I love to read this author's Suspense Fiction. Plain Refuge did not disappoint this reader. It was a great mix of Suspense and Amish Fiction. I thought all the characters made the story come alive but the two main characters had strong and enduring personalities. I found the book to be very entertaining and definitely an edge of seat read. It was unpredictable, action packed, but at the same time easy to read and I was riveted to the pages.
Aiden Forster works under cover for the police department. His goal is to put drug dealer Phillip Larson in prison where he belongs. Unfortunately things don't go as he planned when he is forced to blow his cover in order to save two innocent women. Phillip Larson works as a insurance agent but in reality he is really a harden criminal and a ruthless killer. His two Nieces, Sophie Larson and Celine Larson unknowingly came to visit their Uncle Phillip at the wrong time and heard something they shouldn't have and now Aiden Forster is trying to keep them alive . They are all running for their lives but every where they go Phillip Larson's men are on their trail. Is there any place they can find to hide away from these hit men who want to see all of them dead. Besides the gripping suspense we have a fragile romance between Aiden and Sophie. Neither really want to get involved with each other but the attraction between the two only grows stronger. Will they be able to walk away from each other when Phillip Larson is bought to justice and the chase is over.
I recommend this book to readers of Suspense and Amish Fiction. The book can be read as a stand alone but it is part of the author's Amish Country Justice series.

This Amish book was a bit different from what I normally read but that's ok because I still enjoyed the characters and the plot.
A page turner to be sure that will keep your interest until the book was finished. It will also keep you guessing as to who the culprit is.
I think Celine and Sophie were magnificent throughout the story and they quickly became my favorites.
Aiden was ok too. Actually, I'll take him too.
In a way, I was sad that Levi didn't get much of a storyline. I love the Amish. Their simple ways of life fascinates me. I thought him an interesting character and I wish I could have gotten to know him more.
Poor Levi!!
I've read this author before and she's quite good with her storytelling. So when I seen this book I very much wanted to read it. I wasn't disappointed at all!
This is the 8th installment by this author which means I'll have to play catch-up.
I highly recommend this book!
My thanks to Just Reads Tours for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own!

Intense suspense with a side order of Amish.

Plain Refuge starts out with a gripping, hair-raiser of an opening scene and keeps up a steady pace of danger and intrigue right to the very end. Wooossshhhh! That's me finally letting out my very last pent-up breath. Lynn has a great sense for drawing out suspenseful tension while merging in a poignant love story. I was on the edge of my seat over both the whole read!

For fans of Amish fiction -- just know that the Amish connection is very light and doesn't come into play until about the half way mark. That in no way marred my enjoyment of this romantic suspense but I just thought I'd give a heads up to to any readers expecting more Amish-centric fiction. And on the flip side, if you aren't an Amish fiction fan, this might just be the perfect book to ease yourself into trying the genre. :-)

I liked the characters in this book from the very beginning, and I got interested in the story because of them. The author did a great job in describing the action and I felt like I was “on the run” with Sophie, Celine, and Aiden. The added difficulty of Celine between a preteen who is almost deaf added an extra layer of tension to the story.

I also liked how the Amish community was willing to help even when they didn’t know these three personally. The danger for all involved in their rescue kept intensifying with every page. There’s a twist at the end that although I thought I knew it was coming, it still had an element of surprise.

I haven’t read every book in this series, but I have enjoyed the ones I’ve read. This book is easy to enjoy on its own.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book kept me spellbound till the very end. My heart was racing and emotions going many directions with the intensity of the suspense surrounding Aiden, Sophie and Celine. I admire how Dana R. Lynn created the character of Celine as a 12 year old deaf sister who was resilient to all the upset she was enduring. The hatred and evil doings of the villain were heart wrenching to think he wanted his own blood relatives killed. Will Aiden be able to save Sophie and Celine when they were being chased no matter where they went? Who was leaking information to the villain and his men?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts are my own sincere ones.

