Runaway #1

Runaway Road

Rate this book
Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.

Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.

Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

Oh my heart!!! This book is everything wonderful and amazing! It has all the feels I could ask for and some I didn’t even know existed. Sigh. Runaway Road was exactly what I was looking for, and I didn’t even know it.

When Londyn leaves Boston behind, she’s got the whole world at her fingertips. She’s traveling across the nation with a sense of freedom she hasn’t felt in years, if ever. But when an unexpected accident lands her in Summers, West Virginia and in the company of sexy mechanic, Brooks Cohen, what felt like freedom might have been something else entirely.

’Passion and anticipation coated each minute I spent with Brooks like warm chocolate on vanilla bean ice cream. It took every second to the next, delicious level.’

Wow, I loved Londyn. Usually, I’m all about the hero of the story but Londyn captured my heart from the very beginning. The more I learned about her, the more I not only hurt for her past, but respected her for what she had made out of her life. The crossroads she is currently stranded at is one I could have easily decided, but Londyn has a lifetime of lessons that make it difficult to take the most obvious road.

Brooks was exceptional! He’s the hero that takes care of his family, is a loyal and trustworthy friend and despite his own pain, determined to allow Londyn to do what is necessary for her own happiness. I loved how laid back he was with a sense of humor that had me smiling. But never has a hero been able to bring me to tears as Brooks did with such a simple gesture.

’She’d blown into town and made me realize the hole in my life. The hole in the exact shape of a five-foot-five blond woman with jade-green eyes.’

COMO SER BOA DE CAMA !

Man, this book broke my heart in so many ways before healing it in the sweetest, gentlest manner. This author had me sobbing with grief one moment and crying with happiness the next. Shorter in length than her usual books, this never felt short-changed. Each character was richly developed, the plot well devised, and the epilogue pure perfection.

What a wild ride down an emotional highway this read turned out to be!

Runaway Road was such a strong start to this new series by Devney Perry. I love road trip type books, but this wasn’t your typical road trip story. I loved the small town aspect and the fact that even though Brooks and Londyn were different, they had a lot in common. I’m looking forward to continuing on!

“I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again.“

This was an unexpected surprise in the best way a story can be.

I picked it up since there’s a readalong happening for this series and since I owned the first two books, I just decided to give it a try. And once I started, I could not stop.

Devney Perry is a wizard.

You know that feeling that settles within you when you read a story that completely works for you? It’s calming, comforting. Soothing. It feels like a balm to your soul. And not because you find it relatable, but just because you’re captivated by the storytelling and the characters and every part of their world that you’re being exposed to.

I was so at ease reading this book.

We follow Londyn, who’s had it pretty rough for a while. After her husband cheated on her, she decides to leave town after realising how much she’s lost herself in her marriage and her trauma. She wants to find herself again, as well as a place to call home.

On her way out of town, her car breaks down and we’re introduced to Brooks, our love interest. She decides to stay in his small town till the car gets fixed and the story takes off from there.

I had an issue with something that happened towards the end of the book, but it’s so insignificant in comparison to the feeling that this story gave me that it isn’t worth bringing up.

I adored every moment I spend reading this and I desperately need more Devney Perry in my life now.

Well, you know you have read a good book when you literally devour it in one afternoon! Devney Perry has been teasing us about this new series and the premise of these books sounded so good. I am happy to say she did not disappoint with the first installment! In Runaway Road we start getting to know six kids (now adults) who run away from home and share a bond after suffering difficult childhoods. This is the first story.

So, Runaway Road is, as I said, Devney’s new release and it’s the first book in her new Runaway series focused on six people searching for freedom and love. This is Londyn McCormack’s story. She is recently divorced and she needs to find herself again after losing who she was after getting married to a wealthy older man. She decides to leave everything behind and road trip to California to find her childhood junkyard friends. But a flat tire will chance her journey forever, especially after she meets Brooks Cohen. Will she run away again?

I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again.

I am a sucker for Devney Perry’s stories. I fell in love with her writing a while ago and I was so excited for this new series. Of course, Devney did not fail and managed to make me fall in love with these new characters in a heartbeat. Londyn is finding herself again and it was beautiful to read that. She is a strong woman and her experience in this West Virginia small town changes her life forever. That together with meeting swoony, sweet Brooks. Gah! Devney surely knows how to create an outstanding hero!

