A hardened lawman fighting the betrayal of the woman he loved.
The female agent who couldn’t rid him from her heart.

Storm Summit, Book Fourteen, Redemption Mountain Historical Western Romance Series
Chandler Evans made the decision years ago to turn his back on a privileged life in New York to follow his older brother, Gabe, to the frontier. He didn’t regret the decision to become a Texas Ranger, only the choices which went with it. His first mistake had been to accept a government agent as a partner. The second was to fall in love with a woman incapable of returning his emotions.

Agent Elizabeth Cartman became a widow much too young. Guilt plagued her, especially when feelings for a young Texas Ranger grew too strong to ignore. Retreat had been her lone option, running from her feelings easier than facing them. She never expected to see him again, but fate had other ideas.

Handing in his badge and riding north, Chan followed a precarious path to Splendor. Settling in as a U.S. Marshal, he obeyed a summons to Big Pine, finding himself face-to-face with the one woman he hoped had disappeared from his life forever.

Refusing the new assignment would achieve nothing, especially when a routine investigation turned to a game of life and death.

The hunters become the hunted, while the identity of the threat continues to elude them. As their mutual attraction grows, rekindling what they’d lost years before, they find themselves facing direct attacks to them and those they care about.

Can two fiercely independent people find a way to accept their love while fighting those intent on driving them apart by any means necessary?

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is another riveting story by Shirleen Davis. This book is from her “Redemption Mountain” Series. Even though this is the 14th book in the series, Storm Summit can very easily be read as a stand-alone.

Chandler Evans is moves to the frontier to be with his older brother, Gabe. He discovers that Gabe is a lawman in a frontier town. So, Chan becomes the U.S. Marshall in Splendor.

In the past, Chan had partnered with Government Agent Elizabeth Cartman. He fell in love with her. Unfortunately, Elizabeth is a widow, who felt disloyal to her late husband. Therefore, when Chan professes his love to her, she retreats leaving a short terse note.

Elizabeth realizes that she made a mistake by leaving as she did. She discovers that she is in love with Chan and has always loved him. She hopes that when she sees him again that she can “reignite the flame” and get back together with him.

Chan still loves Elizabeth. However he is still angry and bitter and refuses to forgive or even trust her.

Now, the two lawmen are forced to work together to stop a counterfeit ring. This ring seems to have an arm that is working out of Splendor.

Shirleen Davies skillfully uses her imagination to come up with an intricate plot that is difficult for the lawmen and the readers to figure out. There are many false interesting and frustrating, starts and obstacles to hinder their investigation.

The romance between Elizabeth and Chan is enthralling. They both want to be together, except they are afraid to reveal their feelings for fear of being rejected. Therefore, they are constantly misreading and misunderstanding what the other one says and does.

This is an exciting book with lots of action and intrigue, and a fascinating love story, that kept me glued to this book.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This instalment focuses on Chandler Evans, current U.S. Marshal and part time rancher. He along with his brother Gave (Sheriff of Splendour) decided years ago to turn their backs on a privileged life in New York. He originally became a Texas Ranger, but after finding his brother in Splendour, he took on the role of U.S. Marshal. Two years previously as part of his job as a Texas Ranger, he was partnered with a female government agent. And after falling in love with her, woke one morning to find her gone.

Agent Elizabeth Cartman became a widow much too young. When her feelings for the Texas Ranger grew strong, guilt plagued her and she rang. She never expected to see him again, but fate had other ideas.

After settling in as a U.S. Marshal, Chan obeyed a summons to Big Pine, finding himself face-to-face with the one woman he hoped had disappeared from his life forever.

Can they work together one last time and settle the case before someone gets hurt? The danger ramps up as the hunters become the hunted.

This is book 14 in the series which can make it a little difficult to remember all the characters.

It has the feel of the wild west with gunfight and law men chasing outlaws with a little romance thrown in.

My only criticism was the ending. It felt really abrupt without answering what Beth ends up doing and does Chan decide on buying his own plot of land?

I like Shirleen Davies books and have been reading her different series for several years. Storm Summit did not disappoint.