Plain Refuge was another solid Love Inspired Suspense novel from one of my favorite LIS authors, Dana Lynn. I really liked Sophie, Celine was a sweet character, and Aiden was quite the hero. All strong, and brave and protecting Sophie and her sister. The story had lots of page turning moments and I pretty much devoured it in one day. It is a quick and easy read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for Dana's next story!!

Plain Refuge is a very dramatic mystery written by Dana R. Lynn. The author has done a wonderful job telling her story thru her very likeable characters. After overhearing an illegal weapons deal Sophie Larson finally realized all her opinions of her uncle are true. Now her uncle has sent her and her younger sister off with a member of his group to be taken care of. What her uncle doesn't realize is that man is an undercover officer or does he? Within hours they have been tracked down thru a mole in the police station. This journey of keeping these two sisters safe gets up ended at every turn. This is a fascinating story and will definitely keep the reader turning the pages. How the Amish pitch in to help and why is heartwarming and adds a lot to the story.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Dana R. Lynn for writing such a suspenseful story for her readers enjoyment. I always enjoy stories by this author and look forward to the next one.

I am new to Dana R. Lynn, and the Amish Country Justice series, but I must say I am very impressed! From the beginning you are gripped with a sense of foreboding. Aiden Forster is a cop deep undercover, and dealing with a very threatening and powerful man, Phillip Larson. Sophie and Celine Larson, Phillip's nieces, have no idea just how forceful and evil their uncle is, until they end up at the wrong place at the wrong time. This encounter, in the first chapter mind you, leads Aiden, Sophie, and Celine on a chase that none of them saw coming, and made for a compelling read.

I love a good, clean suspense and Plain Refuge delivers. There are moments where you know exactly what's going to happen, and then other moments where there are twists that you don't see coming. There are times where the fear the characters feel grip you, and you are fervently swiping the pages to see what happens next.

I enjoyed the suspense, but what I loved even more than that was the friendships woven into the story. This added a whole other layer of heart to this tale that is really beautiful, and was the most cherishing part of the book, in my opinion.

The characters are wonderful, the setting vivid, and the suspense unrelenting. I caught myself several times saying to myself, "Good gosh! They can't catch a break!" but the ending was pleasing, and I was left smiling and satisfied. It's a quick read, due to the suspense, and one that I highly recommend.

One of the things that you can count on with a Love Inspired Suspense - is that it will be action packed - and you will NOT know what is going to happen next. This is book eight in the Amish Country Justice Series. I have read a few of the other books in the series - but they are all able to be read as a stand alone. I adore this author's writing style. Her stories are always action packed, have original characters and take you on so many twists and turns. Sophie, our main character has been dealt with a lot of heavy blows in her life. She also cares for her younger sister who is deaf.
Adam Steele has been undercover for months. He has been building a case against Sophie's uncle - and Sophie walks in on a conversation that sounds very incriminating. He may have to blow his cover in order to protect her.

This causes a lot of bad stuff to start happening. Can Adam, Sophie and her sister outrun whoever is behind the attacks? Can they get to the bottom if it.

I enjoyed this book - I enjoyed trying to put the clues together.

I received a copy of this book through the JustRead tour blogging program - all thoughts are my own.

This is a bit different from what I usually read. I had read good reviews on this author, however, and decided to take the plunge. And I decidedly enjoyed the plunge :D

This book kept me riveted and spellbound until the very end. I literally began the book after dinner, when all the dishes were washed up, and read until the wee hours of the morning to find out what happened.

Sophie Larson is your everyday, ordinary girl. She's been hit with the loss of half her family, and takes on the care of her younger sister, who's deaf. While on her way out of town, she intercepted an exchange between her creepy uncle and another guy, and Aiden Forester, the undercover good guy, had to step in and intervene.

And what follows next is nothing short of adventurous. Between being shot at, running from the good guys AND the bad guys both, and the kidnapping . . . well, I was pretty much breathless throughout the whole thing.

The romance was on the lighter side. There were a few kisses that were more detailed/lasted longer than I expected, and I kinda skimmed through those. Otherwise, it was an interesting read.

I'd definitely recommend it for older readers, simply because fo the suspense and romantic content =)

*I am thankful to the publisher/author for gifting me a copy of this book to read!

