Elise Sommers has lived a very sheltered life. She was raised in the lap of luxury as her family had money. She developed Leukemia when she was a teenager. The doctors prepared her parents for the inevitable. However, Elise managed to beat the odds not once, but twice. However, despite her recovery, her parents were never able to let go of their fear of losing their daughter. They kept her close to them at all times. Elise had never even dated due to their constant interference in her life. Now at the age of 27, Elise decides it’s past time to venture out on her own. She joins the Red Cross to provide aide to the refugees fleeing Syria as the conflict between ISIS and the US worsens. Her parents object, but they can’t stop her. She is an adult after all.

Warren “Deadeye” Vickers is 42 years old. He had a hard start to life. When he became a Marine Special Ops soldier, Deadeye knew he had a higher chance of dying in combat than the average soldier. He never wanted a child to go through the rough up bringing he had endured. He became determined he would never settle down and risk having a child that could end up in the same situation he grew up in. He dedicated himself to his work and being a professional. When his closest friend, Hawk moved up to the headquarters division of their special ops team, Deadeye was moved to be the leader of the team in the field. He took his job very seriously.

When Elise is taken from the refugee camp, her family’s influence and money talk to get her the best Special Ops team the country has to offer. Deadeye’s team is called in to bring her home. From the moment he sees her picture during the briefing for the mission, Deadeye feels a connection to the beautiful young woman and a need to care and protect her. She was supposed to be a target, a mission, but when he takes her in his arms she becomes so much more. He knows she is his Destiny.

Can Warren bring Elise home? And if so, will he be able to let her go when they are back on American soil? Only time will tell if the couple can over come the obstacles that stand in their way of happiness.

Too insta-lovey for me and writing was cringey in places. Smut was good though.

Trigger warning for violence, r*pe, s*xual abuse, kidnapping. child abuse.

Rating was 2 1/2 ⭐️s rounded to 3.

So I only got about 10 pages into the book and I would have loved to have finished this book, but the grammar errors and misused words were too distracting. Also why does everything start in the first person? This is not how a I like to read fiction. Now I am not a professional editor/proofreader but this is very bad editing and proofreading.

If you love to read about an Alpha military force to be reckoned with, this is the series..the book for you. Meet Deadeye. He is strong, intelligent, and protective. He didn't realize his life was about to change when he saved Elise. Her innocence, beauty, and loyalty is amazing. This book is full of suspense, intrigue, and lust. Enjoy the story of Deadeye and Elise.

Good plot poor writing

I rarely, rarely review. This has a good plot, but again the author could use someone to double check her work. This book doesn’t read well. I realized why when I ran across one paragraph that had five sentences in a row that started with he. The next paragraph there were for that started with they. I was taught in junior high to stagger your sentences. It makes for very choppy reading. While actually spelling seems to be okay, wrong words are used which makes my brain “stutter” instead of smooth reading. For example, as used instead of and. Previous book was like that too. I don’t mean to be negative. The only reason I’m writing this is because I think the author has potential to do better work

Hard to read

I would have loved to finish this book, but the grammar errors and misused words were too distracting. I mean, how many times can you use the word interrupter when you really mean interpreter and not notice it?!

Elise: Special Forces: Operation Alpha: Finding His Destiny Book 2 is by Angela Rush. This is a new series and a new author for me. It is definitely action packed.
Elise Somers (27) was raised in the lap of luxury. However, that didn’t keep her from developing leukemia as a child and defeating it twice. After that, her parents and brother tended to be overprotective and wanted to keep her safe. However, they more than smothered her. She broke out and volunteered to help at a Red Cross refugee camp for those escaping the war in Syria between ISIS and the US. The volunteers were always accompanied by guards and kept out of the worst parts of the camp. However, as Elise was traveling to a part of the camp where a little girl, Lakia, had caught her eye. She was taking her a doll. However, she never got there as her group was attacked. Everyone was killed but Elise. She was taken to Odimar Hussain, an ISIS leader, who planned to make Elise his wife. As leverage to get Elise to do what they wanted, they had also kidnapped Lakia.
Warren “Deadeye” Vickers (42) had a hard life in foster care; but his last foster parents pushed him to do his best. He entered the Marines and made it to become a Marine Special Ops Soldier. He took his job seriously. His best friend, Hawk, was the leader of his group. His group was called up to rescue Elise. For the first time ever, Deadeye was immediately attracted to Elise when he first saw her picture. He would do anything to find her and keep her safe. Could he and his group find her before Hussain either married her, raped her, or beat her? More importantly, what would happen after they found her?

Disappointed

I read book one in the series, Charlotte, and loved it! I was eagerly looking forward to more from the Marine team who stole my heart in this first book, and whilst we do get more of these awesome characters, this book is written completely differently to the first. Book one was written in first person POV, as many books are, and this is what I expected from book two. But this is written almost from a third person POV, I say almost as at times sentences seem to slip between first person and third person, the same as they seem to mix past and present tense. I found it really difficult to read, which is frustrating as I really like both Elise and Deadeye and they have a great story to tell...or be told about them as it is. It almost feels as if it is someone reciting their story as a past event, rather than it being told as they themselves are living it.
Because I like the team and the character dynamics I will try the next book in the series and hope it is written like the first and not like this one. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

This is Warren/DeadEye and Elises story.
Ms Rush has done an AMAZING job with this story!!
I was sucked into the story from the moment I opened the book. The loss of sleep was sooooo worth the ups, downs and twists in this book!

