Saddle Springs Romance #1

The Cowboy's Christmas Reunion

Rate this book
When Kade Delgado joins his buddies in a Cowboy Santa program to shower Christmas blessings on old folks and single moms, he doesn’t expect his former fiancée to return to Saddle Springs, in need and with a child in tow. Does God really expect him to treat Cheri the same as the others on his new Christmas list?

Cheri Mackenzie has never forgiven herself for the pain she caused Kade by fleeing a week before their wedding, but undoing the past is impossible. Circumstances force her back to her aging grandparents’ Montana ranch, where Kade, now a widower with a toddler, is making himself cheerfully indispensable. When she receives kindness instead of the hostility she surely deserves, she can’t help but pray for a Christmas reunion with the cowboy she’s never stopped loving.

Is there any hope for a second chance at love?

I haven't read any cowboy romances but when this came up by Valerie Comer I had to give it a try.
Valerie Comers books have always been a pleasure to read. This was no exception. I loved this story. Kade and Cheris story is heartwarming. Showing how true love, forgiveness and faith can overcome anything.
Valerie Comer is a wonderful writer, her characters are so deep and complete you feel like you've always known them.
I'm looking forward to starting the next book In this series now.

THE COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS REUNION is book one in the Saddle Springs series and I have no idea how I missed it as I've read the others in this series. Obviously, they are stand-alone.
Kade is willingly participating in his church's Christmas outreach -- at least until he's assigned to his ex-girlfriend's family when she jilted him basically at the altar. But the knocks keep coming and *she* walks through the door with a little girl in tow. And he is not the father... It takes him considerable strength to keep his promise to the church.
Cherie has regrets but lashes out rather than apologize. She doesn't understand how he can be so nice.
There are a lot of hurdles, a strong faith message, and a huge judgmental error before the end, and like his brothers I wondered about the wisdom in renewing a friendship with Cheri because of a proverb my mother quoted about cheating before marriage, but I loved Kade and wished him every happiness.
Excellent read by one of my favorite contemporary romance authors! Grab your copy today.

The Cowboy’s Christmas Reunion is a second chance Christian romance all about forgiveness and giving love another chance in life.

Cheri has returned to Saddle Springs after leaving her fiancé at the altar several years ago and with a daughter in toe! When Kade and Cheri meet again, old feelings resurface and love blossoms.

Now, this concept sounds good and all which is obviously why I picked up the book in the first place but WHO in their right mind can equate cheating on one’s fiancé and getting pregnant with another man’s child to someone sleeping with their partner before marriage, an unplanned pregnancy and them deciding to get married. HOW ARE THOSE TWO EVEN COMPARABLE?

I was abhorred by the fact that Cheri had the guts to call out Kade and be angry at him for getting Daniela pregnant and saying that then why was what she did any different. I am mindblown by the level of stupidity we witness in this book.

What Kade and Cheri do in their own lives doesn’t matter, i dont even care that Kade was ready to forgive her and be with her but what boggles me is the simple fact that cheating on your partner is put at the same level as sex before marriage and those two couldn’t be any further apart in my dictionary.

I am shocked and taken aback and that’s just another reason why I need to stop reading Christian fiction immediately.

Not your perfect "christian" characters, but totally done well in a story where you sometimes think, "Huh, these people sound familiar. Were they in another story?"
If you have read this authors other books, they were mentioned in other stories, but you can totally read it without having read them! Snow, cold, no electricity, and Montana. What else is there to set the occasion for renewing old flames?

God's Forgiveness and Second Chances

"I am grateful for God's forgiveness an that he gives second chances." This quote sums up this beautiful love story.
I love the way Valerie Comer weaves love throughout the story with intriguing characters.
This book is recommended for those who love Christian romance with a strong inspirational message.

“Holier than thou” is a well-known phrase in the English language, and in Valerie Comer’s first cowboy inspirational romance, Kade and Cheri struggle with just that as they try to overcome their history. It’s much easier to compare your faults to another’s than live up to your own standards in the eyes of God. Part of the reason I’m a long-term fan of Valerie Comer is her ability to bring real characters to the page. They don’t just pass through her stories. They struggle with questions about faith and living up to their own image of self in very tangible ways.

