4 star review of Reluctantly Alpha (The Barrington Billionaires #8) by Ruth Cardello

Connor Sutton is a man of simple pleasures who is suddenly thrust into the lifestyles of the uber rich and famous when his sister marries into the Barrington family. However, he loves his sister so in an effort to fit in, he changes himself to suit the circumstances of his “new” family.

Having been hurt in the past, Angelina has no intention of becoming involved with movie star Connor, particularly as she is is a single mother, her priorities do not allow for flings. However when Connor comes to her rescue, all bets are off. Can Connor convince her to take a chance on love?

I loved Connor, he was such a sweet, kind and funny man who ticked a lot of boxes for me. He has a generous heart and he was totally swoon worthy. The relationship that grew between him and Angelina’s son was heartwarming.

The chemistry between them built as the story progressed and I really was cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they both deserved. It was also fun to catch up on other members of the Barrington clan as well.

💋💋

Beautiful story, beautifully written.

Connor is the sort of man you dream about, a Reluctant hero and a wonderful guy, attempting to be an improved model of himself.

Angelina is a slightly damaged single parent. Pregnant at 16 , and on her own with her son since then. All she needs is acceptance and love.

Now both are learning to be themselves, and then how to let go and let their love blossom.

Adorable story and wonderful characters.

Reluctantly Alpha is such a fitting title for this one. Connor Sutton is new to this lavish lifestyle and he feels like he doesn't fit in. Not sure how to act because his old self was nice and goofy, laid-back. It doesn't quite vibe with his movie star image. Being part of the Barrington's he had to sharpen his image. He had tried to be more broody and cocky. Also being nice was not for him as his past relationships frowned upon that.

Angelica Kroll change his views even as attractive as she was there was something about her that Connor didn't know how to act. He tried to be stand offish try to be bad ass. It turned her off. Both of them have pasts and baggage. They talked about it. Connor was able to find a balance between his old self and new self. Connor may not think of himself much but he's got a good heart.

The Barrington's are huge part of this and helped Connor along when needed. This was an easy read, feel good in a way. Angelica found a good one. Even if she was hesitant at first, Connor was determined to fix his intial impression and really get to be part of her life. Ruth Cardello is semi new to me but I enjoy her writing and stories.

Reluctantly Alpha is a reminder of what we often times forget. Through Connor and Angelina, Cardello reminds us we're human. Being less than perfect is never easy, however it's our flaws that teach us the most valuable lessons in life. Connor is someone worthy of the moniker "hero". Through his eyes we see empathy, hope and honor that far outshines his flaws. From start to finish, there is something to love about Reluctantly Alpha. It speaks to every emotion that we forget to acknowledge and reminds our hearts that we can do better with a little effort and a lot of love.

I absolutely fell in love with Connor. He was the sweetest guy. He made me laugh so much. I really loved his instant connection to Angelina, and the way he wanted to help her and her son. His struggle to be himself, without embarrassing his family, was adorable. The relationship between Connor and the Barringtons was heartwarming. I love this whole group of characters. His story with Angelina was so much fun to read.

4.5 Stars for Reluctantly Alpha book 3 in The Barrington Billionaires Series
This title says it all, Connor Sutton never wanted to be rich or famous but when his sister married into the Barrington clan he became both. Connor needed to change his ways to fit in with the lifestyle his new in-laws live and he does his upmost to never embarrass his new family but truth be known he would much rather have a beer down the local with friends but his new lifestyle also brings him fame as an actor and he is now very successful in his own right.
A man used to getting what he wants when it comes to women is suddenly facing a woman who is not interested in a fling with a movie star, Angelina Kroll is a single mum just looking to do the best for her family. Will Connor convince her that happy y ever after’s don’t just happen in the movies ......
This is a entertaining fun romance written from the heart, it’s warm, it’s funny and it’s full of love.
I loved Connor and Angelina’s story and I loved catching up with the Barrington clan and if you one click this gem I’m sure you will too.

I'll be honest and say I needed a few chapters to warm up to these characters and their relationship but I ended up loving them.

The build up to i-love-you part was so much fun to read. I enjoyed getting to know the real man that was Connor. To sum it up - this is a story about struggle one has with himself trying to make people around you happy, all the while trying to be true to yourself.

It's been a while since my last Ruth Cardello book and I'm so happy I finally read her again. Looking forward to reading her next book soon.

