the person who wanted to end Rae's happiness. Her half-brother turned out to be a very caring and loving. The end of book 12 will leave you in a total shock as you were not expecting it to go this way. My advice to anyone reading this review is to get going on the series ASAP you'll become a fan of W.J. May right a way. I can't wait to read the other book that go along with the series.
This is a fun series. Each book always has a HEA. This is the final book in the series. The fight with the super villain. Rea and Devon are put to an ultimate challenge. This is the book where they will cement their relationship or end it permanently. Johnathan Cromwell will win or loose fighting to make Rea his unwilling bride. Dude is hundreds of years old and Rea is nineteen. In this book it’s gross. Not necessarily because of the age difference. Because of the lack of consent or mutual adoration. So time to rally the troops and build an army. Not everyone will make it out alive.
Well I only read this to get some closure in the series. It was so disappointing.
The author built up this all powerfull Villain which the MC dreaded to go againt; all for what. The BIG fight only takes place in the last 3 chapters of the last book (12th) in the series. So many details were left hanging, ended the series on a cliffhanger! They glossed over the death of a very important character - didn't even have anyone cry or anything. Killing the Villain seemed like the easiest thing they did.
I am soooo ready to read the sequel now! Entirely the best series I’ve read in a long while and hope to read all of W.J. Mays other books. I am rather specific about the types of books that I read but. I can definitely attest to the fact that she’s brought my attention to the fact that magic has a place in the here and now, not just the distant past of swords and dragons.
Wow. A way to end the book! I'm so excited that there is a sequel and a prequel after this. I thought it would be the last! I'm so excited for what other adventures Rae would find herself and her new team 😉 it's so sad how things turned out. I mean, everyone wanted to fight this, even if it means they would die. Alas! On to the next!!
who said this was ok??? who read this book and was like yup let's just have fucking Beth have the worst fucking life ever and let's not give Andrew a good cry no let's babe the epilogue be 2 pages long stupid
The 12th book in The Chronicles of Kerrigan Series. This is what Rae and the gang have been training for all their lives......a showdown with Chromfield. A suspenseful read that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! I loved it!
WTH??? After all of that it ended there? I just know I'm going to have to find the rest of the chronicles now. It was awesome to see all of them work together like that though.
I really expected a lot more out of this book. Again, disappointment. Build-up then boomp! done, shaking my head. No depth, quick ending. very disappointing.
