Four years ago, Mack Schwartz made a decision that would alter the course of his life. Little did he know that walking away from the man he loved was only the beginning of a downward spiral. Since then, he’s become nothing more than a puppet, his son Daniel at the helm, turning Mack’s life not only upside down but inside out.
Against his better judgment, Jeff Endsley didn’t put up a fight when Mack walked away, although his absence left a gaping hole in Jeff’s life. Now that Daniel has convinced Mack to sell Moonshiners and leave Coyote Ridge behind, Jeff isn’t sitting back and letting him make the decisions anymore.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.
Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.
This was book 7 in "The Walkers of Coyote Ridge" This was a short quick read that I loved. Mack Schwartz who owns Moonshiners the local bar he gave up his lover Sheriff Jeff Endsley the only man he has ever loved because his son Daniel told him to 4 years ago and he is just going through the motions of life. Jeff let Mack walk out of his life once he is not about to let him do it again. This was a good read Mack was doing everything he could to please his selfish ungrateful son he talks him into selling his house and the bar. When Travis Walker here's him talking about selling the bar he knows that he has to do something and one of those things was to find out what is really going on especially when Daniel bring Chris to the bar. I really felt bad for Mack and at the same time I wanted to slap him for not standing up for himself. I liked that Jeff was patient with him these two hooked up over the Christmas and although people know that they are gay they have been sneaking around again. When Travis shares what he has found out Mack knows what he has to do. I love reading about this crazy small town and the Walkers. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
Hum...I’m only giving 3 stars because of Travis and Gabe 😜 maybe because I’m not in my best mood but i very much disliked this story...but it was Nicole Edwards and I’m very fond of her writing. So I’m giving 3 stars ⭐️
Kinda disappointed in this one. I figured out Daniel’s reason for being a jackass quicker than Travis. I didn’t even have anyone to investigate Daniel’s past like Travis did. 😜 Then it was all resolved too quickly. I loved the way Jeff fought for Mack, but I still feel like Mack needed to stand up to Daniel for what he did.
I will give it a 4 1/2 Stars. I also figured what happens out before the reveal of what happened. Still love all of the characters. Thanks for giving us a family we would love to have as our own. 💜💜💜
Oh man if you have read any of the books that feature a Walker brother than you have most likely read about Moonshiners and Mack the bartender. I think for me Mack is kinda like Curtis Walker... Someone they all look to when we needed to talk or a place to escape. And of course there was that wee thing about him being gay and yep he did come out of the stockroom closet. Then we have the hot sheriff in Coyote Ridge who happens to be gay and didn't hide the fact. He and Mack happened to visit the little resort outside of town together and of course , small town everyone knows all!. No more so than Mack son who we call know has been a pain in this couple's rear for years. Well they are no longer a couple but we know that from past books. Yes this book is a continuation of sorts from all the books leading up to it but it is its own book. Let me just say this, If you have never read a single book by author Nicole Edwards you are doing yourself wrong. This author can not only give us books we can escape into for hours at a time but she gives us well written narratives that pertain to things going on around us today. Mack and Jeff's characters are not young but closer to my age which I like and are facing things that so many face day in and out. She gives us wonderful MM stories but also loving families and communities too. This is one of the reasons that I not only read her books once but read and re-read them many times . I am not reading "Curtis" again for the third time. Nicole Edwards' books just do not get old only better with each reading. I read books to help with my brain after multi seizures & strokes and I write reviews on all I read as a way to thank the authors as a gift of their words.
5 Star review of Mack (Walker of Coyote Ridge #7) by Nicole Edwards
As with many books I have read by Nicole Edwards, Mack was hot and the scenes absolutely sizzled.
Anything to do with Coyote Ridge and by extension the Walker family and their friends, I will happily read and it was great to see a few cameo appearances from my favourite family. I love that no matter how distant a Walker relationship is, they will dive in a support one another and their friends.
Mack Schwartz walked away from true love with Jeff Endsley four years ago and knows it was the biggest mistake of his life.
I have been intrigued with Mack since he was introduced in the series. Mack was an emotional roller coaster of a read as Mack struggled to come to terms with his past and the future that he appears to have on front of him. This book had drama, angst, romance, humour, love and for me ticked all the boxes.