“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too.
“I’ll remember you until the end, Londyn.” Brooks ran his knuckles along my cheek, leaving a trail of sparks on my skin. “Until the end.”

I loved Brooks, how protective and caring he is. The man is just lovable from head to toe! I loved the slow burn chemistry between him and Londyn, the high emotions and all their moments together. The romanticism is high in Runaway Road and I loved it! These characters are so unique and I loved every single one. And this couple, of course! The chemistry between them was to die for and that mixed with the feels, the secondary characters and that bit of drama, made this book a wonderful read for me.

The next time she wanted to leave and find a new adventure, she’d have company.
We’d drive that runaway road together.

Therefore, I am rating Runaway Road with 4.5 STARS because it was the best way to start the Runaway series, perfect to leave you hungry for more of these characters and their journey’s to love and happiness. I loved the slow burn, the sweetness and this amazing couple. Londyn and Brooks are so adorable together and I cannot wait to read the rest of the stories after getting to know the other runaways. Gemma is next and I need her book now!

There was something fresh about her. Maybe it was her outlook on life or her spirit. Maybe it was that she had gone through so much and she hadn’t become jaded or cynical. Londyn intrigued me. She stirred my blood.

My heart feels so full right now. This book. GUYS. I just can't. A lighthearted, feel-good romance full of swoons and feels. I devoured this book in one sitting. I kid you not. I sat down, opened my kindle, blinked, and I was already at 80%.
The wind whipped through my hair as I sped along the highway.
Just me and my cherry-red Cadillac.
On a runaway road.

I don't think there was one thing I didn't love about this story. The sweet and swoony hero. The slightly damaged but not broken heroine. The charming small town setting. The wonderfully vivid secondary characters. And the romance! OMG the romance! It was one of those things that just sneaks up on you. It wasn't loud. It wasn't angsty. It wasn't quick and mighty. It was a beautiful slow burn full of emotion and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Londyn McCormack thought she had everything she needed. A runaway teen that learned to survive on the streets, she married a rich husband and quickly lost herself. Now divorced, she yearns to move on and find herself. So she leaves her old life and her best friend behind to drive to California to find an old friend, but along the way things get complicated. A flat tire lands her in a sleepy small town where she meets a man that changes everything.

Brooks Cohen is one of the most swooniest heroes I've read in a long while. He's sweet, caring, and patient. He's everything that Londyn needs and nothing she thought she wanted. He's unexpected but the chemistry between them is undeniable. They slowly get to know one another during casual dinners by the lake and it's not long before they each weave their way into each other's hearts.

I cannot gush enough about this story. I fell hard and fast for these characters and the premise of the series. A group of teen runaways that find themselves to happiness as adults? Yes, please and thank you! If you're looking for an easy and light-hearted read that full of depth and emotion, this book is not to be missed.

This story is showing lighter side of Miss Perry. This book is perfect for road trip where you just want to shout FREE!!

The concept of the story is simple. I am always a fan of Miss Perry' books. The story is min angst/ drama. Smooth like a highway. The characters are not develop so much but enough to maintain the chemistry. While listening to the audiobook,I can feel the sun and the wind blowing to my face.

Miss Perry done a good job bringing road trip aspect to life. Overall this is an OK read.

5 “I feel it deep” stars!

This maybe my fave Devney book yet. So fresh & different! I absolutely loved the heroine, Londyn! She was so used to running away as an escape mechanism until she couldn’t run anymore. Real, abiding, long lasting love smacked her in the face in such a short time! I love Brooks with a passion. Loved that this was a slight age gap (10 years). It had everything this girl needed, and I am VERY happy! Can’t wait for Gemma’s story!

This was a cute romance! It definitely read more as a novella with how short it was, so some scenes were skipped over that I would have loved to see actually played out. Because it was so short, the romance did feel a bit insta-love because they only knew each other for two weeks. The heroine caught her husband cheating, so she jumps in her car and is going to drive it across country to where she grew up in a junkyard as a teenager after she ran away from home. The romance was cute and I did enjoy the emotional journey the hero and heroine went on. I do wish a few plot points were fleshed out a little more and not as rushed, but overall I enjoyed this small town romance where the heroine gets stranded and falls for the hot mechanic who shows up to tow her car!

