I am Alessia's father and her biggest fan. Alessia first showed me her initial draft of "The Crystal Chronicles" in grade 7. I could not believe how good it was. I told her we have to get this book published and by age 16 her book became a reality. Within weeks of publication Alessia's book sales shot through the roof. It all started when Alessia's elementary school contacted us to come to their book sale in March 2016 just after the book was published. Alessia sold more than 80 books in 1 day. Students loved her book. Many students started to do book reports on Alessia's book and so word spread about Alessia's book to other schools. Alessia's name was soon coming up in the teacher's staff room across the province. Soon Alessia was being invited to come to schools across the province to speak with students. Since publishing her young adult novel, "The Crystal Chronicles" at age sixteen, she has been interviewed on CBC Television, CBC Radio 1 and appeared on the front page of the "The Vaughan Citizen Newspaper". In November 2017 Alessia received the "Order of Vaughan" for her outstanding literary achievements. It is the highest civic honour a city awards a citizen. Later that year the American company, Story Monsters wrote a feature article on Alessia where she appeared alongside James Patterson. In late 2017, the Crystal Chronicles won the coveted grand prize from Story Monster for the Purple Dragonfly Book Award, which recognizes excellence in children's literature.

After reading the first book, I couldn't wait for the second one to be released! In the first one, it was more centred around introducing the characters and world building however this book really went into depth about our main characters past, secretes, and true motives. Definitely had moments that had me mentally screaming "NOOO" (#1 Haven fan here), but theres a lot of sweet wholesome moments with the whole gang. Either way, can't wait for the next book to come out!

Read the first book and couldn’t wait to read the 2nd book, it did not disappoint. The story continues with Alyssa, Amber, Zack and Haven. I love these characters, their back stories and their test of friendship, courage and endurance. Such a fresh fantasy book that keeps the interest of the reader with each turn of the page. A must read if you love the fantasy genre. So creative and imaginative from anything I have read!

I can honestly not think of a better book than this one. I love the adventure, the romance, and the new characters, and the plot. I got The Lost Temple for Christmas, and I read it in a day. I was so excited to read it, and The Lost Temple surpassed my highest expectations. I'm sitting on my toes with excitement for The Sunken City. I love this series. It is a must-read.

If "The Crystal Chronicles" was an impressive debut novel and an engaging introduction into the world of Magnorium, than "The Lost Temple" is the first true adventure that Alyssa, Zack, Haven and Amber embark on. Set in the Amazon rain forest, Dickson's linguistic ability to create atmosphere and mood is brilliant and leaves you not wanting to put the book down. The relationships between the characters grows stronger and we are also introduced to new characters like Dylan. Best of all, this book introduces more of the mythology surrounding the four crystals and why Kurt and the Society is obsessed with possessing all of them. Writer Alessia Dickson has written a young adult fantasy masterpiece. I can't wait until the next chapter in The Crystal Chronicles series!