Chan Evans is a brother of Gabe Evans, the sheriff of Splendor. Their family is wealthy and comes from back east. Both Gabe and Chan left home to lead their own lives. Chan is now a US Marshal. He has been content to be on his own but has recently given thought to getting married and having a family. His heart was broken by a woman who he thought loved him as much as he loved her, until she disappeared and left him with nothing but a terse note.

Beth Cartman is a widow and a Treasury Agent. She worked with her husband until he was killed. She fell for Chan when they worked on a case together. She loved him but was scared by how quickly she fell for him. Fear made her leave his bed early one morning, leaving him nothing but a note. She has always regretted it.

A mission to find a team of counterfeiters brings the two together again. But will they be able to put their feelings aside to catch the counterfeiters and their crew? Will they be able to rekindle their relationship?

This story has a happily ever after. You don't have read the other books in the series but it would help you to understand some of the back story, as the characters from them all walk through the story.

Chan and Beth get a second chance.

Secret Service Agent Beth Cartmen knew US Marshall Chandler Evans two years ago. They meet and feel in love. But she left him with no regard
to his feelings. There was no
explanation and went back to work. Leaving Chan hurt and disappointed. He knew she loved him, but she had lost her husband only two years before she met him. She felt she was betraying her husbands memories.
Now, two years later, they are thrown into an investigation of counterfeit money being passed around by two brothers and their cohorts.
This throws Beth and Chan back together. He still has strong feelings for her, but he isn't sure how she feels about him?
She's three years older than him, and she doesn't know if that matters to him.
While they are investigating, he has a bad guy aiming to kill him. Beth tries to intervene and gets hurt. Chan's brother, Marshall Gabe Evans, gets shot and almost dies in his brothers place.
These two are just trying to bring down the bad guys and are in danger in the process.
The love for each other is strong. Can they work through the danger and their feelings for
each other?
Love these two people. Another great story by Shirleen Davies.

This is a dramatic, entertaining and romantic story. Change and Beth had once been together, until she left him with just a note to say goodbye. He never got over her, she never got over him or her regret about the way she ended things. Now thrown back together, he's determined to ignore his feelings for her. Beth is an independent woman and is also an Agent for the United States. She's on the trail of counterfeiters, he's ordered to help her. Then another person from Chan's past comes to town, but he wants to kill Chan. While hunting the counterfeiters, and trying to keep Chan alive, they give in to their feelings. Unfortunately neither is actually doing any confessing of the heart, which leaves Chan trying to protect his heart and Beth feeling used. I really liked both Chan and Beth, Chan is stubborn, caring and protective. Beth is tough, independent and kind. The storyline is interesting and unexpected.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

The town of Splendor, Montana Territory, 1870, and the population is growing every day. People are moving there, opening businesses and making a life. Others have growing families, babies born and relatives coming west.

This is an exciting series and as the characters expand, the criminals also move in to infect the peacefulness on the streets. U.S. Marshal Chan Evans works as a ranch-hand when he is not on a case or in court. Federal Agents are on the trail of counterfeiters and paths cross in neighboring Big Pine and travel to Splendor. This is a true adventure with guns blazing, killers running and lawmen chasing; plus, we have rekindled romance happening that will make you smile knowing there are happy events in Splendor. I loved every minute of this book. Thanks to the author for the ARC so that I could enjoy the early copy.

Chan had to deal with multiple outlaws trying to kill him and an ex-lover that he thought was the one who ran out on him two years ago. Beth was a tough federal agent trying to make it in a man's world while falling for Chan and feeling guilty about replacing her deceased husband with him. Despite the hurt, there were plenty of sparks still between them. I didn't like how he knew she was well trained in handling a gun and tracking criminals, but he kept trying to stop her from helping him. There were multiple shootings, explosions, a prison break, and two births. It was interesting reading about Chan and Beth's investigations trying to determine if the counterfeit bills were being made in Splendor. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC Shirleen Davies books never fail to disappoint. A lovely mixture of familiar characters and new ones that capture the reader’s interest, exciting plot lines where danger and romance are interwoven and a real sense of community where people look out for each other. This is another great book by her where the main characters Chan and Elizabeth have a history but are drawn back together again, when they have to work together to solve a crime in dangerous circumstances. A welcome addition to to the Redemption Mountain series introduces new characters but also brings readers up to date with events and changes to the town and the lives of it’s inhabitants.