"The wind whipped through my hair as I sped along the highway. Just me and my cherry-red Cadillac. On a runaway road"

Such a sweet small town romance. I loved this book , I loves the premise , the characters, the setting and the red cherry Cadillac.

This is a journey of self-discovery, of finding the place where you belong , this happening in a very unexpected way.
Londyn travels from Boston to California after a brutal divorce, she comes from a junkyard where she lived with other 5 kids. They all spread all over the country in the past 8 years, and now she wants to find one of them to give him back the Cadillac they used together in the past.
On her way there , her car gets broken in the small town Summers. Help comes from handsome Brooks Cohen , the town mechanic .
The car takes more than expected to get fix , and they spend 2 week together and fall in love.

Great love story!!

“Promise me if you ever need anything—a friend, a place to crash for a week, a piece of pie—you’ll use that phone and call me.”

Characters
Brooks (33 owner, Cohen Garage):
The following words/phrases were used to describe Brooks: mature, confident, sexy, gentleman, protector, kind, generous, loving, stunning

Three things about Brooks:
- After 16 years, he still has dinner with his parents every Monday night.
- Comes from a close-knit, loving family
- He has a teenage son

Some quotes about Brooks:
“He was the corner to a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle that created one stunning picture.”

This stunning, bold man saw me for who I was, not who I’d been pretending to be.”

Londyn (29):
The following words/phrases were used to describe Londyn: gorgeous, searching, betrayed, strong

Three things about Londyn:
- Recently divorced and ready to leave behind her stuffy, stifling, wealthy existence
- Her pride and joy is a fully restored 1964 Cadillac DeVille convertible that she and a few other homeless kids used to live in
- Her parents were junkies and she ran away from home when she was 16

Some quotes about Londyn:
“My divorce had been brutal and heartbreaking. It had been the nuclear bomb to my life I’d needed. It was forcing a fresh start.”

“As a kid, I’d run away to be safe.
Now, I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again.”

“That junkyard became my home for two years. Eventually, six of us lived there. That Cadillac? That’s where I lived. I slept in the backseat.”

"When I was working, running the house or organizing a function for Thomas’s company, I didn’t have time to think about the last time I’d truly smiled or laughed carefree.”

My Thoughts:
The following are my thoughts about this book:
- I loved the heroine’s name/spelling
- I was raised in a small town, so small town stories warm my heart ❣The small town, meddlesome characters usually make me chuckle.
- I liked that they were so comfortable and honest with each other as they were getting to know each other. It was a good foundation.
- Pie for dinner......good choice. Yum!
- Londyn and Brooks just seemed to get each other and their time together was enjoyable. There wasn't a ton of drama with them and I liked that. “It never took much explaining with Brooks. He knew how I felt even if I couldn’t articulate it.”
- Goodbye.....awww. “I wished you would come with me. I can tell you that because I know it won’t come true. But I wished it anyway.” His other hand came to his heart, his eyes clouded with sadness. “In a different life, I’d drive around the world with you in that Cadillac.”
- Londyn's childhood...sad 😔 “Dad’s eyes had been glassy when they’d met mine. He’d stared at me for a long minute, tilting his head to the side. Was it regret I’d seen in his gaze that day? Or confusion? I’d never know. For a moment, I’d thought maybe he’d put the needle down. Instead, he’d muttered, “Shut the door, Londyn.”
I liked that even though Londyn had a crappy childhood, she didn't have a crappy attitude. She was definitely not a "woah is me" type of heroine 👍
- The culprit.... No way. I didn't buy into it. Too out of character.
- I can't wait to read the stories of the other junkyard kids. I'm already invested in their lives and am hoping for fantastic HEA's for all of them. Fingers crossed 🤞😬
- This story was the perfect length for me. Just long enough to weave a good story, but not too long that I felt like I got mired down in unnecessary details. This author is usually a hit for me and this book was no exception. Although, I did knock a star off for the unbelievable twist.

Overall:
———————————————
- POV: dual POV
- Tropes: insta love (2 weeks), single dad, bad childhood (drug addicted parents)
- H likable? Yes
- h likable? Yes
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 43%
- First time they sleep together: 59%
- steamy? Yes
- OW/OM drama? a little bit with the ex-husband and ex-wife. But not a huge deal
- H/h cheat? No
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No. They were pretty honest with each other.
- Did I cry? No, but it was sad as they said goodbye
- Did I laugh? not really.
- Cliffhanger? no
- Epilogue? one year later
- Recommend? yea

Quotes
“I had no experience with tow truck drivers but surely this wasn’t what they all looked like. Otherwise the women of the world would be constantly popping their tires.”

