Greg was a HAM. That is to say: Greg was a Hero Assessment Manager. He lived in a world where super-powered individuals were fairly common, and corporations (most definitely including the one where Greg worked) had sprung up left and right to enlist, promote, and take full advantage of the expanding hero market.
It's worth mentioning that Greg didn't especially like his job. He'd seen more than his fair share of remarkable feats, but, as the years wore on, these things seemed less and less remarkable. Heroism had become humdrum - and heroes tiring.
As is often the case with these sorts of stories, Greg's life changes (for better or for worse, I can't say) when he's unceremoniously thrown from his office window - on the thirtieth floor. Oddly enough, this is where Greg's story really begins.
