Devil's Deal

Rate this book

It turns out that hell and Lucifer aren’t what I imagined. That’s a good thing, although I’m still forced to make a deal with the Devil, one that might trigger the Apocalypse. Not at my best, I’m compelled to walk a tricky line. I’ve already sworn an oath to Father Paul and the light angels, but if that oath was based on falsehoods, does it still bind me?

Hank’s best friend sends him a message that he’s in trouble, and we return to Charleston to sort it out. We suspect the worst, but what should be a simple case turns out to be anything but. A terror they call the Vampire is killing kids. I can sense that he’s not human, but he’s not an angel or a demon either. He’s something else.

Hank and I will put everything on the line to figure out what happened to his friend, and shut down whoever is terrorizing his hometown. I’m suspicious this is all tied to the End of Days and my untenable position between light and darkness.

Hopefully, the Fates will be kind to me.

Book 3 of the series was just as good as the first one. Lots of supernatural and paranormal aspects and good characters. Enjoyed this series! Read in order.

Fascinating

Steven end up in a little town after being home for a few weeks. No one knows that he was in hell learning a few things about his parentage. Not was he surprised. Lucifer teaches his a few things and he makes out with one of Lucifer's henchmen. He is asked to decide whose side he is one and he makes a promise to help.

It's an interesting story with cool characters and controversial discussions. One of the prince's of hell is involved and Steven must defeat him to save the children. I find it very entertaining.

Immediately, I want to start listing all of the things that this book reminds me of. But I know that if I do that, I’m going to ruin all of the best twists in the story, and there are several. As soon as I started reading, I was pulled into the story, held captive by the drama and intrigue. I love that we also get to learn more about the Hell of this world and Steven’s particular gifts. I’m fascinated that they’re evolving, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Good twists in vol 3

A dystopia that is more fun than many, a Lucifer who reeks ennui and sneakiness, bad sex cools ghosts and twisty plots - a fun read

4.5 ☆'s

4.5 ☆'s a well laid out story, with intrigue, action and mystery and magic to boot. This book ties up neatly with first two, and is complete unto it's self. That's, not to say, you don't want more; because you will. A new take on the son of Lucifer, making you wonder if there is more than one.
I hope the author continues this series, there is so much more to be had from this storyline. That is the only reason it lost half a star. Looking forward to the possibilities!

Having read the first two books in the series I was curious what the reception in Hell was going to be like. The meeting with Lucifer was interesting and I'm not going to tell you how because I do not want to give any spoilers. Let me just say that Lucifer is portrayed in an unusual way and I loved it. Poor Steven ends up more and more in a dilemma which side to chose. Neither side has been very honest with him.
This book does not end in a cliffhanger but I think a lot of people will be looking for book four when it comes out. Personally I'm hoping that Steven will somehow act as a peacemaker, bring both sides together and avoid triggering the Apocalypse.

Having read and reviewed the previous book in Jeff Altabef’s Nephilim Series (“Devil’s Dance” at 5 Stars), there was no way I would pass up book three, “Devil’s Deal” and I snatched it up before anyone else on Reader’s Favorite review list.

Already a fan of Stephen, the halfling—part human, part fallen angel, I was determined to understand Stephen’s opening statement, “It turns out that hell and Lucifer aren’t what I imagined. That’s a good thing, although I’m still forced to make a deal with the Devil, one that might trigger the Apocalypse.”

Oh, hell yeah!

Stephen gets a message from his long-time, best friend, Hank, about trouble in their hometown (Charleston)—a vampire might be killing kids. Stephen and Hank join forces and put everything on the line to figure out what happened and shutdown whoever is terrorizing his hometown (Charleston). He suspects the mystery is tied to the End of Days and his untenable position between light and darkness.

A master strategist, wordsmith, and character developer, Jeff Altabef excels (again) with book three in the Nephilim Series, “Devil’s Deal”. His imagination and presentation of characters that don’t quite fit their biblically described personages is remarkable and thoroughly entertaining. Who’d-a-thunk the devil didn’t have horns, worn jeans, and walked around barefoot most of the time? How about a game of chess between God and his once most powerful archangel, Lucifer, to determine the fate of the world? Perhaps a female archangel that’s Lucifer’s favorite lieutenant and Stephen’s irresistible curse becomes your favorite scenes? My favorite scenes included the often funny, satirical, or ironic banter between Stephen and Hank as they faced one deadly situation after another.

From action and adventure, to supernatural and natural horror and violence, or great prose and imaginative scenes, there’s something here for you to rave on. I do... rave on the Nephilim series novels and “Devil’s Deal” has been the best, yet. I’m betting, though, that Altabef will top in the next book; I can’t wait!

Devil’s Deal is so fast-paced it will make your head spin and your heart race for much of the book. I am a long time fan of the author, Jeff Altabef, and he definitely delivered a story where it’s world is easily seen in my mind and characters that come to life, especially Mo. It is the third in the series, A Nephilim Thriller, and I highly recommend it and the two previous books.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this ebook from the author and this is my honest and freely given opinion.

Hang on tight because this is an amazing read. I've loved this series so far, and this installment more than met my expectations. It's non stop the entire way through, the plots twists and turns so much but keeps you gripped from start to finish. I love the whole heaven/ hell theme in this series, it's an unconventional take which keeps it fresh and entertaining. Full of snark and a wonderfully dry sense of humour, this is definitely a one click book.