I really loved Mack and the man who finally got him, Jeff. There was just something about these two together that made me melt, although at times my heart just about broke for Mack and Jeff
I was so frustrated by the behaviour of Mack’s son Daniel, I really wanted to smack some sense in to him and tell him to grow up. Especially since he has convinced to sell his bar Moonshiners and leave Coyote Ridge.
This is a story that will suck you in and get to you in a way that only a Nicole Edwards book can do and in my humble opinion she is one of the best MM authors around.
Short and sweet, that’s the best way to describe this book. Let’s add in scorching hot to make it a bit more accurate. I’ve been salivating for this story ever since reading the bits about Mack and Jeff in A Coyote Ridge Christmas. They are just so good together.
The story of how Mack and Jeff are being kept apart is heartbreaking. As a parent I can understand Mack’s need to make his child happy, but his son Daniel just goes to far and gets downright nasty. Of course, good ole Travis Walker cannot keep his nose out of other people’s business, especially when it’s someone he cares about. But what is Daniel’s reason for treating his father with so much disrespect and disdain?
I felt I knew where this story was going, and I did to a certain extent. But Daniel’s reasoning goes deeper than I expected. While I feel for Daniel and his twisted view of things, I still couldn’t fully forgive how he twisted Mack into knots and almost destroyed a beautiful couple for good.
This story is way shorter than I’m used to with this author, but she still managed to fit in all of the heat, love, and humor that I’m used to in her other books. Truth be told, I love everything this author writes.
I had been waiting a very long time to read Mack's story, and it did not disappoint. OK, the only downside is that it could have been longer, because I was not ready for it to end when it did. Mack is a short and sweet read about a father's unconditional love for his son, and how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice to make his son happy. Mack has given up the love of his life, Sheriff Jeff Endsley, Sawyer Walker's wife, Kennedy's father, and is now on the verge of giving up even more to please his son, Daniel. However, this is a Nicole Edwards' book, so, of course, there was a huge twist, which you will not see coming. And of course, since Mack is the owner of Moonshiners, a place we have come to know and love since our very first Walker Brothers book, Kaleb, that means Travis Walker will have something to say about what is going on. As Travis says, "I only stick my nose in when it involves family, and Mack is family."
Mack was absolutely a joyful read with witty dialogue, all of the steaminess you expect from a Nicole Edwards book, and of course, our favorite residents of Coyote Ridge. I can't wait to read the next book in the Coyote Ridge series, All In, but, let me also say that I am hoping for a book on Rafe, Rex's brother. Mack is yet another great read by Nicole Edwards.
Mac, book ten in the Walkers of Coyote Ridge collection, was a long time coming. The owner of Moonshiners is always in the background of the story, and now his story is being told. The book was a great read but frustrating in the same breath. I found myself yelling at my phone as I read.
Mac made the choice to end things with the love of his life, Sheriff Jeff Endsley, four years prior when they were seen together at Alluring Indulgence. Why? Word got back to his son Daniel, who gave him an ultimatum. Apparently, Daniel was ashamed of his dad being gay. Plagued with guilt about his son’s childhood, Mac agrees. Daniel is back in his life making him miserable. Not because he's there but because he expects Mac to be something he’s not. Daniel is also pushing him to sell the Moonshiners and walk away from his entire life in Coyote Ridge.
Did I mention Coyote Ridge is a small town? Word spreads like wildfire, and Travis Walker catches wind. He and his family step in to stop Mac from walking away from his happiness and the love of his life. The story also takes an unexpected turn that I didn’t see coming. True to Nicole Edwards's style, the book keeps you guessing and has a lot of heat—and I’m not talking about the Texas weather.
*4,5 stars* So many emotions were running through me while reading this book. It's been a while since I've read this author and every time I revisit the Walkers family, I can't help but feel nostalgic and excited at the same time. I had difficult times reading this story 'cuz I really felt for the characters and just wanted to crawl into the book to keep the hurt away. Loved the chemistry between Mack & Jeff, and hoping for that happy ending...
After breaking of his relationship to keep his son happy, it feels like he's spiraling down but Mack tries to keep his head above water and just take in the pain. Nothing feels okay anymore but he takes into stride an holds out hope he can repare their relationship. Even though Jeff still feels deeply for Mack, he can only stay on the sidelines but the more time passes, maybe it's finally time to go after the one that got away. Both still have so many feelings for one another but the past stands in the way. Will Mack finally stand up for himself and will they find their way back to each other?...