Reluctantly Alpha is the perfect title for Connor’s story. Connor Sutton has become a man from when we first met him in his sister’s story, More Than Love. On the outside I could see Connor was trying hard to made his sister and the Barrington’s proud of him. Now an actor and with more money that he thought he could ever have, he was still struggling not to lose himself. When he met Angelina Kroll he knew the persona he was using was not going to win this woman over. He wanted to be himself and not go over the top – well not too much over the top. It is Connor after all. While reading the book, my fingers were crossed he didn’t mess up. I was on “Team Connor” rooting for Connor and telling Angelina to believe in her happily ever after. Life is never easy and neither is love and romance. Ruth has written a warm and funny romance that will have everyone who reads his story on “Team Connor” too.

Cute, funny and sexy

This is a feel good story that we all need to read. Connor’s life has changed from being a small town boy to movie star. He has taken etiquette lessons, acting lessons, voice lessons and dressing right lessons. He feels that he is losing himself. At another publicity function he meets Angelina and falls hard. He no longer wants to be “on stage” all the time. He wants her to love him, the small town boy with the big heart. He finally realizes he can be both, the movie star with the small town values. Angelina upon meeting Connor feels uplifted by a speech he gave. She defended a colleague at school from an unjust dressing down and was fired. Her son’s scholarship was rescinded. Connor upon learning what happened started making things happen for her. Her son got another scholarship, her colleague got a better job and so did she. Connor was showing her that he cared and wanted a future together. She did not believe it at first, but he slowly got her to believe in love, magic and miracles.

Wow, Connor!

Wow! I loved everything about Connor and Angelina was perfect for him. Connor was masculine and adorable at the same time. I loved his humility, kind heart and sense of humor. He had me cracking up the entire book. I was invested in him and Angelina finding their HEA. The storyline with her son Whitney was just as heartfelt. A very good read.

I think Connor Sutton may be my favorite billionaire character. He's funny, genuine, sexy and caring. Angelina Kroll is a protective single mother and loyal friend. This is a sweet, feel good romance complete with a fairy godfather.

Anything this amazing author writes is heartwarming and wonderful. This series along with ‘The Andrade's’, The Corisi Billioanaires, The Legacy Collection are all connected the amazing characters appearing in each novel.
This book is equally wonderful. The characters have depth and are relatable to many people we come across in our lives. Connor is the nice guy who is uncertain about who he wants to be and Angelina is scared to allow her herself to be happy. With Ruth’s genius way of making each event in each chapter happen makes these two characters a wonderful match. I can hardly wait for more of this series. Love you Ruth. Love every word you put to paper. Thank you.

This was a fun book, as Connor Sutton tries to be like the Barrington’s and not embarrass himself. He’s been so goofy in the prior books. I loved how quickly Connor falls for Angelina and her son. This was such a heartwarming story. Loved the sense of family and how Clay plays Fairy Godfather. Loved their happy ever after too. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

My favourite kind-of Barrington Billionaire yet

Before I start… this is book 8 in this series. In order to truly understand the history and dynamics of this ever expanding and complex family, I would seriously suggest that you start from the beginning if you haven’t already read them. Particularly with this one, you need to read Grant and Viviana’s story because that is where we first meet the absolutely awesome Connor Sutton.

Lots has changed for Connor Sutton since his sister Viviana married Barrington Billionaire, Grant. Before the Barrington’s had entered his life, they’d been happy-go-lucky labourers on their Dads construction and plant machinery site. No one ever expected Connor and his brother Dylan to change their lives, but their incorrigible cheeky personalities made them so endearing, that soon the Barrington’s had taken the brother’s and their father under their wing.

Far from their former life, Connor and Dylan Sutton were not movie stars and wealthy in their own right. They’d always been very-easy-on-the-eye, but now they were considered to be heartthrobs. The problem with that was that Connor wasn’t sure what people expected him to be. With fame and notoriety came responsibility. He was constantly worried about messing up and embarrassing the Barrington’s. So, he tried to become something he’s not.

Connor is one of the most caring, loyal, spontaneous, and lovingly tactile men you could ever wish for. He’s hilariously funny without even trying and everyone loves his openness and honesty. But he had a tendency to mess up through not always thinking how his actions and pranks could affect others. So he enlists the help of the biggest badass he knows… namely Bradford… meanest, biggest bravest beefcake you could meet.