“for me, a good man was as elusive as presents on Christmas morning.”

“Passion and anticipation coated each minute I spent with Brooks like warm chocolate on vanilla bean ice cream. It took every second to the next, delicious level.”

“Why do people think that just because I’m standing outside and they’re sitting inside behind a window, we can’t see them?”

“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too.
“I’ll remember you until the end, Londyn.”

“Running away was how Londyn stayed in control. It was her protection mechanism”

“tell Karson thanks.”
"Thanks for what?”
“For leading me home.”

“The only person who could guide me back to me was myself.”

Runaway Road is my very first Devney Perry novel and holy moly, did it knock me for a loop. Straight away, Perry's lush writing style and captivating storytelling sucked me in and had me devouring these pages hungrily. I absolutely COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! This beautifully immersive story follows Londyn, a woman running from old heartache toward a new life when her course is unexpectedly derailed by what I can only describe as fate. What unfolds is a story rich with romance and personal revelations and it held me blissfully ensnared from cover to cover.

Brooks Cohen is just... well, he's something else,  that's all I can say. He's everything you'd hope to find in a small town romance, a hero who consistently shows up when life hits road bumps (both literally and figuratively, as it turns out!) He's the epitome of a swoony, sexy leading man and I LOVED the hell out of him. Together, he and Londyn make for a story that is rich with palpable chemistry, fierce attraction, and the achingly somber tick of a clock marking the end of their whirlwind romance.

Runaway Road was just TOO GOOD. I was CONSUMED by every facet of this love story. It's seamlessly layered with intriguing backstory and colorful characters, engrossing romance and a touch of suspense, all woven together superbly and set against the sultry backdrop of a small West Virginia town. This is very much Londyn's story of finding everything she didn't know she was searching for in the most unexpected place. It's the story of her life truly coming full circle, a journey that ultimately brings her exactly where she was always meant to be while also unearthing all the deepest parts of herself she'd yet to figure out. It's perfectly peppered with humor and flirty banter, steamy scenes and unforgettably romantic moments. It's the full package swathed in such exquisite writing. I loooooved this book, every bit of it, and I'm thrilled to set off on my own journey through Devney Perry's backlist because I'm officially HOOKED! I can't recommend this book highly enough. I enjoyed it so so much!

Spoilers ahead

Londyn ran away from home and eventually ended up crashing at a junkyard with other runaways. She left, worked and then met and married her wealthy husband. From there her life turned around, she got an education, never had to worry about a place to sleep or a job .....until she walked in on her husband cheating. Six months later she's done with Boston, she jumps into the Cadillac she once slept in and set off on a road trip with her eventual destination being to find her boyfriend from her youth who helped save them all. A flat tire however leads her to Summers and Brooks Cohen.

Brooks has had a good life, though a teen pregnancy changed the course of his life he's contented with his lot....until he meets Londyn and he realises he's been missing something...but Londyn is only passing through and though Brooks is sure there's something special between them she's determined to continue her journey...... if only the person who's been vandalizing her Cadillac would stop

******
This was a quick low angst read that I had hoped would've gone a little bit differently in terms of Londyn coming into her own but it was still a good read. I'm interested in seeing what happened to the other kids

The perpetrator of the vandalism surprised me and with how serious it turned out I'm not sure the punishment suited the crime

No cheating
OM drama slightly as her ex made a very brief appearance
OW drama slightly as his ex was a known crazo so he assumed she'd been vandalizing the car but it wasn't her

ALL THE STARS!

Pics-Art-02-17-02-53-34

Omg you guys!! Runaway Road by Devney Perry is probably my favorite from her to date!! It was so wonderful. Just what my heart needed and it warmed my soul completely.

The story starts off with Londyn McCormack. She just went through a divorce and she decides to leave Boston behind her. She jumps into her cherry-red '64 Cadillac convertible and hits the road. In search of herself as she makes her way to California to find an old friend.

Londyn has been running most of her life. But destiny or fate has other plans. She ends up stranded in Summers, West Virginia where she instantly falls for the small town, the people, and the sexy mechanic who towed her car after an unexpected accident.

