It’s a bigly number. The biggest this series has ever seen, and that’s to be expected, because I only endorse the best and most biggest possible.
And that’s what Arena is. It’s a fantastic story about the best American President of all time picking Marc Havoc to represent the world in the very important Crucible of Carnage space battle arena thing.
But this book is a bit different. For one, it’s back in the good old USA. Second, Marc has to save my daughter from all these illegal aliens. Literal illegal alien terrorists from outer space. Bad guys, I assure you. Very bad garbage aliens. The worst. Thirdly, It’s even more tremendous than the previous six books because there are more guns, more space-babes, and more Nakatomi Plaza. I’m even in it, since I make the best decisions and only hire winners, and the biggest winner of them all is Marc Havoc.
This has been a great series and I understand why we only get one more book, however I do wish he'd have skipped the last hookup. I feel that when you do use real life people (even if in fictionalized representation) their interactions within a story need to be superficial. I realized after finishing 6 that this hookup would be inevitable, however, I felt keeping the interaction between these characters as just flirtation should be the best way to represent the real life character. Overall, however, this series has been a great read and a story premise I always wanted to write myself but could never get past outlines that looked like bad Streetfigher rip offs.
Just one more book and it’ll be the end. Not that I’m disappointed as I’m too busy having fun reading this series. The action was cool as always, the characters were fun to read about, they play well off each other like usual. It’s also cool to see a different side of Marc than usual. I hope Li is actually an ally in the final book. I’m also glad the President wasn’t here often. Way too annoying.
The sex of course was hot to read. Particularly the ending. I’m really looking forward to reading the 8th one. I’d love to see Marc and his team go out with a bang and take all their foes with them. I can’t wait. So yeah, if it’s not too obvious, check it out.
I enjoyed this book and laughed a lot at all the Die Hard quotes. Definitely my favorite holiday movie of all time. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
This is such a fun series! It’s the kind of thing that makes you laugh, cheer, or snort milk from your nose. The action is utterly incredible: no action star can compete. The humor is off the chart - especially the word humor and self-depreciation. The characters are delightful parodies, but they also stand on their own. Finally, the situation comedy and touches of drama are wonderful. This is the type of thing that would happen if a bunch of good authors and geeks all collaborated together on a story while playing “Traveller” at a beer party - getting blitzed while they did so. This stuff is truly a pleasure - albeit a sinful little pleasure - to read.
I waited longer then I wanted but I am happy it finally came and I really enjoyed it. Lots of action although a bit different as it was not happening in the crucible.
I am also a bit sorry to hear that the next book is going to be the last one. I understand that it’s not profitable and this is business no matter how you look at it but I still wish the series would go on for longer. I’m not sure if you are reading this review Mr.Logan but I really enjoyed the series and I hope the ending will be satisfactory for those of us that are big fans of the Arena (pls no cliffhangers). If I could I would give this series 10 stars.
This series is always great and never gets old. The author is always writing a different type of story in each book. So if you like fighting, historical reenactment, murder mysteries, and so much more this is the series for you. I CAN ONLY HOPE THIS SERIES WILL CONTINUE PASSED BOOK 8 BECAUSE IT’S TOO GOOD TO END!!!!!
Marc and his team have to head back to Earth to save the President daughter who was kidnapped and threatened to kill in 48 hours. The fights are written so well that I felt as if I were there. This was another fun adventure and I'm already downloading the next book in this series.
Like father like son. Marc Havak is an action star. The setting this time around was the US. Action was good. Mission was fantastic save the president’s daughter. Marc does get to talk with his dad, which was nice. Another solid entry. Can’t wait to read the final book.
What is there to say about these books but AMAZING!!! Always fast paced and full of action. Sad that there's only going to be one more but I will be anxiously awaiting its realse! Well done again Mr Jacobs!
I always enjoy the arena books. Every adventure takes me down past memories of movie I grew up with and challenge me to look up things I have not heard of. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Doing a good job to support and help out the authors who write the books and make them money! It is really too bad as I absolutely love all your series! Try to get the word out and maybe to a Kickstarter like a few others I know. You are awesome!
This is hands down my favorite series from this author and was super excited to read this one and was not disappointed. Tons of action and snarky wit that we have come to expect from Mark Havok and company.
Maybe not the best one in the series thus far 'n and I'm kind of bummed reading that the series is ending soon. I was really hoping that this might be one of those series that just wentm9n and on and on... And on.
I am sad to see the series being forced to a close. I am wondering how things are going to wrap up, but I trust Jacobs to do a great job of it. Tremendous, the best job ever! Although I'm late to the party, I enjoyed the time here.
Logan Jacobs is one of the very best authors to come along in along time. His arena series of books are fast paced, his characters are all unique individuals who are fun to read about. Anyone who likes fantasy sci-fi would enjoy the arena series of books.
Team Havak is still keeping me entertained. I enjoyed reading this and I am waiting for the next installment. It’s more of the same recipe that has made the previous 9 books enjoyable. Humor, action, sex and then more humor keep the pages turning.
Another great book! I am saddened that the next will be the last in the series. But, all good stories must come to an end. Looking forward to reading the next book and the next books that your imagination brings.
Slightly different and refreshing approach to this series, this book is packed with non-stop action. It advances some relationships we have been waiting on, and some new interesting twists. Read the next book for the finale!
Marc and his group rescued the Presidential daughter from the bad guys and found the son of the in charge person from the alien planet had been involved with the kidnapping. Hope it all works out in the next book