Sadly his plan backfires. When he meets stunningly gorgeous Angelina Kroll at a school drama event - who sets every nerve ending racing - his attempt to be the hot shot movie star has her wondering what all the fuss is about. Sure, he’s hotter-than-the-sun hot and has that movie star importance about him, but she finds him arrogant, rude and self-centred. Most definitely not the Connor we had grown to know and love.

Realising that changing himself has started to fill him with self-doubt he sets about trying to right the wrongs by showing Angelina that he isn’t at all the man he portrayed himself to be. Connor doesn’t care how much or how long it takes to show Angelina who the real Connor Sutton, he’s determined to prove that he is the kind of man she would in her life.

For single mother Angelina, however,,trust and love is something she finds hard to give and accept. A teenage single mother, she’d struggled to overcome that stigma for years and wants the very best for her son, Whitney even if that means forfeiting her own love life. Until Connor comes into her life and shows her that love doesn’t have to be scary and that allowing her son to have positive male role models could help him to stop feeling like he has to be the man of the house and enjoy being a kid.

I fell in love with Connor over and over again in this book. Even when he’s trying to be the badass, he’s just so bloomin’ adorable. He’s like an excitable puppy that just wants to love and be loved. By the end of the book he has truly come full circle. He’s still a successful actor but he has learned to balance his private and public persona. He realises he can be both those people without fully losing himself.

I’m looking forward to hearing more about Dylan and Bradford in following stories because they truly deserve their own happily ever after… especially Bradford.

Loved this book…. Adore Connor and love his blossoming relationship with Whitney and His nephews! So heartwarming.

The Barrington Billionaires series just keeps getting better and better! and with 7 books already in the series it wasn't go to be easy to make no 8 stand out - but it does. Well done Ruth Cardello!

Connor hasn't found it easy thrust into the world of the Barrington since his sister Angelina married Grant Barrington. Connor has struggled doubting himself and what he says and does for fear of hurting or upsetting his new family. Angelina has been unaware that her little brother struggled as she too makes the transition from normally life to Billionaire life.

It hasn't been all bad for Connor he does feel he has a grown as a person and he has just finished a movie with his brother. But Connor is a simple guy, he never finished college, prefers laughing out loud, drinking beer say inappropriate things and wearing plaid shirts to design cars, watches and clothes.

Angelina mum at 16 now with a 13 year son Whitney she is total focused on him - abandoned by her parents she is taken in by her Aunt who as head of a prestige Pre School got both Angelina a job and Whitney a place - but now her Aunt is dead, Whitney is continuing to be bullied and Angelina is trying to hold on to a job that is not what it was. When Connor is asked to give a talk at the school he is nervous as hell this isn't him he doesn't do things like this but he pulls on his big boy pants and of he goes. BAM one look at Angelina and Connor is hooked but all she sees is the act he is putting on 'man with money playboy', however, she can't deny the attraction and there does seem to be a glimmer of something under the surface. But you know the saying 'once bitten twice shy'

Connor has to pull out all the stops to make Angelina believe him but first he needs to believe in himself.

A lot of changes have happened in Conner Sutton’s life since his sister married into the Billionaire Barrington family. He has a life coach who has changed him beyond recognition, his movie career has taken off and women are begging for his attention. However, he feels like he is playing a movie role even in real life. He is afraid to be himself and embarrass his sister and her new family. Conner just wants to be himself for once. After meeting Angelina Kroll he wants that more than ever. She is someone he wants to get to know and let see the real him. The problem his she doesn’t like him very much so he enlists the help of the Barringtons to help him show her who he really is.

Reluctantly Alpha is a great addition to this series with previous characters showing up to add fun, laughs and great advice for our hero (sometimes not so great advice). This author is so good at writing a love story that isn’t always so easy in getting to the HEA but there is fun, laughter, family, sometimes tears and always a happy ever after. I love the alpha-ness of her heroes who always end up so smitten with the women they fall in love with. This story is well written, easy to read, and the secondary characters add such charm to the story with many laugh out loud scenes. I also loved Bradford’s character (Conner’s friend) and hope he gets his HEA!

Going from living a relaxed life in a small town to movie star extraordinaire living in New York is not easy. Connor is that laid-back, easy-going, always laughing dude we all adore. He is a good guy, kindhearted and average. The only thing about him that is not average is his looks. He is a god!!!!!