Brooks Cohen is the epitome of the perfect gentleman. It was hard to not swoon over him. He's transfixed by Londyn's beauty and spirit. He can't seem to shake these feelings and soon the more time they spend together the more deep things get.

Oh, the banter! It was so playful and sexy. Their love slowly bloomed while sharing dinners on a rock overlooking a lake. And let's not forget those moments spent on his boat. But Londyn is a runner. Will she leave Brooks behind or will she finally find her permanent home?

“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too. “I’ll remember you until the end , Londyn.” Brooks ran his knuckles along my cheek, leaving a trail of sparks on my skin. “Until the end.” I rose up and fused our mouths, giving him everything I had and trusting him with all my broken pieces.

All in all, Runaway Road was such a heartfelt, fast read with just the right amount of angst and a dash of suspense. You will not get enough of these characters. Everything about this series will captivate your heart. Also, get ready for Gemma's story next!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! Here is a little something about me, I love a story of redemption and when it's a woman that was scorned by a dipshit of a man, it's even better. I adored every single word, tension filled moment, all things Brooks, and I want a rock to share my dinner on, RIGHT NOW. It's funny, I have been with my hubs for 25+ years and he is my best friend and partner BUT these stories fill me with hope; hope that if he loses his damn mind and gets himself in a compromising position I will find me a Brooks. Even if this is completely false, it fills my heart. So...I read. And wait. LOLOL

As always Devney Perry brings it all in this story of heartbreak, strength, friendship, recovering ones self, and family. All the feels. Totally recommend it. Ready for the next road trip. xo

‘My divorce had been brutal and heartbreaking. It had been the nuclear bomb to my life I’d needed. It was forcing a fresh start. Besides, I was good at starting over. I’d done it countless times in my twenty-nine years.’

Runaway Road by Devney Perry was a beautiful, sweet and well-written story about letting go and finding yourself. Realising what’s important and learning from the past. Embracing love. Devney Perry is one of those wonderful Authors where we pretty much know what we’re going to get when we pick up one of her books; a really wonderful and enjoyable read. This is the first book in a new series and it began ever so sweetly in this light-hearted romantic swoony read. We really enjoyed Londyn and Brooks’ story of second chances which was quite the quick and lovely read.

‘Loyalty wasn’t a common theme in my life. I hadn’t had it from my parents or the strangers who’d drifted in and out over the years…’

Londyn is used to running since her childhood and once again finds herself in a situation of needing to escape. She packs up everything she owns and drives off with a specific destination in mind. On the way, circumstances see her ending up in a motel in the small town of Summers. She would’ve never guessed that running from heartbreak could lead straight into the arms of love and happiness. Loyalty, protection and love can be found in the most surprising of places and under the strangest of situations, and once found, needs grabbing by the scruff of the neck. Finding Brooks was a surprise; a wonderfully loving, funny and sweet man. Their attraction instantaneous, their love a slow build beautiful romance. Devney Perry really does excel at writing gorgeous small-town romances, with endearing characters and just the perfect amount of heat and passion. Adorable and swoon-worthy, Runaway Road is perfect for all our fellow hopeless romantics out there!

‘My hand pressed against my heart. She was stealing it, little by little.’

What a wondrous journey of self discovery, this story is. I wish I had the guts to do it, maybe I'd have found myself sooner.
"Now, I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again. I’d lost me these past years."
London McCormack packs her belongings in two suitcases and a duffle bag, gasses up her 1964 Red Cadillac DeVille Convertible, which she's restored from a junkyard and was her old familiar home and bids goodbye to her old life with Thomas in Boston
"Just me and my cherry-red Cadillac. On a runaway road. "

description

On the way to California, this road that she takes, brings her into a tiny place called summers in West Virginia, into the garage of Brooks Cohen. Call it fate, call it serendipity or call it chance encounter, the end sum of the sequence of events that precede is- they meet and fall and keep falling

description

There's marked differences in their lifestyles and vocations.
He's deeply rooted tree in his backyard, she's a leaf fluttering in the wind
His tied to his ancestral home and job, she's direction less except for a short term goal
He can't leave and she can't stay.
He has trouble saying yes, she has no trouble saying NO!!
"Maybe he would forget me. Maybe time would dull his memories or disease would steal them away. But I hoped this kiss would remain."
Devney puts a Jinx on the budding connection right from the start.
"East is East and West is West.
Never the Twain shall meet"

description

Whoever wrote this had obviously not accounted for Fated Love, it's power can move mountains, carve new path and force traveller's to take the road less traveled, a.k.a NOT the Interstate!!
Devney is sensitive in her writing and she has treated this feel- good story with tenderness.
A whole lot of heart with serene moments make up this old-world gentlemanly-charm tale about Runaway life of a sixteen year old girl on the road to happiness ever after!
5 stars for picnic on the rock!

