New York Times bestselling author Skye Jordan brings you a sexy new series of stand alone romances!
After a lifetime of abandonment, Miranda Wright depends on no one but herself. She’s about to break ground on her dream of building green, affordable houses for retired veterans, and she’s not about to let anything alter her plans—especially not a sexy know-it-all architect from New York. Her strict, no-seconds rule has kept her heart safe this far, so why fix what isn’t broken?
When a family crisis strikes, Jack Taylor is on the next flight to Nashville. But coming home stirs up more betrayal than answers, and he finds the perfect distraction in a feisty but guarded brunette. Only, one-night turns into a whole lot more, and Jack finds himself all-in by the time he discovers that Miranda’s secrets may very well cost him not only the family business, but his heart.
4 Classic Skye Jordan Stars * * * * Spoiler Free-A Quick Review I discovered Skye Jordan in 2013 and she rocked my world with her book, Reckless (Renegades #1). She created a world full of Alpha Stuntmen and the women they tripped over themselves for...And the Sexy times were just the right touch of sensual, flirty when needed, raw or drawn out to the point where you needed a cold drink of water after you finished reading that chapter.
In other words, she knew exactly how to capture a reader and hold them in the palm of her hand. She crafted a tale that had all the fixin'. A solid story, an undercurrent of some type of issue, and the unfortunate promise of there would be a conflict before the couple figured out the mistake. It all worked so well and I loved it.
Ms. Jordan went on to do more books in the series and now I found another series she has out. So Wright is the first of a trio of books, all available now to enjoy. This first book introduces you to Miranda Wright and Jack Taylor.
The blurb lays everything out and what you need to take with you when reading this is the fact that Miranda gives as good as she gets. She is strong because she had to be, with a background that is better it is in the past. It made her learn to close herself off and live her life the way she wanted, without any relationships except for one, the man who was the closest to a father.
Jack Tayor has his own things he needs to deal with and when he sets eyes on Miranda he is in for the ride of his life, mentally and physically. They connect from the start and we get to be there.
This series has 2 other books out- ready to binge.
It is never a bad thing when an author whose work you adore begins a new series and Skye Jordan sets up her new The Wrights series in fine fashion in So Wright. Two people who grew up in very different worlds share a physical connection which turns into more while overcoming obstacles both professionally and personally in this emotionally charged and sexy romance.
Miranda Wright learned early in life that the only person she could truly count on was herself. Sure she has the only father figure she’s ever really known, Marty, and his mom, but she still subscribes to the belief that on her own is what’s best for her.
Back in Nashville to figure out how to save the business his father built from the ground up, Jack Taylor loves being close to his sister, nephews and dad once again. He’s concerned about his father’s health and worried that if they can’t find his dad’s embezzling business partner and the reason their biggest project is way over on their supply budget that the business might be doomed. One night out and he meets a bewitching woman who makes it clear from the start that one night is all they can have.
Let me just say straight up I LOVED the chemistry between Miranda and Jack from the start. Ms. Jordan knows how to turn up the heat and she delivers sizzling sexy scenes right from the start, but it is the connection between these two that really drew me in. It is obvious that they come from different worlds, have different views on where they see themselves within the next few years, yet I couldn’t help but root for them because they just seemed to need one another.
My one complaint is from very early on in this story I knew what their big “blow up/conflict” was going to be. I spotted it from a mile away and all I had to do was wait for it to happen and it did. I was hoping I was wrong and Miranda’s need to not share her history and secrets with Jack wouldn’t make him doubt her, but sadly, it happened and I was a bit disappointed the book would down that road. That being said, apologies were made, there was even somewhat of a grand gesture, and a happily ever after did happen.
Skye Jordan delivers a engaging, sexy, and emotion filled romance in So Wright.
A great start for a new series. Jack and Miranda meet at a bar, and she thinks it's gonna be one and done.....the best laid plans of mice and men. Jack is trying to find an embezzler and a thief in his father's company. Miranda is trying to get her business off the ground, but is afraid. She hides to much for him, and it almost ruins their fledgling romance. Her sister...I can't decide if I like her or not, and the brother we never see (but I'm guessing they will both get books). Now Roman...what's his story?