Warren/DeadEye had such a heartbreaking childhood. Elises childhood had its trials too.
These 2 are so made for each other.

This story gripped me from the first page and held me throughout the story. I didn’t want to put it down. The things Elise goes through, to get rescued by hotties, then she goes to... well, I can’t tell you the entire book sillies (he he he).

This book was just so well written!
I can’t wait for the next one!

Go one click this book! You’ll love this story like the rest of us already do!

DNF. I managed to squint my eyes and tried to ignore the terrible typo's ( at least, I hope they were... unless this was written by auto-correct... 'interrupter' anyone? ). But I have up at the odd use of tenses... it makes it very hard to read when you keep going back wondering why we are reading in the first person when it makes no sense. Gave up... shame cos I was kind of interested in the both of the lead characters...

On a side note... I am so unsure as to why Susan Stoker has some of these titles in her spin-off series... this isn't the first time that I have mentioned this... and, although I am hoping it isn't the case, probably not the last. Please... get someone to read it & help edit/correct before unleashing your words onto the reading world.

I had an awful lot of hope for this series, but the more I read the sloppier the writing gets. Does the author not read what they write? There are so many grammatical, syntax and simple factual errors I cannot believe this was published. One example was the author stated that Deadeye and Elise are at his home where he is stationed in North Carolina and then her parents are coming to visit them in South Carolina! Um, different state completely! Also, with all the grammatical errors I would have never passed high school English. Please find a few trusted friends to please proofread your writing. The story was not too bad, although it was hard to tell with all the disjointed writing. Better luck next time!

Easy read with a military theme. The team is back and picking up with rescuing the individual mentioned at the end of book one. Parts are fairly predictable and there is a component of insta love. The main themes are military romance and age difference. The best parts to me were the team dynamic and the inclusion of Tex and Wolf. I thought Elise was not the best character as she was handled from start to finish by family, her Alpha and the villains. This is n okay series, but I do wish the female characters had more something…

I loved the story. And I loved the characters. I didn’t want the story to end because I loved the characters so much. My only real complaint is that I wish it was longer. It felt a little rushed. I saw a lot of reviews on amazon and good reads giving this one star because it does have grammatical errors and consistency errors. It does have those yes but the story and characters are sooooo much better than any errors you find. This is a story worth taking a chance on.

Great!

I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. I really enjoy it most all of the characters. This was a book of compassion, kindness, Knowing yourself, and falling in love for the 1st time. I really enjoyed Warren (Deadeye) and Elise story. I think the author did a great job in putting these characters together. They both were determined to be together even though they had some obstacles in their way. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.

A great book with lots of action, suspense, kidnapping and loss. Alise is kidnapped while working with the red cross workers and Deadeye's team is sent in to rescue her. Her parents have a hard time with their relationship since he is 42 and she is 27. But all is not well when they arrive back on home soil. Lots of twists and turns. HEA. There were several errors, too many to hightlight.

Elise

Wow the things that Elise went through with her kidnappers, I'm glad she got her happy ending. Warren was going to do everything to make Elise happy and I'm glad he petitioned for the little girl that was killed, siblings to get adopted by them. Everybody deserved to be happy. I was waiting to see who would come after Elise again, I knew there was a strong possibility.

Needs a proofreader

I have loved all the spinoffs of Ms. Stoker's works. I was ready to love this one as well, but even though I downloaded all the books in this series, I give up after 2.
It is hard to read. A spell-check does not take the place of an unbiased proofreading. Wrong words, clunky grammar you name it, these books have it.

Only 4%

So I'm only 4% into book. An no I am NOT a English mayor or anything close. Why does everything start in the first person? 4% and how many times does it start "Elise is assigned a cot and is given some time to". This is not how a person likes to read.

Very disappointed.....

Definite proofread needed. Spelling and grammatical errors throughout the story. Also feels detached (the reader)due to the story being written in the 3rd point of view. I couldn't finish reading because the story felt incomplete.

Elise and Warren meet when his team is sent to rescue her. There is an instant bond but her family is not happy.
When he gets back from a mission, he finds out she has been taken again. With Tex, and Wolf's team, will they find her in time?

Good read

Elise meets Warren when he comes to rescue her from the terrorists that have kidnapped her. When she realized that he was there to save her, she grabs a hold of Warren and won't turn loose of him.

How did the first go from 1st person to 3rd? I’m not a big 3rd person reader, and it gets confusing when it states its the wrong person. I wanted to like these books, not the most horrible, but don’t think I’ll continue w the series.

Good series

Angels rush is a new author to me, the stories are great and keep you interested throughout. Liked how to intergrated susan stokes characters into her stories. Love her take on Tex and wolf's seal team. Very good job.

Loved the storyline and would read again. However, how Elise was portrayed was extremely frustrating. Elise is a 27 year old woman but her character is not consistent as her conduct swaps from mature to immature.

I couldn’t get past the weird way that the story was written. It’s somehow third person and present tense. It just doesn’t flow well.

Did not finish - grammatical mistakes are terrible. They are interpreters, not interrupters. So glad I did not pay a penny for this book.