EXCELLENT quick read by Nicole Edwards! Mack is the Owner of Moonshines, Coyote Ridge's to go to bar where friends and family get together. Mack has been running the place for years and everyone loves him. Especially the towns sheriff Jeff, who lost him four years ago. Thanks to Mack's son Daniel saying that Mack was an embarrassment to him being gay. So Daniel gave Mack the choice of either continuing his relationship with Jeff, or him. Now Daniel wants Mack to sell his home and his bar and move by him, far away from his friends, and Jeff. Is Jeff too late to get him back before he is out of his life forever? Can Mack suffer anymore without Jeff? All the Walker family is back in this book and you will fall in love with Mack as I did!! A steamy must read!
I was so ready for Mac's story, he has been in the background of so many books in this series. Greatest bar tender to the home of the Walkers' family. Same for Jeff Endsley, The openly gay sheriff of Coyote Ridge. This is a story of unconditional love, family, and friends that back you up whether you want it or not. But all Walker fans know Travis Walker. Mac would do anything for his grown son to make up for what he felt was making his son's life hard. But did that go so far as to sell his house, his bar, and leave the love of his life? Not if Jeff could help it. This book is amazing and follows the fight for real love, including that of friends and family. Loved the happily ever after, and of course the appearance of the entire Walker crew.
I have been hoping for Mack and Jeff’s story, since I first read Sawyer. I was so hoping for this story I even posted a question to Nicole Edwards on goodreads, seeing if she had one planned. I had been counting down since it was announced and only put it off this long because I was finishing “Salvation in Darkness”. I had all the feels in this story: frustration with Mack, pissed at Daniel, pride in Jeff, love of support in Kennedy, curiosity in Travis, mild hate and more pissed at Daniel 🥴, and then...🥰🥰🥰 I absolutely love Nicole Edwards’ town of Coyote Ridge, the Walker Family that started our journey there and all the couples/relationships we have fallen in love with since. Side note, No one write MM better than Nicole Edwards!
Having visited Coyote Ridge a number of times in the past, you know the love shared by Mack and Jeff is not new.
However, the story of Mack and Jeff is captivating in a number of ways. It is one of sacrifice, heartbreak, deception and ultimately unconditional love.
In Mack's bid to have a positive relationship with his son, he's expected to jump through the 'hoops' that Daniel constructs.
It is a beautiful day indeed when Mack chooses the love of his life, even if the relationship with his son is at risk of becoming a casualty.
This is a story about making a stand, finding happiness and accepting love in which ever form it takes!
Mack is a wonderful addition to the Coyote Ridge 'family' of publications where love really is a celebration.
Mack from the Walkers of Coyote Ridge was probably one of my favorite stories from Nicole Edwards. Having read about Mack, Moonshiners owner and bartender, and Jeff, Sheriff of Coyote Ridge and Kennedy's Dad, in other books, I was so glad to be able to read their happily ever after. This is a MM story that focuses on the couple and the obstacles they had to endure in the relationship. There were times I wanted to throw my phone because of the craziness then there were times I cried because of everything they had to go through to be together. And as always it is great to get a glimpse of the other Walkers to see what mischief they are causing. So, this is truly a fantastic read and one I would recommend to anyone.
If there was ever a book I didnt like it would be this one.
OMG the start of this book was terrible. A grown arse man falling for the demands of a child no way and I have four adult kids who I love so so much. Went straight to the end and it was okay but still the concept of the story was terrible. There was a whole other way this story could of went instead of making a grown man look like a complete idiot who has no (for better words) balls to stand up for himself. No wonder sometimes the gay population feels like they take one step forward and five back, because of people like Mack and his son and stories like this. Oh and as if Jeff would wait for 4yrs for Mack to grow a pair right!!
I absolutely love the Walkers. I love this whole series. I love all the characters and feel a deep connection with each and every one of them. That's what Nicole Edwards does. That's the magic of her writing. I think I have read just about every book she has written. I love each and every one. I fall further and further in love with each book she releases. I can't devour them fast enough. I feel like I have waited forever for Mack's book and I'm so glad it was as emotionally heartwarming as I wanted it to be. He deserved his HEA. This, as well as all others this author writes is definitely a 5 star read for me! Can't wait to see what's next!
