As some of you know by now, I've always been intrigued by Hypnosis and Self-Hypnosis. I've always wanted to learn more, so when Audible had their sale, I couldn't help but pick up this audiobook for less than $3. This was an interesting book that helped demystify hypnosis and explain a few of the more common hypnotism techniques.
Richard Nongard created a book that could be helpful, but at times I felt like it was an ad for his website. I honestly got so sick of hearing him state, "there are more resources at my website." I also would have preferred to have a different narrator. Some books are great when the author reads them, but this wasn't one of them.
All in all, there was some good information for very basic self-hypnosis. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything you couldn't learn by a basic google search. It was worth the $3 I spent on it, but I won't go out of my way to read something else by the author.
solid intro to self-hypno. best for folks who haven't studied or practiced hypnosis.
for experienced folks, you may find yourself recognizing that you have resources beyond what this book offers, especially when it comes to effective language patterns. it's strange to read a book about hypnosis that ignores well-formed language.
at the very least, though, skip to the last two techniques in the book. while "image streaming" is essentially active imagination, the framework here provides some helpful structure. and the "light switch method" might be familiar to some, but i'd not heard of it before this book.
still, good for folks just starting out, though i recommend rapidly increasing your knowledge base if this is something you'd like to pursue. these techniques will give you a good foundation, but there's stuff out there that's WAY more fun.
This book can be summed up in two words... actionable and do-able. The good doctor really leaves you with practical exercises you can use to bring anything from slight to life changing results. In fact one of the exercises is so simple and short, you'll feel foolish for not at least trying. No foofoo airy fairy talk. Just pure practical gems of professional experience I highly recommend it.
The subject was reduced to a bare bones approach but its simplicity is the best feature because if gives you enough information to give you a taste of self hypnosis ghat will lead you to further learning on this subject. Self hypnosis has been a great skill in my life it helped me to quit smoking become mindful and to recover quicker after knee replacement surgery. I would recommend this for anybody curious about self hypnosis.
I like that he offers a few techniques, you can choose whatever one best suits you, or a combination of a few. I am using these techniques in my daily life and have noticed a big difference. Better than most meditation techniques, with a much better impact! Like everything, practice is key, the more you do it, the easier it becomes!
I got nothing out of this book. It embodies the worst of the self help genre, name dropping of celebrities, personal anecdotes, complete lack of evidence and no meat to glom onto. In a book like this the techniques, the 'what to do' are the meat and potatoes. It has nothing else. The meat in this case is absent. The 7 techniques include almost nothing of any substance.
Very good book about self hypnosis. This book is like a sandwich with more bread (filler) than needed. The techniques are very good and they work. The author could've made the book a little shorter and just as effective. An easy hour and a half read.
A really enlightening read. I do agree that practice, practice and practice is what is needed. Mindfulness is also a good part of this practice. The more you do it the easier it becomes.
I have been able to hypnotize myself. However, I usually fall asleep during my session. I just need more practice or a pre-recorded session on tape to keep me in a relaxed state without falling asleep.
El libro se lee super rapido esta muy biem explicado pero me parece una condensación de las tecnicas ya mencionadas en autores del pasado como Neville Goddard, Napoleon Hill, etc
Very well organized and written. Each chapter can be taken on its own, but the book builds on each technique. All positive attitude and encouraging throughout.