Chandler, Chan, and Elizabeth, Beth, worked together two years ago, they were also lovers but Beth left him because she felt guilty about replacing her dead husband.
Once again they are being asked to work together, this time against the counterfeiters. But there's another threat around.
The chemistry between them is understated, there's complete miscommunication with them both misunderstanding each other.
It was great to catch up with previous characters from Splendour.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Another great read from Shirleen, looking forward to the next in the series.

Chan, a marshal and Beth a federal agent have a past that ended badly when Beth walked out on Chan. However, their paths cross again as they are both sent on an assignment to track down some counterfeit money law breakers. Both are wary of each other as Chan does not want to be hurt again. Beth, having grieved for her husband cannot deny that she now loves Chan. As they face danger on their assignment they cannot fight the chemistry between them. Great read and great to reconnect with other characters. Read an ARC for an honest review.

I truly enjoyed this book from the Redemption Mountain series. I love the character, Beth, with her feisty ways and fearless spirit. It’s so nice to read about a strong, intelligent woman in those times. It’s fun seeing how Chan finds ways to deal with her, even to the point of locking her in a jail cell to keep her safe. The story line keeps you guessing and makes this a real page turner. One added bonus in reading a series like this is getting to see how your favorite characters from other books are growing in their relationships. Hope to see more of Beth and Chan in future books.

As a rule, I do not enjoy historic romances, but once again a book from Shirleen Davies is the exception to the rule. You can't help but like both Chan and Elizabeth as well as their family and friends. They have a history and have to overcome past hurt and fears to be able to move forward. This book has romance, intrigue and suspense. A good story with unexpected twists. A very enjoyable read.

Chan and Beth’s story is the next great instalment to the Redemption Mountain series. I found their story to be an entertaining read full of great characters and an interesting storyline. I would have liked a little bit more action/drama and felt some of the storyline wasn’t wrapped up to my liking, but I am probably being overly critical. I love this series and am looking forward to the next installment.

A great second chance romance set in the old west. There is a lot of action and drama throughout the book with a plethora of characters, be prepared to re-read sections just to keep them straight. Even with all the characters you will not get lost in the plot. This is an excellent read as we're all the others in the series

This is the fourteenth book in the series and I hope that there are many more. Chan and Beth are great characters. They were in love before but, Beth left and broke Chan's heart. He never thought that he would see her again. They still love each other but, will they be able to move forward and let go of their pasts.

Another Winner

I love her series and this was a great continuation of the Splendor Mt people. I hope she continues this series for a long, long time. It's great the way she keeps introducing new people and keeps you informed on the other families. I've read all her historical westerns and will re-read them at some point.

I loved this romantic suspense! A strong female secret service agent working with an angsty U.S Marshall - talk about fireworks. Chan & Elizabeth have great chemistry and even better banter. A great mystery that'll keep you guessing until the end.

I highly recommend this book and this series. It's about a small town in Montana in the frontier days and it's loving, warm inhabitants. You will love all of them and their stories. Each is exciting and sucks you into the town. The books are page turners and will keep you up until the end.

This is the story of Chandler Evans, Gabe's younger brother. Like Gabe, Chandler left the comfy and rich background he was brought up in for the wild west. He became a Texas Ranger to do good for the growing country and to keep it safe. While on assignment he falls in love with a federal agent, Elizabeth or "Elize". He has only worked with her a short while but he knows his feelings so when he wakes to find her gone he hardens his heart.

Elize is scared when as a young widow she finds that she has fallen in love with a younger man that she has only known for a short time. She does what most women would do and runs. She goes back to her life where it's safe. Until she get an assignment in Splendor where she is to work with the US Marshal to stop counterfeiters. What she doesn't know is that she will be working with Marshal Chandler Evans.
