Welcome to Aurora Falls. Home of platter-sized pancakes, the Northern Lights, and... a lake full of finned immortal warriors in search of their mates. This mountain getaway is full of sexy shimmering secrets just waiting to be revealed...

Latham Bjornson never felt as if he belonged. His mother may be from this era, but his father’s from a different time. Growing up, he always felt torn between the two worlds. It was the biggest reason he chose to join the military and take to the sky. He wanted to be far away from the cursed lake—and the confusion that dogged his every waking moment.
Every month during the full moon, the cursed ones have a chance to search for true love. Astrid Erickson long grew tired of returning to the lake feeling defeated. A decade goes by between each visit now. Then a stranger points out her mark, and she doesn’t know what to believe. She's been fooled before and has trouble believing it's true. She can't survive another heartbreak.
But for Latham, everything makes sense now. He’s found his purpose even if Astrid doesn't believe it. Can he prove to her that they’re meant to be together? Or will she keep hiding behind her heavily guarded walls?

Scorned Love and True Love

When raiders came across a land, they looked to pillage all of its treasures. Little did they know the land was very much alive, and was watching. She falls in love with one of them men, but when she is scorned she places a cruse on all of them to never be able to leave again until they find their true loves.

We actually get background on why a curse was placed on a group rather than a few little sentences simplifying it. We get a full back story and get to understand what happened. And then we meet one of cursed people, trying to find her true love and all but giving up until it finally happens. The story went from heartbreak and a woman scorned, to true love and happiness very quickly.

I only had an issue with how the book was set up. We got two different stories in one, but both were so short and could have been much longer. Each story could have been its own book and we would have gotten more detail and to know more about our characters.

Latham and Astrid is a good story. Latham grow up knowing about mermate and the curse of the lake. While Astrid is a mermaid with a warrior heart. She doesn’t trust no one because of so much betrayed she had in the past. When Latham see Astrid mark he knows she is his mate. But now he has show Astrid she can trust him and that they are truly mate. A. R Hall does a fantastic job bring the characters to life. She takes us on the they all the ups and downs as they found their HEA. A. R. Hall does amazing job writing the storyline for Mark Of The Valkyrie. Overall a wonderful book. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone to read.