Small Town | Contemporary Romance

Here we have another winner from Devney Perry! It's really no surprise that I loved this book. I've been reading her books since she published her first one and haven't been able to stop since. There's just something about her worlds that always puts a smile on my face, and this is no different with Runaway Road. While I did find myself missing the Montana scene, I think Devney can write her characters into any setting and still make it feel like home. Here, you'll be transported to a small town in West Virginia, one that you could easily picture yourself settling down in.

One of the things I love most about Devney Perry’s books are her strong and independent heroines. Londyn McCormack, the lady of the hour in this novel, is a force to be reckoned with. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and that includes her cheating ex husband who was having a fling with his assistant. This, while a horrible thing to do to someone, is certainly the driving force in her personal rediscovery that takes to her a place she didn’t know she could call home. It also drove into the arms of a man any woman would be lucky to call their own.

Brooks Cohen is a kindhearted and trustworthy man. Not thinking he would ever be able to find love thanks to his crazy ex-wife; he finds himself shocked that the one woman he knows he needs is the stranger who swept into his town with a flat tire. Unfortunately, two crazy exes (his and hers) are causing problems between this new relationship, and it could mean the end of them before it even has a chance to begin. What will happen with these two? Well, that’s up to the reader to find out in Devney’s wonderful new book!

Obviously, I loved this novel (hence a 5-star rating) and I am over the moon to know that there are more characters who will be getting their own stories! You hear about them in this book but don’t know anything else about them and I can’t wait to see what they are all about! So, make sure to pick up this one as it’s not only a perfect romance, but has the potential to be a perfect series!

“I was running away to find peace. To find the life I needed deep in my soul. To find myself again.”

Devney Perry kicks off an exciting new series with the story of a woman who, following a painful divorce, sets off on a cross-country road trip, chasing the one thing she lost along the way—herself. It’s a fresh, sizzling, deeply satisfying read that once more solidified my love for Perry’s brand of storytelling, delivering everything I always know I’ll find in her books—emotion, intensity, great chemistry between the characters, and a heroine who is determined to live life on her own terms.

Devney Perry has done it again, Runaway Road is a wonderful start to what will be another great series.

Londyn’s journey in the Cadillac was a voyage of discovery, who knew a flat tyre could lead to so much happiness.

I loved everything about Londyn and Brooks, they are a great match for each other, and the town of Summers sounds so idyllic.

As I have read all of Devney’s books, I knew who the culprit was, I guess are minds are synced after all this time, what I also enjoy about Devney’s writing style is that she does not drag out her sex scenes, they are hot but she does not go into every single detail like other authors can, as this can bore me and make me skim.

Overall, this is an enjoyable escape from RL and let's face it we need this at the moment, and I am excited for Wild Highway, the second book and hopeful that in the near future meeting Karson.

Divorced and finally free Londyn leaves Boston behind, traveling across the US in her fabulously restored Cadillac. An unexpected accident with her car has her landing in Summers, West Virginia. Here she meets sexy mechanic - Brooks Cohen. Their attraction is instant and friendship quick, but Londyn is determined to leave as soon as her car is fixed.

The dual POV works well, this was a nice and easy read.

The perpetrator of the vandalism surprised me and had me rolling my eyes.

An enjoyable light summer read, super low angst.

This is my second time reading Devney Perry and I am quickly learning why she is a favourite among romance readers. Her writing style and her storytelling held me captive from start to finish. I devoured this book in two sittings. It would have been one if sleep didn’t prove more powerful than my need to learn how the story would unfold.

Runaway Road introduces the reader to Londyn a woman has been through a lot. Because of an unideal home situation, she ran away at age 16. She spent five years living on the streets and parenting herself. At age 22 she married into money. She thought she found what she had been searching for, but she would discover that material possessions don’t equate to love and happiness. Divorced, after being trapped for seven years in a loveless and emotionless marriage, she took to the road once again hoping to find herself and gain control of her life. While on her journey she met Brooks Cohen, a meeting which would change her life in ways she least expected.