Rainy days in winter are always better with a relaxing book to read. This book proved just what I needed to read today. It had sizzle, spice, strong lead characters, romance, family, and so much more. I do believe this series will be one that is worth pursuing.
What I liked: * Miranda: strong sense of self, professional welder, works hard on the job, assists in a friend’s bar, gives back in a volunteer capacity, has trust issues, and has walls up to protect herself…and yet…boy does she sizzle! * Jack: strong, intelligent, loves his family, pulled in many directions due to work and issues with his father’s business, wants to settle down, and seeing Miranda he knows she is special BUT can he convince her…and does he have what it takes to make the relationship work? * Marty: the father figure in Miranda’s life * Miranda’s backstory and how it will form and impact the series – looking forward to reading her siblings books in the future * That the main lead characters seem of equal strength in most every way – they seemed to be perfect for one another IF they managed to work through a few issues * Gypsy: Miranda’s sister…seems there is more to her than we see in this book * The family feeling that runs through the book…Jack’s family is close and also there is the potential for Miranda’s family to reconnect in the series * The volunteer aspect that included building homes for the needy from cargo containers (had to look those up!) * All of it really except…
What I didn’t like: * Bruce and his son Alex – they were baddies that deserved to spend some time in jail. * The tough childhood that Miranda lived through
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Yes
Was I expecting a great book? Sure. Was I expecting this story to slap me upside the head from the very first page? Not really. But let me say that as soon as you read the very first words about Jack Taylor, you will be hooked! And I wanted to kidnap him, right off the pages of this story.
If anyone deserves a great guy, it is Miranda Wright. Don’t get me wrong, she is strong, successful (to everyone but herself), smart…and gorgeous but life has not been very kind to her, so far. She has a great support system – Marty and his mother are the best! – but her early years really took a toll on her self-esteem, her belief in her abilities, and herself. When she and Jack “meet” each other, the pages of this story literally sizzle. Their story is hawt, smexy, tender, sweet – a great combination of everything you want to read in a Skye Jordan story. Don’t get me wrong, there are some really tough issues the author deals with, there are some really nasty bad guys, but for me, at its core, it is a heart-grabbing story for two sorta lost souls.
Jack is a strong character, with some boy flaws (no worries!), but I love the balance of his alpha side and wonderfully loving, loyal and sweet side. And Miranda, oh boy did my heart break for her. She has had a tough beginning but she came thru it with some “issues”, yes but she is very strong and capable and the perfect match for Jack. And I’m pulling for both their families!
Jack is a busy architect from New York that has come home to Nashville to help his sister with their father and the family construction company where there has been some embezzlement. I felt bad because Jack is so busy with his firm and feels bad he hasn’t been home to help with his father and relieve his sister some. She has three small boys that Jack loves, but needs some quiet so goes to a local bar he used to go to. Miranda is bar tending there and she catches his eye even though many other women are trying to get his attention. Miranda is a complex person that has so many walls put up around her, it is hard for anyone to get close to her. I felt so bad for the way she grew up. I was also proud that she made something of herself even with all the bad things that happened to her. It was cool that she was a welder which there are not many women. She was also one of the best welders. I did love the Warriors group that Miranda volunteered for using her welding talents.
Jack had a hard road to try and get Miranda to give him more than one night. Miranda does not give too much information out about herself. There are misunderstandings all over the place, and someone is trying to make things hard on Jack. This is a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
Thank you NetGalley, Cygnet Books and Skye Jordan for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! What’s one other who’s writing style you know you can always expect and always right? This was my second Skye Jordan book ( I read Going Under in July!), and I recognized her writing right away! Her characters are different, but they all feel connected at the same time. I’m rambling, this has nothing to do with this book, just a fun observation I noticed! Moving on! This is not a light and fun read that you pick up as a palate cleanser between heavier books. This is your guilty pleasure, can’t put it down but would blush if someone saw the page kind of book. We all need one of the latter every once in a while! The chemistry in this one is HOT and you’ll be hooked on these two just has quickly as they were hooked on each other! Skye Jordan’s stories keep a quick pace throughout that makes binge reading the book in one setting more than easy. This is book #1 in her new The Wrights series, stay tuned for more!