He now finds himself in crisis. The public adores the persona he plays in the movies. Quick-witted and intelligent, he has the women swooning and the men admiring him. In real life, he is nothing like his movie persona! The women he dates are attracted by his looks and the movie star ideal. Once they stick around for a few dates, they quickly become bored. He is just too kind!

Meeting Angelina as he is about to do a presentation at the prep school she works changed his life. Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, Connor is now a believer. He will do anything to protect her and save her from her dead end job.

This book will tug at your hearts! The duality we play in our lives trying to hide our true selves is so totally unnecessary. Connor and Angelina's journey is the feel good story we all need to read.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Connor Sutton was having trouble fitting into his new life. He never asked to be part of the Barrington Billionaires anyway. So now he needed to change his ways just to fit in with his new relatives. Seriously he would much rather be out hanging with his friends drinking at a bar. But that can't happen anymore as he doesn't want to do the wrong thing or embarrass his new family.
And now on top of changing his life, as a guy who is use to getting any women he wants he is faced with the one women he wants who isn't interested in a fling with a movie star.
Angelina Kroll is a single mother who is trying to be the best mother she can be and just looking out for her family. She doesn't have time for someone like Connor Sutton. She isn't interested in being famous or having a fling, she has enough on her plate raising her son and trying to sort out her life.

Will Connor convince her that happily ever afters doesn't just happen in the movies, they can be real life as well. Or will she deny her attraction and hold onto old hurts.

Not a bad story, was sweet, heartwarming, fun and plenty of drama. I still felt like it was missing that WoW moment somewhere. It was just an okay story to read for me 😊

Connor's sister married into the Barrington family, so he's all of a sudden part of the rich & famous world, and he's not quite so enamored with it, but for his sister, he's going to make the changes to fit in. However, even being a movie star, Connor is a simple man with simple tastes, which endeared him to me. Angelina is a single mother who has no time for a social life, and that also means no hooking up with men either. It doesn't help that she's been big time hurt in the past, so there are some tall walls there to scale. However, when she needs help desperately, Connor is there to rescue her, and despite all of his good looks, she's not going there. This books so good, and hooked me from the first page. The push & pull was crazy, as the chemistry was simmering at the beginning, & kept getting hotter & hotter. Connor was a fantastic hero, with a huge heart, so watching him really imprint on her son pretty much stole the show for me. Reluctantly Alpha is a great story that I absolutely LOVED! And to find out how it all pans out, hit your one click button, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

As I've never read any of the novels by Ruth Cardello and this was the eighth in a series, I'm coming a little late to the game but was still able to catch up with the story pretty easily.

Reluctantly Alpha reminds us how hard it is to be someone we're simply not. For Connor, trying to act like a suave, billionaire, movie star was like being forced to wear a shoe that's too small. He keeps trying out new personas like Goldilocks keeps trying beds. One minute he's an alpha guy who doesn't care about anyone, the next a sweet nerd or a genuine guy giving a pep talk about the effects of bullying. While trying to settle into his newfound status, our billionaire adjacent Connor is forced to meet with Angelica, who instantly fires up his brain and his...libido. Despite not getting off on the right foot, he steps in with an offer she can't refuse.

I liked the author making our main characters fight for it. I appreciated that she didn't make it easy on either of them, instead forcng both of them to grow before landing smack dab in love. Sweet and spicy read with a slow but steady build.

Total Acceptance!!!

Connor Sutton, one of Vivian's brothers whom we've in and NEVER GOODBYE . He'd never had a problem getting any woman he wanted. He never wanted to be rich but his life and hid family's change when his sister married Grant Barrington. He had to make many changes, now he was an actor yet he was still down to earth. A pizza and a cold beer was all he needed to be happy. Until he met Angelina Kroll.

Angelina Kroll was a single mother who was hardworking and independent. She didn't had time to date let alone had an affair with the sexy as sin broody, Conor Sutton. When without a warning she got fired, he came to her rescue.

As they grew closer, they realized that they loved what they've learned about each other. The way Connor was with Angelina's son was beautiful. It was a treat to catch up with some old characters and meet new ones. Love how the Barringtons, Bradford and Clay Landon had Connor's back.

