Marriage was created for a man and a woman to have dominion over creation as vice regents of God, ruling on His behalf, by pursing His revealed plan. The sacrament of marriage is established to bring forth the family, which is called to be the earthly reflection of the heavenly relations of the Triune Godhead. One of the problems we have today is that so many people do not understand why God ordained marriage in the first place and the results is that we have Christians who view marriage from a secular point of view.
Marriage is not merely a contract between two people; but the two are representing an institution with responsibilities conferred upon both of them. It is something that is built block by block and before you and say ‘I do’, these are questions you must answer.