So Wright is one HOT romance read with a beautiful story about a badass heroine who continues to persevere.
Miranda Wright didn't have the perfect life growing up. She dealt with so much that effected her. She had to grow up at a young age and even though she endured some dire times it shaped her into the woman she is.
Jack Taylor is a sexy architect from New York. He goes to Nashville to help his father's company from embezzlement. That is where he meets the feisty Miranda.
A one night stand was to be one night, but Jack can't get enough of her. He has to convince her that he is worth fighting for.
So Wright is filled with so much passion and angst. I loved all the steamy scenes.
Overall, I really enjoyed the heart of the story. I give So Wright 4 stars. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a charming hero, a fierce heroine, and a love strong enough to survive the good and bad times.
*I received this in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley* The romance in this was beyond adorable. The plot was gripping and the humour was great. I definitely had concerns in the first half that everything was moving very slowly and not much was happening. The blurb kind of gave away a little too much in my opinion as it definitely robbed the reader of the surprise of them meeting on the construction site and I dont think its needed in the blurb anyway, especially as that happens well after the halfway mark of the book. My biggest gripe with this howevee was that the whole sideplot with Gypsy was rather dull and wasnt exactly needed. But the writing was great and the main plot was brilliant and the romance!! It was so sweet. Great read.
Sexy takes a walk on the sensitive side and delivers heartstopping drama. So Wright is the beginning of series that will break a heart, even as it tempts your senses. First up is Miranda Wright, a firecracker with a chip on her shoulder and a whole lot of heart. Bruised by life, battered by love, she's determined to make a place for herself. She had no way of knowing that fate had other plans in store that would rock her world to it's very core. So Wright is a battle of bruised egos, battered hearts and hard won romance that will turn your heart inside out before it finally lays claim to your soul.
I am loving Skye Jordan's books ! I am on a roll with her books ! Jack and Miranda have a super hot and complex relationship. It starts off hot and it leads to a whole lot more. Jack is home to help out his family and their business. Miranda is a loner who doesn't want relationships or much of anything to get in her way of being independent.
Their lives intertwine more and more as they learn more about each other. Jack knows it is going to take a lot of convincing to win over Miranda. And he won my heart. Loved Jack!
This was another bookstagram recommended read and after seeing it available on KU I dived right in! I loved Jack and Miranda and I found the author wrote their chemistry perfectly! I liked both family backgrounds were laid out and the way they reacted to each other was hot 🔥 This was an easy quick read and I absolutely loved it 💜
I’m keen to continue this series and I will also check out more from this author in the future!
I’m a long time reader and fan of Skye Jordan and I was so excited when I heard we were getting a new book and new characters to fall in love with. I will admit there was a little fear that maybe I wouldn’t feel as strongly about this new world as I have about her previous series, but I’m happy to report, I’m 100% in love with Jack and Miranda!!
There’s a chemistry that’s undeniable between our H/h and one hot and sexy night doesn’t seem to be enough for either of them which is totally going against how they normally protect themselves from hurt. Ms. Jordan does a stellar job of bringing us into both of their lives and their surrounding family, some of which will cause some trust issues to say the least.
I fell in love with Miranda and what she’s trying to do. But this isn’t an easy journey she’s traveling and this woman has had to fight for everything she’s accomplished in life and this new project for retired Vets is a battle she’s determined to win. She’s fiercely independent and goes after what she wants which I truly admire. She doesn’t take “no” for an answer that’s for sure.
For Jack, he’s come home to help his family because his father hasn’t been the same since his mother passed and there’s a problem with the family business and he’s going to do everything he can to save the business and as you can guess things aren’t going to be easy thanks to so many trust issues. When these two are on the same page, it’s all systems go in every way possible!!!
Ms. Jordan has once again created a world that I’m excited to dive into with characters that are diverse, interesting and go after what they want. There’s secondary characters that I’m hoping will get their own books in this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!