Take a quick trip back into the world of The Walkers of Coyote Ridge! This town is filled with people who care, look out for and support one another and when one of their own is struggling the people will do what is necessary to protect their own. We have meet Mack in some of the previous books in the series. He is the owner and bartender at Moonshiners and he is one of those characters that you knew had a complicated back story that was waiting for the right time to come out.
Nicole Edwards knows how to write MM romance and watching Mack and Jeff finally battle their way back to the love Mack denied them years early was such a beautiful story!
Mack brought out the rage in me I must admit! I couldn't decide who I wanted to fight first him or the crappy son! yes we go out of our damn way for our kids but this one takes the biscuit and for real like my patience was very bloody thin! but Jeff came to the rescue and I am so glad he was because Jesus i couldn't take another minute of that disaster. poor Mack he didn't deserve that torture another one of Niccole's books that delivered in fine fashion did not want to put it down and did I start it and read it all from 5 am in the morning? yup and do I feel bad about that absolutely not! and did I move on to Kaden and Keegan? yes, I did! devouring these books!
Mack, the owner of Moonshiners, is being tested by his own son. To prove that his son is more important to him than being happy, Mack ends his relationship with Jeff, the town’s sheriff. He’s miserable and now his son wants him to sell the bar and his home and move to Austin.
Get ready for the ride because this story has you going up and down. I’m a firm believer of everyone being able to love whomever their heart wants. Doesn’t matter if it’s the same gender. Will Mack and Jeff find their HEA?
We get a little peek into Jeff and Mack in the previous book. Jeff and Mack were together and then four years ago, Mack's son insisted that he break off his relationship with Jeff. Now he is insisting that Mack sell his house and his bar and move to Austin to live a "respectable" life. Mack is really torn because he and Jeff have been together again but he feels he owes his son. I really loved these two guys and was hoping they would work things out. There's a bit of a twist in this one and I loved it. Hope there are more books in this series. I would still like Rafe to get his HEA.
I cannot believe the carp that Daniel, put Mack, his father, through. I felt so bad for him, because he has a heart of gold. Poor Mack thought that he failed his son, so he basically sacrifice his happiness to please his son. I'm so glad that the Walker brothers, namely Travis, got involved and rescue Mack. That Daniel was a piece of work. And to think after all he put his father through. He's nothing but a chip off the old block. So glad that Mack and his one true love Jeff, got their happily ever after😁
I really love The Walker books and was happy to see Mack's story. I wish it could have been a little longer. Mack is the bar owner that we have seen in past books. He is in a relationship with Jeff but has to forgo it because of his son. His son was a little piece of work who was not a nice person to his dad. As his story unfolds we are let into his secrets and past pain. It seems that his story needs to be continued. It was nice seeing the Walker brothers in this story and hope there is more to this family series.
So this is Mack's story, parts of which we've had in snippets from other books. Mack is a private man so when I knew this book was coming, I got a little excited. Nicole hasn't disappointed, Mack is every bit the man I thought he was. His son Daniel is not someone to be trusted so when he starts to demand things from Mack, it gets messy! I loved Mack's story, I just wished it was longer. I 5 stars.
I looked forward to reading Mack and Jeff's story. I instantaneously hated Mack's son Daniel and how Mack thought he owed it to him. The fact that Jeff stood by in the distance waiting and hoping broke my heart. Then you have Travis. Never fear Travis is here and he will figure out what is going on. All in all this was a good book, more like a novella it was a short quick read in true Nicole fashion leaving you wanting more.
I devoured Mack and Jeff’s story. All of the drama that Mack’s son caused between them was so frustrating. I could feel the heartbreak, and it was so sad. I adored Jeff’s determination to get Mack back, and Mack had very little strength to deny him. They had an amazing connection, and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the way everyone stood by Mack during all the craziness. Coyote Ridge is an incredible place to visit.
4 years wasted. Daniel, Macks son wants retribution against who his father is sexually. Mack, under pressure is throwing away all he loves and the one he loves Jeff. No spoiling, but we read on the struggles that Mack is facing. The pressure put forth by his son and his high expectations. Jeff, is running out of time and can only hope to still hold onto what he and Mack had. A m/m read, and beautifully written. Well worth the read.