A thrilling fast-paced read, that kept me at the edge of my seat as they try to evade the bad guys who seem to anticipate their every move.

A highly entertaining read, it was a fast read, because I didn't want to put it down. There was a lot going on, as well as very strong character arcs. I loved how Sophie and her sister, Celine, have their relationship challenged and strengthened. There are also strong themes of faith and friendship throughout as their friends take a risk by hiding them.

Aiden is a very duty driven man, who can also be very hard on himself for personal failures. He is great at thinking on his feet, exhausting every option to keep Sophie and Celine safe.

Overall this was a satisfying read, with great characters, high stakes suspense, and well developed relationship growth. Definitely worth the read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An Amish fiction book is what I was expecting when I picked up Plain Refuge. Not a book where the Amish make a small appearance but aren’t the pivotal characters. This book was amazing though so I soon forgot that I was disappointed that the Amish weren’t front and center.

Aiden is amazing as an undercover cop. But is he really undercover or does he just think he is? When he realizes that someone from his office is feeding information directly to the enemy he’s not sure who to trust but he has to protect Sophie and her deaf sister even if that means his life.

Who would have thought he’d be protecting them from their uncle who wants to kill them for what they know?

Can Aiden really keep them safe? When they are rafting rapid and his friend (who is ex-Amish by the way) get shot he’s not sure what to do. But then again he’s not even totally sure of himself thanks to hitting his head on a rock. Add to that that the media has him as a kidnapper and things are getting complicated.

I loved it! It read super fast and kept you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend you give it a read too!

The image of Sophie and her sister in their Amish bonnets is definitely a fun one with their red hair and features. I would have loved to see that a bit more vividly on the cover. The cover really does a good job of the foreboding but not quite on the hair color as it’s a major trademark feature.

Terrific book with intense suspense, nonstop action, and a sweet romance. The story started with a bang and kept the intensity throughout. Aiden is an undercover cop working on getting enough evidence against the man responsible for the death of his partner. He is very close and is ready to be done with it. As he arrives for a meeting with his boss, he sees Philip's niece, Sophie, arrive unexpectedly.

Sophie is early for a meeting with her uncle. He doesn't like changes to his schedule, but she just needs to drop off some papers. Rather than sit around for half an hour, she goes on into the house. She is horrified when she hears her uncle making a weapons deal, and threatening to kill a man. She is discovered before she can make her escape, and one of her uncle's men is told to "take care of her." I could feel Sophie's fear as Aiden forced her back to her car at gunpoint and made her drive. She is terrified that she and her younger sister, Celine, are about to be killed in cold blood. Aiden's frustration was also evident. He was sure he'd blown his cover, but there was no way he could allow the women to die.

The suspense kept me hooked from beginning to end. Sophie is hopeful when she realizes that Aiden is one of the good guys, but her relief is short-lived. Her uncle's men are hot on their trail, and it seems that no matter what they do, they can't escape for long. Even asking for help from Aiden's ex-Amish friend, Levi, doesn't keep them safe for long. It quickly becomes apparent that there is a leak somewhere in the police department, making it difficult for Aiden to know who he can trust. When Aiden is arrested, accused of murder and kidnapping, Sophie and Celine are left unprotected. Aiden's release was one of the lighter moments (gotta love his chief!), but Sophie and Celine are in grave danger. I was on the edge of my seat as Aiden raced to reach them in time. I loved the final confrontation. Sophie kept a clear head and was able to help with her rescue, while Aiden had to bury his emotions to do what had to be done.

I loved the development of the relationship between Sophie and Aiden. Neither was looking for romance. Sophie is still reeling from the deaths of her parents and brother while stepping up to take care of her sister. She feels guilty about putting her career before family and is determined to change her ways. This includes putting Celine first. But Aiden's protectiveness and kindness toward her sister soon break down her walls. Meanwhile, Aiden is blessed? cursed? with an overabundance of protectiveness. When something happens to someone on his watch, he takes it personally. When Sophie meets him, Aiden already feels guilty over not protecting his sister (he was a kid!) or saving his partner. He is determined that nothing will happen to Sophie and Celine. However, he also resists his growing feelings for Sophie, claiming that he isn't good for her. I ached for Sophie, who loved him but couldn't get through to him. Though eventually, something she said did make an impact. I loved the scene with his sister, and the shove she gave him. His big scene with Sophie was terrific. The epilogue was great.

