There is magic in the modern world. It surrounds you, hiding in plain sight. The commuter next you you may be Talent. The barista behind the counter may not be human. The sound you hear just outside your window? May be far more dangerous than you think.

Stay inside and admire the storm. But be wary. Because for the Cosa Nostradamus, human and non-human alike, that storm is magic, and magic is power…

And power can corrupt.

A new collection of old favorites and rare gems!

A nice collection of Cosa short stories, though as noted at the beginning of each story, many have been previously published elsewhere. Of the 13 stories published within, only three were new to me. Still, worth a read for those three, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t bothered about tracking down all the short stories published in this universe.

I never read the novels that go with these stories, and they gave me a taste for more. A good introduction to these characters and this world.

The novels are being reissued soon. I'm really looking forward to that.

I still don't like short stories, but the longer ones were good and it did help me put it down without losing the thread when my library hold came through.

Delightful collection of short works that provides great background for Wren and Sergei for those who are already fans, while being a fine introduction for new readers for many of her series.
