I'm an Alien Vampire and I'm Proud of it! is an amazing book for multicultural children. It is about a character who is half alien half vampire and sometimes finds it difficult as he has different skin, languages and preferences to others in his school and town but he also finds many positives of being so different.
I love this book and how it has been done in such a positive way as it is perfect to show children that being different isn't a bad thing. I like how the multicultural aspect of this book has been done in a subtle way but one that multicultural children will be able to relate to.
I like Ace as a character as he shows us all the positives and things he's not so keen on about being from both the vampire and alien culture but he always finds a good thing about it. He is sometimes frustrated by his differences but mostly shows strength and positivity in being different.
The illustrations are fantastic and are really great at showing the differences Ace is talking about. Having the book be about aliens and vampires is fun also as it's something the children are excited to see in the picture and it gets the message across well so it would work universally with any cultures.
This is an incredible book for any aged children to show that being different is not a bad thing and that having a multi-cultured family can be more fun than you might think!
Alien Vampire is a cute little book about growing up different, living in two different cultures. The art is adorable and effective, and message well said and positive.
