It's going to be a great weekend! Karen has new roller skates and is a very good skater. She's looking forward to trying some new tricks. But, oh no! Karen falls down and has to go to the hospital. Her wrist is broken!
Karen is determined to get everyone she knows -- plus someone famous -- to sign her cast. It isn't going to be easy, but she won't give up until the job is done.
Kids tend to exaggerate because they think the truth is not enough to impress others.
When she is asked to tell what happened to her broken arm, the seven-year-old "Karen" adds, edits, and doubles the risks that she supposedly faced during an accident she had while roller skating.
While reading that cute graphic novel, you will get to know how courageous and daring that little girl is. By the end, Karen will know that people admire her without having to make up events that didn't really happen.
The message was finely and smartly delivered without preaching or lecturing, which makes it easy and enjoyable to read.
Karen is a very good skater. She has a new pair of roller skates and she can't wait to use them! She falls down and breaks her wrist. No more roller skating for Karen. In the hospital, she meets a classmate, who is also in a cast. Karen wants to get as more signatures than him so she can show off at school. She is determined to get the signature of a famous person. Unfortunately for me, I didn't love the book because I didn't like Karen's character. I thought she acted like a spoiled brat! Every time she told the story of how she fell, it became more and more outrageous!
That being said I think this is a fun read that I think a younger audience would enjoy very much. The art is very appealing and without too much text, I think it is a good introduction to graphic novels for a young child.
It’s official…this book is better than the previous one.
i actually really like how there is no miscommunication or fighting in this book, we kind of get rid of that in this book (THANK GOD!!).
Karen in this book is a little more better than in the first book, she’s still kind of annoying, but in this book she’s more likable, which I’m glad she’s more nice at the end.
Hannie is as likable as always, she IS the best character bye far, don’t ask why,
The other characters are also really likable, But some characters in here made me SO DARN SHOCKED, that my face literally goes like this 😐……….you know what i mean…….right?
And i just realized that this book series was WAY AFTER BOOK 10 of the BSC series!!
*silent moment*
YEAH!! IT OFFICIALLY HAPPENED AFTER BOOK 10 OF BABYSITTERS CLUB!! AND I DIDNT NOTICE WHEN I WAS YOUNGER!!! UNTIL I READ BOOK 10!!!
OHHHHH MYYYYY GOSHHHH!!!!
So if you are going to read this series RIGHT BEFORE bsc, you have to read the first 10 books of the OG series, but that is completely up to you, you really don’t need to read it after book ten, it’s like it’s out of context to know some characters in this series who made their first appearance in the first series, just pretend it’s out of context when your reading this series first, just a reminder.
Sooo, wow!!
What…a…great…book that was, i honestly think this is better than the first book tbh, it’s more interesting and less….miscommunication—ny.
I'm sure, back when Karen's Witch came out, that I looked to see what the release date for book two was. But in that time, I clearly forgot, because when I saw a trailer posted on the Baby-sitters Club Facebook page for this book being out today, I was surprised and glad that we were going out to do some shopping today!
I. LOVED. THIS. I know a lot of BSC fans hate Karen, but she is actually a precious GEM. After she got her cast on and was pouting on the couch because nobody would do things for her? ME IRL. (Yes, I am a princess, idgaf.) I was howling because the art is just SO CUTE. So round and expressive, completely perfect for my beloved Karen books.
I also loved seeing Shannon! Was it our first time seeing her in the books? I just skimmed through my copy of Kristy's Big Day and didn't see her, so that was exciting. I love these books, everything about every BSC graphic novel is perfect!!!!
The second graphic novel in the series wasn't as entertaining as Karen's Witch but still kept to Martin's spirit of Karen Brewer. I see there are two more graphic novels in the series and I am looking forward to reading more Karen adventures.
I wasn't a fan of the first graphic novel because Karen was just sooooo bratty, but she's a much more reasonable child this time around, and I found myself enjoying this little tale about broken bones and truthfulness. A good book for introducing little kids to what goes on at a hospital when you've had an accident.
Pergelangan tangan Karen retak / patah sehingga perlu dianduh. Itulah akibat bermain kasut roda tanpa peralatan keselamatan yang lengkap. Namun dah kata budak-budak, dia sentiasa mengubah cerita untuk nampak hebat di mata orang lain. Entah kenapa. Mungkin bimbang diketawakan atau tidak mahu nampak lemah di hadapan kawan-kawan.
A cute graphic novel remake of the Ann Martin books of my childhood. This one was cute, because it reminded me of my roller skating 5th grader. While Karen is always a little bratty and whiney for my taste, overall, she seemed to learn a lesson in the book, which I appreciated.
I was a little old for the original Little Sister books, but my 40-ish year old self is thoroughly enjoying the cute graphic novel versions. Sure, Karen is kind of bratty, but these books are meant for kids who either know or are a person like Karen. So, she exaggerates and wants to be the center of attention - it's a fun story with adorable art, and the age group it is meant for will eat it up.
hello and this is my review for Karen's Roller Skates (Baby-Sitters Little Sister)
1: my book had 125 pages 2: this book was easy and very fun to read i definitely wouldn't describe hard or challenging cause it wasn't but to be completely honest it was hard watching Karen geting hurt during the book.
3: my favorite character in this book was probably Kristy for helping Karen stay calm and she was also with her to make sure she felt comftable in the book and Kristy is Karen's sister so of course she wants to be nice and helpful
4: what surprised me about this story is that Karen sure is a daredevil because even after her accident she keeps wanting to roller skates but I didn't think she would want to keep going so Karen is definitely full of surprises also Karen wants to prove she can do ANYTHING! with her cast so that definitely surprised me too
5: would I change the ending? no I felt pretty satisfied how the story ended and Karen made a lot of people happy by asking them to sing her cast they felt very happy so Karen inspired me to always be nice because you should think on how your actions make people feel.
I will say, I thought Karen was the worst in her original books, but there is something about how Katy Farina has written and illustrated the character that just pops off the page! This version of Karen is easily favourite, and she is exactly the kind of well-rounded middle grader you want to see kids reading!
Karen gets a pair of roller skates and decides to do a stunt; as a result she gets a broken wrist. But as she tells how it happens, the story gets more and more elaborate. Will Karen fess up? This was a cutely done, if not simple graphic novel that tells the tale of Babysitter's Little Sister number 2 in a satisfactory manner.
Man so i really think this graphic novel series is great for younger kids who are interested in reading Smile etc. but aren't quite there yet, but Karen is so obnoxious. I really liked these books as a kid, and now i'm not sure why i didn't find her annoying then.
Karen is still a little bit annoying with her exaggerations and single mindedness but it’s also pretty realistic of a bossy little kid. 🤣 This was a cute enough story. My students will like it.
Ah, Karen is quite the character. This time her continuous embellishing of the story of how she broke her wrist causes her friends to lose trust in her. A tough lesson to learn!
Very cute graphic novel that I think will appeal to the under 10 crowd! Karen can be a bit bratty but honestly I’ve met some kids who act just like her so I guess it is pretty realistic. Lol.
