He was sent to put my body and dreams back together. Were they things I even wanted anymore?

Spencer Broten was a pain in my backside from the moment we met.

I was conned into going on a road trip with him. Within hours, I was realizing he wasn't just my trainer. He was much more.

This unnamed, unplanned winding road turned into us getting to know each other as we truly were. Two broken bodies, two broken souls finding out we were more the same than different.

The line between hate and love is a bitter edge.

Outside or inside. Where will we land?

This story … GAH, I loved it!

If I was to trope / theme this story, I’d say it would go under close proximity or maybe even workplace romance. In my world, this isn’t an age-gap story and frankly, not even a friends / enemies to lovers story. When you read it (which I highly recommend you do lol) you might think all the back and forth between the leads is enemy-like, but the real enemy isn’t each other, it’s themselves. And now that I have thoroughly confused you …

The story of Cierra and Spencer is a slow-burn journey of healing, perseverance, dedication and strength between a former NHL player and an injured figure skater. It’s a story that is relatable and realistic, full of insight and wisdom, all wrapped up in a huge heart! Their story is heartfelt, and the conflict is unique in that it’s within each of them and not because of them.

Although I really love this story, the romance between Cierra and Spencer was a bit too far from prominent in the story for my liking, which is why it isn’t getting a 5 star rating from me. *shrug* That could possibly be just a me thing and shouldn’t stop anyone from #oneclicking this story!

Cierra and Spencer need healing. Both physically and emotionally. Who knew a road trip together would accomplish so much?

I don't recall reading anything before by this author, but her style is pretty great. I loved Cierra and Spencer's journey to love. Their chemistry is hot, their dialogue is fun and witty, and the way they healed each other is more than a little emotionally satisfying. I will definitely be reading more by Ariana Rose.

I enjoyed the last book of Rose so I was eager to read this one and it didn't disappoint.
The hero is at the end of his career. His glory days are far behind him and he knows this know. He put everything on the line and it didn't pay off.

Now Spencer has come home hoping that he can pick up where he left off in his personal life. But time changes people. It isn't easy to pick up when everyone has moved on. Given a lifeline by a friend. Spencer enters the world of Cierra in a boom.
He been where she has been but she isn't willing to listen to a guy she believes is past his prime.

She is young and fresh, ready to forget everything. However Spencer has other ideas. Spencer is remarkable in this story. He is older and wiser but he doesn't push it into Cierra's face

He lets her make her mistakes and realise what she pushing away is wrong. He understands her world too well and being a feisty determined woman in this case isn't the best move. Their story is one about hope and redemption. The romance is added bonus. Rose weaves a magical story about healing and love . The love that is undeniable and surpasses everything else.

When his body can no longer hold up, Spencer has to make a decision on where his career will go next after not continuing to play professional hockey. With a similar knee injury, Olympic Figure Skating hopeful Cierra is at a crossroads as well wondering if rehabbing the knee will be worth it in the end. When Spencer is brought in to help the training, more than just physical injuries are fixed, but can they overcome the obstacles to find their HEA? Or will the possible end of their careers but their future in each other on hold? With great characters and an enjoyable storyline this was a great read. Nothing better than overcoming obstacles - even those you cannot physically see.

I've loved every book I've read by Ariana Rose. Her heroes are the kind of men who readers want as their perfect book boyfriend. Spencer has a rough edge to him because of the loss of his NHL dream because of an injury, but when he he has his aha moment is does a complete one-eighty. Not one to let go of his dream, when no one will take a chance on him after he is rehabbed, he goes to Australia only to injure his good knee. Upon returning home, Spencer is adrift, not only professionally but emotionally. To chase his dream, he left his heart behind and upon his return he finds she's moved on.
When given the opportunity to help rehab a figure skater with an injury he is intimately acquainted with, he takes the job. When he meets the skater, Cierra, sparks fly: she's stubborn, bitchy, and ready to give up the Olympic dream. What follows from their first meeting is an age gap, enemies to hostile teammates to tentative friends to lovers romance delivered against the world of hockey and figure skating. Throw in a road trip where all things change and a side trip to Spencer's old friend Chance and his wife, and you have the makings of a gold medal HEA.
While Cierra is younger, she is equal to Spencer in every way. She's the perfect woman to open Spencer's life. All he wants for her is to grab the chance for her dream that he was denied. In the end they both get the dream, while not necessarily what they expected, it is perfect.
I truly enjoyed this story and the character Ms. Rose created. The banter between them ranges from fights to teasing to heartfelt conversations. I recommend this story to anyone who likes sports romances, the healing power of love, and the realization of dreams.