I found Brooks to be an exceptional character. Here we have a family-oriented guy, who is also a loyal friend. He had his share of issues, but nothing compared to what Londyn had faced. I loved his willingness to sacrifice his happiness for Londyn, a true demonstration of his love her. Protective to the core, charming, kind and the perfect gentleman.

Readers can’t help but fall in love with Londyn. Having endured so much negative incidents in her life, one would expect her to be an angry and self-destructive individual. However, she proved to be the opposite. Strong, independent, determined and selfless. She wasn’t perfect by far as issues from her past would sometimes rear its ugly head and have her questioning the happiness she found with Brooks.

The author created a wonderful, heart-warming story, which allowed the reader the opportunity to follow Londyn on her journey of self-discovery. Watching her find the one thing that had been missing from her life (love), proved to be a delightful experience. I thought both she and Brooks were perfect together, despite their differences. They complemented each other. I enjoyed the flirty moments, the sweet and steamy romantic moments and the sprinkling of humour. The small-town setting enhanced the experience of watching them fall in love.

There was a hint of mystery, which when the outcome came to light came as no surprise. I thought the motive behind it was sweet despite the danger involved. I was happy to see it worked out well.

Runaway Road is a story of self-discovery and finding love at the most unexpected time in the most unexpected of places.

Conclusion/Recommendation
If you enjoy angst free romance in a small-town setting, then Runaway Road is the perfect escape.

I really liked this sweet story! I’m always such a huge sucker for small town romance, and this did not disappoint. We meet Londyn when she’s embarking on a life changing road trip. Running away from her toxic ex-husband who cheated on her in the most cliched way ever. Billionaire and secretary. Woof…Londyn knows her worth!

But the road trip doesn’t get very far…she gets a flat tire and ends up stranded in Summers, West Virginia. A farrrr cry from her destination of California. And when she meets the handsome Brooks, the mechanic who works on her car, she definitely sees the potential of this sweet little town. Brooks…I love him! So honest and earnest! When someone keeps vandalizing his efforts to repair her car, we get a little mystery in the mix as well!

This was a sweet, relatively quick read and while I missed the complexity of a more detailed story, and wanted more declarations between the two of them instead of the fade to black ending with a super quick epilogue, I really enjoyed it.

This was such a short but well rounded read. We follow our female character, Londyn, who is newly divorced after she found her husband cheating on her going on a road trip from Boston to California. When she is forced to stop in this small town in West Virgina, she meets Brooks. They have only a couple of days together but their chemistry is INTENSE. I actually loved the development of Londyn. While this was short, it was really enjoyable. It gives you a good taste of Devney Perry’s writing!

WOW! This was a really amazing story. Londyn has always ran from any problems in her life, and now is no different. With a mission, she leaves her life and sets out on a road trip. She is such a real and authentic character; I think that readers will be able to relate with her and her issues. Brooks is such a gentleman. He is sweet, considerate and has manners. With a lot of heroes in other stories, it seems that they come off jerkish, but not with this amazing man. He is just what Londyn needs but feels she doesn’t deserve. He just needs a woman that loves him and doesn’t demand too much. Everything about this story, from the way that Londyn grew up to Brooks and his issues, is so easily relatable. Watching these two discover their true selves, as well as each other was a true pleasure to read. This is the first book of Devney Perry’s that I have read, but I can tell you that it will not be the last!

Another fabulous story from Devney Perry. Once again, she leaves me with a smile on my face and a happy heart. "Runaway Road" was a joy ride -- complete with a strong and wild spirited heroine and a handsome and big-hearted hero. I loved the combination and their story. Londyn ("with a Y") and Brooks have the type of love that proves there's no defense to a love that is destined.

In small town USA, you'll always find the best and the worst and, of course, everyone knows everyone else's business, the best diners and homemade pie. You'll find a bit of angst and crazy exes, mixed with a little mystery and a whole lotta laughs and good times. And, of course, all the special little touches and feel-goods that Perry can always be counted on to supply.

I couldn't put the book down. An emotional journey and a touching love story all rolled into a satisfying read. If you're looking for an easy, fun-to-read story with a pot of gold at the end, this one's for you!