There is a religious component of the book, being a part of the Love Inspired line. What I liked most is that faith was simply an essential part of the characters' lives, not something that the reader needed to be beaten over the head with. Aiden has no problem calling on God for help or guidance. That faith is part of what keeps him from succumbing to the darkness of his secret life. Sophie was at the other end. She lost her faith for a while, especially with the loss of most of her family. But being around Aiden, and the Amish folks who aided them, helped her find her way back.

There wasn't as much Amish involvement in this book as some of the earlier books, but that which was there was good. I especially liked Levi, Aiden's ex-Amish friend. It is unusual to find someone Amish-raised who has served in the military. I loved his willingness to help and how he was all-in. I worried about him during the river scene and its aftereffects. There was a satisfying twist involving him at the end, and I would love to see more about him.

My favorite of all the secondary characters was Celine. Despite her deafness, she is very much an average twelve-year-old. She's glued to her phone, has her rebellious moments, doesn't like change, and is good at pushing Sophie's buttons. But she also holds it together under extremely trying circumstances. I loved her part in the epilogue and seeing her getting back to a normal life.

This is my first book from Dana Lynn and I truly enjoyed it!
It is very fast paced, intense, lots of action, persecution, death danger and a sweet romance in the midst of being on the run!
Aiden Forster is an undecover cop going by the name Adam, who is close to finally getting enough evidence to get Phllip Larson, a very dangerous man, dealing with weapon trafficking and many murders on his account, behind bars. Just when Phillip calls him to do a nasty job, he arrives at his house only to discover that Larson’s nieces are arriving too. A bit too late to warn her, Sophie Larson has entered her uncle’s home and has involuntarily heard of his illegal deals with another man. Adam (Aiden) offers Phillip to “take care”of them, which means killing them, and Sophie’s uncle accepts. So Aiden gets into Sophie’s car, where her deaf sister Celine is, and runs away with them, trying to seek refuge from her uncle. Sophie is terrified, until Aiden blows his undercover and explains who he is. Sophie has one thing in mind, protect her sister, and make up to her after neglecting her when she was so focused on her career, just before her parents and brother died in a terrible accident. Now they are running for their lives, but from their own uncle, her father’s brother! But Aiden vows to keep them safe, and Sophie and her sister begin to believe in him as he proves himself trustworthy.
This is a book of constant action that I couldn’t put down. There’s not a second to breathe as their enemy and his pursuer are always a few steps behind. They ask help from Aiden’s Amish friend, who’s estranged from his Amish community, but helps them get to an Amish county in order to hide from their killers. The suspense is truly intense, this book was a page Turner! And the characters were deep, loveable and relatable. I found myself inspired in their actions. Sophie wanting to do what’s best for her sister, protecting her at all costs. And Aiden, a true hero intent on saving this endearing girls from their evil uncle. So much intensity and staying together will bring out attraction, that as the danger deepens, slowly becomes so much more. But Aiden has his own demons, and he could never be husband material, less with his profession that has his life constantly on the edge. Or does he deserve a chance at his own happiness? Will Sophie convince him to risk his heart and will she risk getting hurt too?
I definitely recommend this book. Other than page turner, and emotionally intense, it has beautiful insights about faith in God, trust in Him, forgiveness and redemption, which I loved.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Plain Refuge. This is book eight in the Amish Country Justice Series. I always enjoy Dana's books. She just gets better and better with each of her intrigues. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Under cover police officer Aiden Forster heads to a meeting his boss called. He arrives early to see the man's niece show up early. Not a good sign! People have died for less than that. Aiden risks his cover to take the niece and her deaf sister away from the uncle who wants Aiden to handle the situation. He can take them somewhere and make it look like he has killed them. A mole in the police force makes it impossible to fool the gun smuggler. Aiden must protect them by hiding them in Amish country.