This is a great story about healing and learning to live again. Both Cierra and Spencer have had their lives upended because of the same injury to their knee that required surgery. Spencer played hockey while Cierra was a figure skater. After Spencer hurt his knee, he ended up moving to Australia to try his hand at their hockey league, only to mess up his other knee the same way and that was the end of his hockey career.

He is lost when he decides to go back home but soon he has a job opportunity for someone with the same injury, Cierra. He starts working with her and can see a change in her after the first few weeks. But she is very stubborn and takes a while for her to let go a bit.

It took me a while to warm up to Cierra. She wasn't very likable at first and I can understand that she was suffering from the abrupt change in her life due to her injury. It was hard for her to see that her dream wasn't over if she just worked a bit harder.

Spencer is a professional hockey player who has just endured a career ending injury however when he returns home, he finds out that it is not the life he left. Needing a new focus in his life he agrees to help a figure skater heal from an injury that he is quite familiar with.

Skating in the Olympics is all that Cierra has dreamed of so although she is resentful about what happened her determination hasn’t wavered. Having to spend time with Spencer was the last thing she wanted but along the way they may just help each other heal both personally and professionally.

Spencer and Cierra come into each other’s lives when they need someone the most and there is no denying that they are much stronger together than apart.

Bitter Edge was a great addition to the Cocky Hero World and one that was full of passion and inspiration. Spencer and Cierra will own your heart in such a short time as their story takes you on a journey of not only love but healing. The connection and chemistry between these two could be felt soul deep. It had a little of everything including steam, humour and fun. A beautiful love story that left you with nothing but a smile on your face.

Bitter Edge, Cocky Hero Club Novel by Adriana Rose, Narration by Morae Brehon and Gregory Salinas
I purchased this book and audio when I met the author at a book signing.
Narration was great. I loved Gregory’s Australia accent. Morea did a great job trying to nail it as well. Both brought a lot of li
First of all, I gotta say this book reminded me of the movie “The Cutting Edge”. Do you remember that flick about the ice princess figure skater and the washed-up hockey player? This book reminded me so much of that movie!! I loved the movie, so I was here for the books as well.
Cierra and Spencer are both broken souls. Spencer is broke, because he gave up everything including love to chase his dream to stay in professional hockey. The dream was smashed and now he is trying to figure his life out when a job opportunity lands in front of him.
Cierra is a broken skater who doesn’t even know if she even loves this sport anymore. She is tired of not making any decisions about her life for herself. She is tired of everyone telling her what to do and when to do it. She rebels and sure as hell isn’t going to listen to this NEW IDIOT tell her what to do.
Cierra and Spencer take a roadtrip and everything changes in an instant. They decide to live life and see what can happen. They both know that this will change everything…either for the better or the worse.
I enjoyed the couple and seeing them start to form an attraction and work through all their issues. This book was my first read by this author, but I hope not my last

"Her beautiful eyes are perfectly painted in a smoky haze that matches her dress. She has eyelashes for days. Her lips are a pale pink and shine. All I can think about in this moment is kissing them."

4 Bitter Stars!!! Sweet and beautifully told!

Cierra has a crippling injury from ice skating and she's not sure if she'll make it back on the ice again. Spencer is an NHL player that had a career ending injury. These two are thrown together and the chemistry and passion that envelopes them is perfection!

I won't go more into detail, but I will say this book is beautiful! You will fall in love with these two as they fall in love. The story is so well told and you just can't seem to tear yourself away from the book! Go one click!

There was a sweet feel to this story and I loved everything about it! Spencer is in a weird place. All he's known is hockey and thanks to blowing out both knees, he's now out. His future is questionable and fate hands him a job.. A job that would change his life in the best way. I loved how we got to see the anger melt away over time with Cierra. She wasn't happy about being off the ice and having Spencer around. He knows what it takes to get back on the ice and keep doing what you love. Yes he pushes her but it's done in a way that is respectable. I love the level of respect that he has for her. He was always checking to make sure she was ok and that only made me love him more. Cierra, despite being younger, can hold her own with Spencer. These two were adorable together and I loved how the book was based on her journey to get back on the ice, rather then them. I mean, sure we got some sweet moments where they visit Vegas, have a fun night together and then visit with his friends. I loved the little moments he planned for her and how they opened her up to move her forward. These two have great chemistry and work together really well. I loved this book and the characters in it!