The Cowboy’s Christmas Reunion is a second chances story because Cheri left Kade at the altar six years before. She returns with her daughter Harmony to the small town where she grew up because she has run out of choices. Kade is busy being a good Christian as he organizes a Christmas relief effort with some of his friends and the support of his church. They’ll bring food, presents, and assistance to the elderly families and single mothers throughout the area…a group he does not realize includes his ex-fiancee.

Kade thinks he’s moved on from his first love, but one sight of Cheri brings it all back, the love, but also the betrayal. Cheri’s not much better. Her love never died despite what happened (we learn more in the story and it’s far from as simple as Kade believes it to be), but she’s drowning in her own failure, as unwilling to forgive herself as Kade is to forgive her.

Though Kade seems the better person from the start, the story is more complex than that. I found a greater strength in Cheri’s acceptance of responsibility for what happened, even though she could easily have transferred blame to another. Forgiveness, though, is something they both struggle with.

The faith message, while a little heavy toward the end, is solid and shown both through actions and words. The characters are far from perfect, but none of them, including Cheri’s grandparents and Kade’s brothers, lack flesh and blood reactions. I found everything I’ve enjoyed in Valerie Comer’s farm romances in this story, especially the roles played by Harmony and Jericho, her daughter and his son. She has a wonderful ability to write children who are neither stand-ins for adults nor hard to relate with. Then, of course, there were horses this being a cowboy story, and the connections between the people and their horses were lovely.

I quibble a time jump toward the end and a scene revealed in memory rather than as it occurred, but those are a minor wrinkle and probably due to space issues. The story is complete and satisfying on both the romance and the faith side. At the same time, it raises questions and hints at where the world will go next.

It may be hard to live up to the standards expected in a person of faith, but this novel helps demonstrate how to both forgive and accept gifts with joy, whether they come from neighbors of God. The theme is definitely in keeping with the Christmas setting, and the setting rang so true, I found myself humming Christmas songs way too early.

I read broadly, so this is far from my first cowboy romance. I believe Valerie Comer has successfully brought her skills to a new subgenre and look forward to the other novels to come.

P.S. I purchased this novel in A Christmas to Remember, a box set of eight Christian romances.

The only woman he's ever loved has jilted Kade Delgado. As he tries to move on with his life and moves on from his wife's passing, his true love shows up in town again. Unfortunately, he's already agreed to be a Cowboy Santa to help her aging grandparents. While he struggles to keep his word, he must confront painful and confusing feelings about her.

Cheri made some terrible mistakes in her life, the worst was sleeping with someone other than Kade and then leaving him at the altar. Both mistakes she has repented from, but the guilt still burdens her heart.

Will they get over the heartache from their past and find their way back to each other again?

What I loved about this book:
- Kade is a manly man with a strong faith and he prays often over the difficulties he faces. He also has a sensitive side that does not diminish his manliness.
- Cheri truly regrets and repents from her mistakes. Her character grows the most in the book.
- The Christmas timeframe adds complexity to the feelings of each character.

It's been a long time since I've read a book with such a strong representation of our daily walk as a Christian. The struggles are real, but we can rely on a God who loves and forgives. He is never further than a prayer away. Kade exhibits this well.

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Western Romance
Location: Montana
Romance: Sweet, clean. Just some kissing. There was mention of pre-marital sex, but it was in passing.
Faith: Very strong aspects of faith in both characters throughout the book.

I always enjoy Valerie Comer's writing style, the characters and worlds she creates, and most of all, the community life she writes into her worlds. This book checks all those boxes and so I enjoyed reading it. I can't say I loved it though because several instances of forgiveness felt a little too easy to me and jarred me out of the story. The book almost felt allegorical at times because Kade is so perfect - (despite his saying he isn't several times, I couldn't see it.) He felt like a picture of Jesus which actually is how a husband should be so I guess that's not a bad thing. In that way, the book really did speak to my heart about the depths and the quickness of the forgiveness Jesus offers to me. So I ended up really liking it when I looked at it in that way. All in all, a solid 4-star book for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author as part of her street team, but as you can see, I have expressed my own opinions about the book.

I really enjoyed The Cowboys Christmas Reunion. It's the story of Kade and his son and ex fiancé Cheri and her daughter. The setting is beautiful Montana in the Winter time.
Cheri left Kade a week before their wedding. She did something very stupid and left without a word. She ends up back in Saddle Springs to help out her grandparents, supposedly. Kade and his friends are doing a Cowboy Santa program to help out people in the community that are having a rough time.
Cheri shows up and things, emotions happen. Can they both find forgiveness from each other? Can Cheri except the forgiveness and grace God offers? Read this lovely story to find out. I look forward to reading about the other characters in the book in upcoming stories after my Christmas book binge. Blessings.