Sophie Larson comes to take her sister back to Chicago with her after the death of her family. She arrives at her uncle's early to deliver some documents from the lawyer. When she arrives she over hears her uncle talking to one of his men discussing an illegal weapons deal. Uncle Phillip tells Adam Steele to take care of the two girls. She can't believe her uncle would tell one of his men to kill them. Adam (Aiden) tells her he will protect them. Now they are all three running for their lives.

A terrifying journey into the world of illegal weapons, moles, and killers. Can Aiden keep them safe?

God has a plan for them, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. In this time of crisis it's so easy to fall into the trap of fear. Fear ties God's hands and he can't work on your behalf. Give Him your heart and trust Him with all your soul. He will see you through. His plans are for good and not for evil. He will take your upside down world and turn it right side up.

Dana Lynn brings her 8th installment in the Amish Country Justice. For me this was easily a stand alone book since I had not read any of the books in this series. Sophie Larson has been on a path for advancement in her career and has been her complete focus in recent years. Unfortunately a month ago her father, mother, and brother were killed in a home invasion which leaves her the sole guardian of her younger, preteen sister. I immediately liked Sophie. Even though she's grieving she wants to do what's best for her sister. She is dealing with a crisis of faith. She realizes that she when she left for college that she has put all her focus in career and how she can get what she wants. She has left her faith in God behind.
Aiden Foster is a lieutenant in the police department who has been working undercover for 6 months trying to gain evidence against the man who killed his partner. Aiden realizes working with the seedier side of life has started to jade him and he doesn't want to become one of those people who blurs the lines of law. Suddenly, he's faced with a choice of saving an innocent life, Sophie, or walking away. Choice made which puts him on the run for not only his life, but offering protection of innocent lives.
This book hooked me from the first page and kept me turning until after 2 am when I finished the book. It is filled with elements of mystery, edge of your seat suspense, faith, and love. This is a book I would recommend to anyone. *I received this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mystery, adventure, twists and turns are all a part of this new book by Dana R. Lynn and there are also great characters that grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go! Undercover cop Aiden Forster risks his life to protect two sisters who are now the target of their criminal uncle and, before it's over, you can see that Aiden's heart is in serious danger also! Sophie Lawson's love and devotion for her deaf twelve-year-old sister prove that she's finally realized the importance of family and pre-teen Celine doesn't allow her hearing loss to curb her love for life! A deep bond develops between the three of them as they go on the run but will Aiden be able to protect them from the non-ending danger? Is it possible for him to overcome the deep hurts and regrets that are always with him? Can Sophie convince him that they both deserve a life together?

Plain Refuge is a thrilling mystery/suspense story and I loved that Aiden, Sophie, and Celine end up finding shelter with an Amish family near Berlin, Ohio. The fact that Aiden had once saved the life of one of the sons is a surprising twist and it made me want to read the previous Amish Country Justice books to learn more!

Author Dana R. Lynn allowed her very human characters to find comfort and peace through trust and faith in God. If you like romantic suspense and Christian fiction, you will certainly enjoy Plain Refuge!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review and these are my own thoughts.

Sophie Larson stumbles onto an illegal weapons deal orchestrated by none other than her uncle and soon finds herself on the run with her younger sister and an undercover police officer.

Aiden Forster had to blow his cover in order to protect Sophie and Celine Larson from their uncle. Now all of their lives are on the line and someone inside his police department is leaking their whereabouts. Who can they trust?

Aiden, Sophie, and Celine take refuge within Amish country, but will Sophie’s uncle find them there too? Can Aiden and Sophie let down their guard and realize their feelings for each other?

Dana R. Lynn gives her readers another awesome read. The storyline and characters captured my attention from page one. My heart raced along with the characters as they were on the run from her uncle’s gang.

This author delivers every time with each book even stronger than the last. Loved the characters, the twists and turns, and the imagery throughout. Can’t wait for her next book!

I give Plain Refuge five stars. This story will keep you in its vice-grip until the very end!