What I Loved: So Wright was such a fabulous romance read for February! Skye Jordan does an absolutely amazing job with her romance novels! I was hooked on page one and flew through this book because I just couldn’t put it down! I loved every page, every scene.
How I Felt: The Characters: Let’s talk about Jack…wow! He is one you are going to be wishing was in your life, for real! He’s sexy and successful and just what you want out of a character like this. Miranda is a bit hard around the edges, but her background helps you to understand why. Her character development throughout this book was wonderful. It was a joy to watch her open up to allow love to come into her life. I enjoyed the chemistry between these two. It was STEAMY and perfect!!
The Writing: Skye Jordan has a wonderful way of writing. Her words just make the scenes flow right into each other. I didn’t even realize I was moving on to a new chapter at times. I was just so invested in the story! The story has very down-to-earth plot lines that made me feel so wrapped up in the story. I could relate to what was happening and it just made me love the book even more. If you haven’t experienced Skye Jordan’s writing yet, you are in for a treat!
Content Warnings: Steamy sexual scenes.
Overall: So Wright is a romance that has real-life scenarios mixed with characters you will fall for and steam you will love.
To Read or Not To Read: If you enjoy romance novels with strong chemistry, a pretty kick-A female heroine, and a sexy lead guy, this book is for you! It is also the first book in a new series for Skye Jordan, so you can look forward to book two in March 2020!
I was provided a free copy of this book. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
I received this arc from Cygnet Books for an honest review.
This publication has a date of 2019. Opens with Jack Taylor coming home to help his sister with their father’s company after their mother passed and their father having health issues. They have also found that the father’s business partner has stolen money. He leaves his sisters and goes to a bar close to the hotel he is staying at where he finds himself drawn to one of the female bartenders. Miranda Wright is surprised when the last call comes and the same man that has turned away multiple drinks from different women is still sitting and saying he wants to take her for coffee. Hell, she tells him after a few questions and a photo of his ID to her friend that he needs to take her to his hotel room or she might as well go home. When he actually puts her coat on for her, she should have known he was going to be difficult. The difficult part is him not wanting to be with her, for her shows up again and this is where the story between the two of them take off. Then you have her past coming back to haunt her first in the form of her half-sister who she has not seen in years, she has a surprise for her. Then her own past gets thrown in her face when she was 15 living on the streets. She is also one of the top welders and low and beholds works for his father’s construction company which causes problems, for him, not her. But really these are just things can they both work past which others past for that is what holds them back from having a relationship; Even for all of the good, she does they both need each other though they continue to push the other one away. See what happens in this story of two lost people, trying to find something. A good book with good characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
This story is steamy! The sexual chemistry between these two is intense. The conflict is easy to see coming and for me a bit weak but totally understandable considering the hero and heroine's character. I always enjoy Skye's stories and I am so glad she's got a new release.
Miranda Wright is a driven woman who's determined to keep people from knowing the real her. She was the accidental daughter of an addicted woman. She raised herself and her 2 younger half-siblings into her teens and was on her own by 15. To say she has a thick skin would be mild. She works constantly and only has time for the occasional one-night stand and makes sure it stays that way. When Jack Taylor walks into her mentor Marty's bar sparks fly and Jack talks her into coming back to his hotel with him. Jack, a New York architect is home to help his family as his Dad is suffering from rapid dementia and the family business is in financial trouble. While Jon was declining his partner in Pinnacle Construction embezzled a lot of money and Jack's here to save the business while juggling his partnership in the architectural firm in New York. Jack's not satisfied with just one night with Miranda and pursues her until she says yes while she keeps her life secret. Sparks fly and both find there is more going on than sex. As they spend more time together their individual lives start to come together and it's a train wreck as she works for Pinnacle. Because Miranda and Jack were not telling each other who they were, when the truth comes out trust is broken. They have to work hard to make changes in their lives, take risks and trust each other to get to their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So Wright is Book 1 in The Wrights Series by Skye Jordan. This book gave me all of the feels. First we meet Miranda who is a strong independent female. She has lived on her own for most of her life and grew up not having a mother that was dependable. As soon as she met a new guy she was throwing Miranda to the side in the search of love and her next fix. She has a brother and sister but each of them have different father's that are more interested in their lives. She has grown up believing that the only person she can depend on is herself.