A forgiving cowboy shows great love!
Cowboy Kade Delgado is involved with his buddies in a Cowboy Santa program to shower Christmas blessings on old folks and single moms. Cheri Mackenzie ends up returning to her aging grandparents ranch, she runs into Kade again, and is surprised. He first wants to ignore her; but then realizes he still loves her. He shows such forgiveness and love, patiently waiting and hoping she will date him again. It is a powerful example of God’s love to her, but—will it be enough? This is a well written book by Valerie Comer, and I recommend it as a good Christmas book, as well as being very romantic!

Reconnecting!

The Cowboy's Christmas Reunion: It's sad the challenges that Kade went through in his life. The one women he loved and had known her since they were young left him at the alter 6 years ago. He cares for everyone and doesn't like to see them get hurt. Cheri reappers back in their small town after all these years with a daughter in toe. Kade said to himself she hurt once but I have and will always love her. I liked that the story took place around the holidays. I liked all the jabbing between friends and his brothers. It was an entertaining story with lots of romance. Fantastic writing.

Kade Delgado did not expect ancient history to come alive. Cheri, his former fiancee, shows up in town during a snowstorm and with a child. Her car had broken down and she did not expect to see Kade, who now has a child, too, in the shop where she sought help to get to her grandparents' ranch. They sure had a lot of explaining to do. Both were free to reconnect, but should they? I loved this story and can't wait to read the next one in the series!

Enjoyed

This was a wonderful love story. Kade and Cheri have a lot of hurt to get over and some wrongs to forgive. After years apart Cheri comes home with a five year old and Kade now has a two year old to add to the mix. There is a great set of characters that make the story interesting and entertaining. The faith in God helps to guide Kade and Cheri to solve their problems and find a happy ending.

The Cowboy's Christmas Reunion

They had plans to marry until she ran away. Now a few years later she is back with a daughter. He also has a son and he is a widow. This Christian based story is about forgiveness and acceptance. She still has someone, the father of her child, who is willing to keep them apart. What happens when you mix this special holiday season and open up for a few miracles is the rest of the story.

Great story

A story of faith & forgiveness. The plot reminded me of Hosea's story.
She messed up big time & canceled their planned wedding. Life since then hadn't been easy, simple or safe. Was coming home a good plan?
He'd been shocked, angry & hurt. Then he chose to help someone & became a Dad. His brothers think he's too perfect. They knew some of his troubles but didn't really see the pain he'd survived.

The Cowboy’s Christmas Reunion

This was a very good story. It’s about mistakes made in life and trying to overcome them. Kade had a child, two years of age, and Cheri had a daughter, six years old. They were to marry, early in life before children. She was fooled into sex prior marriage by a guy, who just wanted to have sex. She knew Kade would not forgive her, she left town. More to come, enjoy.

Second Chances

At first love. Kade was working with the Santa Cowboys & local church to decide on the families to help, and one of them is the ranch next to his family. They are the grandparents of Cheri the girl he was suppose to marry. Now she is back with her daughter, and feelings are stirred up.

God Gives Second Chances

A second chance romance that will have you rooting for an HEA and praying with the characters. Kade's character gives new meaning to " A knight in shining armor". So wonderful to watch the characters learn to trust completely in God.

Definitely finishing the series~

Love prevails

A really sweet story of a jilted cowboy who still has feelings for the girl who broke his heart. When she returned home to help her grandparents there was so much conflict and tension between them. This is a very moving and touching story as the love of God is shared at Christmas by helping those in need and finding love and joy. I enjoyed this story.

Interesting and Sweet

This story kept me turning pages. I just had to know how things would unfold. The MCs were a bit extreme in some ways, but I did find them to be relatable. The themes of compassion and forgiveness were nicely handled, too.
If you enjoy sweet, inspirational romance and cowboys, you'll probably enjoy this book.

Life is

Life will be what we make of it. Trust, love, forgiveness, sorrow, hurt, comfort, and cares are what make life interesting and worth living , especially when we look to our Heavenly Father for guidance each day. Kade and Cheri share real life experiences to help show someone else the way to God. Another great read that was hard to put down!
