Back out in the field, building her business one spy-job at a time, life is looking up for Jayne and co.
Perhaps too good.
It’s not long before certain powers in the Techcropolis fear that she’s becoming too powerful. Too successful.
With someone clearly hell bent on sabotaging her reputation, destroying her business and maybe even taking her freedom, Jayne has to pool her resources and figure out who is after her…
With both the cops and her own people closing in on her secret, she’s running out of options.
This may well be worse than just life and death.
Life and death she is used to.
Life and death situations were something she would eat for breakfast.
But dealing with the media, and public opinion? This could be the worst thing she’s had to face.
To add insult to injury, her only salvation may be the most depraved criminal she has ever known.
Yep.
She’s screwed.
If you love space opera you’re going to love Spy for a literary triumph of majestic accomplishments a laugh-out-loud, spew-your-coffee-over-your kindle swashbuckling page turner that follows the shenanigans and best efforts of a somewhat cavalier ex-government spy, Jayne Austin.
Relapsing theoretical physicist, professional geek, sci fi novelist, and Doctor Who fan.
Though she is originally from England, she is mostly what her friends call a “digital nomad”, hanging in whichever country calls to her… as long as it has good wifi, and coffee.
At the end of the last book I decided I wouldn't be reading any follow up books, but I also thought this was a pity as Jayne and Merry had potential. At a loose end, I thought I would give Jayne and Merry another chance. It was a big mistake!!!!!
Another hugely enjoyable instalment in the Interplanetary Spy for Hire series from Ell Leigh Clark and Michael Anderle sees our heroine fighting for survival against hideous odds. Relying heavily on her friends and her wits, Jayne takes on the murky world of politics and power. A great, well written and very entertaining story. Highly recommended!
This is a fun little series, I think I need a dirty little goth cybergenius as my BFF, pretty sure I have dated a Fred and had Vlad as a roommate at some point lol. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at parts and want to face palm at others seeing the situations Jayne gets herself into. The hotties and friends she makes along the way certainly didn't hurt either. I devoured these like jack flaps flap jacks.
In many ways, I can see the similarities between Molly and Jayne: the have self doubt in big dose. Always questioning her own motives, her own hidden agenda. It makes a really different kind of heroine from Bethany Anne who always think she is right. It's refreshing.
Just when it looks like Jayne might get away guess again! The evidence keeps stacking up against her, whatever will happen? Fortunately, it is her story! 😀