Jack Taylor is a successful architect in New York but when a family emergency requires his attention back home he returns to Nashville to help his sister Jen and his father Jon out with the family business. His father owns his own construction company but his partner of many years took off with the money and his son seems to be following in his father's footsteps and finding his own way to steal from the company. Jack sets up shop in the local bar where he sees Miranda tending bar. He takes her back to his hotel room with no promises of tomorrow but they both have the best night of their lives and cannot stay away from the other.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is, "He grew roots. Felt the click of a missing piece settle into place, completing him." This is the feeling that everyone wants to feel when they meet the "one". Skye Jordan not only writes an amazing romance story but also writes amazingly strong women. I found myself feeling compassion and empathy for Miranda throughout the story. I can not wait to read the next book in the series, Damn Wright which is about Miranda's half brother Dylan.
OMG yes! This is such a great book. It is so well written with a great storyline. The characters are really interesting. Jack is a NY based architect who is back home in Nashville, Tennessee to save his father’s construction company from imminent bankruptcy. And, on his first night back in town, he meets Miranda, who is a bartender at the local bar, situated near the hotel he’s staying at while he’s in town. Miranda is a “Jack of All Trades”; she’s a welder by day, a sometimes bartender by night, and in her spare time she is constructing tiny houses out of shipping containers. Her biggest dream in life is to own her own building company that supplies low budget tiny homes to war veterans and homeless people. See... really great characters!
From the moment Jack and Miranda laid eyes on each other, the chemistry between them was sultry hot and they couldn’t keep away from each other. Both characters had family issues to deal with... Jack with his father’s dementia and faltering family business, while still trying to give some support to his overwhelmed and stressed out sister; and Miranda, who is trying to figure out how to deal with her estranged sister who suddenly appeared on her doorstep wanting to rekindle their sibling bond. Skye does an amazing job melding the two storylines together, as well as keeping the book flowing at a great pace and enveloping you into the storyline. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
*I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I loved that this book turned the tables in that the female character was the one who wanted the one-night stand and was afraid of commitment, while the male character wanted more. Even though Miranda had a really rough upbringing, she had a strong work ethic and was determined to not turn out like her mother. And who wouldn’t love Jack ... no really, who? He’s a hunk who is dedicated to his family and wants to start one of his own. The situations and the banter between the characters was very realistic and dealt with everyday issues. This book made me laugh-out-loud while being very serious at times. I haven’t read a book by Ms Jordan that I haven’t loved and this book is no exception. A great start to the series and I highly recommend it.
Jack is back home to help his sister with their father who has developed dementia. And then there’s the fact that his father’s business partner of 30 years has taken off with all the company money, leaving the Taylor family holding the bag. When Jack goes to his old hangout for a drink, he sees Miranda tending bar and is immediately smitten with her. Miranda only wants one night with the handsome stranger ... and no more. Will Jack win her over and convince her to extend her one night to more? Or are their worlds too different for more?
I received a copy courtesy of Cygnet Books through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
So Wright is the first book in The Wrights series and tells the story of Miranda and Jack. They meet one evening at a bar and have a fantastic night together. Miranda has commitment issues, due to things that have happened as she was growing up and she never goes back for a second time. It soon becomes clear that there is no way for her to avoid Jack, as their lives cross and before long she is trying to find out if they can really have a future together. This was a good read. I enjoy books with strong female leads and Miranda certainly falls into that category. She knows what she wants out of life, even if she does have a tendency to put off going for it. She has plenty of ambition and drive but lacks the confidence in her own abilities to take it all the way. Even so, she's already defied the odds and become a successful welder. Jack is looking for a relationship, but he hasn't been looking in the right places. He soon discovered that Miranda might just be what he needs. I did think that this couple may have got on a little better if they had just talked a little more. Even so, they worked well as a couple and I enjoyed following their romance. This was a good read and I would be keen to read more in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Jack is in town to help his family get back on track with the family business. He is trying to sort out the problems that were caused by his dad's business partner. Since his father is having health issues and his sister is busy trying to take care of her family and father, Jack realizes that he has his work cut out for him.
