Despite the book's title, the book touches upon many other topics besides financial independence, summarizing the author's thoughts and advice on work, health, investment, career development, and even happiness. Given such broad range of topics, none is discussed in meaningful details, and often sound like platitudes and cliches, especially if you're already familiar with Stephen Covey's works and concepts related to Law of Attraction.

Even the chapters on investment, supposedly the meat of a book guiding readers towards financial independence, was just okay. After laying out the major steps in stock selection (pretty much what you would learn in business schools), the author emphasizes the difficulties in consistently profitable stock picking, advising most ordinary folks to stick to ETFs and sensible asset allocation. I wouldn't say his suggestions are wrong, but they aren't something new either.