When Sophie Larson walks into her uncle's home a few minutes early, she never dreamed that one action would put a price on both her head, and her little sister's. Walking in on her uncle discussing an arms deal, was horrifying; being caught by one of his enforcers, was beyond terrifying. How can she get her pre-teen, deaf sister out of this alive.

Adam Steele, aka Aiden Forster, has been undercover in Philip Larson's criminal organization for six months. He's close to having enough evidence to put the man away for life, and convict him of the ambush that killed his partner. When Sophie walks into the middle of a very incriminating conversation, he knows he'll have to blow his cover to protect her.

As Aiden, Sophie and Celine run for their lives, can they stay one step ahead of the people trying to kill them? When it becomes obvious that the police department has a mole who has access to every call for help Aiden makes, will any place be safe?

Wow! This story definitely had all the suspense I could have looked for. Every time I thought the main characters had found a place to rest, guns started blazing, which meant they were off and running again. The fast pace, high drama of the story will suck you in and keep you engaged throughout. I absolutely recommend!!

Sometimes evil is close to home...

With books like Plain Refuge it's definitely easy to see why Dana R. Lynn is one of my favorite Love Inspired Suspense authors. The story starts off with betrayal which soon leads to gunfire and a desperate race to get away from some pretty nasty dudes bent on murder.

The hybrid Amish romantic suspense genre has been a lot of fun to delve into and especially Dana R. Lynn's exciting Amish Country Justice series. I've been hooked from the very beginning and each succeeding book only gets better and better.

Aside from great characters and a riveting storyline, with lots of romantic tension and suspense, I just have to say that one of my favorite parts of the book was the cover. Anyone who has ever ridden a train will recognize the distinctive coloration. Just to whet your appetite a little, that part of the cover hints towards part of the story. Do I have you wanting to read Plain Refuge yet? Good! It's a story you won't want to miss!

This is an amazing adrenaline rush romantic suspense novel!

I love all three of the main characters in this book. Aiden is a rock solid protector. Both Sophie and her younger sister Celine are strong and courageous even though they are filled with well placed fear. They have a number of secondary characters come along side them to help keep them safe.

I loved all of the details that the author gives about cochlear implants. I had heard the term but knew nothing about how they worked.

The plot of the story is fantastic. In the first few pages the reader is thrust into it. The danger then runs throughout the book with only brief moments to build the romantic connection while we all, reader and characters, catch our breath. Then near the end of the book there is a great surprise revelation.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

Plain Refuge by Dana R. Lynn is a great Love Inspired Suspense book. I enjoy Amish genre and suspense genre so to have the two in one story is a real treat. I loved the characters--Sophie, the damsel in distress, is strong and very protective of her preteen sister, Celine, who is profoundly deaf and quite brave, and then the hero, Aiden, undercover cop--he can rescue me anytime! The story moves quickly and is action-packed, easily kept my interest from start to finish. I pretty much read the book in one sitting and am looking forward to more inspirational romance/suspense stories from this author.
I won a complimentary book in a contest and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

Dana Lynn has written another great Amish suspense book that is a not to be missed read!

There were such great characters in this book. Sophie's evil and corrupt Uncle Phillip will stop at nothing to see her and her sweet deaf sister Celine dead after Sophie stumbles upon his illegal activities.

Aiden Forster is deep undercover and comes to help Sophie and Celine escape danger. The Amish country near Berlin, Ohio offers a temporary place of rest and respite.

Action packed tense and danger filled situations and many twists and turns pull you into the book from start to finish.

I enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Sophie and Aiden as well as them learning more about faith and family.

This is the 8th installment in Lynn's Amish Country Justice series. However, each book can be read as a standalone.

Lynn hooks the reader from the first page. I really enjoyed the addition of a character who was deaf. This book is a quick read, as the mystery and action keep the reader engaged. I enjoy solving the mystery along with the characters.

To note, there are a number of English characters, in addition to the Amish ones. The overall pace is just right, and the romance angle is not overwhelming, which was great, as I love the suspense angle in books the best!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive reveiw.