Miranda is a tough as nails, independent, hard working woman that doesn't believe in love or forever. While she has fun and enjoys life, she refuses to let anyone get too close.
But sometimes when you try to keep a distance, you don't see who is breaking through the barriers. But this causes more problems when you trying to keep yourself self. And Jack & Miranda find this out when the secrets that they keep inside finally come to light. Now they have to find a way to get through the mess that the secrets caused.
Skye Jordan is one of my go to authors that always brings characters that you want to know more about. I fell in love with Jack when he was holding his nephew in the very beginning of the story. And that part of his character shows throughout the story and it makes you cheer for him.
The journey is half the battle and these two are worth the fight! Another winner from Skye Jordan!
Jack returns home from New York to Nashville to help his family construction company that is in crisis mode. He just made partner and is feeling guilty he has been around to help out and also being pulled back to his own job. Jack loves his family and is doing all he can to repair the damage. His sister with 3 children has been doing it all helping with their Dad who has not been himself since their Mom passed away. Miranda is a hard working women who wants to start her own business building homes but is very unsure of how to get it off the ground without the funds she needs. She is bar tending when she catches Jacks eyes watching her and she decides she needs a night to just let it go. Jack is the date and relationship kinda guy and is thrown for a loop when she says she wants one night. But he can't resist her. There is strong chemistry between them. Miranda character is so complex. I love the family dysfunction in this story. It felt true to real life. She had put many walls around her and didn't know how of if she wanted to trust people. I really enjoyed this book and all the family dynamics.
I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
Jack Taylor is yum to the um and I want him for myself. Jack is a busy New York architect that has come home to Tennessee to help out his sister and get to the bottom of an embezzlement scheme going on with his dad’s construction company. Miranda Wright is a welder by day and part-time bartender at night and when she crosses paths with the hottie from New York, all bets are off. He may just make her break her one night only rule.
Even though Jack and Miranda are clearly from different walks of life, they have some major chemistry that Jordan delivers on every page you turn. I loved everything about this story, even though I knew what their conflict would be from the get-go, I still loved how Jordan handled the storyline.
Miranda has had a hard life to say the least and learned early on she could only trust herself. Her character undergoes a lot of growth throughout this story and it’s amazing to watch her listen and learn to let go and let herself love and be loved. I am in love with this new series from Skye Jordan, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.
Since birth, Miranda has had to work for every penny herself, and has forged her own path. She works as a welder as her day job and on the side has a dream of building affordable housing for retired veterans. Jack is an architect from New York who has just had to come home to Nashville due to his ailing father, and his father’s business partner screwing him over. Did I mention that Jack’s father owns the business Miranda works for? Can the guy who seemingly has everything win over the scrappy welder from the wrong side of town?
This was the first book I’ve read from this author, and I really enjoyed it! Was it predictable? Yes. But it was still well done and I think that’s what counts. Miranda has been dumped on for her entire life, so it’s understandable that she would be really distrustful of Jack. I liked especially that Miranda is not the typical damsel in distress that you get from so many romance authors. She is a tough broad and has no problem letting you know that! I’ll definitely be checking out more books from Skye Jordan.
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Skye Jordan’s first book in The Wright Way series, So Wright, is one wonderful roller coaster ride of emotional turmoil and self discovery. As the characters evolve in their individual journeys of letting go of the past (Miranda) and learning to trust (Jack) the story’s multiple layers unfurl with the secondary characters playing their own roles in demonstrating just what a gifted writer Ms Jordan is.
As with all her books, the characters are realistic and believable, with diverse personalities...you find yourself at the mercy of her ability to draw you in and before you know it, you’re emotionally invested in the journey being taken to a HEA. Intertwined with the romantic moments of the story, is the uncovering of corporate misappropriation of funds and materials...this aspect of the story is rife with tension and misunderstandings on several levels.