A very chill book, maybe I been reading too many dark books that this was a chill read. On this book we get to meet two characters, Cierra the figure skater who has a bit of a sassy bitchy attitude, after all she thought the world had messed up her life and dreams. Both characters broken in a way, both perfect to heal each other. Spencer an older guy who can helper in every way. This is an age gap book but not triggers as she is legal age, twenty one to be exact.
Overall a easy read and cute book!

Woo! Sports romance fans, meet your next must read. This sports romance, part of the Cocky Hero Club, is off the charts! It's full of heart, emotion, heat, and so much more. Spencer is a hockey star who has had some bad luck in the form of an injury and saying goodbye to the woman he loves. He takes a job to help a struggling ice skater, Cierra, who is over coming her own injury. At first they don't mesh well together. Their banter had me cracking up. Spencer is stubborn and Cierra is a spit fire. Soon their icy relationship starts to heat up as they start to understand each other. But of course they have obstacles in their way, like their age gap and profession relationship. This story had me hooked from the first line to the last. It really made me understand the world of figure skating so much more. I felt like I was on the ice myself. This is a must read in the Cocky Hero Club. Fans of the original Cocky books will love the special appearances. You'll be taken away by the emotion and heart in this story. Get ready to be hooked on their story!

Ariana Rose's book set within the world of Ice Skating is a really nice twist on Hockey Romances. If you have read any of my reviews in the past you will know I am a die hard Hockey Romance fan.

I really enjoyed the use of an ex hockey player who's career was cut shot by injury helping an up and coming Ice Skating Star get back on the Ice after a similar injury. The interplay between the young 21 Cierra and the slightly older hockey star Spencer was inspirational as he slowly brings Cierra out of her shell and makes her believe in herself as an athlete and a woman and the fact that she can get back on the Ice and compete in the Olympics.

The chemistry is of the chance between the two and although Spencer is still going through the pain of not being able to play the two in their own way help the other heal.

A really sweet read one for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Bitter Edge is a new stand-alone book in the Cocky Hero Club by Ariana Rose. This unique HEA introduces us to Spencer, a former NHL player whose career comes to a bitter end with an injury as well as his hopes and dreams and to Cierra, a potential Olympian figure skater who faces the same injury but who has the hope just now questions the dream. Together professionally they work together to try and get Cierra back to the life she knows through a love hate relationship that teaches them both about life, hopes, dreams, desires, and potential within them selves and within their hearts. This book is an enjoyable read with some great inspirations and thought-provoking questions anyone can ask themselves to find what really lies within the depths of their own heart. This is the perfect read for an afternoon escape or a lazy day by the fire.

When i began reading this book, I couldn’t help but think about one of my favorite movies, “The Cutting Edge,” because of the figure skater/hockey player characters. But that was were the similarities ended. Sometimes we just can’t seem to get out of our own way and want to stay in our pity party of one endlessly. Spencer was just what Cierra needed to push her and test her patience to get back to what she wanted, what she craved. Heck, if I had a personal trainer who looked like Spencer, I’d show up everyday...twice a day even. He knew how to push and pull to get her back in competing form. She knew how to push and pull to get him to see that his ex wasn’t his HEA. Spencer and Cierra were so well crafted by the author that I forgot they weren’t real people.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Spencer had a career ending injury since no one would take a chance on him after he rehabbed that knee, so he's feeling very lost. Cierra is a figure skater who injured herself, so Spencer is called in to help her. It doesn't start out very good since she's a bit difficult about pushing through to finally achieve her Olympic dream instead of giving up. From the jump the sparks were flying since their interactions were fiery but Spencer kept at it, and slowly they changed to friends but with those sparks, it was only a matter of time before they wouldn't be denied. This was an amazingly emotional story about never giving up, even if your dreams may or may not end up looking different. Seriously, y'all need to experience this fantastic sports read so hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This is a stand-alone story in the Cocky Hero Club Series, where you get to meet Spencer and Cierra, a former NHL and the figure skater. If you love the Cutting Edge as much as I do, you must read this book. But let me tell you that there is more into this story, their background gets them to meet, their injuries binds them together, but their heart will set their path on the same road, where they each need to battle their demons and heal their souls before they can truly be together. Also yes you will find some beloved characters from Cocky Bastard and see a bit of what they are doing. You will love Spencer and Cierra, they are strong characters that can stand on their own, and their chemistry will spark that emotional side for you. They will learn what means to be really recovered and what a relationship is always about. Definitely a beautiful story and one I recommend reading.