RELUCTANTLY ALPHA is the eighth book in Ruth Cardello's BARRINGTON BILLIONAIRES series. It was fun, heartwarming and intriguing. Fabulous job by Ruth Cardello. Two thumbs up!

Incredibly good!!!

Let me start by saying that no matter what I say in this review, it won’t come close to describing how good this book is. I was torn between wanting to read it all in one sitting and wanting to stop and put it down so I wouldn’t finish it. I absolutely loved Connor as a character. He’s so funny and such a sweetheart. And you really felt for how he was struggling with how torn up he was about changing himself to fit what he thought other people wanted. Angelina was so perfect for him, she was someone you just wanted to see get a break in life and have things go well. And I loved loved LOVED having appearances by all of the Barringtons (and the extended family members) and seeing them play such a roll in this story. It’s always sad when you finish a book and don’t see those characters loving on, so it was such a treat to see so many of them back in this book. This one is going to be re-read over and over, it’s on my list of all time favorites. I can’t wait for Dylan’s story!!

Reluctantly Alpha (The Barrington Billionaires, Book 8) by Ruth Cardello is another amazing book in the series.

This is Connor's story. Now that Connor is part of the extended family of the Barrington he trying to find his place. He does wonder if finding his place will cause him to lose who he is. While Connor is trying to figure it all out in comes Angelina. Angelina who had to learn early to be independent. Both Connor and Angelina are trying to find who they are and where they fit in this world. When they come together it tells a beautiful story.

The book has wonderful way of looking at how person can still be true themselves while they evolve in the world around them. The story to me was more than just the love that Connor and Angelina found but one saying how it important to still be who your even when things are changing around you.

The way Ruth Cardello write a story is why I keep come back to read them. This was an awesome five star read!!

Connor is Viviana's brother and has been welcomed into the fold alongside his brother Dylan these two are always fooling around and love to hug people, they have both been taken under Clay Landons wing especially Connor both brothers having become actors and are swooned over by hundreds of women. Angelina Kroll is a single mom working at a high class private school that also provides a free scholarship for her son. He is booked to give a talk to the drama group and she is to give him the tour for him it's instant attraction the same for her but she won't allow herself to feel it. They both have baggage to work through but quickly find they are better together. It's another warm and loving romance story with a great ending. Really hope there is more to come from this series it is great writing and has wonderful characters.

"Reluctantly Alpha" is the eighth book in The Barrington Billionaires series and I loved it. Connor Sutton is not a Barrington, but his sister married one and he is trying his best not to embarrass her or give her any reason to be ashamed of him. Connor is a simple man that is happy with beer and pizza, jeans and flannel, joking around and just living his best life, but he loves his sister dearly and just wants her to be happy. A simple man, yes, but also a very lovable man, who has never had a problem with women until he meets Angelina Kroll. She is a single mom and a school teacher at a private school, which is how she and Connor meet. Angelina has no time or desire for dating, she just wants to work and raise her son, the best she can.
I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers, it is very easy to fall in love with Connor and of course I already love the Barringtons. Great read!!

I received a complimentary ARC - early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.

This book 9 in the Barrington series and having run out of Barringtons this is about Viv's brother Connor, one of her brothers who is hot movie action star and he is asked to speak at Angelina's school. Their meet does not go well and in the end she ends up FIRED and so Connor ends up hiring her for his foundation and that's how they get to know each other.

Connor is a sweetheart with a heart of gold and low self esteem. Angelina is a single mother (at 16) with an awesome kid, a bad job until Connor hires her. The two are really sweet together and I really enjoyed their romance.

This is purely romantic and a sexy story about two people who have low self esteem manage to find love together. They are pretty imperfect but together they make a perfect couple.

Connor has been the source of a lot of comedic genius in the Barrington Series. While he was often comic relief I was worried about how a book centered around him would turn out because he always felt like a one dimensional and somewhat dimwitted meathead. I was pleasantly surprised to get into the head of Connor and find a sweet and self-conscious man trying to figure out his place in this new rich man's world. Angelina is a less complex character that I felt could have been explored a little more but was likable and a good match for Connor. The story was well-paced until the end when it somewhat abruptly ended. In general, the story felt like it was missing conflict and I ultimately didn't enjoy it as well as the other stories in the series, but it was still a nice sweet romance that was worth reading if you've read the rest of the series.