I truly am looking forward to the next installment in the series, I have my suspicions as to who it will be centered around, I can’t wait to see if I’m correct.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Love Miranda and the vision she has for her future company. She has truly fought the battle I life and won, finding a job she is passionate about and a small nucleus of friends to keep her sane. She doesn’t do relationships, one and done is her motto. But when sexy New Yorker Jack ends up at the bar where she works, well, she finds herself forgetting her rules. Jack can’t believe the mess the family business is in. A trusted friend has taken advantage while his dad is ill and now, they might lose everything. As he works with his sister Jen to come out of the mess, he finds himself at an old haunt which connects him to Miranda. He is blown away by this sexy, confident woman and knows that one night won’t be enough. Now, relationships are never easy and this journey has some huge pitfalls along the way. I enjoyed the road these two traveled and kept hoping that they can find love in the end. Of course, their incredibly hot, sexual chemistry steamed up my kindle too! I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
So Wright by Skye Jordan is a heartwarming story that brings two people from very different backgrounds together. Not only do we get to see them conquer their own fears and hardships throughout the book, but we are treated to their smokin' hot chemistry whether it's in their conversations or when they are heating up the sheets. Jordan shows us her talent in So Wright with an interesting plot, spectacular characters, and fantastic pacing.
Jack and Miranda are as different as night and day at first glance. I wasn't sold on the two of them at the beginning and Miranda kinda of annoyed me, but I trust Jordan, so I kept reading and was happily satisfied at the end. Jack and Marty were my favorite characters in the story.
Overall, I enjoyed reading about architecture, welding, and learning about shipping container homes (to the point I was Googling them and boy are there some great homes made from shipping containers). If you are looking for a sexy romance story with a solid plot and wonderful characters, give So Wright a read!
*Thank you to Skye Jordan, Cygnet Books and NetGalley for an advanced ARC of this novel*
Miranda Wright is a bad ass and Skye Jordan does a fantastic job bringing her to life on the pages of this fantastic Romantic Fiction.
When Jack and Miranda first meet, it is in a honky tonk bar in Nashville. Jack is here to visit his ailing Father from NYC and investigate some shady dealings at his Father's company. Miranda is a part time bartender and catches Jack's eye immediately. They spend one steamy night together, which is all Miranda is interested in. She has her nice life which she has worked hard to put together including a welding job and her adopted family. There is no time for romance but Jack is hooked and desperate to find her.
This is my first time reading Skye Jordan and won't be the last. She knows to write amazing character development and realistic dialogue. Miranda is a strong main character and doesn't put up with anything from anyone, which is really refreshing to read. Five stars for So Wright!
So Wright was my first book by this author and I was excited to dive in. I feel like it was a little slow to start, but after a little while I found myself a little more invested in the story. I enjoyed some parts of the story including the unusual female lead's job and some of the other aspects of the book that made this story unique, including her building interests. I also liked Jack's desire to help his family and his continued pursuit (in a sweet, non-creepy way) of Miranda despite her attempts to make their relationship just a one-time thing. I liked that he could see past the walls she tried to put up due to vulnerabilities and that he felt like she was important enough to keep trying for. Having said all that, I do feel like the story was just kind of okay for me. I feel like it was either missing something, or maybe had too much going on, which impacted the effectiveness of the story. I would definitely like to check out more of the author's work to see if I enjoyed another story a bit more.
This book starts off interesting. It engages my interest and doesn't let go until the last page. I can't say that about all books I read. With relatively few words, Skye introduces believable characters (even the minor characters are interesting) with real-life problems that had me invested and caring about what happened to them right from page 1.
From there, the story flows at a steady pace, never forced and never wordy, which, again, I can't say about all books I read.
Oh, and did I mention how HOT this book is?! Yeah...Jack is a "walk softly but carry a big stick" kind of guy (no pun intended), and his reserved alpha-ness certainly had my attention!
All in all, this is a great contemporary romance, a great way to spend my free time and I CAN'T WAIT for more Skye books! I will read ANYTHING she writes!!
(I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts)