Spencer’s NHL dream comes to a bitter end when he is injured, and he is struggling to come to terms with his career ending. Cierra is a figure skater who is trying to recover from an injury, and from the moment she meets Spencer the sparks fly. Cierra is conned into going on a road trip with Spencer, which lets them both get to know each other better. There is a fine line between hate / love, as they find out along the way. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with witty banter and is a heartfelt and thought-provoking tale which show that love can heal anything. This talented author has done an outstanding job in penning this tale and I highly recommend her work for all readers.

A modern day twist of the Cutting Edge with hard work and lots of frustrations. Spencer was the best hockey player until an injury's sidelined him for good. Now he's trying to help other athletes get back out to their sport. When he's hire to help Cierra get her passion for ice skating back as well as her legs things turn interesting. Cierra has mixed feeling of getting back on the ice. She fights tooth and nail because she knows she's not ready. However her parents and coach have other ideas. Now Spencer is there pushing her while she's cussing him. Can these two get back on the ice and learn from each other or will they kill each other in the end. I loved the chemistry and hard work in this story. How you could feel the passion they both have for the ice.

I've said it before in one of my previous Cocky Hero Club series reviews, but I'm loving this entire series as I'm getting to read new to me authors, and Ariana Rose has just joined an already impressive list of authors I will be reading in the future.

There's not really a particular category I'd list this story under, as it's not quite an office or workplace romance, it's not an enemies to lovers story either. What we've got are two people who are broken in their own way, and how they learn to deal with everything that comes from learning to heal not only your body, but also your spirit. I do wish that the romantic aspect of this story had a bigger part to play overall, but I still found this to be a great read and addition to a fantastic series.

Had I not already had From Lukov With Love under my belt, I might have loved this a bit more. It wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as the other story.

I did the audio version, and wasn't all that impressed with the narration either. It wasn't clear where Spencer was from, he had what sounded like an Australian accent, and there was mention of him playing in Australia for a few years (which shouldn't have resulted in him picking it up) but when the characters met Chance towards the end, Cierra says something about hearing her name in an Australian accent being hot, and the guy narrator changed his sound when he was voicing Chance, which all threw off my image of the entire first 80% of the book.

Bitter Edge by Ariana Rose is a book about two people, Spencer and Cierra, who are brought together due to similar sports injuries. Spencer, a former NHL player, is recruited to help Cierra get over her fears from her injury and help her to move forward with chasing her dream as a figure skater. Throughout their work together, they both realize they have more in common than just their injuries. Spencer and Cierra grow closer and end up not only helping each other but falling for one another. This is a fun, sassy and yes, steamy read. I instantly fell in love with Spencer and Cierra and look forward to exploring the rest of the Cocky Hero World!

There is so much heart, and healing in this story and not just for Cierra, but for Spencer too. That's all I'm gonna say about this book, I'm so recommending Bitter Edge, and you will love this story as much as I did, and you'll be rooting for Cierra and Spencer to find what they both want and need. Oh my this is a beautiful sweet love story. This delightful book is Spencer and Cierra’s story, 2 people from different ice arenas coming together with due to injuries. Spencer is brought in to help Cierra who is floundering with an injury and as we follow them we get to see the sparks as they discover themselves as well as each other. A truly enjoyable read by Ariana who is a new author to me. This book is part of The Cocky Hero Club but can be read as a standalone. I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion.

What a great story of dedication and strength! This story brings together two people who are broken, one physically and one emotionally. It was beautiful to watch them heal each other with their support and see their love grow into something special.

This story really sucked me in, I was cheering for them both at the end. I really liked that there was not the usual “break up/get back together “ drama, just real emotions to work through. And there was just enough steam to make it interesting 😉

Spencer and Cierra's story had my full attention. Spencer is a fhot hockey player who runs into some unforeseen issues, which has him changing his career. The pain of not being able to do what you want in life, but trying to find something to fill that empty void.

I have to say I love me a good IR story. Cierra is a feisty little thing who is injured and scared to step outside of her comfort zone too much. The banter and connection between the two main characters was fun and interesting to read about. This story will not be my last read by Arianna Rose.

Edge of glory

Bitter Edge has some fun pop culture references that made my day. Kate will always be my favorite Ice Queen, is seems Coach B thinks so too.

Cierra is down on her luck, hopes, and living with a temporary crushed dream as long as she can snap out of it. One injury for her is not the end of the world. A former NHL player turned therapist is about to teach her all the right moves.

Bitter Edge is all about pushing through to make your dreams happen- whatever or whoever they may be.
