Great read. This book had non stop action and drama, and a lot of surprises. I liked the fact that the hero had scars, and not the perfect looks that are the usual for books nowadays.

This book takes a reader from irritatingly unbelievable to outright preposterous in .04 seconds. To the point where you have to check your brain at the door to even get thru the first EIGHTH of it. It's that bad.
What do I mean?
Guy fresh out of major burn wounds/physical therapy is hiding out in the woods for thirteen months digs an elaborate tunnel UNDER the ranger station cabin for sh!ts and giggles (aka because the author says so). First, there's NO WAY that could be completed - AND HIDDEN- in thirteen months, even by a hale and healthy man, hello. Second, pretttttttty sure the forestry service would have something to say about the liberties taken with their property/station.
But it makes for a convenient escape for an author who can't get her characters out of a tight spot, huh?
Then the author has him fleeing with a woman and baby through uneven terrain in the woods, with the baby (in tow) 'lulled to sleep by the rhythmic sway of the sling' Karissa's wearing. I've WORN a sling. For five babies. Running. It bangs them against you, hello. There's no rhythmic sway. It's preposterous - that kid would be knocking against her chest, shaken with the jarring movements, and screaming. Period.
But that's just the irritatingly unbelievable part. Then there's THIS:
"Hunter hiked his feet up onto the bumper but continued to hunker down behind the tailgate, hoping against hope that his clinging fingers were not noticed by Karissa's captors. He couldn't hang on in this awkward position forever. Besides, they would come to a paved road shortly, and any traffic behind them would notice him and likely honk or in some way signal the driver that they had a weird extra passenger. He needed to make his move before that happened, while he still had the element of surprise. What he needed was distraction."
"Cautiously, he let go of the tailgate with one hand, and dug around in his jeans pocket. His fingers closed around the handle of his multi-tool Swiss army knife. It was a bit of a trick to wiggle it out of is pocket in his crouched position, but he finally managed it. The fingers of his clinging hand were starting to cramp, but he ORDERED them to hang on a little longer as the vehicle jounced and bumped along the lightly maintained road."
"Muscles screaming for relief, Hunter EDGED TO THE CORNER OF THE BUMPER. Then he flipped open his knife and reached around the side, jabbing toward the passenger side rear tire. ... The knife sank into the tire, but the whirling motion ripped the weapon from his hand. The vehicle lurched; he lost his grip on the tailgate and went flying. Flipping in mid-air, Hunter landed splat on his back in the ditch."
"... a harsh voice enflaming the air with curses... A second door opened... The bank was steep here, so he was out of sight for the moment... His hand fell on something hard and metallic. He looked down. HIS KNIFE!!!"
Okay, just... STOP. First, there is NO WAY that this guy can cling - UNSEEN - from the back of a pick-up by ONE HAND over ruts and bumps and NOT fall off... let alone INCH ACROSS to the end of the bumper with only ONE HAND, the other gripping a knife/tool. THERE. IS. NO. WAY. he would be able to reach the tire from that position.
More, there is NO WAY he could puncture a tire rotating THAT FAST, for the love of all that is holy!!! But not just that - somehow he loses the tool, is still clinging but hits a rut, ROLLS INTO THE DITCH... and has been sucked back some distance in the falling so that he's back by his knife?!?!?
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES HOW IDIOTIC THIS IS?!?!?!? How can *ANY* of this pass muster with an editor, let alone readers?!?!?!!? It's preposterous, impossible, and beyond stupid. It's straight-up bad writing.
And don't get me started on the 'spirituality'. We're told he 'squeaks thru the door of salvation' on pg 40. WHAT IS THAT? It's not like salvation is something barely attainable, hello...!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!
This is an amazing book. I could hardly put it down to eat or to go to bed!!! I kept wondering what was going to happen next or is the baby okay? This author has a very vivid imagination!!!

Excellent story. I was scrolling through my Kindle, looking for another book to read, and I came across this book I had borrowed on KU. I thought to myself, “Oh, this author; a guaranteed good read!” I was right. It was so good. Now, I’m back to scrolling my Kindle again for another good borrow…

I quite enjoyed this. As usual, I expected it to turn out fine, but it had a few twists and turns that kept it interesting. I kept wondering along with them who was the bad guy behind it all.

I wasn't so sure about this book based on the cover, but it really drew me in and I couldn't put it down. A murder mystery combined with an unexpected love story.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Lone Survivor. Jill is one of my favorite authors. I'm always excited to get one of her books in the mail. This is an excellent book and I know you are going to love it. It's well written, action packed and full of faith.
Karissa Landon is excited to meet with her last living relative; it had been twenty-two years since they had seen each other. She arrives a half an hour early only to find her cousin dead on her floor and a baby's soft cry. As she was running back to her car, a pick up pulls up and a man gets out with a gun. She rushes out the back door. Someone is following her and is shooting at her.
Ex-firefighter Hunter Raines is swinging an ax enjoying the cabin his brother had offered him to heal from the injury that almost took his life; when a woman and child comes running towards him calling for help. The twin sister of the woman he couldn't save. He is broken how can he help her and the baby. He must protect them.

It has a excellent plot worth reading. It has great action that will keep you turning the pages. There is a mystery involving Karissa Landon's family. To find out you need to read the book. Its has a neat who done it plot going on here. Meeting Hunter Raines is another interesting part of the story. For it brings answers and love. Its has alot of twists in the story that are a mystery that have answer towards the end of the story. It like a neat tying of all the pieces together. Its well done and worth reading. Jill does a excellent job of mixing suspense and mystery together in this book. J

Amazing read
This book kept the heat up with suspense, danger, and twists all the way through the book. Karissa is an orphan and this theme is played out to help show that while we may be orphans on Earth we are God’s family. I almost read this all in one sitting I was so riveted.

Wonderful story
This story was excellent filled with a lot of action. I loved baby Kyle and how both characters fraught to keep him safe. I was so sorry about her parents, sister and cousin. The author put together a great story.

I enjoyed reading this book and it had lots of twists and turns. Just when you thought the couple was going to catch a break they would be thrust back into danger again. This was an easy read with a happy ending.

Very good
This was a very good story full of suspense and action. There was a lot of loss, grief and guilt that needed to be dealt with and I am glad they they did get counseling.

Not bad. Very entertaining and full of action. Cute and fun but if we are calling it a romance it needs more romance.
