Dine & Dash

Rate this book
Lunchtime Chronicles: Dine & Dash was written by USA Today Bestselling & Multi-Award Winning Author Xyla Turner

Bret
The woman floated around the streets like she was some sort of Princess and we were her minions. I didn't give a rat's a$$ who she was, but Raven Bell was not above the law.
Little did I know, I was not above her royal powers.

Raven:
Damn, he was such an a$$hole. I mean rude, surly and just plain ole' rigid. My first and second encounter with the, rough around the edges, police officer all resulted in me calling him an a-hole.
However, it was more than his attitude that was rigid and I just needed a taste.

This is an IR novella in the Lunchtime Chronicles Serial with Siera London, Olivia Gaines and Reana Malori.

Bret is the grumpy cop, and Raven is the upcoming actress that runs into him during a scam acting gig. Instalove, ass play, silver fox, and grumpy meets ambition.

I enjoyed this story. It is a high heat quick age-gap, BWWM, romance. No drama.

Bret and Raven’s story was fun and sexy. Bret was a cop - brooding, surly and sarcastic. Raven was an actress - beautiful, sexy and sassy. When the two of them collide during a chance meeting things got intense. Bret, being the cop he was, mistakenly thought she was doing the old ‘dine and dash’, when she was actually shooting a scene for a bootleg movie.

The next day they run into each other at a restaurant during lunch break and sparks fly. That night she joins him for dinner and he quickly makes her his dessert. The next morning after serving breakfast, they have some more sexy time - rough and dirty.

Just like that, Bret went from a man who avoided dating because women were trouble, to a man who couldn’t get enough of his Princess. They spent breakfast, lunch and dinner with each other and during those times lots of hot sex was involved.

If they weren’t working they were with each other. They both caught feelings quickly, which neither of them expected. It was a cute insta love story that ended with a HEA. We even get a visit from Coy and Yadira from Taste Test! It turns out Bret is Coy’s older brother. Another great job by Miss Turner and the Lunchtime Chronicles.

Unsure

Maybe because the book is very short , I didn’t think there was much of a story. The premise was interesting (although I would like to know where it was based) but felt underdeveloped. A cop who is supposed to be this strong character but obviously not very ambitious (still an officer after 15 years) and a 33 year old actress waiting for her big break in a small town) sounds a bit far fetched. There was also a few editing issues. For instance, she supposed to be wearing a robe but then she’s in a top an skirt. The explanation of what Yadira did, didn’t make much sense either.

Let's dine

Bret and Ravens first meeting was rough but needed. I loved their playfulness and her sass. They didn't have to play in the same circles to be each other's world. Loved seeing Coy and Yardish again. The brothers were a hoot.
The ladies that have written each of these quick but full reads brought it hot, sexy and real. Love that there are no stupid games with these couples. Not easy sailing but the coming to the truth that love has its own time line. Just burns out after a while. That need and want to be in another's presence is precious when it's for the right reasons.
I want more Lunch Time Chronicles. I am hooked!

Well, this was a very short, sort of average story from Xyla Turner, who usually has me hooked to everything she puts out, but this did fall short for me. I think it's because my expectations for her work is pretty high and this wasn't the caliber that I was used to getting from her. Because this is a novella, the buildup to this romance is way too fast. It had so much more potential to be a better story, but it was just okay for me. Love scenes were pretty good though, but because we didn't get that nice build up to their romance, it wasn't as fun to read. Anyway, still a decent effort from Ms. Turner and it's a quick read.

A well-written quickie!

I loved the pace of this one! Having read Coy and Yadira's story, I'd already gotten a glimpse of Bret. There was decent character development, considering the length. Raven felt like someone I could be besties with. Her and Bret seemed like a perfect match. I appreciated that there was very little conflict, therefore eliminating the need for resolution. Sometimes with short stories, the conflict resolution can feel taxing. I can't wait to read the next one!

Great Book!

I really enjoyed this book it was awesome. A whole lot of spice but other wise a great storyline. The characters had great chemistry and I love how the two stories combined. Ms Turner you have done outstanding. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers. Get it today you will not be disappointed.

This story is about Coy's brash brother, Bret, and the woman that makes him melt. This book was hot and quick, but it had substance to the story. I enjoyed having previous characters make an appearance, Coy and Yadira. I also liked that the characters had to resolve an issue and the reader was able to see it play out. This is a quick read that will leave you wanting more.

Yuck!! 😵

Like wow...just skimming over the so-called "erotic" parts turned my stomach .
I gave it 2 stars because the interactions outside of the bedroom were endearing. I also liked that Bret is Coys' older brother from Taste Test. I bought this series fully before reading one because of the author's being amongst my favs. That was a mistake....oh we!!😑

Yupper!!!

Xyla, short or long you always got me girl. 😉
The Holden boys are something else, “assholish”, but wonderful at heart. Brent didn’t see that one coming, at 47 he didn’t plan of falling in love, but love has no timetable. Raven, is no ordinary girl... she is confident, takes no bs & go after what without apologizing. My girl!!

Good read but details were mixed up

Why halfway through did this girl go from having a younger brother to being an only child. I almost thought I mixed up stories. There was also a scene where she came down after a bath in a robe….then he started removing a skirt and panties…what? Cute quick read though

Lunchtime Quicky

When two people meet and the chemistry is so strong and demanding. This is the making of an explosive encounter. I loved the no nonsense, take charge attitude of Raven and Brett. Not afraid to go for what they want. Quick and easy read that I highly recommend.

Hot Officer!

I’m all for the manhandling Bret serves up! Love how he and Raven meet! This quickie was fast paced, but the loving was slow and hot! Have you thinking of breaking the law if you get an officer like Bret! Fast, fun read that will get your motors running!

Brett and Raven 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Dine & Dash is a favorite of mine. I love Brett and Raven and how the assumptions quickly disappeared. He seemed rude and opinionated and she seemed spoiled and immature. They are a perfect combination!! Great storyline and chemistry. Ty Xyla!

Good story, but

This was a good story, but a continuity issue in the beginning of the book created an issue for me. Once I encounter issues like that I begin to second guess what I have read.

Can’t Love Them All...

I was first introduced to Bret when he was in his brother’s story Taste Test, so I expected to read a great story about his love connection, but I did not like him. He was a strong alpha that came across as a bit grouchy and most definitely rude.

Good lunchtime read

This one was quick and to the point. Bret came on too strong to me. He didn’t explain why is withheld sex from Raven. Needed a little more depth. I will keep tuning into the lunchtime chronicles.

Good Enough...

The recent issue of police brutality against Black folk made me pause at the first meeting of Brett and Raven, but the story evened out. It turned into a nice little love story, I enjoyed it.

Raven and Bret

Okay, I love me some grumpy, bossy men. Bret is both of those things and yet Raven rules the roost. This was such a cut story and you hoped when these two first met that it would be good and not rocky.
I like both brothers Bret and Coy, as I said grumpy and bossy.

Oh so good

Well Bret met his match and fell completely in love. To have a mate how can give as good as they take is totally outstanding. Bret learned that there is no time restraint when it comes to love.
Great book!

So....

I did enjoy Raven and Bret's story but I do have some concerns. While the sex was quite consensual but they never really discussed it plainly. Also, some of the story was missing pieces or something, or the editing was off.

Cute take on a "Dine and Dash".

A misunderstanding, a second encounter and it was on from there. Bret almost messed it up, I agree with baby brother he should have told her. Glad he got out his head and went to her his woman.
