But it’s hard to revel in their own success when they’ve lost the one thing they were always meant to together. “This is one of the best books that I have read in awhile…well-written, and very enjoyable. I could actually FEEL the angst in each of the characters. Well done!” - Jamie Pederson, Amazon Reviewer “Great book about true romance and the struggles of young love when life intrudes. Great book, wonderful characters.” - Mikitwins, Amazon Reviewer “Kudos to Kilby Blades for another good book. High School sweethearts hoping for a second chance at love…a page-turner with great characters. I'm finding that Kilby Blades is going to be an author I turn to since the books don't seem to disappoint.” - KWOO, Amazon Reviewer"

This was a real let-down to read, which is a bummer, as I thoroughly enjoyed the first book "Friended." Near the end I found myself skimming parts because it was such a tedious, drawn-out, angsty book, a feat in itself as it's only about 150 pages. I had loved Roxy (whose name ends up being spelled both "Roxy" and "Roxie" which is annoyingly distracting) and Jagger so much in the first book and after reading this one couldn't stand either character. I realize that they are only in their 20s, but they were so immature when it came to dealing with their feelings. What a disappointment.
Roxy and Jag are all abloom in first love, and expect to go to college together, and end up staying together forever. But life happens, career plans diverge, and that first love ends. But not really. They breakup but stay friends. Now in the present, they're years past high school and still friends, though living in different cities, and still in love with each other. Will they get a second chance at first love?
Eh, this story just did not work for me. It's way too drawn out and reads like young adult even though the second half is years past young adult and into new adult/adult. Sigh...the angst got to me a bit and I found myself seriously skimming, looking for something to spark my interest in what I had been hoping would be a wonderful second chance love story. Alas, the interest never found me and I was left with feelings of meh. It's definitely not the worst thing I've ever read, it's just not particularly entertaining reading.
I’m giving this 2 stars only because it’s well written, but I did not like it at all. It’s pure angst. The blurb reads like this is a second chance romance between high school sweethearts who ended their relationship so they wouldn’t give up their dreams, but it’s really just an extended breakup. We never see any of the good times; the book starts out when the trouble in their relationship begins and spans several years of them in a strange, unhealthy friendship.
Essentially, the story follows Roxy and Jagger, high school students who are crazy in love with each other. They make a plan to go to the same college, but when it becomes clear that their career goals are taking them in different directions, they decide to end the relationship and shift into a friendship. The first half is YA with high school drama, and the second follows them during their college years as they remain friends without the benefits.
I will say that the writing itself is solid, but that’s sort of where my enjoyment ended. These two never stop loving each other, and they stay in contact.... but they date other people and go on with their lives. It was sort of awkward to read about Jagger keeping up with Roxy’s boyfriends, especially since he’s still a part of her life. I wish this had skipped over the college years and given us more of the good times. There is zero falling in love here, and barely any sweet moments. It’s all about the demise of their relationship. While that may be some people’s cup of tea, it’s really not mine nor was it all that fun to read. I received a free copy via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review of this clean YA/New Adult novel.
Should it have Ended with Friended? Growing up throws some ⚾ curveballs😕 3-3.5🌟 stars💕 I really liked musician Jagger and writer Roxy's earlier book Friended and had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately it seemed a bit flat and not as good as the previous. Maybe it's a bit like the musical Into The Woods, where the characters all get their happy, fairytale endings BUT, when their stories continue past that point, the complications of life creep in to mess things up and the magic fizzles.
Young Roxy and Jagger seemed to have achieved their perfect ending in Friended; I think I would have preferred if their story had ended there rather than face the challenges of how to pursue their dreams and not lose their romantic relationship once they graduate from high school. Maybe a bit too realistic for my romance-loving heart, despite the upbeat ending.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I’m torn with giving this book a 3 star or 4 star review. I liked the book but my issue with it is that the Part 1 (where they are still in high school) was almost ½ the book where it all could have been done in 2-3 chapters. When they were in college that pretty much the other ½ of the book and then All in all I really did like the book I just wish it didn’t spend so much time with them in high school since most of that was covered in Friended. If you’ve read Friended it’s a good continuation of the book so I would say read it.
Life after high school. Very 'When Harry Met Sally' meets 'Beverly Hills 90210' vibe. Follow Roxy & Jagger through the next 7 or so years of their life through college and starting their careers. Instead of seeing life through high school sweetheart colored glasses, they smartly go to different colleges that will be best for them. They decide just friends is the way to go. They stay in touch but neither admitting the feelings that will always be there between them. You wonder if, yet at the same time know, they will make it back to each other. Blah, blah, blah. Just okay for me, as was their first book Friended which was their high school relationship. A lot less dramatics this time around - always a very good thing.
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems. )
This book was really emotional for me. Not that it’s a bad thing, just that I was emotionally invested and could relate to the different stages of their relationship. It ended on a good note, but I still want another book! After a whole book of them apart, I want to see them (and the rest of the gang) happy together, tackling life together as adults. Don’t let that stop you from reading it, because it’s definitely worth the time.
Even though "Friended" can be read as a stand alone novel, "Ended" shows readers that the end of a book isn't always the Happily Ever After for the couple.
This book covers Jag and Roxy's senior year of high school, their college years, and their first few years out of college.
In some ways it ways it was not as good as the first one and yet in others I liked it better. It moved quickly through an 8(?) year span and gave the highlights of their interactions. Definitely an easy, mindless read.
Great all the feels, everything and more, love will find a way romance with just the right amount of drama to make it amazing. Loved this series so much.
Jag and Roxy are madly in love and they were headed to same college until their parents doing everything to derail their plans. Roxy's dad didn't want his daughter to make same mistake as he did with Roxy's mother and Jag's parents are pushing him to go to Julliard and continue his music study. Roxy wanted Jag but she couldn't let potential so she chooses the school so he would go as well. Now they are headed to different schools and they will have to part as friends. They are missing each other as they are apart but timing is always off for both. Will they finally get back or keep missing their timing? I did like Jag and Roxy. I just wished there were more stories of their college and after. I would give story 3 1/2 stars. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
